How Could I Improve...
I think current rules dont permit hydraulics over 3000psi, also how much clearance is behind the skirts? 2.1mm seems too little to me, it should be about 5mm at least. And what powers the srimech? Steel cables is a bit vague.
It looks a lot like the latest incarnatoin of Clawdius, and it wont be popular with tournament writers for saying its almost invincible

Ground clearance is a little low, its not outrageously bad but it could do with being higher a bit, and the force on the crusher could be stated better - possibly in tonnes rather than PSI (Razer had 9 tonnes at the ram and 3 tonnes at the tip of the arm from 3000psi hydraulic pressure for reference). Otherwise good, doesnt look particuarly overweight although Id disagree with it being almost invincible :P
Cables I think worked in Razer because they were fastened to somewhere within the body and were stretched tight when the arm was raised to its maximum height.

Thats exactly right Joey.

How Could I Improve...
Also, am I right in thinking the self-righting wouldnt be xtremely fast if its the same system as Razer, beacuse Razer was comparatively slow

Can someone look over this (hopefully less sucky) revamp of Lethal Injection. (And yes, I know the name is a redundancy)
Lethal Execution
Shape: Box, with the Tornado style angled back.
Colour: Silver, With the words LETHAL EXECUTION painted on the top, in blood red painted that looks like splattered blood
Weight: 100kgs
Dimensions: 105X60X25CM
Speed: 18mph
Turning Circle: 0mm
Armour: 7mm Titanium
Ground Clearance: 7mm at the front, and below the hinged skirts and the back and sides, 0mm with skirts
Movement: Six Aluminium wheels with Vulkanon tires. They are protected from the side by the armour, but are vulnerable from the top . They are powered by 2 B42-500 Magmotors at 48 volt, with 4 NiCad battlepacks.
Weapons: Interchangable weapons.
Setup One: Two Hardox lifting spikes powered by a linear actuator. They are very similar to Panic Attacks lifting spikes, and can be moved 90 degrees in either direction, meaning they work inverted.
Setup Two: A vertical crushing jaw, made of Hardox and diamond-tipped. Its powered by hydraulics at 1500PSI. At the tip it has 2.5 tonnes of force and at the ram it has 5 tonnes.
Setup Three:
A hardox spinning drum with two thick teeth, with a diameter of 30cm powered by a couple of LEM 130s. It runnes at 2000rpm and deals out 70kjs of kinetic energy. Its designed to flip as it bashes Because this set-up is un-invertable, it has semi-sperical wheel coverings. These are made of 3mm Hardox, and are near-unpenetratable by axes. There is also almost 10cm of clearence between the highest part of the coverings and the actual wheels, so even if the axe does poke through, it will probably not hurt the wheels themselves.
Scrimech: Invertable with the first two set-ups, none with the spinning drum.

How Could I Improve...
No real problems, you could do a Drumroll and put self righting hoops on it for the third setup, but thats just a suggestion.

Yay, my robot got a mention!

Hows this arena?
The Bermuda Triangle
An equilateral triangle, each wall is 20m long, not sure how many m2 that is. In the centre of the arena there are three 1 x 1m2 floor panels that shoot upwards, powered by 3 x 100m nitrogen ram at 1000psi. They are arranged in a triagular fashion and designed to throw robots high, not far. There is a pit, in the centre of the bottom wall, 3 x 3m2, opened by the release button, which is at the top point. The floor is 20mm plywood, and the walls 15mm hardox, just 60cm high. There is also a flame pit in the bottom left point and two killsaws in the bottom right point.
Possibly the arena that will used in RS!!3

The floor is 20mm plywood
I can see quite a few holes in the floor then. :proud:
Other than that, jolly good. :)
-
How Could I Improve...
What would you recommend for the floor?
Right now I have images of SGO getting stuck and then destroyed by something Paul entered:wink:
-
How Could I Improve...
Only problem I see is that with the flippers not going outwards you could get robots doing an Atomic quite often (driving in the gap)...still, nothing a roll of fabric and some duct tape wouldnt fix :P
I dont think you have to use realistic materials in arenas anyway...the arena in TCC has a floor made of joeyium, which is incredibly light but resistant to anything that can be used as a weapon, up to and including Frank Goacher :proud:
*coughinterceptoraboverrobotcoulddowithimprovingco ugh*
-
How Could I Improve...
Lets see, something that is thick enough to support 100kg robots, and heavier house robots, of course, unless theres something underneath that. :proud:
Go for 30+mm plywood, and steel underneath that. :)
-
How Could I Improve...

What the hell...?
And thanks Kody
Though if this is the RS!!3 arena, there will be no house robots, as I wish for them not to interefere in my major
-
How Could I Improve...
Well, when the panel goes up, there is a gap left in the floor, and robots can drive into said gap and look very stupid...you can avert that by taping some fabric in place to stop them...meh, my jokes are getting worse :P
I was trying to nitpick your arena in a humourous way, it looks good, makes a change from the usual squares.
-
How Could I Improve...
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah...
*dawning comprehension*
I was considering making the floor steel, like the battlebox, are there any differences between making it 30mm plywood with steel underneath and just making it steel?
-
How Could I Improve...
Magnetism possibly...although like I said I dont think thered be any major problems if you just said the floor was invincible.
-
How Could I Improve...
Yeah, I know I just like it to be realistic
-
How Could I Improve...
This isnt actually something Im considering for a vapour, but...
What is the point of having a sideways flywheel, like the ones seen on robots like Fatal Traction and the antweight Combatant?
-
How Could I Improve...
I dont think Combatant has one anymore, just to be random :P but I think the only advantage would be taking up less space, youd need it to be very large or very fast to have any effect beyond antweight level.
Did Fatal Tractions weapon even do anything?
-
How Could I Improve...
-
How Could I Improve...
Well flywheels can be very effective, take Warrior SKF for example.

I decided to dump Henry IX and replace it with this, if its not overweight
http://strickenone.proboards99.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=teamww&thread=189&p age=1http://strickenone.proboards99.com/i...teamww&thread= 189&page=1
Is it OK?
-
How Could I Improve...
Its not overweight...its bloody complicated, and the spinner is underpowered and as such the lifter will be somewhere to the left of useless...but its not overweight :proud:
One glaring problem is that if its dimensions are 80 long and 80 wide, with the wedge at the front it means your spinning ring is somehow oval.
-
How Could I Improve...
Generally speaking, the more weapons you have the less powerful each one is. Pick betwene the axe and spinner/flipper combo, and ditch the other.
-
How Could I Improve...
Yeah, your right Frank and Joey. The lifter was only added as an after thought anyway, and the way I see it it just makes the robot worse.
Thanks:)

How Could I Improve...
Smells faintly overweight to me, particuarly the pneumatic spike option.
-
How Could I Improve...
*sticks chopstick up Joeys nose*
-
How Could I Improve...
*removes chopstick from nose* Well...I reckon you can have the four LEMs and the hydraulic lifter with the rest of the accessories, but not both. Dont quote me on that though.

How Could I Improve...
Could I just drill holes or something to get the weight down?
-
How Could I Improve...
Possibly, but youre looking at a lot of holes there...incidentally, you said the arm was hydraulic but then said it ran off 2 linear actuators. If the arm did run on electric actuators alone, you could concievably fit it all in weight with a few holes, but the spike would still be out.
Does anyone remember me posting here a while back asking for advice on improving a robot, or am I dreaming again? :proud:

How Could I Improve...
Can you do an electric spike?
-
How Could I Improve...
You could do one with a motor retracting the spike onto a spring, the other option would be to drive it from a flywheel but you wouldnt fit that on the end of an arm.
-
How Could I Improve...
Could you explain the spring thing, so then I could use that?
-
How Could I Improve...
Its like Aggrobots weapon in S3 - you just have a spring inside the arm and a catch to release the spike, and then some mechanism to wind it back in (an overvolted drill motor would do it)

How Could I Improve...
As some of you may know, the Zlaying Every Day forums recently got itself a new and unknown member who listens to the name of Destroyer25. Kody and I spoke this person yesterday over msn, and we discovered he wishes to make vapourbots himself. He is fairly new to forum business but claims to be experienced in robotering. He now has his own board at the ZED boards to store his vapours, but hasnt fully found his way to this forum yet, therefor I decided to introduce this new blood to the grand audience :proud:.
Lets hear it for Destroyer25!
http://strickenone.proboards99.com/index.cgi?board=terv&action=display&thread=282http://strickenone.proboards99.com/i...play&thread=28 2
Heres his board. Below is his first and so far only vapourbot.
Name: The Undertaker 3
Shape: Son of Whyahci
Armour: 10 Titanium
Speed: 15MPH
Drive Motors: 4 S28-400 Magmotors driving 6 TW W238H-150-44H Wheel at 36volts
Weapon 1: 3 armed rotors with spiked sledgehammers spinning at 8,300RPM powered by a Briggs & Stratton engine at 12v
Ground Clearance: 0mm all over due to the 2.25 tires and 1mm on rotors making it impossible for lifters wedges and flipper to get under and flip or lift The Undertaker 3
Strength: powerful weapon good armor and speed
Weakness: none
Here you have it, some rough and basic stats. Anyone has some good advice for this new kid on the block?:proud:
-
How Could I Improve...
Firstly, welcome...secondly, 10 what titanium? 10 metres, 10 fish, 10 green bottles on a wall?
Also, 8300rpm is a tad unrealistic, Im not sure if most large motors go above 4000rpm. Having 0 ground clearance all over is also a problem as it means you wont be able to move :proud:
One final thing; if someone stops the weapon, they will be able to flip you - and dont say it wont happen, there are some evil spinner killers out there (of which I have designed a couple) so you cant expect to just be continuously spinning.
Hope that helps. (has he registered over here yet?)
-
How Could I Improve...
I believe you can get over 8000 RPM if you use several motors. 0 CG is a problem.
Just out of curiosity, what happened to Undertakers 1 and 2?
-
How Could I Improve...
Hi guys wats up umm heres my new stats
