Calum- you'd just get embarrassed like normal mate.
A bit more done today ;
Wheel blanks turned down to the correct width then dished out on the cnc;

holes drilled in them to loose weight...and mostly to look cool;

All put together to give an idea of how its going;

just need to get the motor mounts and bearing blocks done then it should be rolling :)
current weight with everything should be 7.2kg... plenty of weight for armor and maybe a detachable weapon? :)
Also i need to sort out some rubber coating for the wheels... Ive looked into doing them myself but it means making moulds and getting in a mess.. Other quote i had was for £20 a wheel, £25 with chevrons in the rubber...
Anyone know of anywhere cheaper? Or even some good rubber tube with a 70mm ID i could slide over and bond to the aluminum?
Looks really good! Cant wait to see first vid of it driving.
Nice work Dave, as per usual. Will be good to see it when it's up and running.
About the wheels; I think the Big Nipper guys have a bonded rubber-on-ali wheel setup for their featherweights? I was going to say they used rubber radiator hose but I think that was an older solution that wore down too quickly. The wheels they have these days look to be of similar diameter so they may be able to help you out.
If you don't find anything cheaper, and can afford it, chevrons for the win 8)
i imagine you already know dave it's called vulcanising (no idea if i spelt that right lol), but i had a few done a couple of years back and they are quite expensive for what it is
craig danby had those tanto wheels done, he gave me the contact info for the guys and it came back again quite high and pricey
might be worth asking him???
looking very good btw :)
I know what its called Alex, i just didn't know how to spell it either lol...
Ive got a meeting with these guys on Thursday ;

There going to see what they can do for me. I think the wheels will end up with a tyre similar to the black one on the homepage of there website- as i think its quite cool :) Also im going to see what grip levels they provide, They told me a nat50-60mix would be good, But i dont have any idea what that means so im going to have a look in person before i hand over the cash :)
are you gonna get prices on different types, like that black one and normal smooth/flat???
just use a hot glue gun to make rubber treads, its gonna loose against mine anyway!
Nice wheels Dave i want some
Cheers Shane.
Dropped the wheels of at the place today (didn't realize its right next to were i work at cadburys) and got the invoice.. its going to be about £25 a wheel with the chevrons... a bit pricey but could be worse. They gave me a sample of the rubber there coating the wheels in, Seems nice and grippy but not to soft, probably softer then blue wheels though.
And i went for the chevron pattern, Would of been £20 a wheel without the V shape cut into them.
