Welcome to Robot Wars - The Legends Special. Last time, you saw Reptirron the Second rampage its way to the final, skinning Wolverine on the way.
But tonight, two of the biggest showmen in the wars, Sir Chromalot and Diotoir, are in the arena together. And also competing tonight, perhaps the most successful robot to never make it past the heats, tournament favourite S.M.I.D.S.Y., ready to bust some moves, and some robots.

Yes, it's Heat C already. It feels like the tournament only started a few weeks ago....which is fitting, because it did. But the robots never rest. They crave destruction....and so do I. XD

I'd say don't try this at home....but who's got a battle arena with a flamethrower in their living room? LET THE WARS BEGIN!!

FROM SWINDON IN WILTSHIRE - GYROBOT
Lost in Round 2 of its heat after being thrown around the arena by The Grim Reaper
This innovative competitor is what's known as a Ring Spinner - the circular body is surrounded by a 40 kilo spinning ring, spinning at 800rpm, and by spinning on the spot, Gyrobot can make it spin faster. It's very quick at 20mph, but it has little experience in the warzone, and that could let it down in a very experienced heat.
FROM MAIDSTONE IN KENT - S.M.I.D.S.Y.
This robot has been a heat-finalist three times in five wars, that is more than any other robot without passing that stage.
The name, if you don't know by now, means Sorry Mate, I Didn't See You. This long, low invertible box shaped robot is very powerful on its four wheel drive and has two weapons - a lifting scoop at the front and a horizontal cutting disc at the back. It's very experienced, very effective, very powerful....but I still question its reliability.
FROM BIRMINGHAM - TOMOHAWK
Took just one hit in the first round of its heats from IG-88, and that was enough to knock it out.
This box-wedge shape has a very low profile, is quite speedy around the arena, and has a nasty looking pneumatic axe for a weapon, but its track design is largely untested, and it doesn't like spinners....who in their right mind DOES?

3...2...1...ACTIVATE!!
The fight begins. Tomohawk and S.M.I.D.S.Y. are the first to move, with Gyrobot lagging a bit, to get the ring up to speed. S.M.I.D.S.Y. turns front on into Tomohawk, and is hit with its axe a few times. S.M.I.D.S.Y. pushes Tomohawk back into the arena wall, lifting it up with its jaw. Gyrobot, now spinning, comes in from the side and strikes S.M.I.D.S.Y. just in front of its rear wheel. No damage, but S.M.I.D.S.Y. reverses in an attempt to retaliate, and therefore it drops Tomohawk. Tomohawk recovers and ploughs into S.M.I.D.S.Y.'s side, again hitting with the axe. Gyrobot rolls in front of S.M.I.D.S.Y., and the acronym named machine turns its attention to the ring spinner, and drives it towards the arena wall....straight into a grinder! S.M.I.D.S.Y. lifts up Gyrobot, as Tomohawk comes in and axes it again. S.M.I.D.S.Y. reverses....oh, and strikes the axe-weilding robot hard in the side with its disc. Gyrobot escapes and tries to retreat. S.M.I.D.S.Y.'s intentions now seem to be clearly on Tomohawk. It gets underneath the front of it again and pushes it.....towards Cassius Chrome. The boxing House Robot punches Tomohawk a few times, but no damage caused at all...OW! Gyrobot suddenly struck S.M.I.D.S.Y. in the rear, but no damage was caused by the spinning ring....in fact, I worry that damage has been caused TO the spinning ring by S.M.I.D.S.Y.'s blade! Tomohawk has gotten away, but S.M.I.D.S.Y. now gets under its side, and pushes it over the flame pit! Tomohawk gets away and fires its axe as it turns, but misses S.M.I.D.S.Y., whilst Gyrobot hits the pit release button. S.M.I.D.S.Y. is STILL on the tail of Tomohawk, and pushes it around the arena again. Gyrobot comes in, but its rim is no longer spinning, and I fear it could be in massive trouble now. But Tomohawk is being pushed into Shunt....who strikes! His axe bashes against Tomohawk's armour plating! Gyrobot comes forward and pushes against S.M.I.D.S.Y.'s side....Tomohawk drives away, leaving S.M.I.D.S.Y. in the CPZ! Shunt's axe comes down and hits S.M.I.D.S.Y., making a nasty looking hole in the top. S.M.I.D.S.Y. reverses away....and hits Tomohawk with its disc again....no damage, it seems, except for a few scratches. We're into the last 10 seconds, and S.M.I.D.S.Y. is now lifting up Gyrobot with its scoop. Gyrobot is raised off the ground. Tomohawk....doesn't appear to be moving....!
CEASE!!
Saved by the Cease! Tomohawk may have been immobilised, but not for long enough. The battle shall go to the judges.
GYROBOT
Damage - Caused very little damage at all. 1/5
Aggresion - Quite persistant at first, suffered greatly once its weapon stopped working. 2/5
Control - Poor control throughout, but did lure S.M.I.D.S.Y. into Shunt's CPZ. 2/5
Style - Good at first, dropped after damage to ring. 3/5
S.M.I.D.S.Y.
Damage - Caused significant damage to Gyrobot, immobilised Tomohawk at the end. 5/5
Aggresion - Fairly aggresive under attack from both machines. 4/5
Control - Well controlled throughout the battle, loses points for two mistakes. 4/5
Style - Strong style throughout. 4/5
TOMOHAWK
Damage - Very little damage at all. 1/5
Aggresion - Very aggresive, hit S.M.I.D.S.Y. several times. 4/5
Control - Poor control in places, kept getting in front of S.M.I.D.S.Y.'s scoop, missed an axe shot. 2/5
Style - Pretty good style, but loses points for immobilisation at end. 3/5

The decision is in....and with that, Gyrobot is eliminated!

FROM TORQUEY IN DEVON - CONSTRICTOR
Thrown out of the arena by Tsunami in Series 7
This robot is long and low to the ground, which won't make it easy to grab. Its weapon consists of a lifting beak which can double as a clamp to squeeze the life out of its victims. It can run upside down, but it also has a srimech, but it doesn't like being flipped.
FROM DUBLIN IN THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND - DIOTOIR
Has competed in five wars and reached two heat finals.
It doesn't exactly look like a robot, but don't be fooled by the fur, boggle eyes and luring grin, this robot is dangerous. The smile sits upon a lifting mechanism which in the past has upset the mighty Tornado. It has predigree, is very manuverable and difficult to flip, but it's flammable, not the best at self-righting, and....what the heck IS that thing on top of it?
FROM SOUTH OCKENDON IN ESSEX - SIR CHROMALOT
Four times this machine has competed, but it has never been beyond the second round.
Made from an American truck wheel hub, Sir Chromalot certainly has 18 wheels of thunder when it comes to determination. It has a powerful flipper arm that doubles as srimech and it is also quite fast. But can it really get past the second round, or is that a perminant barrier? We'll see.

I bet Sgt Bash will be pleased to see Diotoir again. It's Sir Chromalot that makes the first move, but to whom? Well, it seems that Constrictor is making a move towards Sir Chromalot. Sir Chromalot gets underneath Constrictor and flips it over! And I mentioned right at the start of the battle that it doesn't like being flipped. It fires its flipper...and manages to throw itself back over...but now Diotoir comes in from the side and flips it over too! Constrictor lands awkwardly upside down again, and tries to drive away...no, that's not working. The flipper lifts up...no, that isn't working either. Constrictor, again, tries to drive away...but it doesn't look as though there's any power in the left hand drive! Diotoir pushes into Sir Chromalot...Oh, and Sir Chromalot retaliates by flipping Diotoir over! Oh, and one of its eyes has fallen off again!! Oh, Diotoir! Do you exist solely to please us? Who knows. But Constrictor is still struggling to get driving properly! Refbot approaches. Sir Chromalot spins in the centre of the arena..

Well, he counted someone out, but who? The house robots come in...and can't seem to decide! Dead Metal thinks it was Diotoir counted out, but Sgt Bash thinks it was Constrictor. The saw blade of Dead Metal buries itself into the underbelly of Diotoir. Sgt Bash graps the lifter on Constrictor and carries it to the floor flipper. You ever seen a snake fly? You're about to....FLIP!! And there it goes. The rear panel flies off...AND NOW CONSTRICTOR is moving freely again! But is it too late?
CEASE!!
Well, after examination, it turned out that the panel on top of Constrictor had bent awkwardly after Diotoir flipped it, which lifted one wheel off the floor and prevented it from moving freely. And the judges say that Constrictor was immobilised first, so...controversial though it may be...

I don't think Tomahawk's axe is overly accurate and from what I remember Sir Chrome is fast while Tomahawk is slow, therefore the plan is to keep moving quickly and use a hit-and-run tactic, flipping Tomahawk over as many times as possible and pitting it if I can.

I don't know what the device on Diotior is, but it might be some sort of balance bar that stops it from staying on its back should it be flipped like that

3...2...1...ACTIVATE!
S.M.I.D.S.Y. has the faster start, that's for certain. It turns and attempts to get around the side. But Diotoir is quite manuverable, and turns to face the cyber-entry. The two meet, scoop to scoop. But the scoop of Diotoir is quite narrow, and S.M.I.D.S.Y. backs away just before it fires, albeit one of the Irish machine's eyes has fallen off! Typical! S.M.I.D.S.Y. gets underneath Diotoir's raised scoop, and begins to push...but if its battle with Tornado has taught us anything, it's that the Son of Nemesis is harder than it looks...indeed, it begins to push S.M.I.D.S.Y. back. In fact, it pushes it very close to the angle grinders. The sparks shower over S.M.I.D.S.Y....and then the cyber-machine lifts its scoop up, raising Diotoir slightly....and lifting its wheels off the ground. Now there could be trouble for the Irish entry! Indeed, S.M.I.D.S.Y. is pushing Diotoir back, ever so slowly, the rear of Dio' scrapping along the ground...and towards Sir Killalot's CPZ! Sir K is a-ready and waiting, and grabs hold of Diotoir's top mounted beam. Whatever it is used for - srimech or otherwise - it's certainly made it easy for Sir Killalot to grab a-hold of. He carries Diotoir out of the CPZ....and where to? Why, over the FLAME PIT of course! Immediately the fur goes up in flames! Lovely! It's good to have you back, Diotoir! But of course, Diotoir isn't immobilised, and Sir Killalot has to put him down....right on the flame pit, of course. But as he retreats, S.M.I.D.S.Y. is right back there....whilst Killalot was having a Diotoir BBQ, it hit the pit release button. Now the pit has decended, and S.M.I.D.S.Y. is now up and under the side of Diotoir, lifting it slowly up. The Irish Annihilator (see what I did there?) won't go down without a fight, and falls off the top of S.M.I.D.S.Y., but at only 6mph, it can't get away from the speedy S.M.I.D.S.Y. quickly enough. S.M.I.D.S.Y. lifts it up again and drives it towards the arena wall....and then it pushes....and now it's giving Diotoir a piggy back! Well, why not? It has done it before. Now S.M.I.D.S.Y. slowly carries Diotoir towards the pit, and rolls back and forth. Slowly but surely, the smouldering lump of metal that used to be furry slides down the pit and out of the Legends Special. Bye-Bye! Send us a postcard from Ireland!

Welcome back to Robot Wars. Before the break, S.M.I.D.S.Y. grabbed the first spot in the Heat Final, dumping the char-grilled Diotoir into the pit. Now let's see who else will join it.

And they're off. Sir Chromalot is the faster of the two, and quickly dodges around the side of Tomahawk. It gets underneath Tomahawk's side and flips it over! Can Tomahawk right itself? It tries to, but it appears as though Sir Chromalot is blocking its way....the axe swings, and knocks it onto Sir Chromalot, and it falls off, right onto its back again. Can it right from there? Why isn't it trying? What's happened to Tomahawk!? It's lying on its back and making no attempt to get back up again!! Something's gone horribly wrong here! Refbot is having a look, Sir Chromalot is backing away....I think Tomahawk has broken down!

And that's it. Out comes Matilda.....

OUCH!! The flywheel strikes, and armour panels come flying off Tomahawk! That has to hurt!

hmmm, not an ideal match-up for me at all. However, I'll try and use my better manouverability to dodge around SMIDSY's front and flip it over as many times as possible, hopefully stacking it against the wall. If I can't do that I think my best chance is to be as aggressive as possible and see if I can scrape the judge's decision.
I'll try and push Sir Chromalot around until it falls over.

Welcome back to Robot Wars. We have our two heat finalists....the long low S.M.I.D.S.Y. and the wheel-hubbed Sir Chromalot. One will win, one will fall....so lets see how they got this far....
SIR CHROMALOT started very strongly in its first round battle, flipping Constrictor and Diotoir over. In the end, Constrictor was badly damaged and went out. Chromalot then had an easy victory against Tomahawk, who broke down shortly into the battle.
S.M.I.D.S.Y. was surviving a team up against it by Tomahawk and Gyrobot. Both robots took damage, but the judges ruled out Gyrobot. Then it flame grilled Diotoir, before shoving it into the pit.

And they're off! S.M.I.D.S.Y. charges straight at Sir Chromalot. Sir Chromalot fires its flipper....oh, and it's got stuck in S.M.I.D.S.Y.'s scoop underside! I wasn't expecting that! Now it's a case of who has the better traction. S.M.I.D.S.Y. tries to push back on the wheels set on the ground. Sir Chromalot digs in, but not enough. S.M.I.D.S.Y. is winning this tug-of-war. Back and forth around the arena they go....and Refbot manages to seperate them. Now the battle can get back to action...or not, as S.M.I.D.S.Y. ploughs into the side of Sir Chromalot, and flips it over. Then it charges it straight towards the arena wall as it tries to self-right....straight into the grinders! Sparks fly! Chromalot eventually rights itself, but loses its flag in the process. S.M.I.D.S.Y. turns....
BAMN!
The disc strikes Sir Chromalot hard in the side, and makes a nice dent in the tyre protection. Chromalot again attempts to use its flipper, but misses. S.M.I.D.S.Y. now rushes to hit the pit trigger. The pit decends! Sir Chromalot rushes towards the pit...oh, is it going to try and lure S.M.I.D.S.Y. in, like it attempted to do with S3? S.M.I.D.S.Y. is having none of that. But Sir Chromalot gets too close to S.M.I.D.S.Y., who gets underneath, pushes down on acceleration....and dumps Chromalot into the pit!
CEASE!!
Sir Chromalot, stripped of his knighthood and kicked out of the special.
S.M.I.D.S.Y. goes through to the final!!

Welcome to Robot Wars, and it's time for Heat 4 of our Legends Special. Last time, you will have seen S.M.I.D.S.Y. pitting Diotoir and Sir Chromalot to make it through to the Final. This week, we've got a series of powerful looking robots, and get this....three former heat finalists in the same first round battle. That's going to be chaos! I think we should get on straight away.
Here's the line-up, for those paying attention.
Hot Pants vs Ripper vs The Alien
Tetanus Booster vs Kronic the Wedgehog vs Lightning
Well, let's not keep them waiting any longer. LET THE WARS BEGIN!!

ROUND 1

FROM BURGESS HILL IN WEST SUSSEX - HOT PANTS
Crashed out in Round 1 of Series 6.
Hot Pants is a long box-wedge shaped robot, designed to be a silky, swuave mover across the arena floor. Easily recognisable with its pants at the back, and the glitter ball hanging from its frame, Hot Pants' main strength is its nasty looking pickaxe, which strikes down very powerfully, and ALWAYS leads the dancing. However, the reliability isn't great and those wheels seem a little exposed. Hot stuff? Or simply Pants?
FROM NEWCASTLE IN STAFFORDSHIRE - RIPPER
Reached the heat final whilst disposing of a few House Robots on the way, and also reached the final of an annihilator.
Ripper is a big, bulky looking machine. However, the mechanics and electricals are quite compact, which means most of this wedge shaped machine is meerly empty space, which allows its relatively thin armour to be effective. It also has a powerful looking flipper, with two rams instead of one. It is powerful and effective, but aside from the armour, it isn't completely flipper-proof.
FROM CANNOCK IN STAFFORDSHIRE - THE ALIEN
Three times, this machine has fought, but never made it far.
A sort-of reverse box wedge makes up the body shape of this machine. It is fairly solid, can right itself if need be and it also has a devestating spinning hammer weapon which can rip pieces off and muck up inner workings. Reliability seems to be its biggest problem, though, letting it down on more than one occasion...

And off they go! Ripper gets off to the fastest start, and heads for Hot Pants. Its large front scoop easily gets underneath its ground clearance....and flips it over! Can Hot Pants right itself? Its axe fires forwards....but The Alien approaches....
WHAM!!
Ouch! The blow has knocked the glitter ball straight off! Hot Pants is still on its back, the axe is out....and I'm not convinced it is going to move again! I don't think it can right. I'm not even sure it is fully working now! Ripper meanwhile decides to toy with The Alien...and flips it up, but not over!
WHAM!!
The Alien's hammer catches Ripper's flipper! It doesn't do noticable damage, but that wasn't a wise choice! Meanwhile, Refbot is investigating Hot Pants...

And Hot Pants is out! Matilda comes in with her own flywheel...
WHAM!!
And Hot Pants is knocked back over, but with its wheel guard broken! It tries to get away, but it's much too late for it now....oh, but Ripper flips it over anyway!

FROM DEVON - KRONIC THE WEDGEHOG
It reached the heat final in its first appearance in Series 4, but never reached that stage again in three more attempts.
A long, blue wedge shaped machine, Kronic the Wedgehog may not be as fast as his name-saked pun, but it's certainly more dangerous. As if the scary face on the front, or the sight of the foam spikes catching fire, isn't dangerous enough, Kronic also has two flippers...one at the front for flipping and one on top for self-righting. It is very sleek and effective, quite reliable too, but I worry about the exposed wheels.
FROM HORNCHURCH IN ESSEX - LIGHTNING
Caused a storm in its first appearance in Series 7, reaching the heat final, before losing to Gravity.
This is another blue wedge-shaped robot, apparantly built from the remains of an alien spaceship. Low to the ground and quite sleek, it has a unique flipper which activates sideways, rather than forwards or backwards like most flippers. The aim is clearly to drive straight underneath and knock it over. I just worry though, it'll need to get quite a distance underneath for it to work properly...AND JUST WAIT FOR THE THUNDER! (sorry, couldn't resist)
FROM LUDLOW IN SHROPSHIRE - TETANUS BOOSTER
Three times it fell in Round 2 of its heats, before reaching the Heat Final of Series 7, only to lose to the then-defending-champion Tornado.
Tetanus Booster is designed to be small and compact. It is a simple box shaped machine, largely dwarfed by its competitors, but agile and quite speedy. Its main weapon, the spinning drum at the front, may look small, but it can cause some serious damage to any weak armour panels, as Leveler 2 and Ewe 2 found out. It has a suspicious ground clearance, though.

Booth 2 - Kronic the Wedgehog, Tetanus Booster
House Robots - Sir Killaot, Mr Psycho
3...2...1...ACTIVATE!!
And they're off! It's Kronic who gets off to the quickest start. It seems its aim is towards Tetanus Booster, who's drum is already spinning. Kronic drives underneath, but just seems to shrug the drum off. It flips Tetanus Booster over, but that won't worry it, it is fully invertible. Lightning charges into the side of Kronic all of a sudden, making its own attempt to flip it! Instead, it pushes Kronic across the arena...and right into Sir Killalot's CPZ! Tetanus Booster follows, and strikes the rear end of Lightning! Sir Killalot probes his lance at Kronic, but actually knocks it off of Lightning and back into the action. Kronic retaliates by getting underneath Lightning...and flipping it over! But Lightning uses its unique side flipper to throw itself back over....oh, right on top of Tetanus Booster!! Kronic aims its snout for Tetanus, gets underneath....and flips BOTH of them over! Certainly, Kronic seems to be the strongest of the three robots! Tetanus, being invertible, is able to drive away first, whilst Lightning is still self-righting, and it digs into Kronic's side. Tetanus' tyres begin to smoke, there's a lot of friction going on within that little machine! Lightning barges underneath Tetanus, and flips it aside, and over! But again, that doesn't worry it too much. But Kronic pushes underneath Tetanus too, and drives....straight towards the pit! Two wheels go in, and Tetanus is stuck! Kronic sees this, turns, positions...and pushes! Down goes Tetanus Booster, out of the competition!

hmmm The Alien. Try and avoid the hammer if I can, I think Kronic is nippier than The Alien so shouldn't be impossible to avoid any fatal collisions. At least try not to leave my sides or rear exposed to it.
The plan is to try and pull off a Prizephita vs. The Alien is series 5, since Kronic is a similar design. Just get underneath and throw it over, hopefully against the wall so it won't be able to self-right, or maybe into the pit if I'm lucky.

And they're off. Lightning turns to aim for a sideways dodge. Ripper turns with it, slips its flipper scoop, and fires....Oh, too early! This lifts Ripper up into the air, and Lightning gets under the now even greater ground clearance, and it flips Ripper....onto its back end! And that's a disaster for Ripper, as it cannot self-right from that position! And with the first attack, the battle is practically already over! Lightning backs away from the beached Ripper and spins in celebration. Refbot has a good long look at Ripper. Still, it doesn't move...and the countdown begins!

And Ripper is out! Lightning backs away, as Sir Killalot comes in, and he's hellbent on revenge, after all the trouble Ripper caused him in Series 7. His claw digs into Ripper's underside and lifts it up. And he does his infamous victory spin. Ripper goes flying, and lands upside down...and it FINALLY rights itself! Much too late, though. It may be moving now, but Ripper was already counted out. He drives towards Shunt's CPZ....HAHAHA! HE'S FLIPPED SHUNT OVER!! BRILLIANT! For us. Not Shunt, obviously. Sir Killalot isn't happy. Lightning, meanwhile, hits the pit release button, the pit decends...and Ripper drives away from Sir Killalot...HAHA! STRAIGHT INTO THE PIT! Oh well.

And they're off. Lets hope it lasts longer than the last one, as Kronic the Wedgehog approaches The Alien, gets straight underneath...and flips it over! Now we know that The Alien isn't the best at self-righting, and I think Kronic is pushing Alien back in order to prevent it from properly doing so....but The Alien DOES self-right this time. It backs away, and attempts to turn, but Kronic follows. Again, it gets underneath. FLIP! Over goes The Alien again! This time, Kronic turns and pushes The Alien backwards, blocking its self-righting attempts, straight towards an unoccupied CPZ. Sgt Bash is quick to move in, and fires his flamethrower....HE'S SET KRONIC'S FOAM SPINES ON FIRE! BRILLIANT!! Kronic quickly backs away, and this time, The Alien self-rights. It'll need to come back into this somehow. Its spinning hammer gets up to speed once more, and it chases after Kronic, who moves to the centre of the arena. Kronic turns quicker than The Alien can reach it, and gets underneath. FLIP! Over it goes again! And again, Kronic uses its tactic of driving The Alien into a CPZ, this time where Dead Metal awaits! He grabs The Alien, and brings forward his saw, which hits the wheel area! Some sparks fly! Kronic backs away. Eventually, Dead Metal pushes The Alien out of the CPZ. Can The Alien still self-right?....Yes it can! Kronic contemplates its next move. The Alien moves forward....pulls to the right....readjusts....pulls strongly to the right again....has something gone wrong with The Alien? It has pneumatic tyres, I seem to remember...and I think one of them might be damaged! That's why it's struggling to drive in a straight line! Surely now it is a sitting duck! Kronic the Wedgehog seems to have realised something isn't right, and comes in to have a look. It gets underneath, but The Alien pulls off...Kronic mistimes its flipper fire...
BANG! PHSSSSSSSSSTTT!!
OH NO!! THE ALIEN'S HAMMER STRIKES KRONIC'S FLIPPER IN THE UP POSITION AND COMPLETELY BUCKLES IT OUT OF POSITION!! This is a disaster for Kronic!! Kronic hastily beats a retreat, its flipper damaged, but The Alien cannot persue it cleanly, it's still pulling strongly to the right. Kronic no longer wishes to come in...

Against Lightning, Kronic will try and get as many flips as possible and maybe a pitting / OOTA if the chance occurs (if this version of Kronic is even capable of an OOTA?). If not, just try and maintain an upper hand by keeping my front facing his, and with the surface area rule I should hopefully breach his wedge most of the time.

So, the Heat Final is once again upon us. Lightning and Kronic the Wedgehog will duke it out for space number 4 in the Legends Final. Lets remind ourselves how they got this far.
KRONIC THE WEDGEHOG ironically had to fight alongside Lightning to dispose of Tetanus Booster. It was a very even battle, until Kronic managed to push Tetanus down the pit. Then it took The Alien to a judges decision after its tyre got punctured.
LIGHTNING had a very easy route to the heat final, flipping Ripper over in seconds. It enters the arena as the favourite.

And they're off! Lightning is quick to make a dash to the side of Kronic. Kronic decides to try and evade its foe, which is probably for the best. The two begin a small evasion process, trying to get underneath the other. But someone will have to give eventually....and after 20 seconds, Kronic nips underneath Lightning...AND FLIPS IT OVER!! Of course, Lightning can self-right, using its side flipper. It rushes away, but is flipped UP, but not over, by Kronic as it retreats! Lightning quickly turns...and NOW gets underneath Kronic the Wedgehog. It drives, trying to get far enough underneath. The flipper activates!....but Kronic is meerly pushed off. This allows Kronic to get back underneath Lightning...and flip it over again! Lightning self-rights, but Kronic is already driving it towards the arena wall....IT FLIPS!!...but Lightning only lands on the arena wall. Kronic comes in...FLIP!!....OH, LIGHTNING, IS JUST FLUNG AWAY! How fortunate. Can Lightning come back into this? Well, yes, it again ploughs into Kronic's side. Kronic, however, gets away, adjusts, gets underneath Lightning....AND FLIPS AGAIN!! Lightning is now on its back against the arena wall once more! Kronic tries to flip it again, but it just isn't powerful enough to throw it out! Lightning is on its wheels again....hang on....is it moving? I know Lightning appears to have had the habit of playing dead before, but Kronic is nudging it quite a bit....I think it really is dead. In both of its previous losses, in the 7th Wars and the Tag Team Terror, it seemed to break down after being flipped around profusely. I think that's happened again! Kronic nudges Lightning out of the way, closer to Growler's CPZ. Refbot approaches...and he is counting Lightning out!

And just like that, Lightning has fallen at the Heat Final again. Growler grabs hold of the blue wedge shaped robot and considers his actions...where's he going to take....oh, he's taken Lightning to the DROP ZONE! I wonder what will be dropped on top of Lightning today? A box opens....OH, AND A BUNCH OF BALLS FALL ON TOP OF LIGHTNING! Well....that was pretty lackluster. I hope they find some better material next time.

For the next heat, I will try and flip Robochicken over, since it has no self righting mechanism. I'll avoid Scorpion because it's disc seems quite capable of doing damage. I was on the edge of my seat hoping Dantomkia didn't have to leave :proud:

Welcome to Heat 5 of Robot Wars: The Legends. Last time, you saw Kronic The Wedgehog short circuit Lightning out of commission. Tonight, sees three former heat finalists aim to go one step further. Will they make it, or will New Blood Heat Finalist Roobarb get in the way? Let's find out.
It's been a long struggle, but we're now halfway through the heats, and four Legendary robots have booked their place in the final. Today, six more robots will be fighting it out to fill another of those places.

FROM DORKING IN SURREY - AGGROBOT
Reached the heat final of its debut series, beating the mighty Razer along the way, but has never had much luck since.
Aggrobot may be small, but it is tough and grizzly. Its armour is difficult to puncture, and its triangular shape makes it hard to grab hold of. The whole front snout can be raised, and the main weapon is a rear clamping jaw that can cut through, amongst other things, road signs. Tough, but maybe not the most reliable...
FROM ENFIELD IN MIDDLESEX - FLUFFY
In the 5th wars, it reached the heat final, but progressively got worse over the next few series.
It may be called Fluffy, but it's far from it. Fluffy is low and invertible, small and compact and has a double-headed spinning axe as its main weapon, which can cause real problems. Its petrol engine gives it good pushing ability, but quite bad reliability.
FROM WEST CRAMMOURE IN SOMERSET - ZORRO
Lost in Round 1 in its debut in Series 7. The team also competed with Ming, with only slightly better success.
Zorro is certainly a machine to watch. Its body is small, but protected by its main weapon...a large three-pronged spinning cage, nicknamed cleavers. It is quite quick across the arena, and the blades look dangerous, but I fear it uses power too easily.

And they're off! Aggrobot heads straight towards Zorro, who's blade is just getting started up. Aggrobot, however, manages to get underneath, evading the cleavers. Aggrobot starts to push, but before it can raise the snout, Zorro slides off, and runs off. Meanwhile, Fluffy's double-headed axe is up to full speed. It moves towards Aggrobot...
BAMM!
OUCH! Aggrobot was thrust aside, and I think one of its toy mascots got torn off! Aggrobot recovers, whilst Zorro's own spinning cleaver is up to speed...
WHAM!!
Straight into the side of Fluffy! There is no obvious damage, though, and Fluffy moves away. But Aggrobot is coming back to Zorro...
CLANG!!
Aggrobot is spun away again! But the blade of Zorro slows slightly, so it beats a retreat! Now Fluffy decides to have a go at Aggrobot!
CRASH!!
Again, no damage to Aggrobot, but the tiny machine is thrust away by the axe! Fluffy makes to persue...but watch out for...
WHAM!!
ZORRO STRIKES FLUFFY HARD IN THE REAR!! That looked like it hurt! Fluffy is spun away, which allows Aggrobot to get underneath it. It slowly begins to lift Fluffy up, but sadly it slips off again! This is surely frustrating for Aggrobot. Fluffy escapes, but it seems a bit more sluggish than before. As if Zorro knocked something loose. Zorro again moves to the side of Aggrobot...
CLANG!!
Aggrobot got struck in the rear claw, and something else broke off! But Aggrobot is turned around, and it again gets underneath Zorro. Now it pushes back....straight towards Matilda's CPZ...flywheel first!!
WHAM!!
OUCH!! ZORRO'S CLEAVER IS DAMAGED! It looks like one of the supporting struts is broken, and a cleaver itself is damaged! Zorro thankfully manages to escape, but the cleaver is no longer spinning, and part of it now hangs limp! Aggrobot sees an oppurtunity and persues. Zorro races across the arena...and hits the pit release button! Desperate times call for desperate measures, but Aggrobot gets underneath it again, and slowly lifts...Zorro is raised onto its side, with only its cleaver preventing it from being overturned....and eventually, Aggrobot has to drop it. Hang on....where's Fluffy? I think Fluffy is in trouble! It doesn't seem to be moving freely, and its axe has stopped spinning! Sir Killalot is suspicious, and he comes out of the CPZ...and grabs hold of Fluffy! Smoke seems to be coming out of Fluffy's body! Meanwhile, Aggrobot has pushed Zorro into an unoccupied CPZ! It lifts up Zorro again. In comes Matilda, flywheel first...
BAMM!!
OH NO!! SHE CLIPS AGGROBOT, AND AGGROBOT GOES FLYING OUT OF THE ARENA!! That's the power of her 27 kilo flywheel!! Zorro tries to limp away, but....
CLANG!!
OW!! Zorro is caught by the flywheel itself, breaking another strut!!
CEASE!!
And the fight has been stopped! And I think it's obvious why. Whilst Aggrobot may have been thrown from the arena, it was by the action of a House Robot when it wasn't immobilised. So, for what the fight is worth, it'll have to go to the judges....

FROM TIVERTON IN DEVON - ROBOCHICKEN
Has fought four times, and once reached the heat final, before losing to Tough As Nails
This machine looks comical, and it is. Basically, its a wedge-shaped chicken, with ballcork eyes and a red rubber glove crest. But don't be fooled. Just under the head is a vertical cutting blade, and the tail acts as a fowl flipper. It is certainly powerful for being comical, but with no srimech, the chicken could be frying tonight...
FROM ENFIELD IN MIDDLESEX - ROOBARB
Reached the heat final of the New Blood championship, but fell early in two UK championships
Roobarb is a high-wedge shaped machine, sporting a holographic purple colouring and sporting a low pressure flipper, which the team claim is better than the high pressure variety. It certainly looks strong, but I don't like the look of that high ground clearance.
FROM FARNHAM IN SURREY - SCORPION
In three UK championships, it has only ever won a single battle.
Scorpion, as an arachnid, is very hard to kill. A box-shaped invertible machine with a spiked wedge at the ground, its main weapon is, of course, the sting in the tail...a vicious looking 3000rpm spinning disc that can get up to speed in about 3 seconds. It can certainly be very destructive, and could well be a dark horse for the Legends Special, but it isn't too reliable.

And the three machines set off for each other. Robochicken heads for Scorpion, but Roobarb is heading for the chicken, gets underneath....AND FLIPS IT OVER STRAIGHT AWAY! And we said right before the fight started that it had no self-righting mechanism. It is trying desperately to right itself, firing the flipper, but it's just not able to knock itself over again. Scorpion moves towards it, and hits the head with its disc...knocking off an eye! Refbot comes in to investigate Robochicken, whilst Roobarb tries its luck with Scorpion...flips it up, but not quite over...OUCH! Scorpion turns into Roobarb and leaves a nasty gash! Refbot, however, as we though, is counting out Robochicken.

And Robochicken is out! Cassius Chrome pushes Robochicken away, onto the floor flipper. I always thought chickens weren't good at flying.....WOAH, THIS ONE ISN'T!! Robochicken gets flung far, but crashes down to earth with a dreadful bang, and loses another eye!

And they're off. Aggrobot dodges to the side, to try and get away from Scorpion's disc. Already, though, the blade is up to speed. It turns to face Aggrobot....

The disc clips Aggrobot's snout and turns it away! Aggrobot manages to get itself back on track, though, and attempts to get under the sides. Up goes its levering arm...but Scorpion slips off...
WHAM!!
OUCH!! The disc hits the little arm! Aggrobot retreats, but....the snout is stuck in the up position! I think the arm is damaged and can no longer retract, effectively stripping it of one of its weapons! There's not much now Aggrobot can do, except run...or maybe try to use its rear claw. But Scorpion isn't having any of it, and follows it as Aggrobot turns...
WHAM!!
And now clips Aggrobot's left wheel!! That's definately hurting poor Aggrobot, who now appears to be turning in circles. Scorpion decides the battle is over, and heads over to hit the pit release button. Aggrobot continues to spin on its odd axis, with its snout still lifted up. Scorpion travels back, gets under it with its front wedge and begins to push Aggrobot towards the pit...and Aggrobot doesn't even put up a fight....DOWN IT GOES! Goodbye, Aggrobot!

OW, that had to hurt! Roobarb is thrust away. Zorro backs off......oh no, it can't be over already! Roobarb isn't moving at all! It does have a bit of a history of being immobilised from heavy hits in the past, and I worry it's happened again. Zorro moves towards it, but the cleaver has been turned off. Refbot comes in to investigate...

And Roobarb is gone! And Mr Psycho is waiting....CRASH! The hammer hits Roobarb on the flipper! Mr Psycho then picks up Roobarb and places it onto the arena floor flipper....flying Rhubarb, anyone?...

And there it goes!! It bounces and rolls, lands on its wheels, but there's no life left in it. Dead Metal takes over the kill, and pushes the carcass of Roobarb onto the flame pit.

Interesting judging system; giving all four categories the same amount of weight. I guess it isn't surprising that under those conditions Fluffy would suffer; it does a fair bit of damage but doesnt excel in any other area.
Well, to be fair, I didn't know exactly how the actual scoring went, so I improvised.
Guys, just so you know, BTW, I know exactly how I want the battles for Heat 6 to go. The main problem is getting them written down. I'm ever so sorry I'm making you wait, but I WILL complete it one way or another.

Never beyond the second round of the heats in three attempts.
This golden wedge shaped machine is one of our oldest competitors. Its main weapon is a powerful flipper that, to this date, has left it the only robot to flip another out of the arena and not make the heat final. Teeth and spikes also add to the weapon synergy. It doesn't have a srimech, though, and it hasn't been the most reliable.
FROM THE ISLE OF SHEPPEY, IN KENT - MAJOR TOM
Never beyond the heats in four seperate wars with three seperate machines.
Formally a garden water barrel and a dodgem car, this is the third incarnation of Major Tom. It is an invertible box wedge shaped robots with two clamping spikes acting as its main weapon. At 4mph, it's slow....too slow.
FROM PRESTON - MEGA HURTS L.T.
This machine has crashed out early in four seperate heats.
The newest incarnation of the Mega Hurts machine is smaller than before. It's a low box shaped machine, with spikes around the outside. The keyboard is a CO2 powered flipper, as is the screen which acts as a srimech. It looks novel, and it's fast, but not very reliable.

3...2...1...ACTIVATE!!
And the three machines move away. Mega Hurts is the quickest of the three, and slams into Major Tom....oops, its head comes off again! It has a reputation for being unable to keep its head. Mega Hurts flips Major Tom over! Luckily, it is invertible, which means flipping won't affect it too much. General Carnage gets underneath Mega Hurts' suspect ground clearance and flips it over! Mega Hurts quickly self-rights and tries persuing Major Tom, but General Carnage is insistant on getting rid of Mega Hurts, and flips it over again. Mega Hurts attempts to self-right, with less luck this time. General Carnage slides underneath....AND FLIPS IT RIGHT OUT OF THE ARENA!! That's the end of Mega Hurts! Major Tom survives without doing a sausage!!

sorry I haven't been replying to this :( predictable fight but well done nonetheless :)
You'd THINK I'd be able to FINISH a tournament.....over a month and nothing.....good lord. ><
If this gets me anywhere, I'll skip the intros entirely. Use your imagination, it'll be easier. :)

3...2...1...ACTIVATE!!
The three break from their positions. Corkscrew dodges away to attempt to get up to speed. Big Nipper persues, Suicidal Tendencies is a little slower to react. Corkscrew 2 gets its blade spinning up, whilst the crusher robots come into contact with each other. Big Nipper, however, manages to dodge away from Suicidal Tendencies crusher before it can come down! Corkscrew drives into the side of Suicidal Tendencies.
WHAM!
A meaningful hit, but no damage caused at all. And it looks to me like the blade has ground to a stop. Big Nipper drives underneath Suicidal Tendencies and attempts to lift it, but the tracked robot evades capture. Corkscrew, meanwhile, drives towards the arena wall, as Suicidal Tendencies drives into it again, scoop first! Corkscrew 2 manages to drive off the scoop before the crusher can be bought into play, but it drives into the arena wall by mistake, and now Big Nipper enters the fray, and gets its claws underneath Corkscrew's blade. It manages to lift....and one of the claws manages to get hooked in the frame of Corkscrew's blade! But Suicidal Tendencies also drives towards Big Nipper, and brings down its claw....RIGHT INTO BIG NIPPER!! THE THREE MACHINES ARE NOW LOCKED TOGETHER IN MORTAL COMBAT!! Who has control over this? Suicidal Tendencies by the looks of things! It manages to drive the other two machines, Corkscrew still attached to Big Nipper's claws, whilst Big Nipper trying to pull away, into the pit release button! The pit decends, as Suicidal Tendencies forces the two towards the pit! Big Nipper, hanging over the edge, tries to lower its claws....and as it does so, Corkscrew just about slips off and falls into the pit, followed by Big Nipper moments later as Suicidal Tendencies lets go!
