Thanks everyone got Mike's number.
Good news Mike has managed to sort out some motors for the robot, so when I get and fit them the project will be back on course :D :D :D
Thanks Mike
The motors have arrived from Mike this morning I have replaced one of the gearboxes for a new one supplied (thanks Mike) and stripped the other unit down and reversed the output shaft to the opposite hand.

When the new sprockets come they will be machined to fit. :D

Some pictures of the pod covers and the chain drive with the new motors because the final drive from the new motors is slower I have fitted a 25tooth sprocket to compensate

There is loads of stuff to do on it, but
IT WALKS!!! IT WALKS!!! IT WALKS!!!
nice one craig
well done
video time.....
I see that it's working then... :)
Had some problems getting the video thing to load
Firstly the robot has only just been finished and is running on just 12V instead of the 24V it will run on so it is a little slow plus it is in the lowest gearing for the transmission plus the feet have not been made so it is walking on wheels!!! So it looks like it is trying to run on ball bearings!!!

Thats awsome. Very nice
That is very awesome, sounds a bit clunky mind you :P
That is immense Craig - great effort 8)
Thanks guys, Dave the clunk noise comes from the wheels they are very loose I will fix them next, then to stiffen the legs a bit. But I was very happy it went at all for the first attempt :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:
Now on 24V the wheels locked up turns quite well!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9uwKM4dCNA
The legs get even more hypnotic when they're all going at once :P Really good job Craig, hope you can get a lot of promoting done with it (it'll certainly get peoples' attention, heh)
Craig
Only got one word to say MAGIC !!!!!!
wot did the neighbors think ???
Mine think im crazy,,,,they are not far wrong !!
Cheers Froggy
Yep they think I'm crazy but harmless,
I'm glad you like it, it took just over 4 months of hard slog to get this far but I think it was worth it, now we need some more people to make some more walkers and we have a new sub section to the forum.
Will you be taking Arac2 to Portsmouth this weekend? Would be great to see you and it again. :D
Hi craig
Would love to go to Portsmouth with Arac....but my lift has kinda fallen thru
Next chance will be Maidstone
Cheers Froggy
So sorry to hear that you can't make it.
Perhaps someone reading this thread will be able to help, but if not then I hope to see you at Maidstone and put on Arac€™s running shoes we can have that race!
both of the walkers are looking amazing and massive lol, just looking at craigs walkers legs- it must have taken absoultly ages to get all the pieces cut for those legs.
will look forward to seeing both of them one day:)
I will probably be taking The Pilgrim to Portsmouth, if that is ok with the Roaming Robots Team, I don't know if it will have the pod covers made by then but the rest seems to be ok.
Anyone want a drive?
It had to happen!! :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB4frHEMdYc
Craig I would love to take you up on the offer thanks. :D
Perhaps I could return the kind thought with a drive of Stagefright in return.
Good Idea you can run Tron and i can run Stagefright it might be kinder to me :uhoh: :uhoh:
woooo , really looking forward o seeing that go tomorrow :)
That machine is even cooler in the metal :) Thanks for letting me take it for a walk craig :)
No prob's Dave I hope to take it to Reading. did anyone video it at Portsmouth.
that thing was beautiful, and it drives really well , almost like a wheeled vehicle
hey
glad to hear it went well, it looks amazing :)
il be going to reading, and will be having a good look at it :)
i also recently designed a walking mech on c.a.d and it looked pretty cool so i gave it a go in lego (gotta love lego :D) and it worked really well :) a antweight version will be made soon and hopefully i may make it into a feather if that works well....after that...who knows? we might be having a walker battle craig
and all the other walkers inthis thread look awsome :)
il post pics of mine :)
keep on walking
jack
Just to keep you all up to speed on the walker.
Good news the covers have been made for the two pods they have been made from 2mm aluminium floor plate with that grip pattern on them they look very nice. :proud: :proud:
Now the not so good news the sabertooth speed controller has blown. :uhoh: :uhoh:
I have sent an email to Ian from Team Big brother, to see if i could have one of his new Wotty 100 speed controllers.
Well seeing as it's a true walking system(ala Jim Struts, Clawed Hopper, etc.) why don't you up it's weight to 200kg and give it a big spinning shell? That'll show us Americans that we're not the king at building spinners...Quote:

Regarding the idea of the pilgrim being used for combat I don't think so it's too fragile!
By the way I think the team that built and runs warhead (the best spinner on earth), are the old razor team from the UK.  :proud: :proud:
