Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
REVISED TACTICS:
Okay, both of our robots are invertible. That's fair. The downside for me is that I don't have an active weapon, which is okay. The upsides for me are tougher armor, 0 ground clearance at front and back due to my scoops, and better pushing ability. I will not give him a chance to get under either the sides, and will keep the front or back towards him at all times. I will still try to exploit the side and rear ground clearance, and use my pushing ability to ram him around and into the pit. Once again...
Quote:
If I feel that I can't push him in without suffering major damage/being pitted myself, I'll shove him into one of the house robots. Only after I feel he's been worn down to near-immobilization will I pit him.
Reposting so you don't forget.

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Finally, we see the end of Round 1! Let's get it over with!
Eliminator 8
Minesweeper 1.1 vs. Next Stop, Jupiter
Minesweeper 1.1 is a vapourbot by Mark Elam...question is, will it sweep away the competition, or itself be swept away? Box shaped, invertible, 4WD, and bare bones tough. Quad S28-400 MagMotors power it, and it's armoured in a 5.5mm Hardox monocoque. The main weapons are the front and rear scoops, freely hinged and can work invertibly. However, they don't really do any physical damage, and invertible scoops aren't exactly the most leveraging of weapons...
Next Stop, Jupiter is the bassa' child of Phrizbee and Hexadecimator, and actual son of retired bot Thanatos. Basically a Warrior SKF clone with Hardox and Ti/V armour and Bosch motors powering an invertible 4WD. The trademark rim-powering-flipper set-up is there too, on par with the actual Warrior SKF's power levels. However, being a clone, it shares Warrior's weaknesses: the flipper can't work if the rim won't work, and it's relatively unstable.
Roboteers, stand by...
House robots: King Leer, Hexadecimal
3...
2...
1...
ACTIVATE!
Here goes nothing, eh? The last two are willing to give it all, and right off Minesweeper is across the arena, bashing into the incoming NSJ, but unfortunately for Mark NSJ's own momentum and great leverage advantage has its flipper easily defeat the invertible scoop of Minesweeper, and Samuel wastes no time in tossing Mark's bot onto its head...in a 540! Even less fortunately for Mark he lands side-on to NSJ, who proceeds to get under Minesweeper again and launches it across the arena! Being invertible, Minesweeper will always land on its wheels, and proves so by spinning about, but Samuel has scored quite a few points early on and Mark has to catch up quickly, should it go to a judges decision! Minesweeper hurriedly moves back in, and deftly swerves around another charge from NSJ, so getting to the sides of it, but in doing so is greeted by the spinning rim, which cuts into the scoop!
CRASH!!!
And Minesweeper is sent spinning away, straight over the saws which pop up and - BZZT! - cut into the underbelly! Doesn't seem to have done much damage, however, and Minesweeper moves in again. This time, NSJ can't get enough speed to power under Minesweeper and the scoop bashes into the flipper; neither can get under, but Minesweeper's power advantage comes into play alarmingly fast, pushing Samuel's machine back, and into King Leer's CPZ! The powerful house robot pushes back, catches the rim with its wedge and deflects NSJ onto said wedge, pushing it back into Minesweeper. Minesweeper is forced back by Leer's immense drivetrain prowess, but keeps pushing itself against NSJ, unwilling to leave it alone should NSJ escape the king of the DarkZlayerz. Hexadecimal watches greedily from her CPZ as King Leer pushes both robots all the way across the arena towards her CPZ, and Mark realizes what's going to happen, before it does! ...or does it? No! To Mark's intense relief, he is able, just barely able, to extract Minesweeper's scoop from against NSJ's side and scoot his robot away, as King Leer reaches the CPZ of the chaotic queen! Samuel watches on in horror...oh this can't be good!
CRASH!!!
A monumental CRASH later and NSJ is blasted onto King Leer's front by Hex's deadly blades, landing directly on top of the wedge of Leer, in a shower of sparks; Minesweeper waits eagerly nearby, but apparently no damage has been done to NSJ, either...however that doesn't help its situation right now! King Leer's blades can't reach right in front of him, but NSJ is pegged in there and he's helpless! Possibly assured by Samuel's frightful position, Mark goes after the pit release and hits it, lowering the pit, then comes back. But during this Leer has slammed NSJ further into Hexadecimal's CPZ, and Hex is lifting NSJ off the wedge...and he's away! Minesweeper is thus met with a colossal ram to the scoop; such momentum is carried by Samuel's robot and it easily gets under Minesweeper...and he flips Minesweeper, though not as high as Samuel hoped due to NSJ's rim not fully spun up. And this works in Mark's favour as Minesweeper recovers quickly and rams into NSJ before the latter can lower its flipper...and now the pit is in line! A determined gleam in Mark's eyes, he guns Minesweeper's motors to their highest output and pushes NSJ back! NSJ tries to turn backwards but it's too late and NSJ goes over the side edge of the pit, just enough so that it falls in moments later! Perhaps it's the shock of actually winning its match, but Minesweeper drives in moments later! :proud:
CEASE!
Next Stop...well actually, there ain't no more stops for you besides the pit, Samuel. :proud:
Minesweeper 1.1 advances to Round 2!

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Well well well, we have 8 competitors, and 4 spots left into the semi-finals. Let's see who'll fight for those 4 spots, shall we? ;)
Round 2
Gabriel V vs. Qwertyuiop
Minesweeper 1.1 vs. Envy
Mornington Crescent vs. Monsoon Season
Apocalypse II vs. Under Pressure
Tactics, predictions, the usual. :)
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Well, that was unexpected...
Gabriel V vs. Qwertyuiop
Gabriel V. Qwertyuiop, though it beat Lethal Weapon, will lose here.
Minesweeper 1.1 vs. Envy
W00T!!! I won my first fight!!! Against a good robot!!! In a Kody Kunz Mini-Tourney!!!
Anyways, my plan will be to get underneath the back of Envy. The shape's a lot like Firestorm, so there is an area at the back where I can get in. If he flips me, my other scoop will prevent him from getting under me again. Press the pit release button, shove the machine into the house robots, and after he's seriously damaged, pit him.
Good luck, Shane.
Mornington Crescent vs. Monsoon Season
I'll say Mornington Crescent. With 2 rims, 1 has to hit Monsoon whenever he tries to get in.
Apocalypse II vs. Under Pressure
Probably Apocalypse. However, if Under Pressure can get underneath at the beginning, then Martijn will win.
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
To get to the rear of envy is difficult in itself as envy has a very good powerful drive and will always face its opponent... to get under the front of envy is also difficult too as 80% of envys weight is in front of the wheels. your invertable wedges will only hug the floor under their own weight so envy will win the war of getting under the robot... You will be flipped to the edge and oota. If by some miracle you do get under the front of Envy you will have to lift it quite high to lift its wheels off the ground....envy will simply reverse off. I predict an Easy win for Envy Mr Elam. :)
Oh and good luck
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
*Cough*Are those supposed to be tactics?*Cough*
And let me remind you that your Powerful drive isn't powerful in the world of vapours. And that I will use my super-powerful drive to ram you into a house robot. And that I will watch in glee as your 3.25mm hardox is seriously damaged by whatever house robot there is. And that I will press the pit release button and shove you down. And they're invertible scoops. And you're only making those statements since you've fought realies that don't have the super-drive, super-armour, and super pushing power that Minesweeper 1.1 has(18hp to 6 hp).
And I wish you good luck also.
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
With all due respect (or lack thereof), Mark, you may not realize this but your above post was extremely arrogant and ignorant.
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Ahhhhhhhh Mr Elam you seem to think i know nothing of vapourbots. you dream on about your s28 mags....they are simply not made for heavyweight robots.....in the real world c40 300 are better than the s28. Equate that to the world of vapour then surly the c40 would be the better more powerful drive....add everything else i have said and your on a looser on every count.
good luck Mr Elam
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
My apologies to Shane, Kody, and anyone else offended by that.
REVISED TACTICS:
Major Points:
Minesweeper 1.1:
4x 24 S28-400 = 18hp
6mm Hardox
2 9mm Hardox scoops
Envy:
2x C40-300 = 7.6hp
3.25mm Hardox
Co2 low-pressure flipper
According to this, I have more horsepower and tougher armour then he does, but he has an active weapon. I will use my 18hp of drive to shove him into a house robot, and watch in glee as (Insert house robot name here) damages his armor. I will open the pit release button while he's damaged and will shove him into the pit the moment he exits the CPZ. I will use my superior HP to ram him around the arena if he refuses to go down, and I will hope that something breaks. If something does, then I will pit the crippled realie and relax.
Gloat/Make excuses depending on outcome. :proud:
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Its hard to explain but your super doooooper18hp drive is next to useless.......remember you only have 100kg of weight. 18hp will simply wheelspin. there is not enough weight to get the power to the floor. the c40 geared like i have will have all the low end torque to out push your wheelspinning robot all day. Thats if your s28 dont overheat and burn out. and thats if my front end doesnt get onder your light weight thingies you have which it will. how can you out push envy if you are riding up my scoop. Flip.....bye bye Mr Elam.
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
If the S28-400 had a habit of burning out, people would've stopped using it quite a while ago.
That said, other half decent motors used in fanfic include the LEM-130(36v), PERM 80(24v/36v), and the Bosch 750(36v) or Litton 800(36v).
And let's just screw the argument and finish it in the arena. I don't want us continually screwing up Kody's thread.
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
It might have slipped your mind that Shane is an experienced roboteer who has built many heavyweights, and that HE KNOWS MORE THAN WE DO ABOUT MOTORS AND THEIR BEHAVIOUR IN ROBOT APPLICATIONS :P
You are arguing yourself into a corner that you can't get out of here Mark, I'd advise you reconsider your position...

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Alright I've had about enough of this. Take this to PMs, please, or better yet just STOP. Thank you.
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
hmm Under Pressure is a tough draw...
The plan is to flip/lift it over ASAP, but then don't flip it back. From then on just play it like Storm II vs. TAN, driving underneath and pushing it around, the barbs will help here. Don't try and flip it out of the arena unless an exceptional opportunity appears, settle for the pit.
Good luck Martijn! :)
As for the other fights I think Gabriel, not sure about the second match and Monsoon Season will advance :)

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
you guys crack me up! im gone 5 minuits and mark starts anouther argument
but seirious times now, mark shane is right, end of
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Martijn says:
OK!
I attack the sides!
so the crusher will pierce the front and the rear!
Kody says:
YES
DO
Martijn says:
I have 2WD, he has 2WD, it is possible!
Kody says:
Martijn says:
YES WE CAN!
MOVE TO THE SIDES, THE CRUSHER WILL DAMAGE THE ROUNDED REAR
AND THE FLIPPER!
THE FLIPPER!
Kody says:
YES
Martijn says:
anyhow, go for the sides, pit
and even if he flips me Im still a crusher
Kody says:
w00t
Martijn says:
just not one that can get underneath
but neither is TaN!
or Kan Opener!
Kody says:
Your claws are at a disadvantage though
They're highly fine pointed
Martijn says:
so even if flipped I will continue this tactic, my claws can still close in on him
Kody says:
and Apocalypse's front, sides, and rear are all angled.
Martijn says:
his rear isnt
Kody says:
I'll check the stats later on then
Martijn says:
his rear isnt but it has a skirt
my claws scrape along the ground so I cant really see why they couldnt get under wedges though, they are pushed to the ground by the mass of the claws, and Im pretty sure thats more than the mass of the skirts
so I should do fine
but even when inverted, my inverted claw can clamp his rounded rear
and pit! pit! pit!
and damage
Kody says:
lol kk
Please post that for me, I'm on my parents computer and messages aren't saved, so I may very likely forget
Martijn says:
... you tell me that now?!
couldnt you have told me that before my epic story?!xD
Kody says:
No.
THOSE SHALL BE MY TACTICS!!! GOOD LUCK LIAM!

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Since I have tactics from both Joey and Nav (Nav put in surprisingly detailed tactics, tbqh. Not ARC-sized, but still... :P) ...Round 2 shall be kicked off! :D
Round 2
Fight 1
Gabriel V vs. Qwertyuiop
Roboteers, stand by...
House robots: Renegade and Asterix Anarchius
3...
2...
1...
ACTIVATE!
And off we go! It's a speedy start as both opponent come flying in, but Qwertyuiop makes a last split-second swerve, and Gabriel ends up ramming air. Before Joey can rectify his mistake, Navaha swerves his machine back around and under the rear of Gabriel! Not ready to flip Gabriel over just yet, Navaha implements his strategy and heads for Renegade's CPZ. Once he gets near enough, Qwertyuiop tosses Gabriel into the CPZ, directly on top of the big house robot! Almost coming into close quarters with Renegade himself, Qwertyuiop backs away to just beyond the edge of the CPZ and waits patiently as Gabriel, stuck upside-down on Renegade at an absurd angle, tries to right itself. It sort of works, as Gabriel is self-righted, but is now stuck on Renegade's side, the wheels unable to touch ground! Qwertyuiop hurries to cover that edge of the CPZ as Renegade turns and bullies Gabriel against the CPZ, bringing the axe into play...or trying to, but the shaft hits one of the ears and is stopped. Seeing this, Navaha directs Qwertyuiop into the CPZ and flips Gabriel, still high-centered, further back into the CPZ, again on its back now. A sudden WHAM tells us that Asterix Anrchius has left his own CPZ and has crashed into Qwertyuiop from behind! Sandwiched between the two house robots, Qwertyuiop tries to toss Renegade out of the way. It doesn't work, and now Renegade is turning its attention to Qwertyuiop, or trying to, but the flipper is in the way! None of these problems can compete with Gabriel's, however. Joey tries to self-right again and again but Gabriel's pegged unceremoniously against the wall and can't use the srimech properly! Finally Qwertyuiop escapes the plight and Renegade turns its attention back to Gabriel, but Asterix isn't quite done with Navaha's creation yet and goes after it! Not to be a killjoy or anything, Asterix, but you can't wander out of your CPZ to attack someone who's NOT currently in a CPZ! :proud: As to confirm this, The Watcher bumps Asterix and gives him...oh ho ho ho, a yellow card! Haven't seen one of those in a while! :proud: You'd better get back to your CPZ, my Gaulish fiend!
Qwertyuiop, meanwhile, is continuing to prowl the edge of the CPZ that Gabriel is trapped in, and Joey's in a huge amount of trouble! Not only is Gabriel on its back, an axe has found its way into the underside thanks to Renegade! The claws of the mighty house robot, however, can't seem to find anything on Gabriel to grasp properly. Joey waits for Renegade's axe to retract, then tries self-righting again. It works, but again Gabriel is in the arms of the house robot, who brings the axe down once more! This time it hits the Hardox side, but doesn't do much to it. Qwertyuiop moves back into the CPZ slowly, Navaha expecting Joey to get free anytime now...and finally, Renegade backs off a bit, allowing Gabriel to slam back down onto the ground! Qwertyuiop rams it, but the nose cone, even after all that, is up to maximum capabilities, and Gabriel starts to shove Qwertyuiop out of the CPZ. Qwertyuiop's LEM's kick in and he pushes back. Renegade can't believe that Gabriel is still in the CPZ, and goes after him again. The shunt is all that Qwertyuiop needs, and it turns the nose cone aside, allowing Renegade to pin Gabriel to the wall. Only for the moment, however, as Renegade doesn't get fully under Gabriel and Joey is barely able to push the house robot away. Seemingly all for naught, however, as Navaha sees yet another golden opporunity and attacks Gabriel's side. He manages to slide under the side skirt and under the main body, but can't get a proper flip because Renegade is partly on top of Gabriel, so he keeps pushing. Down comes Renegade's axe again, but barely denting the armour and Qwertyuiop succeeds in pushing Gabriel out from under the house robot and...keeps pushing him? Strategy, perhaps? Yes indeed! Gabriel's being pushed straight towards one of the Discs of Death! Hold your breath, folks!
CRASH!!!
Oh how sad! One of the ears got it! And now it's nearly been torn right off! It's also nearly freed Gabriel from Qwertyuiop's flipper, but Navaha sees his control fading and decides to toss Gabriel over. Joey immediately self-rights but Navaha is right there as Gabriel lands and Qwertyuiop is under it again! He pushes Gabriel across the arena again...and back towards Renegade's CPZ! Dear me, the house robot must be a happy fellow today! :proud: Qwertyuiop tosses Gabriel once more into the CPZ, and again on top of the house robot. Only this time, Qwertyuiop goes straight for the pit release afterwards. Gabriel self-rights but is again stuck in Renegade's clutches. The axe comes down as Renegade pins Gabriel to the wall and starts smacking away with the axe! By now, Qwertyuiop has opened the pit and returned to the scene of slaughter, and Renegade doesn't look like letting up...until now. Renegade backs off and allows Gabriel to go free, but the angled sides look a bit battered from all that axeing and Gabriel jets out...only to be met by Qwertyuiop and brought to a halt! ...but look! Finally, Gabriel's nose cone defeats the flipper of Qwertyuiop and gets under it, allowing Gabriel to push Qwertyuiop about! Unfortunately, the awkward shape sends Qwertyuiop onto Gabriel's angled side, and Gabriel can't push him properly...seeing this, Joey tries firing the flipper. It works as Joey hoped; Qwertyuiop splats onto the floor inverted. It rights itself, but Gabriel coming in back gets under again and shoves it across the arena...towards the pit! But just as Joey ups the 'oomph' in Gabriel's motors, Qwertyuiop fires its own flipper and the force from this and from Gabriel's own charge sends Navaha's bot back over Joey's with a noisy clatter! Joey is so shocked at this he nearly drives into the pit himself! But Gabriel stops just short of the pit, and turns to face its opponent...which comes right at it, bumping into the nose cone and pushing with all its might...and succeeds in getting a very thunderstuck Gabriel V into the pit of oblivion! Last minute comeback denied...what a nearly one-sided upset this was!
CEASE!
Gabriel V is sent back to Hell as Joey wanders back home in polite disbelief. :proud:
Qwertyuiop advances to Round 3!
Next battle: Minesweeper 1.1 vs. Envy
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Sorry, had some trouble with my account, but I'm back now.
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Well, with Envy's 2 wheels he'll be more maneuverable then me. I'll have more pushing power, but he'll be able to outmaneuver me if I try to get around to his side. Therefore, I'll ram him from the front. Hopefully I'll drive right over the top of Envy, and use the brief second to get under the back and ram into him. If this doesn't work, attack Envy at the sides, and wait for him to run out of gas. Overall, since neither of us has a damaging weapon, the damage category isn't really important. Overall, be aggressive and controlled.

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Fight 2
Minesweeper 1.1 vs. Envy
Roboteers, stand by...
House robots: Count Bleck, Damocles
3...
2...
1...
ACTIVATE!
Envy is off the mark (oh ho ho) immediately, and Minesweeper comes out to greet him. Mark's tactic doesn't quite work out as well as he planned, as both robots bang into each other and come to a halt, and then Envy's leverage and front weight advantages get the better of Minesweeper; Envy easily gets under the front scoop of Minesweeper, beaching it on the wedge for a bit. Not wasting any time, Envy shoots straight into Damocles' CPZ and using the flipper flings Minesweeper straight into the house robot before Mark can drive off.
CRASH! CRASH!!!
Now that's a sight for sore eyes, and a rare sight indeed! Minesweeper, flung into the CPZ, almost went overtop of the house robot but the rear scoop caught the front drum of Damocles and nearly got torn right off; the blow did, however, send Minesweeper into one of the side drums, sending Minesweeper flying along the wall with several scratches running down the side! Mark gapes at the sight, but before he can make a move, Shane is right there, Envy collecting Minesweeper on the wedge and flinging it back into the CPZ, over top of the two unspinning drums but into the rear one!
CRASH!!!
And that's the match gone!!! Ah, the benefits of having four separate drums, eh Damocles? :proud: The rear drum did indeed come into play here...only it sent Minesweeper straight over the fence and crashing onto the camera tracks, further scratched! Indeed, a drum dishing out over 150kJ can do that to you. :proud: Sadly, the house robot has determined the entire fight and Shane, feeling robbed of a good fight, intends to make him pay! The English robot gets under the front immobile drum and sweeps under the house robot, signalling the rage of our very own Count Bleck, who spins over! The audience's boos at such a short fight now turn to cheers as Envy tries to flip Damocles, but no one can attack now...because:
CEASE!
Minesweeper gets bombed and swept away! Thankfully Mark can still take it home in one piece. :proud:
Envy advances to Round 3!
Next battle: Mornington Crescent vs. Monsoon Season

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
It might be just me, but I don't think house robots are supposed to totally decide who wins the fight, plus I feel causing that to happen was just a lazy excuse to get me out...
But either ways, congrats, Shane. I have a couple of things to do to Minesweeper 4 now...

It's okay. No matter how lazy Kody is when it comes to cheaply knocking me out of a tournament, he knows when I'm gonna go after him, and when I'll back down. This is a case in which I'll back down as long as he or someone else doesn't throw me a shry remark.

There is only one person uncivil at the moment. If it is me, please do explain. :uhoh:
EDIT: Explained by Joey over MSN. Meh, whatever. I would like some tactics from Steve and Dan before I write the next fight.
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Many a robot has lost due to the house robots. isnt that what they are there for. And indeed a good hit would put a robot oota. Remember exterminator. :)
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
I know, house robots nowadays are a rather cheap excuse to take the good robot out of the competition by blatantly exiting their CPZs and attacking the winning robot. An example would be Killertron vs Splinter vs Aggrobot, in which Killalot blatantly left his CPZ, picked up Killertron, and pitted it.
But then again, Shane, you are seeing more success then you saw in Robot Wars, and you essentially beat Tornado on steroids...
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Right, if anybody sees Steve or Dan online, I'd like tactics please, so please bug them please. Yes I am well aware I said please 4 times, including just now. :P
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
I'm sorry, Kody. Did you want something? :P
Mornington Crescent has beaten Monsoon Season before, but it wasn't easy. The best thing I can do is to stay mobile, avoid that nasty flipper and do my best to outmanouevre it while I get both rings spun out. Wheels beat tracks there, after all. With luck I'll be able to land a few good blows on the sides and rear (maybe even the flipper itself if it's misfired or I feel particularly foolish) and recreate Hypno Disc's fight with Atomic - i.e. tear Monsoon a new one. :proud:
-
Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
I did indeed. :P But that you have cured, Steve. :) And so has Daniel via MSN. Epic fight time! :P
Fight 3
Mornington Crescent vs. Monsoon Season
Roboteers, stand by...
House robots: Hexadecimal, Asterix Anarchius
3...
2...
1...
ACTIVATE!
And out comes Monsoon Season being the first to react, charging towards his opponent, guns a'blazin'! Mornington Crescent is quick to avoid it though and scoots out of the way, sending the Monsoon careening almost into the arena wall. However, Steve's not fully spun Mornington Crescent's rings up yet, so...he's in trouble. :proud: Monsoon Season turns about swiftly and charges again, and this time just manages to clip the bottom ring of Mornington Crescent. The blow is mediocre in terms of quality, though, but nonetheless it turns Monsoon Season aside a bit and gives Mornington Crescent another chance to spin up. That he does, and is now at full speed...but with Monsoon Season's overall slanted shape, I'm afraid that the top spinning ring is about as useful as Darke Destroyer's chisel-like blades. :proud: Daniel turns his machine about again and tries to stick his robot's ramming plate in, but that damned ring spinner of Steve's is just too swift to catch; thus, Monsoon Season ends up completely blowing by Mornington Crescent again in a Welsh blur! The Scotsman moves in to make a blur of his own!
CRASH!!!
It's not so much a blur as it is a bestiaI scarring, but there's absolutely no denying it's a mark of war, and the force of the attack smashes Monsoon Season across the arena and nearly into the arena wall, having a huge rip in its rear panel! The grip of its tracks manages to keep it steady, but so great was the shock of that blow that Monsoon Season is momentarily stunned! Mornington Crescent however has taken some recoil as well as it's sitting near the floor flipper now instead of the middle of the arena, but by the time Monsoon Season's able to get its positioning back, Mornington Crescent's off and spinning again. Furious, Monsoon Season shoots across the arena in a black/green jet of colour, barely avoiding the arena saws, but again Mornington Crescent's superior manoeuvrability and almost equal speed to his opponent's, gets the better of Monsoon Season, which results in Mornington Crescent scooting around the rampage fast as his 4WD can propel him, and Monsoon Season nearly driving into the wall once more! Before Daniel can rectify his mistake, Steve makes a trip to Monsoon Season's other side!
CRASH!!!
Well, you can't break HDPE, but you can certainly scar it up even with a thickness that vast, as Mornington Crescent has just proved! However the force of the blows has again sent BOTH robots flying, Mornington Crescent farther, across the arena, and that's against a slanted side...such power in a 100cm x 20cm package...shocking, innit? :proud: Anyway, there's a massive gash down the side of Monsoon Season, to rival that of the one on his rear, but Mornington Crescent isn't able to fully cut through the armour, it being absurdly thick, so Daniel's much in the game still. He directs his robot across the arena, and it zooms over and smacks Mornington Crescent, hard, with the wedge. Steve was unable to get away that time and the resulting blow on Monsoon Season's ramming plate is wholly deflected away, sending the ring spinner flying across the arena in a flash of white! Thirsty for blood, the Welsh flipper pursues. Steve moves to evade again but forgets the arena saws are in the way and accidentally drives right over them...BZZT! Sparks litter the arena. Steve doesn't have time to recollect his wits before 110kg of massive black and green box wedge catapults into his precious ring spinner a second time, driving it fully onto the wedge, and takes it all the way to the arena wall! And hey! Would you look at that, the upper ring of Mornington Crescent is still spinning aimlessly! :proud: Just before Monsoon Season reaches the wall, the flipper activates, tossing Mornington Crescent up, up, and...AND IT'S OVER! Mornington Crescent is out of the arena and HEY! Well...it flew out of the arena still spinning its upper ring, which immediately took out the polycarb wall beyond, on contact! You bet your arse that Steve'll be payin' for that later! Oh what an insult to injury! The house bots look on, forlorn. Such a shame, eh?
CEASE!
Mornington Crescent...take a detour, if you please. :O

Quite a start from both bots as they come flying straight at each other! The competitors' odds are even...quite the contradiction, no? :proud: But it's Liam who strikes first, avoiding the claws, striking the middle of Under Pressure and tossing it! Unfortunately, it just sends the crusher flying, not quite flipping it. Under Pressure lands with a clatter but Apocalypse is back in its face, and takes it to the arena wall, pinning it on the wedge. Strangely stuck in a downward angle, Under Pressure tries closing the claws but they're not flush with the ground now and they merely go over Apocalypse's sides. Liam decides this is a perfect opportunity to strike and fires the flipper again; Martijn's bot flies almost terminal, ungraciously crashes onto the arena barrier and falls back in, only on top of Apocalypse! Well...not quite. One of the wheels is stuck on the barbs on the right side of Apocalypse, but the other is stuck in the air, the proportioned claw hugging the floor and keeping the wheel hovering. Under Pressure tries to get off the barbs, but it's way too late for that; Apocalypse turns and attacks, and is finally, finally able to get the right leverage to slide just under the crusher's front and send Under Pressure onto its back! With its weaponry largely nullified, Under Pressure plays the brave soldier and goes after Apocalypse, who returns the favour by smashing into him again, and starts pushing him towards the arena wall. But before Apocalypse can do this, he stops. ...aha! Under Pressure's claws have got him! But how? Well the finely pointed tips have slid under Apocalypse, trapping him! The tide seems to have turned! Liam never expected this, but tries to use the barbs-on-lifters to get away, but no go, I'm afraid! Martijn, wanting to get this over with quickly as possible, goes straight for the pit release button, and slams into it. With the pit opened, Liam panics a bit and fires the flipper...well hey, what do you know, he's free! The flipper was against the main body and pushing the flipper against it sent Apocalypse through the claws and back into play!
Martijn isn't too happy about this and opens the claws in a heartbeat, but Apocalypse is already gunning around the uber-crusher and trying to find an opening! Under Pressure spins about, trying to keep its claws facing its enemy but its manoeuvrability is inferior to that of Apocalypse, who eventually manages to sneak under the side of one of the claws and drive it into King Leer's CPZ. The blades of the vile house robot slam down, hardly doing any damage, but it's scored points for Liam should a judges decision await. Martijn doesn't intend it to go to a judges decision and gets away from the house robot, but only for Liam to slam him back in there! And this time, King Leer pins Under Pressure against the wall and hammers him! Well it doesn't do too much to 3.5mm Hardox, but it's aggravating at the very least! Apocalypse simply watches from outside of the CPZ as Under Pressure gets pounded and pounded, until finally the big king lets the crusher go...and Apocalypse shoves him right...oho! Not this time, Liam! Under Pressure was able to turn just in time to catch Apocalypse as it gunned towards the Dutch robot's side, and now the lower claws have gotten underneath Apocalypse and lifted him up again! And this time, Apocalypse's flipper isn't against the body of Under Pressure, so he can't throw himself out of the clutches! The barbs try to lift away but no good either, and so Under Pressure carries Apocalypse over to the pit...abandoning all pretence Liam fires the flipper again and manages to free himself, but far too late, he's halfway over the pit by now and Under Pressure's continued momentum is enough to get Liam's robot and all his hopes down into the pit.
CEASE!
Apocalypse? Maybe in another 2 years, Liam.

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
I cant really see any difficulty here. it is a very nice robot indeed BUT it reminds me of fighting kan opener. which i always seem to beat. anyway my front end should slice between them pincers and straight under for maximun flippage. i will play with this robot as i am feeling cocky. no ootas just many flips. if its stacked i will leave it. but to pit it would be nice to take the P.

Well what I wish to do is take control of Envy, the nature of the claws is so that once I got him, his wheels are off the ground, start off aggressive and quick because I dont want him to turn on the aggression. Get in the position where my claws surround him, close them in, pit him
success shane!

And now it's on! The first semi-final! Envy's blown across the arena in an instant, hoping to get between and past the claws before Under Pressure can close them, and Martijn has barely started to move his own robot yet. And there it is, the collision..oh no! Under Pressure closed its claws too early! What does this mean? It means that Envy has flown under the lower claws and completely under Under Pressure, and Martijn's alarmed at this, yes indeed! There's no escape as Envy hurtles Under Pressure across the arena and activates its famed front-hinged flipper, throwing the horizontal crusher onto its back in an instant, and it's now against the wall with its claws! Definitely not a good start for Martijn, but it gets worse! Envy is trying to get Under Pressure over the fence, or at least stack it! He's not having much luck though; every time the flipper pops open, Under Pressure bobs up, and then comes down on the flipper. Shane is enjoying this very much, making a chuckle of amusement whenever Under Pressure is popped. It happens again, but during this particular pop-up, Under Pressure lands in between the wedge and flipper before the flipper could close! Waving this aside, Shane figures he's got Martijn right where he wants him and heads for the pit release button. Futilely, Under Pressure tries to close its claws and the lower ones grasp around the flipper panel, but are unable to squeeze it. He does, however, get the pit release button, as he's pushed into it by Envy! Even those wedgy bits of Under Pressure's are penetrating the 'armour' of the button! And...haha! :proud: Under Pressure's, well...torn off the pit release button, to put it as blunt as a dull axeblade. Envy reverses away from the pit and wheels about; the pit opens. Envy goes over to the pit, still carrying Under Pressure in that same sort of Heimlich manoeuvre, and...oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear oh...dear? Wha...correct me if I'm wrong, but...I don't see how Envy is going to get Under Pressure into the pit here. And nor does Shane! Envy's got his scoop over the edge of the pit, but he can't do anything as Under Pressure is stuck on the open flipper! Under Pressure's claws open...oh you wee git you. :P Under Pressure dropped the pit release button into the pit. Insult our arena, will you?! Well...we'll settle that one later. Anyway, The Watcher seems to be necessitating on whether to free them. Apparently he's made his decision, because he's coming over swiftly. However, Envy doesn't want the ref's help; turning away from the pit, he drives Under Pressure in a beeline straight towards the wall! With a dull crash, Under Pressure's claws connect with the wall and send him backwards over Envy, free at last! Envy, having also driven into the wall, backs away and spins around very quicky, to ward off any opportunities, but there's a problem! And a big one it is, too! Envy's flipper is still stuck, even without the weight of Under Pressure stuck on top of him! Shane taps the flipper switch on his controls a few times fiercely, but there's no response!
With his opponent's weaponry seemingly incapacitated, Martijn decides to implement his plan of going on the offense, and now charges Envy full blast, who reacts instinctively and meets him head-on! Who'll prevail here? ...looks like Martijn! The claws of Under Pressure have now succeeded! They've snuck under the sides of Envy like a cockroach infestation in your kitchen walls! And that's no good thing, by any means! Envy tries to get away but the percent of wheelage on the ground in Envy's favour is an absolute zero, meaning there's not a chance in hell you're getting out of this one, Mr. Swan! And now the upper claws come and sink in...OOH...now that's damage! They've surely suck in and...are going in far...that can't be a good thing either. Under Pressure, seeing Count Bleck nearby and forgetting about the pit, moves in to deliver Envy to the house robot.
CRASH!!!
And hoo boy, Envy gets delivered, all right! As in: delivered a huge blow to the rear, scarring it up bad! Y'see, folks, Hardox isn't quite as invincible as you'd think. :proud: The force also has spun the two bots around right quick, but no internal damage seems to have been done to Under Pressure, as far as we know. Seeing the great gash in Envy's rear from his control booth, Martijn now abandons his plan of pitting Envy for the moment, having remembered it seconds before, and plans to cause Envy as much damage as possible! He spins Under Pressure (and Envy) back around to face Count Bleck, and waits for the Count to spin up again; the said Count emits a long blast of flame which sweeps over Envy's rear, reflecting off the black and silver paintwork, and quite possibly into Envy through that gash. Now Martijn moves in on the house robot again.
CRASH!!!
Again the two competitors are spun right around in a tango, Under Pressure facing away from the house robot! The gash in the rear of Envy has widened considerably, but the blow's definitely not loosened the monstrous grip Under Pressure still has on Envy, so Shane is out of luck! The fan favourite looks about to be defeated here, as Martijn spins his robot back around...but then decides to go back to his original plan, he doesn't want to be too bad of a sport. So Under Pressure spins back around again and carries Envy towards the pit. Envy does not appear to be moving, at all, no matter how much Shane works the controls: obviously the claws or house robot attacks have done something to the internals. The bottom of the tires are visible to the arena cameras, and they do not appear to be rotating (the tires). Martijn doesn't notice this; one great shove and Envy is dangling over the pit. Martijn goes to retract the claws...but can't! The claws aren't responding! The only viable alternative to Martijn is to...BOOM! Martijn flings Under Pressure down the pit, still grappling Envy in front. Shane smirks wryly at this outcome.
CEASE!
