From what I remember, Storm 2 doesnt run flush to the floor. I should be able to get the scoop under easily, and push/flip him around all day with the main objective being to pit him.

Agro 3.5 is first to get going, quickly running across the arena and using the hinged plate at the front of the robot to breach the ground clearance of PsycloniZer, ramming Andy into the spike strip before the ring has even had a chance to get up to speed! Richard guns the motors and pins the champion there for a few moments before turning around underneath PsycloniZer and pushing Andy across the arena and depositing him into the CPZ with Scream! The flipper fires and the terrible, blood curdling yell fills the arena as Psy is launched up into the air and comes crashing down back onto the arena floor, quickly gunning those mags in the drive to get away from Scream and avoiding a box-rush attempt from Agro 3.5, now spinning up the ring using that LEM-200 and lining up for an attack even as Agro comes in, but Andy dodges around the wedge of Richard€™s robot and slams into its side, breaking one of the hinges on the front plate! Agro 3.5 is sent spinning away as PsycloniZer is thrown backwards a bit by the force of its own hit, but now Richard is having mobility problems as the hinged plate drags on the floor next to his wedge-shaped machine, and Agro finds it difficult now to try and attempt an attack with its own spinning weapon, the vertical spinning disc on the back styled on X-Terminator€™s from series 7, one of Richard€™s 2 realie entries to this season€™s competition. And by the time Richard has lined up for an attack on PsycloniZer Andy€™s ring is already spinning at top speed and the two wheel drive runs PsycloniZer towards Agro 3.5 and slams into Agro€™s own disc, knocking a chunk out of the titanium! Agro may be weaponless now, but the 4mm hardox armour is standing up well thus far. PsycloniZer reverses away for another attack and Richard turns to try and follow, but once again Andy has the ring at maximum speed and potency and runs in on a full power attack, slamming into Agro 3.5 and sending it spinning away across the arena and onto the flame pit! The flames themselves don€™t seem to do anything to Agro, but as the camera zooms in we see that a fatal blow has been dealt- the removable link on Agro 3.5 has been knocked clean out of the robot by the flying hit from the number #1 seed and now the wedge shaped robot with hinged wedge and vertical flywheel is out of the competition! Refbot senses that the match is over too and moves in to count Agro 3.5 down and out of its first ever Robot SMASH!! .

Scream comes into play now and wedges Agro, pushing Richard up against the spike trip and firing the flipper to send the defeated machine up and over the low 45cm barrier to come crashing down on the camera tracks and out of the competition!

Agro 3.5 is aggravated beyond belief; PsycloniZer (1) goes through to the heat final!
*Fearne walks up to Richard in the pits*
Fearne: Are you disappointed to be out?
Richard: Obviously I had hoped to make it a little further, as anyone would but if you have to pick a robot to go out to it has to be the best machine here, and the number #1 seed is just that right now!
Fearne: And you did put up a pretty good fight too.
Richard: Not bad, I got one good attack in with the wedge at the beginning of the fight, but when the wedge was damaged I had effective weapons and when the disc went I had no weapons at all!
Fearne: Will Agro 3.5 be back next season, or maybe even Agro 4.0?
Richard: We€™ll have to wait and see.

ISDSFA is straight off the mark, heading out of the red corner and straight across the Robotagon at Paul, who knowing that Storm II (unlike ISDSFA) doesn€™t have a front ground clearance of 0 tries to swerve and avoid the seed to attack the sides, but fails as Frank sees the move coming and turns to meet Storm II head on as it swerves, scooping the series 1 finalist up and ramming Paul across the arena, delivering him to the spike strip to the left of the CPZ! Surlygig quietly spins up in anticipation and Frank turns, flipping Storm II with the linear actuators that power the scoop and hitting Paul with the front mounted flywheel, bouncing him into Surlygig€™s spinning shell! CRASH! Storm II€™s front left panel is knocked flying across the arena as is Storm II itself, which bounces away and lands on the flame pit, where it is followed by ISDSFA who immediately scoops the realie back up and pushes it across the arena once more, flipping Storm II back the right way up, but striking it with the 8Kj capable flywheel behind the scoop and turning it back over again. Paul activates the srimech for the first time and so tries to ram ISDSFA and succeeds in getting under the side, pushing the seed across the arena at a breakneck pace and slamming it into the spike strip! CRASH! The two robots are severely knocked by the impact, but surprisingly ISDSFA comes off worse as it is knocked into the CPZ and receives a knock from Surlygig, knocking it away and into the pit release button! The chasm descends and both robots prepare for an attack on each other, the seeded robot making the first move and pushing in underneath the front of Storm II, ramming Paul across the arena and stacking the RW7 runner-up on the wall behind the blue corner, bringing the flywheel into play onto the tyres! Paul tries to use the srimech to escape, but ISDSFA pushes in and holds Storm II in there, ripping up the tyres on one side of Storm II€™s lynch motor drive! Paul is going to have trouble manoeuvring after that and we see that now as the 30 second pinning rule comes into play and ISDSFA is forced to reverse from Storm II, allowing Paul to use the self-righting arm and get back down into the arena, but the realie is limping rather badly now as it struggles to come back on the attack, and ISDSFA easily out-drives it€™s opponent, getting around to the back of Storm II and scooping Paul€™s machine up on the front electric lifting weapon in order to push the first realie to win a heat in Robot SMASH!! over to the pit, into which the black box wedge slides and disappears in a puff of smoke.

Holly: Are you very unhappy with how the match went?
Paul: Not extremely, but I knew I was in with a fighting chance and it was a shame to lose.
Holly: Sadly the plan you had in mind never got going?
Paul: Yes, the idea was to use the srimech to dump the seed in the pit but sadly he did it to me!
Holly: The srimech did come in handy though didn€™t it?
Paul: Yes, there was one point when I was stacked on the wall and used it to get down.

PsycloniZer vs. ISDSFA
As with the last match, ISDSFA isnt my ideal opponent but I still think it is possible to go through. First of all, target the skirts. Either try to damage them or rip them clean off. The 3.5mm Hardox should be breakable so that will be the next target. 5mm Hardox might not be as easy, which is where I have to rely on shock damage or attempting to pull the whole panels off. Ripping the whole bucket off would be nice. :wink:
Plan is to ram smack bang into PsycloniZer and use the scoop to bully it around the arena, similar to Behemoth vs Hypnodisc. As before the main aim is to feed it to house robots to soften it up, then pit it.
The main reason I dont think PsycloniZer can cope with a good box rushing are those massive arms holding the hammers. Because theyre so long, the main robot only needs to tilt a little bit before the hammer smacks into the floor sending PsycloniZer crazy and basically making it hard to control, and thus easy to keep on and keep stalled.
Two more brilliant fights, Liam - I thought I might manage it at the beginning there, but oh well, its no bad thing to get comforting words from Fearne Cotton.
GREAT FIGHTS LIAM!! Only one tiny flaw - I didnt believe I had a fighting chance AT ALL in this heat :proud: Ah well. 1 down, 7 to go.
Im not sure wholl win the heat final, but ISDSFA is a spinner-killer with its thick scoop...Ill still go for the champ
ISDSFA is pushy, bossy, the whole nine yards...but I think Psy will still win through damage.

Henry: The two seeded robots of Heat A have made it here, reigning champion PsycloniZer and seventeenth seed ISDSFA.
JP: In round 1 the champion teamed up with Eye of Ran to take out With or Without You, but Storm II pitted Eye of Ran to go through.
Henry: In the other eliminator ISDSFA flipped Robo-Sheep out of the arena before confining Ramminator 1 ½ to the pit.
JP: In round 2 PsycloniZer took out newcomer Agro 3.5.
Henry: And ISDSFA pitted former grand finalist Storm II.
JP: Now both machines are here at the final, I€™m betting PsycloniZer will win through.

Both seeded robots get off the mark relatively quickly as the green light is shown, with PsycloniZer€™s two wheel drive allowing it the mobility it needs to dodge away from ISDSFA€™s opening onslaught which is a dangerous box-rush right at the start of the match and get that dangerous ring up to full speed, but the hardox front scoop of ISDSFA is virtually un-damageable and Frank follows the champion, bashing it with the scoop and causing one of the hammers to hit the ground, stopping the ring in its tracks and knocking PsycloniZer away across the arena floor. The seventeenth seed follows up the attack, driving in underneath the ground clearance of PsycloniZer and pushing it across the arena floor and up against the arena wall, lifting it up onto the barrier only for Andy to quickly drive back down and away across the arena floor before the three hammers become a dangerous blur once more, but still the lynch motors in ISDSFA€™s drive are powerful and fast and are gunning the Behemoth-shaped machine across the arena at the reigning champion, who once again has it€™s weaponry stopped in its tracks and is knocked into the spike strip! ISDSFA follows up the attack and drives in underneath PsycloniZer again, pushing Andy across the Robotagon and into the CPZ! Shunt attacks, bringing the diamond-edged axe down onto the top of PsycloniZer, snagging a wheel hole! The scoop lifts PsycloniZer and Shunt holds the champion in mid-air, reversing across the arena before turning on the spot to suspend PsycloniZer over the pit for a few moments before dumping it onto the flame pit and reversing back into his CPZ. PsycloniZer is undamaged by the flames, but ISDSFA comes in again and making good use of the linear actuators flips PsycloniZer up and over and brings the flywheel into play, the 8 Kj€™s not damaging the underside of PsycloniZer and missing the tyres completely, but throwing Andy a little away from ISDSFSA and onto the closed pit. Frank makes a beeline for the release button, hoping to quickly confine the number #1 seed to the depths of the chasm and although the release button is pressed PsycloniZer is away from the pit and has the spinning ring up to a violent pace courtesy of the lynch motor that drives it. Frank comes on another thundering box rush, but Andy side steps him this and slams into the side of the hardox machine, knocking off the side panel completely and sending Frank flying across the arena and into the spike strip! CRASH! PsycloniZer runs in behind the dazed ISDSFA now and before Frank can put his motors in reverse and push Andy away nudges the seventeenth seed into the CPZ! Shunt whacks the top of ISDSFA with his axe and Frank drives forward, getting his own scoop under Shunt€™s and lifting the lightweight house robot up and over onto his back! Shunt is out of the equation, but PsycloniZer has been given time to spin up again while ISDSFA defended itself from Shunt and now slams into the rear of the series 1 bronze medallist, knocking off another panel (the rear one this time) and sending ISDSFA flying into the spike strip again! CRASH! And this time when Frank tries to get ISDSFA back on the attack there is no response down there in the arena, it seems ISDSFA isn€™t moving for some reason! Refbot moves in and nudges the Behemoth-shaped robot, pushing it against the spike strip to see if ISDSFA makes an attempt to escape, but not even the weaponry is moving and so Refbot begins the count.

ISDSFA is down and out of the competition, although with Shunt on its back there is now house robot to deliver any more pain and ISDSFA is saved by the bell.

Predictions: Nidhogg, Exertion, GBOD and Supernova to go through. :)
Tactics: Face frontwards only to flippers, anything else, slam.
Plan is to go for Nidhogg here, keeping the blade fairly short to allow better control. If I roll him over so the crusher is facing away from the wall, he can be easily stacked and left to be counted out.
Assuming Exertion hasnt killed off 259 by then Ill either try to use the sword to tear out his wepaon belt, or just tip him over.

Ill use the crushing jaws here. Ill go for Sheer Heart Attack, try and get at the tracks, and if I can, get it in the pit. If one of the other two hasnt killed the other yet, Ill go for Supernova and try to get it in the pit aswell. Stay away from GBOD!
Sorry Joey, but since if Im reading Nidhoggs stats right, my barrel shape and hardox armour will make it very hard for the crusher/lifter to do much to me. Therefor I actually consider Nidhogg to be the easy victory :proud:
I dont need to do much to you, just pick you up and submit you as a deposit to the Bank Of Pit :proud:
My tactics final revision is to after (hopefully) pitting Exertion, and assuming 259 is still in play, get the thing over fast, but if Frank shows any unwelcome attention then get him down that pit :P

Now how exactly do you grip something round using a sharp point? :P Not saying you cant just use the lifter, but the crusher is going to have chocolate teapot syndrome :proud:
If the crusher gets onto the robot at a point where the outside of the robot is more than perpendicular to the ground, gripping should come fairly naturally, the crusher can also probably be able to compress 4mm Hardox enough to hold it in place as well - Tiberius is capable of penetrating thin Hardox if I recall correctly, largely because all the pressure is focused onto said sharp point.

Ill go for the team-up with Masamune. 259 seems to be my target. Hopefully the disc cant cause too much damage to my armour. Its pretty much a case of box rushing it and keeping the disc speed slow. If I can get under, Ill try and use the scoop to tip it over. Then go after Nidhogg if its still running by then. The crusher doesnt worry me too much. Again, keep ramming it around, down the pit if I can.

Fearne: Welcome to the pits. I€™m Fearne Cotton and this is Holly Willoughby.
Holly: Today sees 8 robots fighting it out for a place in the series semi-finals, let€™s see these robots.
Fearne: Here we have 259, one of two realies in this heat. It has a powerful vertical flywheel and almost beat Wild Thing2 in RW6, but has no srimech, exposed weapon chains and lost out in the first round of RS!!1.
Holly: Next up here is Exertion, another veteran. It has four S28-400 magmotors for excellent pushability and controllability plus an electric scoop that can work both ways up, powered by an S28-150 motor.
Fearne: Here is one of only two newcomers in this heat, Masamune. This is its first time in RS!! , but it is very experienced in other competitions. It€™s an interesting barrel-shaped design with front wedge and retractable sword lifter. The hardox armour is tough, but the weaponry could be ineffective.
Holly: Here we have GBOD, who did OK last season. It€™s a full body spinner with a kinetic energy powered srimech, and is shaped like a giant bell (hence the name Giant Bell Of Death). However it must spin up before it can self-right.
Fearne: This is Lethal Execution, an update of last season€™s Lethal Injection. Unlike the former it isn€™t an axlebot and packs powerful B42-500 magmotors in the drive as well as some interchangeable weaponry to do some real damage.
Holly: The last newcomer and the last realie of the heat is Supernova, the RW6 Heat H finalist with a powerful horizontal spinning disc and the ability to run inverted. It€™s quick around the arena and dangerously powerful, but lost out in round 1 of RW7.
Fearne: The lower seed of the heat is Sheer Heart Attack 2, this full body drum with tracks and rear wedges. There are powerful lynch motors in the drive and the weaponry can deliver a good hit, knocking out robots the entire round.
Holly: And here it is, the moment you€™ve all been waiting for, the update of series 1 runner-up and series 2 bronze medallist, the number #3 seed Nidhogg Evo! Previously Nidhogg, this successful machine no longer has electric forks, but a new hydraulic lifting mechanism and a roll-cage device to solve the self-righting problem that cost it the series 1 trophy.

RS!!1: (as Nidhogg) Lifted and pitted The Curse, Doorstops and WORCK to make it through the heat, then pitted Seung Mina IV in the quarters to reach the semis, where Supreme Glory Omega bit the dust, but in the final Wedge Devolution flipped it against the wall and out of the competition.
RS!!2: (as Nidhogg) Teamed up with Under Pressure to get rid of Leprosy Infection in round 1, then disposed of Drum Boy in round 2 and Envy in the heat final. In the semi-finals Achilles and Killobite 5.0 (10) were eliminated before Nidhogg was thrashed by PsycloniZer in the Grand Final. However the loss was compensated for in the play-off when Back to Rock III was knocked out of contention for that podium finish.

The green light is shown as all four robots move into the centre of the arena and begin the tussle, with the 3rd seed Nidhogg Evo clearly making a beeline for Exertion, scooping it up on the wedge and lifting it into the air, holding it up while the crusher comes down, but it never makes contact with the top of Exertion as Masamune attacks Joey mid-attack, sliding in the sword lifter underneath and tipping Nidhogg Evo up and over! The seeded robot rolls over and lands on its wheels, reversing away from Masamune to line up another attack on Exertion, who rams in using all four magmotors in the drive to get that front scoop underneath the front of Nidhogg and use the S28-150 motor to lift last season€™s bronze medallist into the air, ramming it for the full length of the Robotagon and into the spike strip! CRASH! Nidhogg is flung away, but immediately goes back on the attack of Exertion and slides underneath the side again, pinning Andy against the spike strip and using the hydraulic lifter to raise the rammer€™s wheels from the ground while the crusher comes down from above! Masamune makes a ploy to halt this attack as well, but when Frank is just short of the 3rd seed 259 intercepts the barrel shaped machine, not damaging the hardox armour but rolling Masamune away across the arena and quickly following up that attack, ramming in with the flywheel and knocking Masamune into the spike strip! Meanwhile Nidhogg Evo has brought that crusher into play on the front right tyre of Exertion and pierced it, digging in deep before lifting Exertion into the air and reversing into the pit release button! Luckily for Exertion though this loosens the seed€™s grip and Exertion is knocked back to the ground, where it races away from Nidhogg before turning to meet Joey€™s oncoming onslaught, which never reaches Exertion because Masamune has recovered from 259€™s assault and comes thundering across the arena to penetrate the side of Nidhogg Evo€™s ground clearance and tip it over again! Masamune tries to follow up the attack and continue rolling Joey across the arena to the wall, but the lifter isn€™t fast enough to get flush to the floor again and Nidhogg Evo is quickly away, dodging around Masamune again to attack Exertion, who has been knocked around by 259 during Masamune€™s attack on Nidhogg. Joey lifts Exertion into the air and brings that crusher down on top again, holding the controlled rammer in place as it makes its way across the arena to the pit! Masamune follows to try and foil to the defeat of its team-mate, but is intercepted again by 259, who rolls it back around the arena and into the CPZ! Tranquiliser slams into Masamune with a CRASH! , but does little damage and Frank just rolls away out of the CPZ, back into the centre of the arena just as Nidhogg lowers Exertion into the pit! A puff of smoke signals the end of Exertion€™s run in this season of Robot SMASH!! , and as Masamune attempts to at least finish the seed by nudging it into the pit Joey reverses from the pit for Frank to almost drive in, but he reverses away only to be hit from behind by 259€™s spinning flywheel, which knocks it up into the air for it to come crashing down onto its wheels, but it doesn€™t land on its wheels as Nidhogg has run in underneath and so Frank lands on Nidhogg€™s lifter! Joey hoists Masamune into the air again, and doesn€™t even bother using the crusher as they are so close to the pit!

Exertion is exerted and Masamune joins it in the pit; Nidhogg Evo (3) and 259 go through to round 2!

Lethal Execution is using the hydraulic claw setup for this match, and flexes those powerful muscles in the magmotors that power that six wheel drive at a high voltage to move quickly across the arena towards the seeded robot Sheer Heart Attack 2, who ploughs on to meet the attack with the drum spinning upwards at full speed! Danny tries to veer away from the drum and attack the tracks, but Martijn ploughs on forwards into the side of Lethal Execution and throws it up and over, in doing so putting a large gash in the titanium armour! Meanwhile GBOD has spun up alongside Supernova and is contemplating an attack on the RW6 Heat H finalist, who has its own spinning disc running at full potency and decides to run in on the attack of the full body spinner shaped like a giant bell of death! CRASH! Both robots are flung across the arena on impact, with GBOD hitting the spike strip, but taking much less punishment from that hit than Supernova, who bounces away across the arena and lands in the CPZ for Ziggy to ram in underneath and fire the 4-bar flipper and send him sky high across the arena to come crashing down in the centre! Meanwhile Lethal Execution has recovered from its earlier damage and attacks Sheer Heart Attack 2 again, this time managing to tackle the C&BT2 champion side on and sink that claw into the both the top and bottom parts of the left track! Martijn looks worried up there in the control booth, even more so now as GBOD pushes Supernova back into the CPZ for Ziggy to give Alex some more air time, but the flight of Supernova is cut short by the pit release button which is depressed by the comparatively small bodywork of Supernova! The pit descends and Danny senses opportunity, gunning that six wheel drive over to the chasm and slowly but painfully releasing Sheer Heart Attack 2, the seeded robot of this battle as it slides from his grip and into the pit in a puff of smoke! Amidst this massive shocker of an event GBOD has spun up to full speed again and has its sights set on Supernova once more, slamming into the helpless realie and sending it spinning away across the arena to land broken and beaten on the flame pit, although now it seems it isn€™t quite beaten yet as the wheels spin to get it moving again, but the disc seems to be hanging loose and is motionless. Meanwhile though Lethal Execution (the surprise star so far of this four way melee) has taken advantage of GBOD€™s momentary stillness and breached the ground clearance with the bottom half of the jaw and pinned Leo against the spike strip before activating the hydraulic weaponry and gripping the bell shaped machine hard, stopping the shell from spinning again and holding on tight as Danny reverses away from the wall now with the promising GBOD in tow, turning towards the chasm and driving up right next to it before releasing GBOD and dumping the second defeated vapour spinner of this match on top of the seeded Sheer Heart Attack 2 to signal the first big shocker of the series so far!

...I survived? 259 went through? Was so not expecting either of those considering I was facing the twin forces for Frank Goacher and his logic :proud: Full credit to Andy and Frank though, and w00t to Liam for some...uh...w00ty fights :P
TACTICS: These will largely depend on what setup Dannys using, but will be some variation on grab, lift, crush, take to pit except if he is using the drum, in which case I will use a slightly different set of tactics to be revealed if that situation turns out to be true.
Right, well the obvious thing is to aim for the wheels, but keep front facing at all times, I think our disc could survive his quite easily if they hit so just try and attack the sides if possible.
As I recall, 259 has relatively light weight armour - and by my reckoning the advantage here is mine - I have a much broader field of attack than 259 due to being a horizontal spinner rather than vertical. Also, as I recall my disc is thicker so in a disc-disc hit I *should* come out the better.
Im using the drum, because I want to see what Joeys tactics are :P Ill try and knock him over, and keep up the agression without letting that slow self-righter come into play.
By the way, beating the C&B Champion means I am now, right? :P

REVISED TACTICS:
Avoid the drum. (goes without saying, kinda :P). If this proves difficult, my armou shold be goood enough to keep anything bad from happening and it should roll over from any attacks fairly well. Go for the sides, lift, and try and hook the crusher in behind the self righting hoops and drag the robot by way of them. If Im lucky, I may be able to cause damage to them to prevent it self righting, and it should be a simple expedient to get the lifter under and turn it over and into turtle land. If that doesnt work, all the easier for me to get it down the pit with :proud:

Its a pity Liam is going (Ill missed him - hes my vote for most missed vapourboteer award this year :sad:) but if Liam ever returns, and does another series - Robot SMASH!! IV: Fighting 4 Glory (Working title :proud:) then reserve me a spot - especially after that list of results {proud}
Sigh...the blow is somewhat lessened because I came third, lol, but it is very sad to see one of the best tournaments Ive seen in a while come to an abrupt end, and one of the most promising vapourboteers retire from the FRA...
