Mad Dash: Uh... prepare my will, and BOX RUSH PSY LIKE MAD!
Fatality: Try to shock kill it.
Paralyzation: Go for the back, and never allow any chances to attack.
Lets get some basic things out of the way first, things I dont think I mentioned in the first post.
Arena
Bog-standard affair, same size as the robot wars arena, but with higher walls. The pit is open all the time and there is no other hazards apart from a house robot which will only come into play in the first couple rounds.
House robot
Chaos Choir, has been changed a lot since its debut smash up, its basically a mobile arena hazard, I wont be using it a lot, but its there if you want to push other robots into it. The stats I have been working on and trying to polish up, but house robots are so fun to design as they dont have to follow the normal rules :proud:
Judges
If no winner after 4 minutes:
Aggression; damage and control are the 3 point scoring areas, 15 points for each area, however if the battle was so one-sided the judges can award the battle to the robot who was on top for most of the match, but lacked luck in finishing of.
What else, apart from fights will start hopefully this weekend.
*pokes Alex to get set-up of Achilles and Slammer in*
The Killer Toad Tournament, the final Assault
First qualification round, battle 1/24
The fight to win back the box containing secrets which could destroy something or another starts now, as it is the final assault:
Boxx vs. Eye of Ran
The first robot into the arena today is Boxx, Team Orr€™s debut in the Killer toad arena, and like the name suggests it is a box, an invertible box with that, weighing in at 98 of the finest kilograms, it comes with a couple lovely Lem motors, which power 4 wheels. The armour is rather strong, but the real worry is the ground clearance only being 2mm, so it could get grounded if not careful, but thankfully this is the first battle in the new arena after the last one disappeared into a black hole created by the prototype Chaos Choir going out of control, the anti-black hole machines were busy that day. But it is Boxx from Team Orr, driven by Jack
*Jack gives a cheery wave from control booth*
The second robot into the arena today is Eye of Ran, this T-shaped robot is shaped like a T, so shocking isn€™t it, and I would have put money on a T-shaped robot being shaped like a U or something. Joey€™s machine has the 2nd powerful spinning weapon in the arena today, being a Hardox T-bar mounted at the front of the machine, powered by a petrol engine, the machine is quick across the arena however it€™s weakness is it€™s rear end, where only a wedge is there to protect the wide rear end. But it is Eye of Ran from Team Chevron
*Joey gives a cheery wave from control booth*
The 3rd robot into the arena today is Remy, the local ref, designed to count out other robots, put out fires, break apart robots that have caught themselves up together, but generally will be sitting around waiting for some action.
As will be the 4th and most deadly robot in the arena today, it€™s the completed 2nd generation of Chaos Choir, after the 1st generation was sucked into nothingness with it€™s train electric motor and banks of electrical discharge units, the 2nd generation is less dangerous being returned to petrol power, being powered by a superbike engine the rear end spinning rim weighs in at around 75 kg, the drive comes from some overly large and complex balls which give the robot 360 degree drive. However the spinning rim is gutless compared to the main frontal weapon, powered by compressed air and based loosely on a sand-blaster, the compressed air will either fire itself at you with some force (sending you backwards at some speed) or with some rather nasty bearings which at the speed they come out of the gun, they can cause some damage. The house robot will only feature in the qualification rounds and only get used to comedic effect, but be careful, say you want to attack the house robot after a victory and CC won€™t hold back with the spinning guns.
Right, that€™s the introductions over, as the arena is locked down, ready for some rock steady easy action.

And both robots are away, the spinning bar at the front of Eye of Ran starts to spin up, the petrol motor from a chainsaw picking up speed, as Boxx comes storming in, as Boxx tries to dodge around the sides, but is met with Joey€™s driving skills as spinning bar introduces itself to Boxx, as Boxx is sent spinning away, the bar doing it€™s work as one of the 2 ramming spikes on the front of Boxx embeds itself into the arena wall. Boxx comes back onto the attack, being a rammer it needs to attack you sees, but Eye of Ran is ready, with the spinning bar at 66% power, as Jack tries to pull of a lovely move to attempt to get around the rear end of Eye to Ran, to try and get under the rear wedge to lift the rear wheels up ram eye to ran into the pit or into the side wall or as a last resort into chaos choir€™s rear spinning rim.
However Jack€™s attempt at the lovely move fails, as Eye of Ran counter-dodges in the nick of time, as Boxx is introduced to the spinning bar of Eye of Ran, sending it away causing some lovely sparks, but Joey gives chase, as Boxx is cornered between a fence, a fence, a rim and a bar, as Jack tries to escape the doom, but Eye of Ran is fast and corners Boxx as the spinning bar catches onto the side of Boxx, sending it into the fence, as Joey revs up the engine and drives straight into Boxx on the rear end, the weakness part, as the 20kg bar rips straight into the rear panel sending it away like it was made of paper and Joey pulls away, leaving the rear end of Boxx exposed, as the wheels are spinning away, in mid-air, as Joey revs up for another attack, eyeing up the sides this time.
Crash, Boxx is send spinning away, the side panel having a lovely cut in it, but once it stops spinning the wheels get traction, but as Boxx limps forward, one side€™s drive has shut-down, as Joey pulls back, as Jack raises his hand to say I€™m out. At this moment Chaos Choir comes forward, front end pointing at Boxx and fires it€™s air gun sending Boxx into the arena pit which just happens to be near by.
Cease
Boxx loses ground on the roughage patches running the edges of the arena, taking moderate damage and tapping out to avoid complete destruction, as Chaos Choir and Eye of Ran are playing to see who can do the most damage to a random microwave, ending in a draw when the microwave ends up in quite a few parts.
Next time it is:
Tenderizers Revenge 2 vs. Back to Rock III
Simple and efficient, looking good so far...fair play to Jack though, good fight :)
Looking forward to some more w00tiness in the fights from the rest of the tourney.
(Yeah, I know its 24 hours late :P)
Ah sorry, have been away this weekend...
Pnuematics for achilles, claw for slammer
This is slowly turning into a farce isnt it
I will try and get into the writing mood at the weekend and hit out a couple fights. My plan of getting it finished by the new year looks like its failed
The ever delayed Final Assault first qualification round, fight 2:
Tenderizers Revenge 2 vs. Back to Rock III
In the left hand square is Tenderizer€™s Revenge 2, the invertible box with the magic swinging arm, entered by Richard.
In the right hand square is Back to Rock 3, this oddly shaped robot comes with an electric lifting arm at the front, and a spinning blade buried inside the front lifter. Entered by Mart.

And both machines are away, and both are heading towards each other, the spinning blade of Back to Rock is spinning as the magical swinging arm of Tenderizers Revenge 2 has gone down, lifting the front wheels slightly off the ground in an attempt to put weight on the arm in order to get underneath the front end of Back to Rock.
Bang, crash, baby cries, donkey noises, as both robots hit each other head-on, the lifted front of Tenderizers Revenge 2 is enough to get underneath Back to Rock, but before Richard can do anything to make use of the situation, Back to Rock is free and is away, ramming into Tenderizers Revenge 2 once more but this time manages to get underneath the front wedge, must be that weight on the front end of Back to Rock.
Mart wastes no time and lifts Tenderizers Revenge 2 up, so that the wheels are spinning in mid-air, but Mart knows he must be quick as the arm on Tenderizers Revenge 2 is swinging around to free Richard€™s robot as Mart puts on the power and slams Tenderizers Revenge 2 into the arena wall with quite some force, sending it spinning away, Mart gives chase as Tenderizers Revenge 2 lands, Richard puts down the power and as the wheels spin on the loose roughage surface around the edge of the arena, it gets grip and escape another ram from Back to Rock. Richard spins Tenderizers Revenge 2 around and drives towards Back to Rock, which spins around a bit too late, as Tenderizers Revenge 2 breaches the side skirts and lifts the wheels of Back to Rock off the ground.
Richard has his eyes set on the pit, as he carries Back to Rock, towards the pit, but Mart has other ideas and starts to rock Back to Rock backwards and forward so that the wheels touch the ground and as they do Back to Rock spins around, and getting underneath the side of Tenderizers Revenge 2 and lifts up the entire robot, so that the arm can€™t save Tenderizers Revenge 2 now, as Mart sets course to heart of the pit, and dumps Tenderizers Revenge 2 down the hole.
Cease
Back to Rock goes forward onto the 2nd qualifying round
First qualification round, fight 3
SOR X vs. Brutalis 2.1
The first robot into the arena is SOR X, from Andy, it€™s the spinning rim with a flipper attached, designed for destruction
The 2nd robot is Brutalis 2.1, entered by Liam, it€™s a front hinged flipper, designed for flipping and controlling other robots.
3

And SOR X spins around at once to get that rear rim into action, as it spins up to speed, as Brutalis 2.1 drives towards SOR X with one aim and one aim only to get around the front end of SOR X avoiding the spinning rim and try to get underneath the front flipper extension plate thing. Liam comes closer, but Andy is too quick and counters the attack from Liam, as the spinning rim introduces itself to the sides of Brutalis 2.1, sparks fly from the Hardox, as SOR X comes onto the attack with another sparking attack, the sides are at the wrong angle for Andy to attack, as he redraws waiting for the next attack.
Liam spins Brutalis 2.1 around and drives towards SOR X, dodging the spinning rim, and making it€™s way to the front, but when SOR X pushes forward, getting underneath the front end of Brutalis 2.1 and as the kinetic flipper fires, sending Brutalis 2.1 onto it€™s back, and as Brutalis 2.1 self-rights, right into the spinning rim, as Brutalis 2.1 is sent spinning away, pieces of wheel cover the arena, as it lands, spinning in a circle, the left hand wheel destroyed by that impact, as SOR X comes in with another flip, getting underneath the rear end of Brutalis 2.1 and flipping it into the pit to avoid more damage from the house robot who replies in showering SOR X with some air.
Cease
Brutalis 2.1 had bad luck and ended up in the pit, SOR X goes forward onto the 2nd qualifying round.
Next up:
Crimson Thunder vs. MacBeth
Gah, so didnt remember this. Sorry Dave.

Ill take Crimson Thunder to win the next fight. :)
even if the last one was kinda short
Well, I did get absolutetly pwned :proud:
I havent forgotten about this, I just cant do the fights anymore at work because they have switched off the usb ports
tis okay, as long as you get them done eventually - wooty fights so far by the way, just been a bot slow to comment on them :)
(Lng shot, but I take it work would notice if you tried to burn CD-Rs in the office?)
Its alright, Dave, I understand.

(Lng shot, but I take it work would notice if you tried to burn CD-Rs in the office?)
We have cheapy machines in the office, the CD-drives dont come with burners
And via the internet is no-longer an option because the email accounts have been blocked
Man, Dave, theyre really pushing it.
I know, damn army computers
They dont even have the standard windows games on them
At least in my old mess, they had wi-fi so i could use my laptop to get onto the internet to do stuff
Right, to kick start this sadly I have had to make some changes to the rounds after the ground stage, but more on that later.
Would anybody mind if I did summary hypos for the remaining round 1 matches so I can get a move on?
To be honest...I feel like doing that with all the Round 1 matches of C&B3, so I wouldnt blame you in the slightest, Dave...
Go ahead. :)
*agrees*
how soon will they be up?
Im with you there, if its gonna be big I have no objections to you hypoing the first round. I have one through anyhow so Ill still get to participate in more of your wooty battles :)
Never mind, I actually went ahead with my feeling. :P
Do as you will Dave. :)
The summaries will be done some-point this weekend (hopefully).
Right, the remaining round 1 matches in a summary format, so basically all the work but without the words fatting it out.

Syndos wins by knocking Intriguer into pit
Heimlich vs. Slammer
Slammer slams Heimlich into the pit
Curse of Dread vs. BIACS-LE
Curse of Dread wins on tight judge€™s decision after tense battle.

TACTICS:
S.T.A.T. vs. Spin Dash Unleashed
Ram it. Hard. If it is practical at any point, avoid the saw, but generally ram it, try to impale its wheels with the spike, and get it down some sort of pit type thing.
Back To Rock III vs. Eye of Ran
Keep the wedge to BTR if possible until the blade is spun up to about 3/4 of max speed, and then hit it. If it proves difficult, get the blade up to max and see what that does. Always try and keep one of the ends (blade or wedge) facing BTR, try not to let it get around the sides.
Supreme vs. Nidhogg Evo
Get underneath it somewhere, lift it so it doesnt have traction, crush into it or at least clamp it so it cant escape, and then attempt to pit it. Standard tactics really.
Good luck everyone, particularly Dan, Steve and Marti :)
Tactics time, I guess:
Sithis vs. Seung Mina V
Dont use the flipper at all...unless I need to self-right for whatever reason, I dont want my flipper rams attacked :uhoh:. Simply ram-foo Sithis ass into the pit double quick and preferably turn to ram into the direction hes spinning, like straight into the blade, so hell become unstable and fly up the wedge :proud:. The angle of the wedge, nice LEM power and Hardox armour should help immensely here.
Crimson Thunder vs. Curse of Dread
Another Danny B battle I see. :proud: Well my spinning bar gets up to speed in pretty much no time at all so keeping hitting him until he dies. Hopefully the panels will come off after enough hits. Even if the bar isnt spinning, I can use the wedge to get under and push him around. If he manages to get under, turn away, as I should still have my wheels on the ground. Should be good. :)
Good luck Danny in both battles. :)
At least Ive got one robot through. Heres the plan for Knyfe.
Battle Raptor 4 vs. Knyfe
Hooray! I havent fought Richard in a while, and given hes updatewd his robot, and Ive got a new robot here, itll be good. First of all, Im a bit worried about the axe, not because of my armour, as i dont think itll do too much to my 6mm Hardox - Im worried he may break a chain and prevent me from moving. So, I need to get the robot off the ground so he cant hit me. But he has those forks to flip me over and render my normal wedge useless. So here comes...
8: A 42* hindged wedge at the front made of 7mm Hardox with a large 8mm Hardox hindge. The wedge is invertible, as it flops over if flipped, and isnt effected if flippeed. I use this against flippers.
If he gets underneath first time round, no worry, just push (I can outpush him, as his motors will genderate 16hp overall - mine give 50hp) If I get under, just slam into the nearest wall as hard as possible, and hope I break something. Just keep pushing him into the hazards, walls, and hope I win :proud:
Good luck Richard  and everybody else.
quote:
First of all, Im a bit worried about the axe, not because of my armour, as i dont think itll do too much to my 6mm Hardox - Im worried he may break a chain and prevent me from moving. How, exactly? :proud:
If he gets underneath first time round, no worry, just push (I can outpush him, as his motors will genderate 16hp overall - mine give 50hp)
...might be being slightly nosey here, its not really my place to comment on tactics, but - if he gets underneath you, there will either be less weight on the wheels you have remaining on the floor (making them more likely to just spin and make a nice noise...eeeeeeeee), or, more likely, all your wheels will be off the floor making oushing about as effective as one of Baldricks plans.
Just saying, your overconfidence is blinding you to reality a bit again.
And I think Paul has forgotten he already has one robot in the group stage
Against Knyfe, BR4 will stick to the sides and try to turn him over and push him around - hopefully my front plate will go under the skirts with a good enough push, and may even go under the front wedge if Im lucky. As for the axe, even if I dont break a chain, Ill score points and maybe strike a wheel or two, so Ill hammer away anyway.
Sheesh, only 1 bot through and I get drawn against SOR X again
I can only hope to batter his armour as best I can, Im not entirely sure how effective it will be against 4mm hardox but I have to try. I will also try to box rush at the beginning to stop the rim, after that just go mad with the axe. Good luck Andy, I hope you dont pwn me again :S
In the other matches I think Pure Evil, Knyfe, Mina, STAT, PsycloniZer, SYNDOS, Eye of Ran, Achilles, Fatality, Supreme and Crimson Thunder will go through :)
looks like im out:sad:
oh well, well done dave
Ge5orce, eh?
Not much I can do here, except for SLAMMING into his side. AVOID THE FRONT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!
Slammer VI vs. PsycloniZer
Interesting! :) This should be a good fight, but I can€™t think of much we can do to each other. I€™ll aim to attack the framework at first. If anything can be broken, this is probably it. Then just give it some thumping hits as many times as possible. The wheels are obviously a target, if I can rip some rubber off it should reduce its manoeuvrability and make it more prone to attacks. With the components contained inside, some hard blows could knock something loose inside. Just damage whatever I can.
SOR X vs. Premonition
Hopefully the axe won€™t cause a lot of damage to my armour. I€™ll mainly use the spinning rim for the start of this battle. The skirts will be my first targets - if I can damage or remove those it will allow me to get under and flip later in the battle. The armour is hopefully damageable so I€™ll give it a few hits next. I€™ll also attempt to damage the axe heads if possible. If the skirts are damaged, then I can get under with the wedge to push it and flip it around the arena.
Fatality vs. Ge5orce
I€™ll go in right from the start and flip Fatality before the shell can get fully spun up. The armouring of my wedge should be enough to withstand the attacks I think. 7mm clearance should be easy enough to get under, and then launch it in the air. I€™m not sure the self righting spike will be that reliable, but if it is, I just need to throw it over enough times until it runs out of gas. Or if I can get it out the arena before then, that would be even better.
Good luck to all! Pure Evil, Battle Raptor, Seung Mina, STAT, SYNDOS, Back to Rock, Achilles, Nidhogg and Crimson Thunder are my predictions for the other battles.
Whoops, didnt realise SYNDOS was through too. Itll keep things simple and attack all it can with the disc.
So it€™s time for round 2, the winners of these matches will move forward onto the group stages where the 12 winners will be joined by the 3 seeds, to be spilt into 3 groups of 5, with a seed in each.
So first up is:
Pure Evil: Back to Basics vs. Masamune
In round 1, Pure Evil flipped Y4 out of the arena. Meanwhile Masamune pitted Crooked.
It€™s Frank against Daniel in the first 2nd qualification round battle
3
2
1
Activate
And it starts, the flipping wedge against the sword barrel, both are away, with Pure Evil having a higher top speed, but with only 2 wheels (which I€™m assuming because the stats don€™t actually state how many wheels it has when in wheel-mode), against the 4 wheels of Masamune, with two good drivers, both with an eye on a spot in the groups, as Masamune dodges the attacking run from Pure Evil, as the sword comes out from Masamune, ready to get underneath Pure Evil and to hopefully pit it, whereas the aim from Daniel is to get underneath Masamune and flip it through the hole in the arena wall to score some more points by making Masamune change it€™s shape to fit though the hole which happens to be in the wall. Wait wrong show, as we€™re back to the action.
Masamune dodges another attacking run from Pure Evil, Masamune has a 3cm ground clearance on the sides and rear which Frank must be careful off, whereas Pure Evil has 7mm ground clearance, still large enough to put a sword under, but Dan has an ace up his sleeve, the flipper is powerful enough to rock Pure Evil off the sword, as Frank dodges another attack from Pure Evil, by spinning around and launching into a counter-attack, but Dan dodges and goes into a counter-counter attack, of which Masamune manages to dodge, but with the front wedge of Pure Evil coming close. Masamune turns around and issues a counter-counter-counter attack on the initial attack, but once more Daniel manages to dance away from the front sword of Masamune.
Pure Evil once more attacks Masamune, in a counter-counter-counter-blah-blah-counter attack, this time though Frank dodges well and runs away, in an attempt to get Pure Evil to follow, but watch that pit there Frank, as Masamune narrowly misses the open pit, which would have been embarrassing for Frank, one of the few original people left in the game, after all this time, but Masamune dodges the pit as Pure Evil gives chase, Frank spins around fast and holds fast as for the first time of the battle, both robots meet up, as the front sword of Masamune goes up the wedge of Pure Evil, as Danny puts on full power driving towards the arena wall, as the flipper button is pressed, throwing Masamune in a lovely arc smashing onto the pillows will are around the edge of the arena.
Cease
Masamune is flipped out, Pure Evil: Back to Basics, goes forward onto the group stage and into the actual competition.
1 down, 11 more to go:
Next up it is Battle Raptor 4 vs. Knyfe
I know this has kinda fallen behind (I was hoping to be on the group stage by now). I will try and hammer out some fight at the weekend.
And I said that on the 12th of last month, oops.
I will defo try and do something this weekend, it might be summary battles like the first round, and I might change the format once more from group stages to pure knock-out just to try and cut down the number of fights.
