So can I enter? :proud:
But of course. :proud:
That means that AJ, Martyn, and Matty get to keep their reserved places until Joey gets back from his vacation. Then Im opening them back up. Mkay?
*Puts on a snake-like noise, enough to scare Frank* :)
-2>Remember Matty...time is running out for you in this dimension...unless you get your stats in on time, you will die! *maniacal laugh that deafenes everyone* :proud:
Just to make sure Kody im using the X-terminator with the disc.
Thanks.
I know, Dan. :)
And Paul, be that joking or not, Matty will get his stats in when he wants. I have no intention of starting this THAT quickly. Do remember I have to finish Dual Duels. :P Speaking of which, I must get some battles up there. Heh, oops.

With many thanks to AJ, Dan and Marti, my two newest bots are complete. These two will be replacing The Botles Reunited and SWATbot.
7. Traffic Warden (HW)
SHAPE- rigid U shape, rounded rear
COLOUR- black with a yellow stripe
WEIGHT- 100kg, I hope
DIMENSIONS- 95cm X 150cm X 25cm
SPEED- 15mph

8. Venus Fly Trap (HW)
SHAPE- wedge with sloped rear
COLOUR- green with an ugly great mouth
WEIGHT- 100kg, I hope
DIMENSIONS- 110cm X 70cm X 30cm
SPEED- 12mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 8mm

Size is a problem 3 x 300mm diameter wheels in line with each other is a minimum of 900mm in length. Youll need at least 10mm spacing between each wheel, so 930mm... Yet the robot is only 800mm long. Do the wheels hang massively past the front and back?
Batteries again. Single 40cell (48v) pack will melt when those 4 motors, they can pull up to 960amps EACH! Id advise to drop back to just two of these motors (They are etek size...), run 4 x 40 cell packs and run current limiting at 400amps. This will limit you back to a combined ~25HP peak, but the robot will actually last a match :proud:
Probably still boarder line on the weight, but Ive not the time to sit down and do everything for you :proud:
cheers for them Aaron, you know I never get batteries XD
and had completely missed the wheel fact, lol, shows why not to do stats whilst very hungover.
Is it all full up?
It is until Joey reappears - then its a competition to get into the competition :proud:
Afraid so, but if AJ or Martyn dont get their stats in by the time Joey comes back, you could take one of their places.
*cough* MATTY! *cough :proud:
+1>If this keeps on annoying Matty, Im not doing it to wind him up or force him into anything, its just picking up on a tendency that he has not to enter full stats into a competition until VERY late. If this is gnissip () him off, I can only apologize for my actions.
(Message edited by paulc on August 09, 2008)
Paul, dont do that. Seriously, its annoying. :P
Alright, Ill stop from now-on :proud:
Paul, there are VERY good reasons for that. Im currently wheelchair bound and only came out of hospital 2 weeks ago, and spend a lot of time asleep due to the drugs I have to take. This place is REALLY not my priority. If that doesnt suit you, build a bridge and get over it.
Im sorry - I wasnt aware you were wheelchair bound, and have to sleep for long hours because of the drugs, and fair to you if this place isnt a priority, so I understand perfectly.
If you had MSN, youd know these things, Paulo. You have to get over this problem you have with it. :P
Well, just to make sure I dont miss out if a spot opens and someone fills it before I do (:proud:) Ill put my team down to enter if someone drops out :)

DRIVE- it uses 2 x lem 130€™s
BATTERIES- 4 x 30 cell 36volt 3ah Sanyo NiCad packs
WEAPONS- as I said it has an outer spinning ring so is a fbs the ring is powered by a LEM 200 motor at 60volts, the points on the star each have sharpened teeth on them and it spins in a clockwise direction, each point has 3 teeth on it, one on the bottom for tearing at skirts in wheels, one in the middle for body work and that, and one at the top for aerials and tall robots and also used for bottom teeth when flipped
SRIMECH- Invertible, points and blades stop it from sticking on side
NOTES- Still the only star shaped robot, the weapon is significantly more powerful than before.
STRENGTHS- Powerful weapon and drive
WEAKNESSES- nights with no stars
Name-Panicking Still?
SHAPE- Low invertible box
COLOUR- Yellow except for the lifting forks which are black
WEIGHT- 98kg
DIMENSIONS- 65cm x 60cm x 15cm (Length x Width x Height)
SPEED- 20mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0 mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0 mm at front due to forks, 0 mm at sides and rear due to skirts 6 mm with out, the skirts are hinged so flop over when the robot is flipped. These can be removed before the fight if I wish them to be.
ARMOUR- 5 mm Hardox
MOVEMENT- 6 Vulcalon wheels to give extra pushing power
POWER- 4x S28-400 @ 24volts
WEAPONS- on the front the robot has a pair of invertible lifting forks, the forks are like those on panic attack, the forks are powered by 2 linear actuators
SRIMECH- The robot is invertiable so doesn€™t require one. The robot can€™t rest on its sides, rear or front. Due to the skirts and that the sides are slightly angled. It can€™t rest on its front due to the forks.
STRENGTHS- Low to the ground, reliable weapon
WEAKNESSES- Kind of old design I suppose.
Name- Catus Catus 8.1
SHAPE- It€™s shaped like a cat about to pounce (I have a picture of what I mean if u need it)
COLOUR- black and white
WEIGHT- 150kg (it€™s a shuffle bot)
DIMENSIONS- 90cm X 78cm X 35cm
SPEED- 18mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at the front due to jaws, 0mm at rear due to tail and it now has 0mm side ground clearance due to new side skirts
ARMOUR- it has 4mm hardox
MOVEMENT- moves on 8 inner camshafts (like drillzilla)
POWER - 2 S28-400€™s on 24volts
WEAPONS- It has a front pair of growler style crushers shaped like a cats head powered by a 80mm bore ram with 3000psi hydraulics, the rear weapon is a flipping tail powered by 80mm Bore ram on 1000psi pneumatics.
NOTES- has curved sides to stop landing on side
STRENGTHS- great weapons, self rights with ease
WEAKNESSES- Limited co2
Name: Disco 5
Shape: Low Wedge with small rear wedge
Motivation: it now uses four storm 2 style Vulcalon wheels
Speed: 12.5 Mph
Weight: 100kg
Height: 300mm to top of body, 600mm to the top of the disc
Length: 1300mm
Width: 600mm
Weapon: 500mm Vert. flywheel @ 3000rpm. Has a 4.00 second spin up time due to the C40-500 Magmotor on 36v with a 2:1 twin tension cog belt reduction. The flywheel produces 31.5Kj€™s at maximum RPM but is lethal at around 1 second. The second weapon is also the srimech, this weapon is a low pressure pneumatic flipper running on 10Bar (145psi) running into a single 80mm bore ram. This produces 509kg at the ram and is then transferred into the flipper with a leverage point ratio of 1:1. This is a forward facing flipper like FireStorm and will have no problem toppling the heaviest of robots.
Chassis: 4mm Grade 5 Titanium monocoque with extra 5mm Titanium ribs to give it more rigidity.
Drive: 2 x S28-400 Magmotors @ 36v with a 10:1 Mod 2 spur gear reduction
Batteries: 90 x 3000mAh NiCD cells producing 36v @ 9amp
Color- the robot and skirts and flipper are blue and the disc is yellow
Clearance- it has 0mm at the front due to the wedge it has 0mm at the sides due to skirts its 6mm with out it also has a 0mm at the rear due to the small wedge which is there to replace the problem of the skirt being flipped into the disc. The skirts are NOT hinged and held down by torsion-springs so they shouldn€™t spring up and the rear one shouldn€™t go up into the disc
Notes- The flywheel is at the back off the robot it goes over the back of the wedge so if I can get a robot up the wedge far enough it will be hit by the disc. The shape of the robot stops it from landing on its side.

WEAPONS- it now uses a flipping arm that works much like the matadors or Toro€™s the flipper is powered by co2 on a 120mm pneumatic ram, working at 500psi, the flipper front is pretty unique as its front is like that of a fork lift (it has 2 flat bits of metal) this is welded onto the flipper, the arm can toss robots very high and if possible out of the arena. The prongs of the forklift weapon are used to get under the corners or gaps of skirts
SRIMECH- the flipper self rights the robot but because of the rear wedge thing it self rights like firestorm does i.e. the front wheels will go down first
NOTES- this is a modified version of my robot from the panic attack forum.
STRENGTHS- Power full weapon
WEAKNESSES- limited co2
NAME: Naughty Girl
SHAPE- low box with front scoop built into the shape
COLOUR- purple for the main robot but the axe is black.
WEIGHT- 102kg
SPEED- 17mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at the front due to the scoop shape, 12mm round the sides and rears without skirts, 0mm with them.
ARMOUR- 3.5mm Hardox
TRACKS- the robot runs on tracks much like suicidal tendencies, however unlike suicidal tendencies the tracks aren€™t exposed and the robot is not invertible
POWER- 2 x S28 Magmotors on 24v.
WEAPONS- The robot uses an axe much like you would find on Kat 3, and it operates on a rack and pinion system like terrorhurtz. The axe runs at 250psi off of co2, for which it has a 2kg co2 bottle. The axe head can be replaced for a flipper plate, should the opponent be easy to flip, however the axe will be used in most cases.
SRIMECH- The axe/flipper can easily selfright the robot, this is aided by a curved rear. The sides are slightly curved also to stop the robot resting there.
NOTES- inspiration helped here
STRENGTHS- Damaging weapon
WEAKNESSES- people not liking tracked robots
Name: You€™re dreaming
Shape: circle shaped (like gyrobot)
Color: Black
Motivation: Wheels
Speed: 15MPH
Weight: 98.1kg
Height: 140mm
Length: 700mm
Width: 700mm
Weapon: The weapon is a 1300mm 20.4kg Hardox spinning bar @ 2500RPM. The spinning bar is powered by two Lemco 170 on 48v with 1.5:1 gearing. The weapon is spun up to full speed in 4.32secs, but will be savage by 1second. The spinning bar produces a whooping 110kj¡¦s at the full RPM and has teeth under the blade that sit 50mm from the floor to get those nasty thin dietary bots. The whole weapon is mounted on a 75mm silver steel shaft and uses oilite bearings which are mounted in 20mm titanium mounts which are then welded to the titanium monocoque body. The spinning weapon will self-right the robot if it manages to flip itself via a reverse mauler dance preformed numerous times by Tornado-Mer and Killer Byte.
Drive: The drive is a 4WD system powered by 4 x Astro Flight Cobalt 90¡¦s, each producing 1HP on 24v. The drive isn¡¦t designed for hard pushing, but because of the power in the weapon and the supports on the weapon, the drive shouldn¡¦t have to do any pushing, just a lot of running and chasing.
Batteries: 6 x 24v 3600mAh NiCD Battle packs producing 48v at 9amp.
Armour: 5mm Grade 5 Titanium monocoque with inner 20mm bulkheads
Notes: Hell of a dangerous spinning weapon, because the body of the robot is round, it¡¦s hard for anyone to push the robot around as they will just slides around it.
Weakness- Loopholes
Strengths- I didn€™t design it

*snatches megaphone out of Pauls hands* :P
Paul, where did the stats for Nitro-Gene 5.0 go? :uhoh:
Hmmm... He seems to have sneakily started using NG 4.0 with 4 LEMs, hardox and flipper again... Its that version entered in the Killer Toad...:lame:
Also Paul you seem to be fibbing a bit about Tri-Tainiums battle record :proud: It says 4 wins/1loss, but its lost twice in my tourneys alone! I guess its a typo?
(Message edited by Swim2win on August 13, 2008)
are you saying Paul purposely tries to enter overweight robots? and I say purposely because we TOLD Paul it would be overweight and Paul claimed to take that advise...
now that would be low...
Well if he doesnt explain, Im going to ask him to replace it.
Or, I could wipe his spot...
(Message edited by kodster on August 13, 2008)
Well if you do wipe his spot, you know who Im entering :proud:
Well, after it won FATHR (Fight Against The House Robots), it seemed that there was at least ONE writer on my side, and I also looked, and I thought that 4.0 had more potential than 5.0, but it seems that because Dave and Kody have differing ideas, in Daves tournys, 4.0 is the right side of the limit, but in Kodys tourny, Im screwed :lame:
Dont wipe my spot, as I think I may go back to basics with Nitro, so give me some time.
As for Tri-Tainium, it had 2 losses in Liams tournies, lost its first fight...but it was facing Resonance :proud: but with Gabriel II in C&B: Dual Duels, it beat Acronyms and Woodpecker, but lost to Infusion and SOR X, after me and SOR made contact, both of our weapon cut out, disabling SORs weaponry, but Infusion appeared and tore me a new one :lame: So Ive improved it now.
And Ive now got the new Nitro here.
NITRO-GENE 5.0
€ WEIGHT: 100kg
€ ARMOUR: 3.25mm Hardox for the body, with the panels bolted on onto a steel chassis with Toolox bolts. 6mm Hardox flipper. Inside the body, there€™s 1cm of Vulkanised rubber on the sides and rear, with 3cm on the front to help fight powerful spinners, and theres also 0.5cm of PU foam covering the motors and flipper rams inside for protection.
€ SHAPE: Low invertible box with sides and rear angled in a shape, with the rear angled . The front is completely flat, making it useful at hitting into things and bashing. All the lines have been curved over to make it harder for a spinner to grab onto a panel and rip.
€ MOTORS: 2 Eteks at 48V = 30HP
€ LOCOMOTION: 4 Vulkanised Wheels, each is 40mm in width, and they€™re also 180mm in diameter.
€ DIMENSIONS: (L) 85CM (H) 17CM (W) 60CM
€ COLOUR: Dark Blue all over with the flipper coloured red with the name imblazed on the flipper (running vertically down the robot) in gold writing with a thick silver outline. All the edges of the robot are coloured gold.
€ WEAPONRY: A full pressure Nitrogen powered flipper at 1000psi, using a single 110mm ram at 1000psi. The flipper is mounted in the middle of the robot, and is 15cm wide and runs 75cm up the body. Using a 5cm long 10mm thick Titanium wedge underneath the flipper, and a heavy flipping arm, the flipper runs completely along the ground. Running on a ratio 2.5:1, the flipper produces 1400kg of force at the tips, allowing me to launch anyone away! This version has enough lift to get a robot of equal size 11-6ft into the air, and throw it 11-6ft along. This version has 2 x 1kg Nitrogen bottles, giving me 20 flips! The flipper has enough power to self-right Nitro-Gene 5.0 in a super stylish 540* somersault!
€ SPEED: 22mph
€ GROUND CLEARANCE: 0CM-1CM. At the front, it is completely 0mm. On the skirted sides/rear, its 1cm. 4mm Titanium skirts held on by Hardox hindges are mounted on the sides/rear and join up at the corners, making it harder to get under.
€ STRENGTH: Pushing power and weaponry.
€ WEAKNESS: High ground clearance underneath skirts.
Paul...one Etek is bigger than 2 LEM130s and use more batteries...and its a huge motor, so you wouldnt get 2 in those dimensions.
Stop throwing stats together.
DIMENSIONS: (L) 85CM (H) 22CM (W) 60CM
Is this fine NOW?
No, its even more overweight now.
Like Ive said before, if youre not going to take this seriously... (doing research, in other words)
Could someone like Leo do a weight check for me please?
Ah, so you DO hate me. (dont ask how I know :P)
I know how to check, so Ill do it for you. Unfortunately, with your shape, its hardly possible to perform that armour weight check properly, so Ill assume its like 50kg or something (although your dimensions are shorter, remember Bens bot had 54.9kg with 5mm titanium so thats why Im compensating )
WEIGHT CHECK
Armour = ~50kg
Chassis = ~15kg
Motors = ~19kg
Batteries = ~14.4kg (assuming you use 8 NiCad Battlepacks, which I think is what Eteks need at min :P)
Wheels and gearing = ~15kg
Weapon = ~10kg
Weapon power = ~7.5kg
The rest = ~10kg
All in all, 140.9kg.
Sorry, I cant resist a good old study-procrastination rant (not an angry rant; consider it a mild non-vicious rant :))
What is the obsession with LEMs and (in particular) Eteks for drive motors?
When you have a weapon on a robot, your drive system is merely a means of transporting said weapon across the arena/towards your opponent. When you have a 1000p.s.i nitrogen flipper for example, why stick two hulking great big Eteks in there to drive it? The motors weigh a whack themselves, add on gearboxes strong enough to take the power output and then batteries required to keep the robot running for a battle. Then on top of that, in real life youre never going to be able to put out all that power to the floor with just a 100kg bot.
Why use all that weight on a drive system thats going to be doing very little pushing (because face it - as soon as the front edge of your robot is under the opponent, youre going to fire the flipper - no pushing involved)
Instead use lighter, less power-hungry motors (whats wrong with Bosch 750s - 1hp each, 3kg and still used by a majority of robots on todays live circuit) and the weight saved could be put to better use in the weapon or armour.
Just as an example, Gary Cairns heavyweight robot Hive used Eteks, going into custom-made (also read: heavy) gearboxes, then out through chains and sprockets to drive the wheels. Four Hawkers were required to provide sufficient power and a couple of speedos to control it. Basic box section frame (not much internal bracing so quite a light frame) and what did that weigh? Around the 95kg mark with NO armour and NO active weapon (I believe it got armoured with HDPE in the end)
Cut down to 2WD unlike Hives 4WD, change to Nicads etc and youd save a bit of weight, but still not enough for a working weapon and hardox armour. My opinion is that if you want to lose weight in your robot, downgrade your drives as that will have the least effect on the robots performance. Too much store is set in fights by these superpowered vapourbots getting all their drive power to the arena floor and achieving their maximum power output.
Rant over, time to go study again :)
Right, Paul, can you draw the shape for me and then I will do a more educated guesstimate on the weight.
you say shaped, how far does that stick out? is that also part of the overall l x b x h you gave?
Sorry but I have to say, I physically LOLd when I saw Nitro Gene 5.0s stats.
I completely agree with Jamie here. Focus on either a good drive OR a powerful weapon.
+2>NOT BOTH!!!!!
