Hot Sauce VS Vader
Vaders going doowwwn! :proud:
I believe Vader will be going up actually
Naw, down the pit :proud:
Hot Sauce FTW. Nice battle again, Dan.
Methinks well be getting our first vapourbot Semi-Finalist. :proud:
Its time for our first Heat Final, but before we let the robot combat begin lets see how out heat finalists got this far...
In round 1, Pussycat stormed through the first melee, knocking out the ponderous Brutus Maximus and Twister, with Roobarb getting a good few flips in to sneak that second place. In the other melee, M2 was pitted by Tiberius 3, who was then flipped over by Vaders spinning disc, causing the hydraulic crusher and srimech to break: allowing Hot Sauce into round 2.
In round 2, Vader managed to beat Pussycat on a close Judges Decision, whilst Hot Sauce pitted Roobarb in a flipping fantastic battle.
HEAT A: HEAT FINAL
Hot Sauce VS Vader
Booth One: Simon Latham (Vader)
Booth Two: Chezza
House Robots: Cassius Chrome and Dead Metal.
3...2...1...ACTIVATE!
Vaders ferocious vertical disc begins to spin, but not before Hot Sauce can come in for a front slam into its opponent - the front wedge nearly getting underneath the front of Vader and dodging the ramming spikes. Hot Sauce doesnt give up hope, and uses its pushing ability to slam Vader, disc first, into the arena side wall. The wall shudders on impact, but more importantly the deadly disc on Vader has been stalled. Hot Sauce tries desperately to wriggle underneath the ground clearance of Vader, but the superb driving capabilities of Simon Latham allows Vader to drive away from danger and into the centre of the arena, allowing the disc to spin up once again. Hot Sauce gives chase, and this time manages to get underneath Vader. The front hinged flipper fires, but the flipper wasnt underneath Vader enough and Vader is merely pushed to the side. Vader spins quickly, and wallops the Hardox side armouring of Hot Sauce. The whack sends Hot Sauce over onto its back, but Chezza quickly self rights his robot before Vader can come in on another attack. Hot Sauce manoeuvres to the side of Vader, nipping underneath the high side ground clearance. A fearsome flip by Hot Sauce sends Vader tumbling over onto its side. The disc frantically spining, but doing nothing as Vader, without a srimech, is left stranded and unable to move. Hot Sauce spins a little dance of delight, as it flips its way into the series Semi Finals!!
Vader flipped and unable to self right.
Hot Sauce is through to the Series Semi Finals!

Flick of the Wrist VS Grim Reaper VS Barbaric Response VS Big Nipper
Terrorhurtz (3) VS Killer Kat VS Jackson Wallop VS Gyrobot
Tactics? Predictions? Anything? :proud:
Good fight, even if we all really knew what the outcome would be :proud:
I predict Flick, Big Nipper, Gyrobot, and Jackson Wallop to go through here.
Flick is certainately through, along with Big Nipper, who has very good MagMotors which that others dont have.
Also, Terrorhurtz had better move - its disqualification for a stupid reason was a great dissapointment, and I want to read it battle.
Good battles, but the intros were bad - just some advice :proud:
Well, if not having your robot finished by the time the event comes around is a stupid reason, I hate to think what a sensible one is...
It wasnt so much the disqualification of Terrorhurtz that annoyed me, it was the combination of the fact it WAS a disqualification (come on, you cant say Onslaught was disqualified from Series 4, so why Terrorhurtz?), AND the fact it went through the same introduction, which was just embarrasing for them. Why not do the red-letter thing theyd later use on Typhoon 2?
because the typhoon 2 team wernt around to interview about going out. Teorrhurtz team were, that and they were seeded in the main event.
So? Onslaught was for Series 4. But were they disqualified because their motor conked out (or whatever the problem was)? Nope.
PIT! PIT! PIT!
HEAT B
ROUND 1
Barbaric Response VS Big Nipper VS Flick of the Wrist VS The Grim Reaper
Tough, tough. Ill go for Flick and the Nipper to survive on a judges decision.
Gyrobot VS Jackson Wallop VS Killer Kat VS Terrorhurtz (3)
Kind of a foregone conclusion. :proud:
RECAP
In the last heat, newcomer Hot Sauce flipped its way past M2, Tiberius 3, Roobarb and Vader to take the first semi final place. We have four more fighting robots foaming at the mouth - let Heat B begin! :proud:
HEAT B: ROUND ONE
Flick of the Wrist VS Grim Reaper VS Barbaric Response VS Big Nipper will be posted later once I verify something with Martijn relating to Flick of the Wrist. :)

HEAT B: ROUND ONE
From Bognor Regis... Grim Reaper!
A long awaited return for this robot - last seen in series 3 where it lost to Big Brother. Improved with a pneumatic flipper and low front ground clearance, but with limited CO2 on board and lack of winning experience, could the Grim Reaper go back empty handed?
From Holland... Flick of the Wrist!
This Dutch entry comes equipped with a set of lifting forks, hoping to emulate the success Panic Attack had back in the Second Wars. With 6 wheels and good pushing power, this is one to watch, but could the 22mph top speed be a sprain to control?
From Lancashire... Big Nipper!
This robot almost beat the formidable Razer back in Series 5. Its back with a set of clamping and lifting jaws that can work through 180 degrees. It has got exposed wheels, however, and that high ground clearance may get Big Nipper nipped!
From West Sussex... Barbaric Response!
This robot, powered by 2 x 750watt electric motors, is one to watch in this heat. Armed with a powerful front flipper and good turning capabilities on those two wheels, will Barbaric Response plough its way through the heat, or will their dreams be cut?
Booth One: Simon Smith (Grim Reaper) and Zac Barber (Barbaric Response).
Booth Two: Martijn Benschop and Graeme Dawson (Big Nipper).
House Robots: Mr Psycho and his cuddly pet pooch, Growler! :proud:
3...2...1...ACTIVATE!
Commercial Break! :proud:
This isnt America, we dont get breaks at random intervals. ;)
Its Dans tournament, he can do what he wants, shut up. :P
And after what must be the longest commerical break in Television history, normal programming is resumed. :proud:
This battle was exeptionally hard for me to write, mainly because I felt that any combination of robots could be knocked out. After much thought, this is the result. I apologize in advance! :proud:
Flick of the Wrist immediately charges towards the pit release button, leaving the other 3 robots scrapping it out in the centre of the arena. Barbaric Response and Grim Reaper sandwich Big Nipper in the middle, both flippers getting underneath the horizontal pincer-bot and giving it some airtime. Graeme Dawson quickly recovers and drives a now inverted Big Nipper into the side of the Barber familys Barbaric Response. Martijn drives Flick of the Wrist (Flicky for short in this battle! :proud:) in the direction of the metal munching mayhem, and plunges the lifting forks straight underneath Grim Reapers ground clearance. A quick-thinking flip by Simon Smith rocks Grim Reaper enough to get it off the forks. Barbaric Response tries frantically to get away from Big Nipper, who is chasing the flipper down, hoping to get it in its grasp. Zac Barber turns Barbaric Response quickly on the spot using its 0m turning circle, allowing Big Nipper to drive straight up the front wedge. The tables have turned as now Barbaric Response speeds towards the arena side wall, and with a flip Big Nipper is sent... into the wall with a bang. Flicky charges towards Barbaric Response, and spears the Lexan armour with the lifting forks. Martijn uses the 6 wheel drive and tremendous traction on Flicky to drive his victim (who is frantically firing the flipping in any hope of freeing itself) towards Growlers CPZ. Grim Reaper and Big Nipper tussel towards the arena side wall, both robots getting good hits on each other in the process. Grim Reaper slides the flipper plate underneath Big Nipper, and uses the full pressure pneumatic flipper to hoist Big Nipper OOTA. Growler, meanwhile uses its huge jaws to grab Barbaric Response to loosen it from Flickys grip. Martijn doesnt give Zac Barber a second to regain control of the fight, as Flicky slams into the side of Barbaric Response yet again, this time slamming it into the arena wall. Flicky backs off, before getting flipped by a very sneaky Grim Reaper. Zac Barber looks disheartened, as he frantically tries to get Barbaric Response moving once again: it looks like the slam into the arena wall was too much for it to take.
Big Nipper OOTA and Barbaric Response immobolised!
Grim Reaper and Flick of the Wrist go through!
HEAT B: ROUND TWO
Flick of the Wrist VS Jackson Wallop
Grim Reaper VS Gyrobot
Tactics? Predictions? A Celebratory Spanish Dance? :proud:
Good battle, considering how evenly matched the robots were and all the agonizing prior to you writing it :P
As for predictions, Jackson Wallops weapon is 33cm off the floor...which is 13cm higher than Flick Of The Wrist. As much as I like it, Jackson is going down...
Well, theres a surprise. Poor old Nipper. It was a close match-up, Ill say that.
Ill also say Flick of the Wrist will join and beat the Grim Reaper in the Heat Final.
Tactics? Nope.
Predictions? But of course. :proud:
Flick of the Wrist vs. Jackson Wallop
Lets see. 1 20cm high bot + 1 other bot with a 33cm high spinning horizontal weapon = Flick of the Wrist going through easily. :proud:
Grim Reaper VS Gyrobot
Dont fear the Reaper, hes come to give you a peaceful death, Gyrobot. :proud:
Spanish dance? Bugger off. :P
Kody, did you clearly not see the obvious wink? If anyone needs to shut up, its You! Sheesh! What rule states IM not allowed to have a joke every now and then?
quote:
Kody, did you clearly not see the obvious wink? Neither did you I guess Chris?
No, I clearly saw my own wink. Kody didnt and blatantly insulted me.
Leo is referring to KODYs wink, Kody was having a bit of fun just like you were.
One could argue shut up was a tad too harsh, meh.
No, that was not a wink. That was a tongue stick out.
I did - ;)
He did - :P
Difference.
And they have a similar meaning of fun and jokeyness, if anything Kodys was more of a joke than yours.
QED?
Sheesh, Chris, acting a bit like Tony, arent you? :P
Right. From the wikipedia regarding emoticons:
quote:
:-P tongue out, happy, or being silly
May I suggest we put this to rest please?
Agreed. Besides, Ive already won, so theres no reason to argue further. :proud:
Well, considering I was making a joke (be fair, America is completely random with its commercials), that didnt come out as very joking.
I suppose you orrid lot want the next battles. :proud:
HEAT B: ROUND TWO

Flick of the Wrist (a.k.a. Flicky :proud:) VS Jackson Wallop
Booth 1: Martijn Benschop
Booth 2: Bernie Ryder
House Robots: Shunt and Growler, grrrr! :proud:
3...2...1...ACTIVATE!
Straight away, the spinning blade of Jackson Wallop starts to rotate, whirring manically as Bernie Ryder moves his machine nearer the centre of the arena. Flicky slams into Jackson Wallop, the blade too high to hit the Dutch robot. Jackson Wallop is shoved straight into the arena wall, and the blade causes a huge gouge into the Perspex. Flicky backs off and comes in on another slam, raising the forks so they are parallel with the main body. Bernie Ryder manages to move Jackson Wallop out of the way just in time, with Flicky hurtling into the arena wall. Jackson Wallop gets the blade spinning back up again and this time heads towards the pit release button, but before it can make it, Flicky drives into the back of the Wallop, managing to get the forks underneath its ground clearance. Martijn lifts the forks on Flicky, attempting to turn over the machine from Southampton. The blade of Jackson Wallop hits the arena floor, chunks of wood littering the arena as Bernie Ryder€™s machine bounces uncontrollably, yet manages to stay on its wheels. With the blade slowed to a stop, Martijn drives Flicky into Jackson Wallop, and slams it into the arena wall again, this time one of the large blades of Jackson Wallop grazes the pit release button. The foghorn blasts out as the pit begins to descend. Flicky raises the forks again and takes advantage of its opponent€™s vulnerable ground clearance. With some careful driving and a lot of patience, Martijn drives Flicky and its victim near the pit, before dumping Jackson Wallop unceremoniously out of the competition.
Jackson Wallop pitted.
Flick of the Wrist goes through to the heat final!
HEAT B: HEAT FINAL
Flick of the Wrist VS Grim Reaper.
Tactics? Predictions? Would you like fries with that? :proud:
PIT! PIT! PIT!
Another good battle, Dan :)
Heat final...hmm, tough one. Ill go with Flicky to become the second vapour semi-finalist.
Another heat comes to a close as we reach the heat final, but before we let the metal munching carnage begin, let€™s see how our competitors got this far!
In round 1, both Flick of the Wrist and Grim Reaper saw off challenges from veteran robots Barbaric Response and Big Nipper, the latter being flipped OOTA by Grim Reaper, whilst Gyrobot and Jackson Wallop kicked Killer Kat into submission in a 3 way melee after the seeded Terrorhurtz failed to make it into the arena in time!
Round 2 was pretty one sided for both machines, as Flick of the Wrist was just too low for the blade of Jackson Wallop as Bernie Ryder€™s machine was dumped into the pit, and Gyrobot€™s spinning shell failed to cause mischief to Grim Reaper, who won a Judge€™s Decision.
HEAT B: HEAT FINAL
Flick of the Wrist VS Grim Reaper.
Booth One: Simon Smith (Grim Reaper)
Booth Two: Martijn Benschop
House Robots: Dead Metal, and the king of dead metal, Sir Killalot! :proud:
3€¦2€¦1€¦ACTIVATE!
Both robots immediately charge towards each other, the front flipping blade of Grim Reaper and the lifting forks of Flicky clashing in the middle of the arena. Neither robot can exploit their opponents ground clearance, so the robots are left pushing and shoving each other around the arena, Flicky€™s 6WD managing to gain more traction on the arena floor, resulting in Grim Reaper being manoeuvred into Dead Metal€™s CPZ, the whirring saw blade on the House Robot desperate for the taste of oil and metal! Grim Reaper finds itself in the clutches of Dead Metal, and desperately fires the flipper in an attempt to flee the CPZ. The saw blade slices through Grim Reaper€™s armoury, before the House Robot allows its prey to get back into the fight. Simon Smith slams Grim Reaper into the side of Flicky, and drives it towards the arena wall. The flipper fires, and Flicky narrowly misses going out of the arena, instead being slammed into the arena wall next to the flame pit. Martijn looks surprised by that unexpected onslaught, and tries to get back on top in this battle by driving the forks - which are lowered to the ground - at Grim Reaper. However, the Grim Reaper dodged the attack, spun around and got Flicky on the flipper plate once more, resulting in the Dutch robot going airborne. Flicky lands on the arena floor upside down with a thud but, due to its invertability, quickly scurries away from Grim Reaper, allowing Martijn to bring the forks back into a good position. Grim Reaper goes in on the attack with the flipper, aiming to get underneath the front forks of Flicky. However, it€™s Flicky that manages to get underneath Grim Reaper, and slams Grim Reaper into the arena side wall using its 22mph top speed. The Bognor Regis machine is shook up, but comes back on the attack, once again aiming to get the flipping plate underneath the ground clearance of Flicky. Martijn decides its time to release the pit, as Flicky slams into the pit release button, leaving Grim Reaper to give chase. Flicky and Grim Reaper slam into each other, the forks and flipping plate becoming wedged together, leaving both machines tangled in a desperate dance of death. Flicky tries desperately to line up Grim Reaper with open pit, but Simon Smith battles furiously and stops Martijn from doing just that. A flip from Grim Reaper sends Flicky into the air and frees both robots from each other. Simon Smith uses this to his advantage, and continues on the attack, flipping Flicky over and over again before Martijn can do anything. As Flicky finally manages to land back on its wheels, Martijn puts his robot€™ to the test - slamming Flicky straight into the Grim Reaper at its top speed of 22mph. Flicky rides up the front wedge of Grim Reaper, and before Martijn can reverse off, Simon Smith is already driving nearer and nearer the arena wall. He fires the flipper once more. Everything goes in slow motion for Martijn, as all he can do is see Flick of the Wrist tumble over the arena side wall and out of the competition.
Flick of the Wrist came and went, as the Grim Reaper shall reap once more!
Grim Reaper is through to the Series Semi Finals!
Next time on Vapourbot Vengeance€¦
HEAT C
Dantomkia (5) VS Rick VS King B Powerworks VS Hassocks Hog 2
IG-88 VS Axetra VS The Stag VS Scorpion
Tactics? Predictions? Dust? Anyone? No? Dust? Anyone? No? Dust? Anyone? No? Dust?
Theres no fat in dust :P
I think with IG-88 in there, Axetra may be doomed.
Actually there is... dust is tiny flakes of skin, and the cell membrance of all cells is made of fat...
...thankyou for telling me that. :proud:
Damnit, Martijn, why did you have to lose :P
Prediction: Axetra out, and The Stag or Scorpion to follow.
