AJWars: Another Era
mark, you seem to be highly inteligent, and Im very dumb, please tell me...
1. How can a 5 mm titanium robot not be damaged by a powerful disc
2. Why dus 0 mm turning circle mean your sides are unreachable
and
3. WHEN you get under him the disc would hit you at the same time methinks, am I wrong?
-
AJWars: Another Era
1: There would be only light damage.
2: I did some research, and it doesnt.
3: No.
-
AJWars: Another Era
It depends how its mounted...it is entirely possible for a plate of 5mm titanium to just be ripped off by a moderate spinner, and that goes for Hardox as well. Not forgetting actual armour damage is usually less significant than shock damage, which isnt visible but will kill your robot...

ELIMINATORS
Aftershock VS E CLAWDIUS UNUM
Charge straight in. I believe I have the speed advantage here, so I should be able to stop the drum and get underneath before it can deal too much damage to me. Once the drum is stopped, bring down the beak and get a good grip on it. Open the pit and dump the bugger in. If I can penetrate the titanium shell, even better. If I can puncture the tyres at some point, even betterer.

There would be only light damage.
Tell that to Biohazard. He got mangled by Megabyte. :P

AJWars: Another Era
Oh dear€¦
«Just so you know, Cyrilium 2 is hard to beat, so technically, I shouldnt have suffered that damage.»
Mark, did the battle not reflect that Cyrillium 2 was hard to beat? Most robots would not last that long against Infusion, so you should be glad that you did. Why exactly should you not have been damaged? 5mm Titanium these days, even in reality, is considered pretty poor for armouring. In the vapourbot world, you€™re almost asking to be destroyed. I seem to recall Hypno-Disc sliced up Dominator II€™s 7mm Titanium once. Now put into perspective the power of Infusion vs. your 5mm Titanium€¦
«I wouldnt have let him get to my sides, cause I have a 0mm turning circle.»
Unless you have some sort of omni-drive, which you don€™t, your sides are fully reachable. Just because you say you wouldn€™t let him get to your sides, it doesn€™t mean that he wouldn€™t. 99% of robots have a 0mm turning circle, but that means nothing€¦ its driving skill, speed, drive set-up and so on which effect the driveability of your robot. Aaron could easily make a point that you shouldn€™t have got round Infusion€™s sides as that also has a 0mm turning circle.
«I also would have gotten under him before his powerful disc wouldve hit me.»
Yes, and you did several times€¦ what point are you trying to make here? Also, Infusion doesn€™t have a powerful disc, it has a spinning rim. Unfortunately there were very few places you could attack without being hit by it.
«Regardless, if theres a rematch, I know that you will write the fight very well.»
Thank you, but there will be no rematch as it stands. You have yet to make a legitimate reason for why there should be a rematch.
«Lets not forget Aaron did not give tactics.»
So what? I swear some of the newer members of the area have come from planet ARC. Tactics are not, and never will be as far as I am concerned, a requirement for a battle to be written. Your robots stats should be written in a way in which it is obvious what its intentions are. Tactics aren€™t needed. This isn€™t a role-play based game, it is based on stats. So what if Aaron didn€™t have a battle plan? Does that mean Infusion should just sit there and wait for you to push it into the pit?
Up until now I haven€™t criticised your actions over the past couple of months. But you are clearly beginning to annoy a lot of people, including myself. Just use a bit of common sense in future, please€¦ :)

Typhoon 2 vs. Storm 2 springs to mind, the armour might be able to restand the pressure but the shock waves break the method the armour is held onto the chassis.
-
AJWars: Another Era
I think actually, if you watch that clip of the final, you can see that Typhoon DIDNT cause the damage - if you watch near the end, in the second-to-last CPZ Typhoon was pushed into, Matilda came and unfairly pushed Storm in and cause that damage to Storm and not Typhoon, presumably becuase those idiots at Mentorn didnt wish for a rammer to win two years in a row. I would find you proof, but there arent any videos of the fight anywhere for me to find.
The reason Cyrillium 2 got battered is because its crap. And Mark claims its hard to beat, and its had battles against No Objections, Nitro-Gene 4.0, Liar 2 and Infusion - and lost them all and every time claimed it was unfair that he lost and has complained - that he lost - fairly - against a better robot.
How about this Mark - make your robot better, and try to get a better rep (Itll be tough, but I managed it) and if you lose, check that the loss was unfair, THEN COMPLAIN. I know you havent made it easy for yourself, but Im really getting irritated for some of the rubbish you produce from outside and inside vapourbot tournuments.

E Clawdius Unum vs. Aftershock
E Clawdius Unum is a box wedge with skirts at the sides and rear. Two S28-400 Magmotors for drive provide 14mph speeds on a four wheel drive system. The weaponry is a hydraulic crushing arm running at 3000psi. E Clawdius Unum also carries spikes and barbs to ram into the opposition. E Clawdius Unum can self-right using linear actuator powered side arms and is armoured in 4mm Hardox.
Aftershock takes its design from the robot Barberous. S28-150 Magmotors contained within produce 10mph speeds. Between the two wheels is a drum spinning at 3500rpm dishing out 43kJ of energy. On the other end of each wheel are wheel hubs that spin at 6000rpm and give out 31kJ. The drum and hubs are 9mm thick Titanium.

E Clawdius Unum is first away, darting across the arena attempting to reach Aftershock before it has spun up to speed. Kody quickly turns his robot out of the way and Clawdius hurtles into the arena wall! Aftershock, now spinning well, comes in for an attack round the back of Clawdius and strikes with the drum! The impact flicks Clawdius up and nearly out of the arena! Aftershock backs away to get the central drum spinning again. Steve turns Clawdius round and goes back in for a suicide dive. This time Aftershock does not evade it as well, but does manage to clip Clawdius with one of the spinning hubs while turning. Aftershock goes slightly unbalanced, while Clawdius seems largely unaffected. The crusher-equipped robot has another attack, sliding the wedge perfectly between the two wheels and runs the wedge right into the drum! The collision causes a shower of sparks and some barbs are ripped clean away from Clawdius€™ wedge. However the drum is now stalled and Steve steers Clawdius neatly in and grasps the drum between the claw and wedge!
The claw comes down and locks Aftershock in the grip, however it is struggling to penetrate the 9mm Titanium armouring. Kody continues to spin the side hubs and wheels, but Aftershock just cannot get free! Clawdius slowly lines itself up and begins to push Aftershock across the arena. Clawdius first carries Aftershock over to the flame grill, and the flames lick out but cause little harm to Aftershock€¦ Clawdius then drags Aftershock away and rams it into the pit release target. The pit starts to descend€¦ and Aftershock is away! The impact of Clawdius slamming Aftershock into the pit release appears to have shaken the drum-bot free! Kody promptly gets Aftershock well away and begins to spin up the large central drum. Clawdius turns and quickly follows, and a chase begins! Aftershock quickly swerves away from Clawdius, and then comes in for a side on attack! The drum slams into the side of Clawdius and the collision causes it to be thrown onto its side! Aftershock continues its charge and hits the underside of E Clawdius Unum with one of its spinning hubs, causing a small dent.
The side arm pops out of Clawdius and it makes its way back to its wheels. Aftershock quickly comes in for another attack and rides right up the wedge, but this time the drum manages to deflect it away before the claw could come into play. However, the impact caused the drum to slow down and Clawdius again slips in and gets a grip around the drum, but once again Aftershock gets away right at the last moment! Kody then steers Aftershock side-by-side with Clawdius and catches the side plate with one of the hubs, causing a few sparks. The drum starts spinning again as the two robots dodge and try to find an opening€¦ Aftershock gets there first and delivers a nice attack on the side of Clawdius, causing more sparks to spray out and both robots bump away. But Clawdius quickly recovers and turns in to pin Aftershock against the arena wall. The claw comes down and again Aftershock is caught in the grip of E Clawdius Unum.
Clawdius turns and heads towards the pit, but one of Aftershock€™s wheels has purchase on the floor and is digging in, making it difficult. Clawdius slowly jolts forwards and comes within inches of the pit, with Aftershock€™s one wheel slowly moving them away from it. Clawdius turns and edges both robots right onto the edge of the pit! One of Aftershock€™s wheels is now hanging right above the pit, while the other continues to spin, now emitting smoke. Clawdius backs up slightly and turns Aftershock right over the pit, but Aftershock digs in once more to steer it just clear. Grey smoke is now pouring out of the side of Aftershock as Clawdius releases its grip and sets Aftershock free. Aftershock is balancing on the edge of the pit, the hubs are moving, but little else seems to be alive and Clawdius rounds it off with the final shove.
CEASE!
E Clawdius Unum helps Aftershock into the pit, and goes marching on!

AJWars: Another Era
...in...infusion...
*cries softly in a corner*
TACTICS:
Box rush. Get over there before Infusion can spin up, and try and get under it from the side (my maneuvrability will help here). If I manage that, DONT USE THE FLIPPER. Try and keep it high-centred on the bodyshell, hit the pit release, and try and pit the bloody thing (using the flipper for this stage if necessary). If this fails (which, lets face it, is more than likely) try and angle into the spinner so the HDPE is ripped off without much damage being caused to me, and that might slow down the weapon enough to let me get underneath. Might being very much the key word there...
Good luck Aaron, although you dont really need it :proud:

Gabriel II v Infusion
Ill counter Joeys box rush with a box rush of my own! Hit him with the wedge first, so it doesnt affect the spin up time of the rim.
Basically try to aim for the Titanium/UHPE areas and cause damage there. Another trick will be to wedge him into the wall and hopefully halfway on top of Infusion, then spin on the spot and his baseplate should fall into one of the upper teeth. This is a harder manuver to pull off, but is the best place to cause serious damage to him, since that base plate is only 3mm aluminium.

Liar 2 may be fast and the flipper may be powerful, but with only two wheels and such a narrow front, it should have a hard time getting under me. Attack from the sides or rear, get underneath, grapple and pit.

Gabriel II vs. Infusion

ACTIVATE!
Both robots start off with the same idea as they both go straight across the arena and slam into each other head to head. The impact of both robots hurtling into each other deflects them both away from each other. Gabriel II being the slightly more nimble reacts first and turns for an attack at the side of Infusion. However Joey is quickly put off by the spinning rim of Infusion and manoeuvres for an attack on the wedge. Infusion backs up causing Gabriel II to miss it. Infusion responds by using a side on charge at Gabriel II, getting under the side ground clearance and ramming it hard into the arena wall at full boost speed. Gabriel II is stunned by the attack and Infusion is allowed to plough back in with the wedge. Infusion tries for the hat-trick but instead rams the wall as Gabriel II squirms away.
Gabriel II takes its turn for a charge and this time slides nicely under Infusion and quickly operates the flipper, looking for an OOTA attempt. Infusion bounces nicely down, but Joey follows up with another attack, carefully edging Infusion up onto the wedge. Rather than firing the flipper, Gabriel II starts to carefully push Infusion with its wedge shape. Gabriel II approaches the pit release and suddenly picks up the speed, slamming Infusion into it and firing the flipper at the same time! Infusion smashes into the pit release and the pit begins to fall. Gabriel II follows up again with another drive straight in and under Infusion! Gabriel II€™s momentum carries it straight into the arena wall€¦ and Infusion gets a great strike in with the rim, putting a slash in the HDPE/Titanium rear armour combo.
Gabriel II tries to get away, but Infusion stops it in its tracks and gives it a nice grilling on the flame pit! Joey quickly moves Gabriel II away before the HDPE becomes damaged, but in doing so gets boosted into the nearby wall by Infusion. Stunned from the attack, Gabriel II is unable to get away allowing Infusion to bury itself into the side panel, putting another nice slide in the HDPE. Gabriel II saves itself from another attack and shoots away. Infusion chases and uses the boost to catch up with Gabriel II and get it nicely positioned on the wedge€¦ and Infusion makes a dash for the pit! Joey realises just in time and pulls Gabriel out of the way, causing Infusion to fly close to suicide! Infusion also turns at the last moment to stay in the arena.
Gabriel II approaches Infusion, as Aaron swings Infusion violently round and digs the spinning rim right into the side armour, causing some nasty scratches. But with the rim slowed down Gabriel II takes its chance and gets the wedge under Infusion again. Once more, instead of flipping, Gabriel II opts to push, but this allows Infusion to falls straight off the wedge€¦ Gabriel II flicks the flipper but doesn€™t get much purchase and only knocks Infusion backwards. Joey decides Gabriel II is battling to close to the pit for comfort and moves away to the middle of the arena, eventually followed by Infusion. Gabriel II has a rush at Infusion but rides straight up the wedge and over the top! Aaron quickly spins Infusion round and slides the wedge under the back of Gabriel II and begins a push€¦ into the pit!
CEASE!
Gabriel II is pitted, as Infusion moves to the finals!

Liar 2 vs. E Clawdius Unum

ACTIVATE!
One more place in the final is up for grabs, but who is going to take it? Liar 2 seems most determined from the start, travelling across the arena at its top speed of 22mph. The two robots meet wedge to wedge on impact and deflect away. Clawdius turns sharpest and attempts to get its wedge under Liar 2, but Martijn quickly reverses away. The shining silver wedge has another ram towards E Clawdius Unum, this riding right up the wedge of the crusher bot! Thankfully for Liar 2, it can get out of the way again before the claw could come into play. It is a nervous start for both competitors, who edge around each other looking for an opening. It is Steve who has the first attempt, but Clawdius takes its turn to drive up the wedge of Liar 2 and over the top. Liar 2 launches its giant flipper open in a delayed reaction, flipping itself over. But this proves to be an advantage for the Dutch robot, who now has its wedge facing the side of Clawdius and drives in on the attack. Liar 2 slides under the skirt of E Clawdius Unum and quickly fires the flipper, throwing the green robot high into the air. Clawdius thumps back down hard onto its side and bounces back right way up.
Martijn seems to be happy with Liar 2€™s first attack and quickly goes in search of a second. Liar 2 rushes in towards E Clawdius Unum but again rides up the wedge of Clawdius, and the claw almost gets hold of Liar 2, who again manages to back away at the right moment. The scratch on the paintwork of Liar 2 shows how close Clawdius was to getting a grip! This time Martijn more cautiously drives around to the sides of Clawdius, but the skirting means that Liar 2 cannot get under. This allows Steve to quickly turn Clawdius round on the spot and get the claw around one of the axlebot style wheels of Liar 2. But again, Liar 2 is too hard to get a grip on and gets away in the nick of time. Finding it hard to get a grip on the slippery customer, Clawdius instead reverts to another plan and heads to the top of the arena to hit the pit release. The pit begins to lower, as Liar 2 starts coming across the arena at speed€¦ and the axlebot slams itself hard into the rear of E Clawdius Unum, gets under and gets a flip in! The crusher bot grazes the polycarb screening and lands back in the arena upside down! An amazing attack from Liar 2 saw it travel the whole length of the arena, fly into Clawdius at its top speed of 22mph and get a great flip in, almost scoring an OOTA.
Clawdius is stunned by the assault and operates one of its linear actuator operated pneumatic arms (:lame:) and rolls back to its wheels. Liar 2 turns to face Clawdius and both robots charge at each other, with Clawdius choosing to turn away at the last minute. This opens up a great opportunity for E Clawdius Unum, which it takes. The crusher bot slides its wedge nicely under the side of Liar 2 and the claw comes down to get a good grip on the 5mm Hardox body shell of Liar 2. However the armouring proves too difficult to penetrate, and so Clawdius instead turns to some grab and smash techniques. Martijn spins the wheels of Liar 2, but can get little purchase on the arena floor. Clawdius takes control and turns Liar 2 round, and begins to head towards the pit. Martijn has some quick thinking and decides to fire the flipper. The flip throws both robots completely over! Liar 2 remains in the grip of Clawdius, with its wheels spinning in mid air. Clawdius is resting on its back, still clinging on to Liar 2 and trying to use its side arms to get it back on its feet. Martijn fires the flipper again and the grip is released.
Liar 2 takes no time at all to position its wedge under Clawdius and begins to push it towards the arena walls. But E Clawdius Unum finally manages to turn itself right side up, causing Liar to flip prematurely! Clawdius sails vertically into the air and crashes back down right way up again. Liar 2 spins and goes in for another attack. Again, Steve steers E Clawdius Unum out of the way and turns in for another grapple. This time Martijn knows what to do and immediately fires the flipper to release the grip, but Clawdius is relentless and continues to drive on, scooping Liar up with its wedge. Liar 2 backs away from danger before the claw gets locked in again. Clawdius once again follows it, but drives straight up the wedge of Liar 2 and Martijn responds quickly! It€™s all over! One moment of madness and E Clawdius Unum is launched over the arena wall!
CEASE!
E Clawdius Unum is left out of the arena, and Liar 2 advances!

Infusion vs. Liar 2
Before we head off to the final, lets remind ourselves of how these two got this far. Infusion first of all demolished Cyrillium 2, taking off pieces of armour and finally leaving it immobile. In the second round, Infusion then went head to head with Gabriel II. Infusion again caused damage, although not as much as in the earlier round and instead resorted to putting Gabriel in the pit. Liar 2 started off against similar robot Nitro-Gene 4.0. In controversial fashion, Liar 2 picked up Nitro-Gene and threw it out of the arena for the win. Next came E Clawdius Unum, and after a backwards and forwards exchange, the crusher bot also found itself on the wrong side of the fence. Now, lets get on with the final!
3€¦

Liar 2 is first to get the final underway, moving straight across the arena towards Infusion. Aaron slides Infusion away quickly and dodges the attack. Liar 2 grazes the side of Infusion, but thankfully the spinning rim has not yet spun up to speed and no damage is caused. Infusion drives into the centre of the arena and readjusts to face the oncoming Liar 2. Martijn drives his robot forwards at full pace and rides right up the front wedge of Infusion and over the top. Infusion takes its chance to strike and reverses into Liar 2, catching the 5mm Hardox but causing little damage. Both robots move away from each other to prepare for the next attack, but before Liar can even turn, Infusion rockets back in on the attack using its kinetic boost and slams Liar 2 across the arena and into the wall. Infusion then backs out before coming in on another slam, pinning Liar 2 against the wall. The spinning rim starts whirring towards its full potential and another attack comes in, and the rim slices against the 5mm Hardox front again. But Liar 2 is standing up well to the attacks, or at least more so than Gabriel II and Cyrillium 2 did in earlier rounds. Unimpressed with the lack of damage caused, Aaron changes his plan and instead scoops up Liar 2 on the wedge and begins to push it across the ring. The kinetic boost activates and both robots fly across the flame grill and into the North-West corner of the arena with a big impact!
Both robots are shaken by the attack, hitting solid metal at 25mph. But both live to fight another day as Infusion retreats back to the middle of the arena, followed by Liar 2. Infusion again has a run up to Liar 2, but this time Martijn craftily dodges out of the way. In doing so Liar 2 follows up with an axlebot style spin, smashing one of its large side spikes into the Australian robot. Liar 2 then approaches cautiously, only for Infusion to quickly boost away to safety. Again, the two robots choose to go on a head to head charge, and this time it is Infusion that flies up and over the top of Liar 2€™s wedge. And in a similar manner to before, Infusion quickly reverses into an attack, this time nicely catching one of the wheels of Liar 2 and causing a few sparks to fly. Infusion turns and slides under Liar 2 and begins another flight across the arena floor€¦ this time slamming it into the pit release target. The pit begins to drop, as Infusion scoops Liar 2 up on the wedge again and turns around. Infusion begins to push Liar 2 across the arena€¦ but Liar 2 flips! Martijn flings his robot away from danger, watching as Infusion veers away from the pit just in time! Infusion seemed to be looking to pit Liar 2 and due to some tactical thinking from the Team Varying Every Day captain, Infusion nearly ended up pitting itself.
But the fight continues, as both robots get to the arena centre and begin to look for an opening. Infusion does so first, turning its rim into the side of Liar 2 and hitting one of the side spikes, bending it to the side! The first real damage of the fight has been caused, which pleases Aaron. In fact, Infusion is hungry for more damage and hits again, slamming into the side bodywork but causing nothing more than a scratch to the paint job. Infusion travels away to spin up again, but Liar 2 is on pursuit, and a chase around the arena develops. However Infusion appears to be the better controlled robot and is keeping its distance€¦ until now! The rim connects with the front wedge and both robots are sent spinning away from each other! Infusion attacks for a second time, again clipping the front wedge and causing a shower of sparks. But Liar 2 is still withstanding everything that Infusion is throwing at it. Infusion again goes to spin up, and once more Liar 2 goes on the chase. Infusion turns nicely round Liar 2 and leaves it exposed for an attack, which Infusion gladly takes. Infusion unleashes its energy and connects the fully spun up rim nicely onto the right-sided wheel of Liar 2! A second successive assault targets the wheel, this time ripping off a few strips of Vulkanised rubber. Liar 2 tries to get away€¦ but it€™s going nowhere fast! The attacks seem to have locked up one of Liar€™s wheels!
Turning on the spot, Liar 2 has become a sitting duck for Infusion and the Dutch robot quickly gets boosted into the arena wall. The impact could not have been better for Infusion, as Liar 2€™s already damaged wheel is now hanging loose on what appears to be a broken axle. That side of the drive is now certainly finished! Liar 2 sits turning in an arc while Infusion ominously waits, spinning the rim faster, and faster, and faster€¦ and Infusion attacks the wheel again, sending Liar spinning. Smoke is now slowly creeping out of the side of Liar 2€™s broken wheel arch. But Infusion isn€™t finished yet and begins to spin up again. Again, the rim comes into play€¦ but rides right up the wedge of Liar 2, who flips! A small lapse of concentration and Infusion is launched 7ft in the air! Thankfully for Aaron, Infusion crashes back down inside the fire€¦ I mean arena. :uhoh: Liar 2 again begins to spin round, but this time in axlebot mode. Attack me if you dare seems to be the message from Martijn. Infusion obliges and goes in scoop first, taking a whack from the previously bent spike on the side of Liar 2.
However the attack has little effect, and Infusion again backs away to get spun up. This time more cautiously approaching Liar 2€¦ and gets another attack in, this time on the working wheel. However no damage seems to have been done. Infusion instead turns its attention to the main body and drives the rim into that, scratching the paintwork but doing not a lot else. Seemingly unable to cause any real damage to the bodywork of Liar 2, Infusion decides it wants to round things off a different way and begins to line itself up and boosts Liar 2 across the arena towards the pit€¦ but Liar 2 flips out of the way for the second time this match! Infusion once again almost lures itself into the pit but slams on the breaks and gets away. Instead, Infusion slams its rim into the side of Liar 2 and sends it spinning into oblivion.
