Im not sure if youd need a motor to power the skirt, if you got enough inertia while spinning (very easy) the centriwhatever force would cause it to rise naturally, provided you had rubber or something between the segments of it to let it flex a bit.
I understand what you mean Joey, but that only brings it up enough to become a big tooth, which isnt what I want I want it to come up and rest along the shell, so the teeth on this can hit properly.
And to Mark, other people use MagMotrs as well at 36V.

This battle will be Crimson Thunders first defence of the challenge belt!Attempting to prise it from his vice grip will be MeCannibal 2.0, a shufflebot from the creator of Nitro-Gene 4.0, the previous holder of the belt.
Patrolling the CPZs we have Dead Metal and the ever-powerful bulldozer Shunt.
MeCannibal 2.0 is a shufflebot, and so weighs 110kg, 10kg more than its opponent.Its also invertible and has a powerful spinning ring, so watch out!
Crimson Thunder is your classic rambot, but dont say its old fashioned or youll be in the pit before you know it!

Crimson Thunder immediately heads for the pit release tyre, opening the chasm while MeCannibal gets that powerful spinner up to full speed.Crimson Thunder goes after MeCannibal,planning to stop the spinner by ramming it into the arena wall. However, as it makes contact MeCannibals ring tears off the front wedge, leaving innards exposed to attack!And attack is precisely what MeCannibal has in mind!Paul spins up and hits again, ripping out a drive motor!Crimson Thunders only got three wheels left on that wagon and is in dire need of a comeback!But MeCannibal isnt known for its merciful tactics and strikes again,this time tearing out the dead wheel and a side panel!
Refbot moves in to check Crimson Thunder out, and decides the spinner is down and out!

Dead Metal clamps hold of Crimson Thunder and drags it onto the floor flipper, where it flies through the air coming to rest on the flame pit.Shunt then pushes it onto the Drop Zone, where Crimson Thunder meets a washing machine!

In the pits we discover that Crimson Thunder was immobilised because the second strike from MeCannibal knocked out its removable link, completely eliminating them!
MeCannibal 2.0 now holds the belt!

ARMOUR: 4mm Hardox (7mm in key areas) on front, side and rear panels, 3mm aluminium baseplate
WEAPONS: Hydraulic crushing arm (constructed of hardened steel and aluminium alloy) at front driven from a Vivoil pump at 3000psi, giving 9 tonnes of force at the ram and 4.5 tonnes of force at the tip. Also has Haardvark-style lifting forks at the very front run from an S28-150 Magmotor and a lead screw capable of lifting 200kgs, generally used to hold opponents in place for the crusher to do damage.
SRIMECH: Via the weapon, which has decorative spines to assist in self righting. Spikes at the rear prevent the robot getting stranded.
NOTES: Components and armour shock mounted for protection against large scary spinny things. Cutout eyes in side of robot serve as targeting lasers (they dont actually target, they just look really cool)

Nidhogg is a good machine which underperformed in my E.O.T.R Tourny, so I apologise for that. But I think I might have a tactic to win. It says that his armour is 7mm Hardox in the critical places. I know I wont get through that 7mm Hardox at all (nothing will) so Im going to go for the 4mm Hardox panels - I ripped up 5mm no problem.
But hes got shock-proofing, ruining my orignal plan of shock-killing him. So my plan is to try and spin him into a house robot, and hope they flip him. That way, whilst hes self-righting, I can destory the 3mm Aluminium base. If that doesnt work, just keep hitting him until he dies, or it goes to the judges.
As for what he can do, he has to let me spin up before he can use his lifters on me, but that claw worries me, so avoid like the plague.

Box rush. Get over there before MeCannibal can spin up, try and ram underneath it and kerrunch. Hopefully. If that doesnt work, try and come in when it is spinning and do the same. Once I have hold, do a Razer and put it straight into the pit. If the claw is taken out for any reason, use the forks and push it into the house robots or the flame pit - he has shuffle pads, so I may have the advantage in manuverability.
And Paul, the loss wasnt as bad as you saying it was from Wales :proud: Good luck anyway.
Blame my parents, I ask them where Pontefract was, and they said Wales.
But the thing you need to know about me is that Shuffling Pad doesnt give me bad control, just GREAT traction. And you wont get to me before Im spun up - as Ive stated in my stats, my robot is deadly in 1 second, and LETHAL in 3 seconds. And I have the greater acceleration, due to my traction and speed. And the other thing is that youre based on Razer. There was a battle between Tengu and Razer which Tengu won becuase Razer get under it due to the shape. Youre the very shape that Razer was, so...

Tonights battle for the challenge belt sees Joey McConnell return to the challenge belt competition with a different robot- Niddhog.Lets take a look at how Joey and Paul have done previously in this competition...
Joey was the first challenger, but with No Objections, which dealt with Tornado to take the belt and flipped Cyrilium to kingdom come, but was flipped out of the arena by no other than Nitro-Gene 4.0, Pauls previous entry into the Challenge Belt!After throwing No Objections OOTA Nitro-Gene defeated a new version of Cyrilium, though only on a nailbiting judges decision.However, it was then third time UNlucky as despite putting up a good fight early on Crimson Thunder took control and pitted Nitro-Gene. Almost immediately Paul took his revenge by returning with MeCannibal 2.0 and re-taking the belt, will he be able to keep the belt away from Niddhog?Were about to find out...
Representing the house robot team we have the robot guard dog Growler accompanied by the ever-brutal Matilda...
MeCannibal is a 110kg shufflebot with a deadly spinner-ring that proved itself by dismantling Crimson Thunder in its last bout.
Niddhog is a Razer-esque machine with a powerful looking 3000psi crusher that has the potential to deliver 9 tonnes of force- look out Paul!

Niddhog goes straight in on the attack, getting its forks under MeCannibal and lifting it up into the air! MeCannibal keeps spinning, but cant do anything as Niddhogs crusher comes down on it!The titanium armour crumples, but Niddhog doesnt get a grip and drops MeCannibal to the floor. MeCannibal comes round on the attack itself, the ring spinning wildly!
CRASH!
The 4mm Hardox side panel flies off Niddhog and MeCannibal spins up again, this time hitting the forks and getting lifted into the air once again!Niddhog comes down on top with the crusher and this time gets right into one of the shuffle pads, immobilising one side of MeCannibal! Niddhog doesnt let go and hits the pit release tyre, but MeCannibal falls off the crusher and manages to shuffle into Niddhogs rear end!
CRASH!
Another panel flies off into the distance and Niddhog isnt going anywhere fast, as MeCannibals weapon as gotten stuck into one of Niddhogs armour panels! Refbot comes in to split them up, and Niddhog gets under MeCannibal again, crushing into the bodywork once more, spearing one of the weapon motors!MeCannibal falls of the crusher and shuffles in a circle getting a shove at the side of Niddhog, heaving it into matildas CPZ!Matilda attacks with the flywheel, hitting Niddhogs rear and sending it cartwheeling across the arena! Niddhog self-rights and readies it self for another attack, but MeCannibal is too far away and the battle is in its dying moments.
CEASE!
At the end of that intense battle the judges decide that MeCannibal was moving on one pad only and could move in circles, so was basically immobile. Niddhog took heaps of damage but was still fully mobile at the end and therefore takes the challenge belt!
WAAAAHEY! Again :) Good fight Paul though, that thing does some damage.

€ SHAPE: Low invertible box with a front scoop (the scoop has a slight dip in it to help get under other robots better) and sloped sides.
€ MOTORS: 2 x LEM 130€™s at 36V = 18HP
€ LOCOMOTION: 4 Vulkanised Wheels.
€ DIMENSIONS: (L) 60CM (H) 20CM (W) 60CM
€ COLOUR: Unpainted, with the exception of the name on top written in black paint.
€ WEAPONRY: The weaponry consists of 3 x 9kg discs, made out of 1cm of Titanium with 3 Hardox bludgening teeth. The discs are set on the same axle, and amounted deep into the scoop, with the teeth just reaching towards the lip of the scoop, so the uppercut movement of the discs can attack base-panels and the like. The discs are powered by 2 x LEM130s at 36V. Set on a ratio of 1.5:1, it gives off 3600rpm. The discs, combined together make 27kg, so the force given out is 165kj per hit! Large amounts of Rubber amounted behind the scoop stops the risk of self-destruction.
€ SPEED: 18mph
€ GROUND CLEARANCE: 0MM-1CM. At the front, it is completely 0mm. On the sides/rear, its 1cm.

Avoid the scoop like the plague. I should be able to get around the sides if Tri-Tainium comes head on due to my shape and wheel layout, and then its a matter of getting the forks in - I dont need to tip him over, just lift the wheels off the ground so I can push him and get the crusher in. Do some damage, and then send it to meet Mr Pit. If that fails, flip it over so the scoop is useless, then do the crushing.

Well, Im going to flip him upside-down and attack the base panel. If I constantly attack, I might loosen a panel from the base upwards and rip it off.
Another thing I can do is to get it near the edge and perform an X-Terminator style OOTA - I have the power to do so...

Tri-Tainium comes straight towards Nidhogg, which drives forward to meet its worthy opponent.At the last moment Paul tries to swerve around and get a side-attack on Nidhogg, but Joey was expecting it and so does the same, getting its forks underneath and lifting Tri-Tanium off the ground!With Paul suspended helplessly in the air Joey activates his crusher and it goes straight through one of Pauls tyres!Still clamping on hard Joey pulls Tri-Tanium across the arena and presses the pit release tyre before edging towards the chasm itself!Closer...Closer...Nidhogg drops Tri-Tanium right on the edge, and Paul escapes!However Nidhogg is also quick to get away from the chasm, and is ready to take on Tri-Tainium again!They head towards each other, and this time neither attempts to swerve. Unfortunately for Joey Tri-Tanium gets underneath and gets its powerful weaponry into play! It throws Nidhogg onto its back, revealing a huge gash in the base! Before Nidhogg can self-right Tri-Tanium attacks again, ripping off some of the self-righting spines, but also righting Nidhogg in the process.Nidhogg quickly turns and gets its forks underneath Paul, lifting Tri-Tanium into the air again!And once more the crusher comes in, this time going through the discs!Holding hard Nidhogg goes back towards the pit, and this time is successful in dumping Tri-Tainium in!

Nidhogg holds onto the belt, and awaits its next challenger, Sithis!

I think its Nidhogg that held on to the belt :proud: Good fight Paul, though, and Nidhogg self rights at about the speed of Razer - not exactly slow, but slow compared to pneumatic self righter/flippers.

Exactly the same ones as I used for MeCannibal: Box rush. Get over there before Sithis can spin up, try and ram underneath it and kerrunch. Hopefully. Nidhogg v Sithis
This one is going to be REALLY close.If Nidhogg wins Joey keeps the belt, but Danny wants it and Sithis could be the robot to do it!
Overseeing the match from the CPZs will be Cassius Chrome and the old favourite, Sir Killalot.
Sithis is a cylinder shaped ring spinner that has the potential to send Nidhogg home in bin-bags, but can it avoid that powerful crusher and Joeys favourite tactic, the pit?

Nidhogg drives straight in on the attack, but Sithis runs away while it spins up. When it has spin up Nidhogg has decided on a different plan and has pressed the pit release before hiding behind the pit!This puts a big chasm between itself and Sithis, but its a very cowardly act and wont gain any points for aggression should this go to a judges decision.Sithis isnt bothered much and carefully side steps the pit.
CRASH!
It hits Nidhoggs fleeing backside and rips off the panel, sending Nidhogg flying into the arena wall!Before Sithis can attack the rear again Nidhogg spins around and lifts the cylinder with its forks!Maneouvering carefully towards the pit, Joey lowers the crusher into Sithis internal workings, piercing the top armour and damaging who-knows-what on the inside!Having speared the top armour Nidhogg lifts Sithis into the air and shows the delighted crowd before trying to dump Sithis into the pit.Problem is, how do you get it off the crusher?Joey has no idea and so drives away, instead toasting Sithis over the flame pit. Finally Sithis falls off the crusher, and Nidhogg backs away warily, ready to try its pit tactic again. But Sithis isnt going anywhere!
Refbot comes in to check it out.

In the pits Danny shows us that Nidhogg pierced one NIcad battlepack with its crusher and roasted the other two which were of course exposed by the hole made by Nidhogg.
And so Nidhogg is the first robot to make 3 successful defences, meaning Joey keeps this first challenge belt forever!

Well, Im back into it with Nitro-Gene, who wants the belt back! No complex plan here - just flip him onto his back, and let him self-right onto my wedge again, this so hell say stuck. Then push him to the nearest wall and go for the OOTA.

Nidhogg, is launched across the arena and lands on the flame pit, where Nitro-Gene is waiting!

Nidhogg is flipped up and over, and self-rights- back onto Nitro-Genes wedge!Nitro-Gene edges to the wall and lets rip again!
Nidhogg flies up into the air, sailing down in a graceful arc before landing in a very awkward position- Its wedge is inside the arena, but the claw is hanging out!Nitro-Gene cant really flip them from there, and so must let refbot right Nidhogg, which it does.Nidhogg then quickly reverses back into the center of the arena, meaning its back to square one for Paul!And this time when Nitro-Gene comes back on the attack Nidhogg is ready, lifting Paul with its forks and going in with the crusher!It pierces a tyre and lifts Nitro-Gene high into the air!Joey carries it across the arena to the pit release tyre!The siren wails and Nitro-Gene is being taken closer and closer to the chasm!Right on the edge and Nidhogg takes its forks down, lowers the crusher as far as it can go and holds Nitro-Gene over the pit, waiting for it to fall. Refbot comes in to check if both robots are still moving.

Of course, Nidhogg is still moving and reverses to try and loosen Nitro-Gene, which falls onto its wedge!Paul tries to escape, but Joey is too quick and lifts Nitro-Gene with its forks before pushing it into the pit!

€ SHAPE: A low wedge shape.
€ MOTORS: 2 x S28-400 MagMotors at 36V = 12HP
€ LOCOMOTION: 4 Vulkanised Wheels.
€ DIMENSIONS: (L) 70CM (H) 15CM (W) 70CM
€ COLOUR: Black for the flipper and barbs, white for the body.
€ WEAPONRY: A forward hindged flipper, running on a single 750psi ram running on CO2. The gas is contained in 2 x 2.5kg bottle, giving me 20 flips per fight, and the gearing on the ram 3:1 means we have 1300kg of flipping force! That should mean on a forward hindged flipper that I can flip almost everything OOTA.
€ SPEED: 13mph
€ GROUND CLEARANCE: The front is obviously 0mm. The wedges, which join up at the corners of the robot, make the ground clearance effectively zero, but underneath the wedges is 5mm of clearance. The wedges are held on by Titanium hindges
€ STRENGTH: Near impossible to get under.
€ WEAKNESS: Low speeds.
