By the way, Matty. In Steves Outsiders Cup contest, he NEEDS your entries and the same is with Kdoy in the C&B: Extreme.
Also, who are Shrederator, Brutality and Resonance? Ive heard of Shrederator, but never seen it, and Ive never heard of the other two

MegaByte can self-right? :S
Meh. Still, if it can, itll get flipped right back over. :P

Thats ok Will understand its easier, in that case if Paul is going after me ill go after him, Straight for Knochout straight under, with the hooks on top he wont go over and will sit nicely on the flipper while i drive him to the nearest wall and flip, CRAPBAG has the same if not similar power to gravity so if i get near a wall and flip hell fly over, as the horns are so far back even if he fires the axe he wont hit CRAPBAG

Either Shrederator or Megabyte would have been Splinters opponent in the World Championships if that event hadnt been cancelled.
Too bad, I would have enjoyed it.
Megabyte can selfright, but its not exactly gracefull. :)

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Welcome to the first battle of the Fowler Fic War series 5, and how long its been since Ive written a fight! :)
As a prenote I will warn you that I am only doing the FFW histories from series 3 onwards. I no longer have the histories further back than that, and its also as far as Ive used for the seedings :)
But without any further hassles, lets get under way :)
first in, and seeded number 1. Shovearound 2.
The reigning champion and a worthy one at that, Shovearound 2 is hoping to get his title defence off on the right track today. A low blue box with invertible lifting forks in the front, shovearound 2 hopes to use its previous tactic of running in, getting under and shoving around, with its high force motors and its very fast top speed. Its extremely well armoured too with 12mm Hardox protecting all the way around.
FFW History
FFW3 - In round 1, he best the dutch realie Pulverizer, running him around the arena with his superior force, before eventually driving him into the pit. Round 2 was an even easier fight up against Dantomkia, with one ram enough to get him under, and using the lifting forks to pin him in the air, he dragged him into the pit. 360 proved his toughest challenge in the heat, as the full body spinner was impossible to get near to, but in the end, the control of not getting hit himself, and aggression for trying proved enough, as he narrowly went through to the semi-finals. In the first round of the semis he came up against Beta, who gace him a right good hammering, but one good manouvre resulted in him beign able to pit the former PTT champion, and go through, albeit battered into the next round. The second round of the semis proved just too much for him though, as Manic Monsoon proved to be an even better rammer, and pitted him like hed done to so many, knocking him out in the last 8.
FFW 4 - Seeded 10, he conspired with Dave Sheppard in round 1 to get rid of FBSDS, before disposing of SPRING-BOK just as easily in round 2. As in FFW3, the heat final proved his toughest test, as another judges decision was needed to help him get past GeForce, the 2 embroiled in a flipping and pushing battle for the entire fight, Shovearound just about proving that he was superior though in the end. Round 4 saw him up against Wedge Devolution, where surprisingly he bossed last series 8th seeds for the length of the battle, before eventually pitting him, without Wedge gettign in a single flip. The quarter finals proved just as simple against the 4th seed Storm 2 who he pushed around the arena at will. It did require a judges decision though, however unanimously the judges put him through. He knocked out second seed Achilles in the semis, after despite struggling during th eopening exchanges, Achilles lifter broke down, and so after being turned ove rby Shovearound, Alexs machine was helpless. And in the grand final Tony pulled off an upset knocking out the 5th seeded Disc 5 outright, by managing to push the notoriously difficult machine into the pit.
FFW Points -
FFW 3 - 10/2 = 5
FFW 4 - 50
Total - 55 (Seeded 1)
Following him in is Tempest Evil-est-Oution.
Franks machine is one of the best full body spinners around, and god knows there are enough of them to be compared to. A 1.8cm titanium spinning body with long hardox teeth power by LEMs means that its one robot you do not want to be getting too close too. The weaponry and armourment is essentially all it has though, as there is no real drive, no high speeds, so if the spinner stops working... the robot is gonna be caught in a storm :proud:
FFW History
FFW3 - Did Not Enter
FFW4 - In round 1 teamed up with Cosmic Thunder 2 to remove Macduff the 2nd in pieces, but couldnt get past round 2 where in a huge upset, Atomic boxrushed him into submission, eventually throwing the static spinner over the arena wall
FFW Point -
FFW 3 - 0
FFW 4 - 2
Total - 2 (Unseeded)
And finally for this 3rd battle is AJs machine Axeon 2.0. This truncated pyramid machine, is, as the name suggests armed with an axe, but not just any old axe. An axe that can put dents in hardox with 4 2kg bottle of nitrogen behind it giving 30 hits from a Terrorhurtz style axe. The armour is 6mm hardox and drive, speed, traction and a low ground clearance makes talent in abundance for this machine. This could go all the way, or To infinity... Axeon! :proud:
FFW History
FFW3 - did Not Enter
FFW4 - In round 1 knocked out number 27 seeds Wild Thing, with the aid of eventual heat winner The Deer, but was knocked out at the second hurdle by an impressive looking NSBFR-X who rammed AJs machine into submission.

All 3 robots come haring staright out of their starting to positions to get the Fowler Fic War series 5 under way. Tempest is given no time at all to try and spin up as the reigning champ flies across the ring and gets the forks underneath him, choosing not to lift but instead slam him straight into the angle grinders on the arena side wall. Tempests 1.8mm titanium shell easily stands up the blow, and as Tony tries to slam again, Tempest rolls off the forks and is left with a chance to move away and spin up.
Axeon 2.0 has other ideas though, and comes in with a charge on the spinning Tempest. Unfortunately for AJ though, Frank is revved up more than first thought, and sparks fly as Axeon flies away with scratches down his left side panel. Shovearound 2 is not up for a spinning Tempest, and come sin for an attack on his own, forks first, but metal meets metal again, and the 2 outer forks on the near side are bent inwards, possibly hampering their effectiveness for the rest of the battle.
Axeon 2.0 has got exactly what he wanted though, as the impact has sent Tempest spinning into the arena wall. With no speed behind the shall AJ comes in for an attacks, sliding under and slamming down. The axe is made to look like a toothpick however, as the only thing it does to the thick titanium shell is make a horrible tinny noise leaving the audiences ears in pain.
The champ has no issues with taking over however, and comes in for another attack of his own, getting the forks underneath the immobile shell, proving that the hit on the forks was in no way endangering to the machine. Tempest slides off again though, and pegs it across the arena to get some speed behind the shell.
AJ is never one to give up and slides towards tempest, stopping just before, and repeatedly slams the axe on top, making that horrible metallic noise several times over. Axeon 2.0 does the dance made famous by Terrorhurtz, leaping around, and Tony uses that to his advantage, sliding the forks under the flapping skirts, and shoving him into the spinning ring of Tempest. He flies off the shell across the arena, and has not finished spinning before Tony comes across the arena and gets underneath him again.
AJ is looking panicked as his machine is no longer in his control, however it is Tempest, so far his foe, who this time comes to his rescue and slams into the side of Shovearound 2, doing no damage, but throwing him away. Tony does not look happy and comes staright back in fro another tussle with Axeon 2.0, but Tempest blocks him again. He hits Shovearound 2 fork first again, however both machines fly away from the point of impact and Tempest unwittingly hits Axeon 2.0, a small dent appearing in the side panel.
This slow Tempest down again and Tony uses it to his advantage, flying in for a full frontal. This time however the impact has done some damage to the forks, and although he pushes Tempest into the wall with ease he cannot slide underneath, allowing Tempest to move away with no real fear of being turned over. He runs away and immediately opens the pit release button, hoping to bounces someone in as he feels vulnerable should it be left in the lap of our judging Gods
Axeon 2.0 slides across to try and get Shovearound 2 from behind, but Tony turns his champion machine around, just as the axe comes down. The robot dance is once again in full swing, and Tony once again times his movement to perfection, slipping his battered forks underneath the raised front of Axeon 2.0. This time there is no messing, and Shovearound 2 takes him towards the newly open pit. AJ pleads with Tempest to do him a favour, but looking out for himself Frank holds him back, knowing that this is the quickest way to end the fight. Tony carries him to the edge, raises the forks gently, and watches as Axeon 2.0 topples into the pit, initiating a cloud of smoke that cascades around him.
CEASE
The champ is through, but it wasnt as easy as expected. Tempest follows him, but its Axeon whos left to ponder what could have been.

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Yep, thats one damn impressive battle. :proud:
Black Panther (17) v Orka v Seung Mina II
Revising my tactics. Since theyre both hard to get under, I will try to outmaneouver whoevers closest so I can get at their rear, get under, and flip. Orka seems to be the easier one to do that with so Im proposing a team-up with Alex.
If Alex accepts, Ill wait until the seed gets Orka in its grip and then get to Orkas rear and flip. Push it into the pit and flip again if it successfully rights itself.
If Alex doesnt, go for Orka anyway. Try to get at the sides and back away at every failed attempt. Only use the flipper when I really need to. AVOID THE SCOOP AT ALL COSTS! Also, avoid Black Panther Queen. :proud:

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Welcome to the 2nd battle of FFW4, and the second battle of Heat A!
Lets meet the robots.
First in, and seeded 17, Black Panther Queen.
Alex Holts machine has been there and done that in the vapourbot world, only missing out on its first title narrowly in series 1 of Mechanical Noise. After undergoing a lot of changes over the years, Alex is finally back with a robot who looks like it could do the business. An axe flipper combination mounted on a truncated pyrmaid, with skirts all round, hes hoping to use the axe to pin and the flipper to toss other machines out of the arena, however the armour is vulnerable to heavy attacks and the pushing power is weak.
FFW History
FFW 3 - Breezed through round 1, destroying RW1 finalists Robot the Bruce, leaving no doubt around the power of the axe. In round 2 he gave the same treatment to Bruces successor Chaos 2, repeating the result that has happened to Chaos on so many occasions, putting the axe straight through the gas bottle, so after being turned over, Chaos 2 was stuffed. In the heat final though, Beta awaited him, and the hammer proved too much to Alexs machine, knocking out the batteries, and leaving him on the first train home.
FFW 4 - (Seeded 17) With the aid of Super Speed Bumps Baby, he disposed of SUNCUST in round 1 with relative ease, before round 2 saw him narrowly defeating an impressive looking A Night At The Bar in round 2 on a controverisal judges decision. However if that result was in doubt, his heat final certainly wasnt, as the number 1 seeds Wedga Revo bossed the fight for its entirity, surviving th axe blow before eventually getting under him and ramming and flipping him over the fence.
FFW Points
FFW 3 - 3/2 = 1.5
FFW 4 - 3
Total - 4.5 (seeded 17)
Next in, Chris Masons Orka Mk 4
Essentially an updated clone of former UKRW semi-finalists Behemoth, just because hes a clone, doesnt mean hes any less dangerous. 7mm titanium all round makes this beast a lot tougher than its compatriot, and a Mantis like claw where the axe would be aids the front lifting scopp, capable of lifting and toppling 300kg. The manouvreability is suspect however, and it isnt the greatest pusher with Magmotors for drive. Nonetheless Orka will be hoping to have a whale of a time :proud:
FFW History
FFW 3 - In round 1 he defeated Terrorhurtz but not without taking a few blows to the armour. It was simple in the end though, as with the aid of the claw he picked the former finalist up, and lifted him out of the arena. Round 2 was where it was to end in FFW3 however, as he met Tonys Aquarius who bossed the entire fight, eventually taking it to a one-sided judges decision
FFW 4 - Couldnt get past the first hurdle in this series as 21st seed Killotine: Evo pummled him into submission with relative ease, with other opponent Malaria barely needing to get involved.
FFW Points
FFW 3 - 2/2 = 1
FFW 4 - 1
Total 2 (unseeded)
And finally for this fight, our first meeting with Kody this series, Seung Mina II
A low wedge with sloped sides, Kodys machine is the only pure flipper we have in this heat, armed all round in 6mm Hardox, only the best machines should be able to damage him, while the flipper itself is impressive as well. Capable of lifting a tonne at the tip, and tossing a robot its own size 5 feet in the air, there are sure to be more than just sparks flying, where this robot has its way. However no offensive weaponry, means damage is going to be hard to cause on its opponents.

Ativate!
Its Orka Mk 4 who is the most sheepish coming out of the blocks, as the other 2 go straight for one another, Seung Mina II and Black Panther Queens flippers meeting and grinding out against one another. Alex feels it is appropriate to bring his other weapon into play however, and the axe slams down, before bouncing straight back off the 6mm Hardox encasing Kodys machine.
Orka Mk 4 finally looks like he wants to come out to play, and lethargically swans towards the 2 machines, going for the side of Seung Mina II. The scoop slides under, and moving faster than the rest of the robot, fires, rolling the Team Zlayerz machine onto its back. No sooner has he landed on his back however, Kody fires his flipper. Its so powerful however, that he does a perfect 360, landing on his back again. He tries again. another 360. On the 3rd attempt, he lands right way up again, and rolls away ready to make another attack.
Black Panther Queen decides that fair is fair and goes after Orka Mk 4 this time, the flipper getting underneath the 2mm ground clearance at the side and launching, rolling Orka onto his back. The dorsal fin on top allows him to self-right, but Alex is there with his machine once again and repeats the manouvre. This time Chris is quicker though, and after getting back onto his wheels, escapes a repeat onslught, rolling off towards Seung Mina II. Kodys also ready for him though and darts into the side of Orka. His far more powerful flipper shows, throwing Orka 3 feet or so into the air, before he hits the ground, and rolls back onto his wheels.
Chris knows he needs to do something and runs over to the pit release button, activating the pit and the siren to inform the crowds. Black Panther Queen isnt about to let hazards get in his way of proving his seeding is deserved though and runs to the opposite side of the arena waiting to be followed.
Neither machine does however, choosing instead to go after one another, locking horns, and meeting each other at the front though. the 2 flippers grinding against both each other and the arena floor. Seung Mina II is the first to make his move and fires the flipper, but this only works in the favour of Orka, who moves forward, getting underneath the body as its raised by the flipper. He turns, towards the pit with Seung Mina II on the edge, and tries to roll him into the pit, it fails though, and Seung Mina II just lies on his back facing away from the pit, helping him to self-right.
There are no dramas this time, as he manages it first time, and after getting back onto his wheels he charges towards the other side of the arena where Black Panther Queen has been biding her time. However Orka Mk 4 chases after him. Not expecting Kody to be ready for him, he flies full pelt at him, only for Kody to turn his machine around. He sits and waits as Orka Mk 4 cant stop, the momentum taking the scoop onto the flipper, and he begins moving up. Kody sees this as his chance, and he turns to face the wall at the far end of the arena, skating towards it and firing the flipper. He doesnt get much leverage and Orka Mk 4 does nothing but fall on its side by the wall.
Black Panther Queen however decides that it has spent enough time out of the action, and moves towards the static Orka Mk 4, just as Seung Mina II does the same. Both machines slide under Chriss machine, his driver frantically trying to self-right, but he doesnt manage it soon enough, as both machines fire their flippers, and Orka Mk 4 is sent flying into the plexiglass, before falling back down outside of the arena.
CEASE
Orkas made to look like a right dork-a :proud: The Queen is still in power and Seung Mina II is showing its Calibre :proud:

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Good to see some FFW fights again! I think Shovearound 2 should get through its next match well, but I dont have a clue who it would meet in the heat final. Ill go for an all seeded Shovearound vs BPQ where I expect the champ to head to the semis.
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Awesome fights Matt! Im sorry about what I said yesterday. I didnt know about what was going on.
Shovearound 2 (1) v Seung Mina II -Two gig robots with good reps, but Ican see Tony truimphing over Kody via JD/Pitting.
Black Panther Queen (17) v Tempest Evil-Est-Oution - This could go either way, BPQ could be ripped apart, or win. Ill go for him to win - it should survive the blows from Tempest qutie nicely (it put up a good fight against the much more powerful Psyclonised, until it was killed :proud:) and then Alex will stick the axe down and and pit the Tempest!
Heat Final: Shovearound 2 (1) vs. Black Panther Queen (17)
By the way, Alex Holt, if youre reading this, I need to know if you wish to help me team-up on CRAPBAG in heat B.
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Now THATS a more impressive battle. :proud: Go Mina! First fight and first victory for her! Woot!
Shovearound 2 (1) v Seung Mina II
And thats about as far as Im going to get. :proud: I dont think any champ of a major tournament has ever fallen in the second round.
I have absolutely no idea how to get under those skirts or forks, so Im just going to keep ramming Shovearound 2 until I finally manage to get under it, and FLIP IT! After its flipped, DONT flip it back over, but push it towards the pit and try to stop it self-righting: specifically get to Shovearounds rear when he self-rights, so hell land right on the flipper and get tossed again. DONT try for OOTAs, as last round it didnt work out so well for only Mina, and she only got Orka out because Black Panther Queen helped. :lame:
Recap: At the start of the match open the pit, then ram Shovearound until I get under him, and TOSS; once Shovearound is flipped, get him in that hole ASAP.

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Ah a Frank battle.... great fun...
Tempest had quite long teeth, so essentially my tactic here is goign to be to keep the dratted thing in the air, and try and pin it against a wall and bludgeon it. Tempest possesses the potential to tear me apart, so I need to prevent him gettign up to a point where it can do that.
As for the team up in the next heat, may as well, no point making thigns mroe difficult for myself.

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Kody, Shovearound 2 has a little secret - the skirts and lifter work inverted or right way up. Flipping it is going to do nothing!
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
*checks stats and picture*
According to the stats, uh, no, they dont, unless Tony would like to clarify.
Dont try to screw up my tactics. :P
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Okay, I contacted Tony on MSN, and he told me that they DO work inverted (skirts are hinged in the middle), even though the picture says otherwise. Thank you Tony for making that clear. And Paul, I dont know how you managed to figure out that the lifter and skirts work inverted, but nicely done. I take back what I said.
Slight revision nonetheless. Try to get under Shovearound and when I get under it, take it for a ride to a corner and flip it, and at the least it should stack him up against the arena wall. Try and get him out of the arena from there before he gets off the wall. Gotta make sure when he falls off the wall he lands right back onto the flipper and gets sent out.
Tony, maybe you could update Shovearound 2s stats a little so that I dont get confused. :P
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Ah an Alex battle... Great fun.
The twin Lem motors should mean Tempest can get up to a dangerous speed very quickly, so basically all Ill need to do is stick and move, and try to tear the flipper plate off seeing thats his intended weapon.

Tony stated his tactics clearly as avoid Tengu so he should have no issues with carrying that out in this fight. Kody immediately tries to carry out his tactics though, and starts trying to manouvre around the sides though. Shovearound 2 just keeps running away though, his superior speed carrying him away from his FEMALE opponent :proud:
Kody tries to launch another attack, but Tony is quicker this time and turns the front round to meet him, and the newly repaired forks go straight underneath him with no difficulty. Tony begins to grind his wheels in and then goes into full shunt mode and slams him into the arena well, raising the forks, and trying to stack Seung Mina II against the wall. The flipper comes to Kodys rescue however and as he fires it he falls back onto his wheels but onto the top of Shovearound 2.
Tony tries to give Seung Mina II a piggyback towards the pit release button, but Kody falls off, and then shoves Shovearound 2 from the side with his back end, stopping him opening the pit. Tony is annoyed by this manouvre and turns to face Seung Mina II sliding the forks underneath the front once again and manouvres him this time into the CPZ. Dead Metal is waiting for him and the saw comes down, releasing sparks as it makes contact with the 6mm Hardox. Sandwiched between the house robot and Shovearound 2, Kody has no way of helping his robot escape, but eventually shovearound 2 takes mercy on him, and slides away, allowing Seung Mina II to reverse out of the CPZ, albeit straight back onto the forks.
This time however he gets his way and manouvres Seung Mina II across to the other side of the arena and into the pit release button. The siren sounds, and the pit is slowly released, sinking into its state as a hole in the floor. Shovearound 2 lifts the forks, and leaves Seung Mina II hanging on the edge. He lowers them once more, and Seung Mina II begins teetering on the edge. One nudge more and Seung Mina II goes down, but not without overbalancing the champ and pulling him down with him. But its too late.
CEASE
The champs run is not over yet but there is nothing but a soul left of Seung Mina II. They go out.

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Welcome to our second round 2 battle from Heat A, where potential is in great supply from this battle between Tempest Evil-Est-Oution and Black Panther Queen
3...
2...
1...
Activate!
Its Black Panther Queen who comes out of the blocks, and with his speed, double that of Tempests, carries him straight into the FFW1 champions descendant who now finds himself without a seeding. Franks machine is just about spun up enough to knock Alex away though. He tries to move away and spin up again, but Black Panther Queen is closer to him this time and gets the flipper plate underneath him, firing the flipper followed by the axe. The axe does absolutely nothing to the thick titanium shell but the flipper sends the invertible ring spinner onto his back with great ease. No sooner has he stopped wobbling around the arena though, than Alex gets another attack in, firing the flipper without the axe this time and throwing Tempest across the arena.
The axe had provided Alex with a modicum of control before, but this time Frank has been thrown far enough away from his opponent that he can move away and spin up. Alex charges towards him but Tempest shifts sideways, with Alex having to slow down quickly to avoid hitting the fence. He turns again, knowing that hell have to bite the bullet, and goes straight into the spinning shell with the front flipper. Titanium may be strong but its not that strong, and the hardox teeth on Tempest bend one of the arms, pulling the flipper immediately out of place. The attack barely slows the shell down and Frank comes straight back in for more, this time hitting the same arm, and snapping it.
Alex fires the flipper to prove it still works, but has an added bonus as it just about flicks Tempest into the air, where his teeth hit the floor slowing the shell down. Alex comes in for another attack, sliding the battered flipper underneath and bring down the axe again. No sign of weakness from that, and although it doesnt do anything more than a small dent, he manages to grab onto Tempest, promptly dragging him towards the CPZ where Matila is waiting.
With her rear at the ready Matilda, gives Tempest the moony of all moonies, slamming into the side of Tempest, who shows the strength of his armour by escaping with nothing more than a scratch. It also throw him off the flipper of the Panther whos axe has also been forced back into its resting position. He tries to turn away and stop Tempest spinning up but Franks already there, and slams into the side of Black Panther Queen, sending him spinning away, a large gash in his side panel. The impact throws him back into Matildas CPZ and the vertical disc has its turn, slamming into the opposite side completely tearing off one of the side skirts.
Looking severely battered and sheepish, Black Panther Queen sluggishly makes her way towards Tempest again, but Franks spun his robot up once more, and the full speed shell hits the other arm, bending it outwards. Gas immediately starts to erupt from the machine, as the flipper fires at the force of the ipact before returnign to its resting position. Trying to hit Tempest before it spins up again he comes in with the rear, but tempest moves slightly and slams into the back left corner, tearing a huge gash into the side.
This seems to be the impact that Alex feels the force of, and it may have done some damage to one of the drive motors as he seems unable now to go in a straight line. Turning around, he finds Tempest waiting there again, who slams into the front flipper again, snapping th eother arm, and leaving the flipper blade lying on the floor of the arena. Black Panther Queen is a mess, but may just about be able to hold on for a judges decision.
Tempest has other ideas though and slams into the back panel, once, twice, three times, each time backign away to get some of the extra speed back. Smoke is pouring out of the back of Black Panther Queen, and on the fourth Attack the back skirt along with the panel behind it is torn apart, leaving the removeable link very visible. Alex realises that enough is enough and gives up the controls. One final attack from Tempest and its all over as the faisafe is removed and with it the power to black Panther Queen.
The house robots, Matilda and Shutn come out to have their fun as Refbot counts her out, but seeing how wrecked the machien is already they decide to play nice, Matilda putting her on the arena flipper while Shunt opens the pit. Black Panther Queen flies across the arena, landing in a smoking heap in the middle of the floor, before Shunt pushes her into another smoking heap in the middle of the floor, ending the battle.
CEASE
Black Panther Queen might just have to abdicate :proud: Tempest Evil-Est-Oution storms through :proud:

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Heat Final: Shovearound 2 (1) vs. Tempest Evil-Est-Oution
Frank was lucky to win against the Panther (In my view), but this is where he WILL lose. The armour of Shovearound 2 is 12mm Hardox. 4mm Hardox is all it takes to stop Tempest damaging you - Shovearound isnt even going to get scratched! And then onto power. Shovearound 2 is a rambot (obviously :proud:) and has HUGE amounts of traction. Tempest is designed to have LOW traction to bounce away from trouble. On hp supplies (it doesnt contribute) Tonys robot has 36hp and Tempest has around 2hp (whos got more :proud:).
Frank might say Ill go for the lifting rack - its only aluminium, but one thing that Shovearound can do, as well as having invertible skirts and lifter, is it can use the rear skirt as a wedge. A wedge made of 12mm Hardox, that Tempest cant hurt.
In short - Shovearound is winning through, and there is nothing Frank can do about it

Paul, the mistake youre making is in comparing us solely in Shovearounds favour. Tempests HP is pretty much irrelevent because even if it could technically outpush you, it hasnt got a good shape for it. The best it could is is gradually nudge an immobile robot around.
And besides, you dont need to damage armour to kill a robot from the inside out, which is going to be my goal. Spin up to max power before I even try to go in, try and damage the lifting rack and tear those skirts off too.
But Frank, theyre 12 MM hardox! You cant damage those:proud:
True. But hardox skirts are only as strong as what holds them in place, and it wont take that much force to break the hinges. Given the dificulty of bending hardox, its extremely ineffective for making more complex parts which is why Id expect the hinges to be steel or Ali, possibly Ti, none of which are going to stand up to Tempest for very long.
Even failing to kill Shovearound from the inside out, I reckon Ill be good on a judges decision if I can just inflict some visible damage. Remember, you cant push what you cant catch, and being hard to catch was always Tempests speciality.

Bah. :proud: Good fight, though.
All I can say is...go Tempest! :proud:

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Ive just checked Shovearound 2s stats again Frank, and it says that there is a large shock-absorbing pad wrapped around the internals.
It doesnt talk about WHAT holds the skirts in place, only what theyre made of. But the reason WHY Im being in favour of Shovearound is because hes the number 1 seed, and stands a good chance of winning the heat.
Its nothing against you, or your machines. Its just what I believe will happen.
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
It doesnt need to say what the hinges are made of. It takes around 20 tonnes to bend hardox, and its not going to happen when making something fiddly like a hinge. Thats all I need to know to know Ill be able to break them.

Good luck for the heat final then Frank

And were off to find the first member of our last 16. Shovearound 2 makes the far quicker start and Tempest barely has time to blink before Shovearound 2 is on his case, let alone spin up the shell. He immediately finds himself slammed into the wall and picked up on the forks, tony evidently wanting to get this fight over and done with as soon as possible.
The shape of Tempest makes it hard for the forks to latch onto however, and Tony finds himself with a runaway Tempest, who is moving acorss the arena as fast as his 12mph will take him... which is round about 12mph :proud: He gets the shell partially spun up when Tony catches up with him and slam goes the forks into the bottom ring, not doing any damamge, but sending sparks showering and Shovearound spinning sideways. Frank runs away again towards the CPZ of Growler. Shovearound 2 chases him but once again impacts with a spinning shell, this time the impact sends him straight into Growlers CPZ. Clever manouvre from Frank.
Growler 2 immediately chomps Shovearound 2 up in his claws and Tony is looking extremely frustrated. The jaws arent damaging him but every second spent in Growlers gob is a second where he could be trying to end a fight against extrememly dangerous opposition. Eventually Growler if forced to let go and tony is out like a shot, but he finds Tempest waiting for him who goes straight for the forks. Theres a loud noise and a lot of sparks, and for the second time in this heat, Tempest has seriously buckled the main weapon on Shovearound 2.
Tony curses his luck and comes in again, but Tempest has wasted no time in getting up to speed and charges at him, forks facing forwards, possibly suggesting that he believes they are sacrifical. he comes in again, and this time doesnt get thrown backwards, as he digs in in forward gear, another impact later and the shell is stopped, but his main weapon is resembling a rather mangled beard trimmer as it stands. He doesnt seem to bothered though and turns round to show his back end to Tempest, slamming him into the wall with his rear wedge, and doing a better job of beaching Tempest on his side than he did before with his forks.
Tempest shows no signs that hes bothered by this thiough, as the second shovearound 2 backs off he falls back to the floor. Again, and again shovearound 2 slams him into the fence, not letting him go, sparks flying on each occasion as the titanium shell meets the angle grinders. If it wasnt for the shock proofing inside both machines it would seem a certainty that one or both robots would be limping their way back to the garage by now.
Both robots look in pretty good nick though, though Shovearound 2s weapon is in pieces. He backs off for another big charge at Tempest, but Tempest charges back, shell spinning slowly. As he meets the wedge he flies off it, toppling over and going like some demented spinning top around the arena. Tony sees this as his chance and charges after him, sliding the buckled forks underneath him. He tries to raise them but the actuator appears to be jammed.
This isnt a huge disaster though as Franks not going anywhere, he tries to spin the hsell up, but the angle hes at means the teeth are just hitting the floor. He keeps trying though and in the end it pays off, as they haul him off the forks, albeit now inverted, marking the end of a good attack from Tony. Tony decides he has to bite the bullet and goes for the pit release button but is followed by a spinning Tempest who slams into the side panel buckling the hinges.
Tony is not about to let that put him off though and uses his back end once more to slam into Tempest, using his opponent to push the pit release button instead, which is ripped off by the blades of Tempest, and rolls into th epit its just opened. Tony pins tempest against the wall, prveneting him from spinning up, and slowly but surely tries to edge away and push him towards the hole. spinning round he manages to catch Tempest with the edge of his back wedge but Frank isnt falling for it. He moves away but Tonys suprior speed comes to the rescue as he comes round the side and nudges him with the forks just as he passes the pit. The impact sends Tempest away and spinning full speed, he teeters on the edge of the pit, unable to move. Tony comes at him for one last time and nudges him in, smoke rises and cease is called like this...
CEASE
Tempest turned into just a comedy of errors. Shovearound 2 stood strong and the champ makes it into the last 16.

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Going to revise my predictions/tactics every heat now. :proud:
Achilles (3) v Knock-out v CRAPBAG
Knock-out to be flipped OOTA, just like Orka was by BPQ and Mina.
GeForce (19) v MegaByte v Liar
MegaByte out. Hell be flipped immediately, and no matter how many times he tries to self-right, GeForce and Liar will bully him too much...yeah, Im predicting that Andy and Martijn will team-up. :proud:
Awesome first heat Matty! Simply CANNOT wait for the rest! :)
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
I posted my tactics earlier, it involves an early end ofr knock out, avoiding Achilles but if needs must i dont mind teaching some fly lessons to the 3rd seed, more likely at this stage to receive a lesson or two but youve got to be confedient havent you
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Me and Alex have agreed to gang-up on CRAPBAG for those who dont know. So my tactic for this fight is that I launch attacks on CRAPGAGs rear, pin it against the wall and beat it with the axe.
If Achilles flips CRAPGAG over, block him self-righting and smash the base-panel apart and then lay into the internals.
Awesome heat final Matty! I hope this next heat will be just as good!

GeForce (19) v MegaByte v Liar
Andy, fancy a teamup to flip that MegaByte to hell and back?:proud:

I bet Frank by saying avoid Forcepower
XD
I think I better cut that out. Lordy knows Im not getting away with it much longer.

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
GeForce (19) v MegaByte v Liar
Yep I think its time to team up with Martijn and throw MegaByte all over the place. For the other match I expect Knock-Out to be... knocked out. Great to see FFW back again!

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Welcome to the first round of Heat 2 of the Fowler Fic War Series 5.
Firstly a word of thanks for all the kind comments left both on the forum and on MSN, its nice to know that my writing is appreciated, and thus it shall continue :)
But without further a do lets meet the machines for our first fight.
First in, seeded number 3, Achilles.
Alex holts machine was the champion of FFW 2 and has never been far away from success since. The renowned vapourbot has won other majors including PTT5 and NSBFL6. He main weapon is a lifter which can be changed from pneumatic to hydraulic to maintain control over an opponent, while an additional grappling hook adds to this. the motors give good pushing power however no damaging weapons as well as comparatively thin side armour means Achilles could have exploited his own heel
FFW History
In FFW3 - (seeded 1) Achilles started off his defence of the title in grand fashion, defeating Hexadecimator and Heart of Fire, both in under a minute in rounds 1 and 2 respectively. The heat final proved a more tricky affair as he came across Andy Jacksons GeForce, however the persistent slams from Achilles ended up being enough to dump him out of the context on a judges decision. The semis went just as swimmingly for Alex, defeating Typhoon 2 in a one-hit KO, before defeating Squishiest, despite taking a couple of vicious slices from the crusher. The grand final went horribly wrong for him though, losing both his battles, first to Whirligig 4.0 and then to Manic Monsoon, leaving him in a still very respectable 4th place
In FFW4 - (seeded 2) Achilles once again breezed through rounds 1 and 2 of his heats, first of all knocking out Jack Kennedy with the help on Van Tango, before throwing Axe-O-Lotl out of the arena in round 2. The heat final once again proved his toughest fight of the heats, where he narrowly defeated Metal Sonic Spin Dash in the closing stages of the fight via pitting, though his skirts did take a battering along the way. Round 4 he caused an upset defeating many peoples favourite to go on and win the title Forcepower, before a far easier fight in the quarters saw him disposing of Wedginator out of the arena. In the grand final he lost to the outsider and eventual chamption Shovearound 2, before going on ebetter than the series before, grabbing 3rd place by pitting the number 25 seed Flick of the Wrist.
FFW Points -
FFW3 - 16/2 = 8
FFW4 - 24
Total - 32 (seeded 3)
Next in is Craig Danbys first attempt at a vapourbot, CRAPBAG. well armoured in 4mm Hardox this multi-angular wedge is armed with a pneumatic flipper with a similar set up to 8645t, capable of throwing robots out of the arena. the motors and speed give a good potential for ramming opponents around, but this is Craigs first attempt at a vapourbot and he could be left rueing a lack of experience.

Finally before I introduce Pauls entry a note of warning for the rest of the contest. There are a number of robots in this tournament that I BELIEVE to be overweight. Not being a builder myself I have no way of knowing for sure, therefore I will not be removing these robots from the tournament. However I will be heavily biased against them when it comes to my writing. Im sorry to make an example of you Paul you are not the only person I aiim this at, however, this is the first machine in the tournament that I believe falls in this category, I will not be giving warnings in future. Thank you.
And onto to the robot himself, Knock-Out. Armoured in 7mm Hardox and 8mm Aluminium Boron Carbide, with 450 weight-reducing holes drilled in, Knock-Out has a 15kg Terrorhurtz style axe made of Hardox. The drive comes from 2 Eteks at 48V and all in all this would be a dangerous robot... in the super heavyweight category.

Its CRAPBAG that comes out of his blocks first, aiming straight away for Knock-Out. Achilles goes after CRAPBAG however, lunging underneath him and toppling him over with the arm, which today is in pneumatic flipper mode. Knock-out tries to bring the axe down on the base panel of CRAPBAG, but Craig is too quick and self-rights leaving Paul to slam at the floor, where his axe gets caught. Unable to lift it up, Craig sees this as an opportunity to make an impact on his fellow newbie machine, firing the flipper, and turning him over, getting the axe unstuck from the arena floor in the process.
Paul starts flailing with the axe to try and self-right and eventually manages it, masses of CO2 streaming out with each blow. Achilles and Knock-out both go for CRAPBAG, but Craig sees it coming and veers towards Achilles, sliding underneath the front lifter, and tossing him over onto his back with great ease, Achilles self-rights immediately, but CRAPBAG is looking extremely impressive and is already back onto Knock-out attacking from the front. The axe comes down, dentign the 4mm Hardox, but hes thrown over almost immediately and once again has to flail around in order to self-right.
While Knock-out is flailing around Achilles and CRAPBAG are locked in some deadly robotic waltz, circlign one another, until eventually Achilles gets fully side on and slides underneath, shunting him with full speed into the wall and nearly throwing him out of it in the process under the force of the slam. Achilles felt the force of that slam as well and the corner of the front spatula seems slightly bent compared with before. CRAPBAG on the other hand looks concussed and waits a miment to regain control before charging over towards Knock-out who has just recovered from self-righting. Hes not expecting a side on attack from CRAPBAG however, who charges across the arena, slides underneath and heads straight for the fence. One flip from the middle of nowhere and its all over,as Knock-Out goes soaring over the fence and into the other side.
CEASE
Knock-Out waddled around like he was knocked-up. CRAPBAG was nowhere near one, and the 3rd seeds have a chance to heel :proud:
Lets get straight on with the second battle :)
First in, and seeded number 19 is GeForce. Originally one of Aarons machines, GeForce was bought by AJ in the era of vapourbot Ebay and the premise is still the same, a sloped sided low wedge with an extraordinarily powerful pneumatic flipper the robot has a choice of 2 sets of wheels for different surfaces (the wood floor ones will be used here) as well as LEMs giving great pushing power. The armour is 3.25mm Hardox, and all in all, this seems like a good little contender.
FFW History
FFW3 - Started off in good fashion, knocking out the number 17 seeds Gravity via a straight KO. Round 2 proved nearly as easy, with Chameleon proving no issue for AJs machine with Steves robot going out via the perspex around the arena. The heat final proved too much though, as this heats other seed Achilles shoved him aroun dfor fun and he was disposed of via a judges decision. Could there be a rematch later in the heat?
FFW4 - (seeded 26) FFW4 followed an almost identical pattern for GeForce, first of all disposing of Chaos 2 in round 1, almost exactly as he had disposed of Gravity in round 1 the series before. Round 2 saw him disposing of Daves robot with a name I cant spell, out of the arena exactly as he had done to Chameeon. and then a tight fight in the heat final saw him narrowly missing out, however this time the fefeat was to eventual champions Shovearound 2. No shame there.
FFW Points
FFW3 - 3/2 = 1.5
FF4 - 3
Total - 4.5 (seeded 19)
Next in is the first machine from Aarons squad MegaByte, one of the most feared real robots from America. A truly devesating full body spinner, MegaByte is capable of destoryign anything. It also has the rare ability for a full body spinner to self-right, though it doesnt always work as it relies on throwing itself into the air by spinning the shell against the floor. It doesnt move very fast, and is vulnerable if not spinning. Could MegaByet have been off more than it can chew?

And finally in is Martijns first entry into the tournament, Liar!
One of the most bizarre shaped robots weve ever had, Liar is like Wheely Big Cheese, without the invertibility, with a thinner front nose and 2 little sticky out bits on the side... technical or what? :proud: There is a reason though. as well as the powerful front flipper, he also uses the 2 side wedges in what he calls Stinger mode which allows him to get robots attack the back onto the flipper and flip them over. The pushing power is minimal however, and the armour might not stand up to more dangerous machines

Liar and GeForce come straight out and go after MegaByte, but by the time they get to him hes already partially spun up, and makes the first impact on GeForce who spins across the arena in a shower of sparks, the attack allows Liar to go after the slowed down full body spinner however and he slides underneath him with the flipper and throw him over. aaron spins MegaBytes shell and the US realie flails in an extremely non-graceful fashion back onto his wheeks before movign away to try and spin up again.
GeForce has recovered in this space of time and chases after him, but another slam and the side Hardox is dented, showing the force of the hits from MegaByte. Once again Maritjn is there with Liar to try and dispose of him however and he slides the flipper underneath and shunts him to the side wall, tryign to flip him out of the arena. The flip doesnt pay off though and MegaByte just goes sideways allowing him to run away and spin up once more.
Its Liar that goes after him this time, but he decides to play a game of chicken with MegaByte goign into flail mode and seeign wholl make the first move. Aaron bites the bullet and goes in and the resulting impact sends both robots spinning across the arena in a shower of metal as Liar finds the edge of one of his side wedges totally obliterated.
The impact has sent MegaByte flying into the arena wall though and once again hes stopped spinning. GeForce decides this is a chance to prove hes worth his seeding and comes in with the flipper. He fires the flipper after gettign close, and catches one of the blades thats starting to get up to speed. He manages to throw the US bot over, but gets sent away in a spin at the same time, MegaByte proving how powerful that shell is.
This time he seems to find it far harder to get back on his wheels and Liar appears by his side in flail mode waiting for him to fall onto his wheels. He duly does, and the non-damaged wedge slides underneath and gets him back onto the flipper throwing him once more. Aaron knows he has to do somethign to sort his situation out, but AJ isnt about to let him get the chance as he manouvres GeForce into a position aroudn the flailing MegaByte and fires the flipper at the optimum moment. The flip sends him slamming on his back against the arena wall. He moves over again and repeats the manouvre. this time its enough as MegaByte goes out the arena.
CEASE
The second of 2 surprisingly short first round fights. MegaByte has bitten the dust while Liar is showing his true potential. GeForce is more Gee whizz :proud:
And so to round 2, the battles...
Achilles (3) v Liar
GeForce (19) v CRAPBAG
