Great event, thanks to everyone for helping me out, once again and thanks to Geoff for the money!
Ill be taking a break from featherweights for the summer while I completely rebuild Someones in the kitchen with Dynamite, with aluminium gearboxes and probably wheels with treads, so see you in my home town of Reading in October, if not before.
Simon
Thanks to Geoff and the Roaming Robots guys for a very good event.
Congratulations to Pressure for their win, worthy successors!
Rob No body told me there was a big hole in the floor Grimm
Great weekend. Really enjoyed it. A big thanks to everyone who helped us out in testing Hydra (If I do find any more of wierd Alices tools Ill put them to one side for you).
Doesnt batterbot make a lovely noise when you hit it with the axe?? (Blunted the axe though). Need to do a load of safety related mods before our next event which will be Guilford. (He says thinking about going into the garage and running the axe over the grinder!!)
Andy
Great event, came home safely last night.
Congratulations to Team Windpower for another double victory.
I am very pleased to report that the chicken lives!! He took his first steps again today after getting a broken leg from his first flight.
(anyone who doesnt know what Im on about ask Mr Stu about what he did with a chicken and the arena flipper:lol:)

Posted on behalf of Geoff Thorpe and the Robot Rumble team....
I just want to say a huge thank you to all of the roboteers who helped make this a great show, with well over 1000 tickets sold over the weekend. Regardless of how much work we put in to organising the event at our end, If it wasnt for you guys (and girls) we would have no show!
I would also like to thank Roaming Robots for their professional organisation and management of the show, the FRA for making sure that we had a safe event and last but not least to Rapid Electronics for their generious prizes and other sposorship. (please visit their site http://www.rapidonline.comwww.rapidonline.com )
We are already planning Robot rumble 2009, so watch this space.
Once again, thank you all.
Geoff Thorpe.
Robot Rumble.
Also I forgot to ask earlier, does anyone have the videos of all of the featherweight fights (especially the last one which Aftershock won)
Thanks
Will
Im working on the pictures. Shot some 1064 of them... Theyll be posted soon on the Dutch pictures site, will give the url later on. Sorry for the bad quality of some of them but the lighting was not strong enough this time and so the shutter speed had to take too long. (Well yeah, I do prefer a well-lighted arena... :proud: I also prefer non-scratched polycarb and finding the one and only less-scratched-than-elsewhere position took me to the far side of the arena - away from all the folks and the fun. Say... Wasnt that the designated roboteer viewing area by the way ? Why was I all alone and lonely there, except when a 21-way melee was taking place and space with a good view suddenly became a premium ?)
It was a great event, with lots of nice people I havent seen in too long a time, and some truly spectacular fights. Well done to the winners, but Id say also well done to all the others. Many thanks to the organisers, for a great venue and a good old-fashioned roboteering fun weekend.

LOL -
Rob No body told me there was a big hole in the floor Grimm
I would have thought the loud siren and the blinding Strobe lighting would give it away? Oh well..... I think im going to install Electric shock wrist bands.. so when the pit is activate, you all get a shock.... Hehe!!
Was a good fun event - and the Snow Ball Fights on the Sunday were a load of fun. Im on a thin line with Jonno for getting him 3 times with snow balls. - oh well. LOL. The chicken - well - It had to be done.... Haha.
Pictures and movie clips will be online on Wends at 10pm.
See you all soon.

some great battles well done to the winners, and just to let everyone know that block of wood made it to the fw final and because 2 other fws broke down before us i believe it came 6th out of about 28 robots
alex
Great Event, shame it took me until 2 this afternoon to get home...
Will
We have nearly all the FW fights on film especially Chicken Run 2.I will start putting them up on YT tomorrow. Thanks again for loan of crystal.
Cheers
Steve & Pam
Hi guys, thanks to all for a great event.
A home win was a nice birthday present for Skink (Colcester 2006 was its first event), Adam was so pleased he won an Easter egg!!!
To be honest Pressure was lucky, a good first round draw (though TAN is a slippery devil).
A tough semi with Ripper and IA5, not having to fight the favorite was a real bonus (the pit was open for about 10 seconds before you backed into it, weve all done it!).
A 2 to 1 judges decision against Bigger Brother in the final who was loosing power and gas at the end! Sorry Ian, I have no doubt you will give me a good kicking at Burgess Hill!
Thanks again to Geoff, RR et al, MIke.
PS we have video of most fights.
Speaking of Loaned Crystals (Andrew), Someone borrowed a set of mine because they clashed, but I cant remember who, anyone wanna step forward ?
My pictures can be found at http://www.bugs.nl/media/album/index.php?path=L3J3L2NvbGNoZXN0ZXIyMDA4L2JlLWJhYnM vhttp://www.bugs.nl/media/album/index...MDA4L2JlLWJhYn Mv
Have fun viewing them... My favourite is the TAN-Mighty Mouse full-body-slam ! (page 9)
And, as always, you can email or pm me for bigger versions of your favourite picture(s).

If you remember when we checked trough your crystals they were nearly all the same as we had so were clashing, luckily Will had one that was free.
Steve

It was a real shame to see the burnt out wreck that was left of mighty mouse after this event. It looked from the outside to be really serious.
I really do hope this robot will get a nice new shiny set of batteries, motors and speed controllers.
Its one of the robots which I always remember as great fun from when we were just watching the shows and is great entertainment value.
Andy
PS: if its not being fixed Id love to take the shell and build it up
 What happened to it?
if i know trevor he will be rebuilding it right now. he has built everything in that robot so it wont be too difficult for him :)
im sure trev will re build it
Good, thought wed lost one by the look of it.
It had a bit of a fire and have to say it looked a very sorry state.
Andy
sometimes things look worse than they are. trev will bring the mouse back live and kicking
Joey,
In a fight against TAN and Pressure ? Or was that L ? Anyway, Tan had him clamped and then the other robot flipped both TAN and the still-clamped Mighty Mouse. You know TAN shrugs a flip off as unimportant but for MM it was a real slam. See page 9 in my pictures. Then MM was shoved into the pit and forgotten during the rest of the fight. A time which it spent thriftily by quietly smoking up without people noticing it. Only when it was taken out of the pit did it become clear that a quick session with the extinguishers was needed.
Poor MM.
But hey, thats the name of the game. If you break it you rebuild it.
Im sure MM will be back, i think it looked a lot worse than it really was, just one set of batteries which were originally from Velocirippa gone up in smoke and a little bit of wiring.
One thing about trevor... he always keeps his machines running if he needs to..hats off to him.
Just a quick message to say thankyou for what was the best event of 2008 so far.
Good audience, good robot turnout, and two great competitions.
Well done to team windpower, the local team taking home both trophies!!!And well done to Geoff Thorpe for keeping the rumble alive.
John

The mouse will be back - new SLA batteries on order and the welder will be out over the weekend.
Trev
Sorry Trevor, (it was Pressure) I know how it feels to blow a set of batteries!
Just took the back plate off DB5, one corner is badly buckled, by about 3/4mm. I can only assume that it was something fast, maybe Pillow Torque? Didnt see it happen, if it was congrats Geoff its the worst it has suffered since this chassis was built.
So I have some cutting and welding to do aswell.
I have to rebuild Cylon after Mr (trigger happy) Stu sent him into orbit and destroyed the screw mechanism which does the lifter.
Hydra just needs a whack with a hammer to adjust the shoes at the front to get it driving straight.

Oops Sorry Ed! :uhoh:
I think it may have been P.I.T.A as it has collected some of your (or someones!) red paint along the re-enforcing plate at the back along with a good solid impact!.
Just looked at Elizabeths photos of Mighty Mouse, I can see why the roll bar was such a mess now, I was baffled as to how TAN could do so much damage.
