Another really great event by the crew. Every time I go to a Roaming Robots event Im always impressed by the amount of effort they go to to put on a good show.
Many thanks for letting us try 8Ack out and also thanks to the teams who took part. Ive certainly learned some lessons which Ill cover in another bit of the forum.

Thankyou to all RR peeps for putting on a great event. Vertigo performed nicely but could do with some improvements... would anyone like to send me their damage pics? :)

12th/13th March, Roaming Robots at Magna - Sheffield
Im saying nothing.
But well done to everyone, was a great event, thanks for being helpful and considerate since it was a bit of a rush Saturday night. Hectic getting the new arena effects to work. Well worth the wait. More paint for the arena for Denbigh, pit fixed, arena flipper will have 3 INPUT valves instead of just the 2 we saw at Magna.
Well done and thanks again, reports etc going online asap. See you at our next show at Denbigh.

Sorry I missed the last show - I had caught a stinking cold at that place......OK in the pits and by the arena but it was about 40 degrees below in the corridor - in fact it was warmer outside than some places inside
BTW David is sneezing his head off too
-
12th/13th March, Roaming Robots at Magna - Sheffield
It broke with like 4 battles to go. Oh well.

Are you gonna add the angle grinders? You have put a switch for them on your evil mean little arena control panel afterall :proud:
-
12th/13th March, Roaming Robots at Magna - Sheffield
If i get my way, ill have flame jets, 2 arena hammers, kill saws, angel grinders (Yes Karoline - angEL grinders! LOL!). Theres a health and safety warning for using voltages in the work place above 110V or something. We may get em, 24v versions or something later, but not soon.

Ah great event, just a little problem with who was going in when and a case of stick the feathers in, no wait were doing heavys, no put the feathers back in but thats just normal and expected. Only other little grumble was health and safety in the pits regarding small children running round and at one point a lad was crawling around on the floor where it would have been possible for someone to accidentally trip over him possible causing a worse accident, but all in all it was a great friendly event and we had alot of enjoyment.
Ewan ill send you some pictures of the dints you put in my 1mm Ail when I get the chance, oh and to answer your comment you was no where near doing as much damage to Conundrum that Vortex had done, other than that the arena flipper did the most damage bending in one of the front drum supports and ripped out the speedos, drum control, receiver and lid from where they was bolted down but I really do believe that if Conundrums drive battery had some charge left I would have been able to carry on after the flip with everything fully working but its all really just alot of fun and enjoyment not only for me but also the crowd.
We had a great time talking to a few of you and would like to give thanks to Geoff and Ian Lockhart for helping us out during the event. Next event we go to I promise to have Conundrum Mk2 fully working and under weight.
And finally Stu, hope you had a great birthday party and sorry I missed it as we would have dropped by but we had the mistake of thinking it was on Sunday not Saturday, I was looking forward to seeing the cake as a friends mum from my college course had made it for you.

No probs Chris - yeah its a cool cake, will put a picture of it on the RR event report site along with more pictures and video clips. We have some very high quality footage on its way soon. More info on that at a later date.
And can we just say - good sports for all the Feather Weights who went on the arena flipper (even if they didnt mean to be flipper) and to let heavy weights know, there the next weight class to fly as high as the feathers - more input valves on their way into the ram. :)

Oh and all my haste and speed I forgot to give a massive thanks to the Roaming Robots team and specially Jonno for once again putting on a great show and providing much enjoyment and satisfaction to the crowd while providing a good atmosphere where there excellent new arena and high standards has once again made this one of the best shows we have been too.

Dont worry too much people it was only one rare isolated case in the few events we have been to and I dont want this to upset or anger anyone, Roaming Robots from our view have a very well managed health and safety system and have always run events professionally and with a lot off passion and dedication which is what we need to progress.
Im sure everyone has an understanding to how much is put into these events, but im sure not many people really know how much is put into the shows and the organisation.
But like ive said dont let this one very small comment over shadow the great work and dedication of each event and the time and money that has been put into Roaming Robots to make it the company it is today that is providing the sport with a fighting chance of staying alive and especially enjoyment to all the fans who come to watch the shows.
Anyway as always a great show and looking forward to the next one.

Chris, I thank you for your comment on this and I know you wernt having a dig or targeting anyone in particular but in the end Im responsible for what my son does so I do worry about it. Its no more than any responsible parent would do :)

12th/13th March, Roaming Robots at Magna - Sheffield
Karoline, David wasnt the only little one there. So it may not have been David.
As for driving down the pit, I had a little less control because the robot was upside down and the gyro was turned off. I was trying to go around the pit, but spun in instead.
Yet again I would like to thank the RR crew for a great event, it was well organised and the Magna center is a great venue. Looking forward to the next event.:)

Well sone to Rampage for winning the feathers (how do they keep winning??). Well done to Ewe 2 for getting to the final and putting up a good fight, no doubt we will have a rematch at some point :) First time Merlin has ran without problems. G3s base is bending and Alpha got aload of damage from Little Hitter, so a few repairs will be done for next events.
Well done to all people involved, the arena stood up well. Lets hope its a sign of things to come.

Enjoyed this event and like last year it was a great success, A little disapointed we missed our semi final, but big nipper seems to have the grip back after countless different wheels and configurations.

As promised Ewan here are the pictures of the dints you put in our 1mm Ali side armour, and also having a check over it I noticed you have put a small scuff on our drum.

Gotta say Chris Mk2 looks very nicely put together and well engineered. Look forward to seeing the finished robot.
What motor have you got running the Drum?
Still got to get Zero running.
Fancy a match up Drum-on-Drum if i ever get to the same events as you?
-
12th/13th March, Roaming Robots at Magna - Sheffield
Conundrum Mk1s drum is powered by a 24v Gold Motor at 3:1 off of 24v with the drum weighing 2.5Kg, the drum teeth are 8mm steel bolts.
Conundrum Mk2s drum is powered by a http://www.robotcombat.com/marketplace_ev.htmlEv

Hang on a second Chris,
What exactly are you proposing to tip the blades with? I hope its not something like tungsten carbide as this wouldnt be allowed on the grounds of being too brittle.

Ive also done some updates here - http://www.micro-maul.co.uk/vertigo.htmlhttp://www.micro-maul.co.uk/vertigo.html
-

Yeah and you might wanna add that Vertigo was over 14.5kg.
I think you was one of the teams that took the p*ss in terms of using a free buy of being over weight at the first event. Luckly most roboteers allowed you to run since your disc wasnt damaging. But at the next event you need to be spot on 12kg.

Geoff ive been assured by the machine shop that it is not brittle and will not shatter. The alloy is Stellite which is going to be welded to the mild steel teeth so it is fused together. Stellite is a alloy containing cobalt, chromium, and tungsten, usually used for high-speed, heavy-duty, high temperature cutting tools im assured that it is shock resistant unlike Tungsten Carbide and safe to be used on the bot.
