Who is taking part in the northern heats this weekend?
I sadly cant attend due to work.
We have 6 entrants in the assault course with them all entering the football. Its amazing what you can create with a bit of mdf, a few drill motors and a few weekends.

UK Robotic Games
Lenny, you should know by now that you aim to finish a week before an event. That way you should actually finish at about 3am the night before. :)
-
UK Robotic Games
Its based on the Scotty Principle :)

UK Robotic Games
Not long back from the Final and somehow managed to claim first place in the 3kg Sumo wtithout actually doing anything (many thanks to Ankle Biter and D3 for elimintaing the other while we spun around on the spot :proud:) Thanks to the UKRG team for putting on a thoroughly enjoyable event and we look forward to next years event (if there is one)

UK Robotic Games
So who is entering this year?
I am thinking (looking at the feather) of throwing together a quick small entrant for the assault course. Possibly the football if someone wanted to team up.
-
UK Robotic Games
I could team up with you Gary , my bot will be 4wd so it should be a good robot
-
UK Robotic Games
Well be back this year, upping the amount of entries. The plan so far is to enter our two bots from last year (feather and 3kg sumo bot) but also having two super-antweights, competing in all the categories. Now that the deadline is July, I might rustle up a simple 4wd feather for assault course, sumo, football and possibly tug of war. But Im certainly looking forward to it already.
Any news on DVDs from last years event? I heard they were planning on being released but havent heard much more for a while now.

Got a 4wd setup running now, still got to finish armouring it up and wire in some parts (mainly removeable link and LEDs). Once I get the hinged wedge and footy guides made for it, should be sorted :)

Just a little vid of running it in the living room - had to cover the rear wheels in sellotape to help it turn on carpet without gobbling up too much current :lame:

Sugar, LED!
Looking good though. Looks very controllable.
Where did you find the power rangers theme?

3 questions
1: what is the setup in that? batts controllers motors etc
2: nice rug, where did you bu it?
3: why didnt you roll the rug up and run on the floorboards?
looks good

UK Robotic Games
Lol Gary, just ducktape a torch on to the top of it, although I seem to remember Paul Cooper saying last year that they werent too strict over power lights as long as the link was fitted so you might be able to get away with it.
Got the Power Rangers theme from my bandmate (hes got us rehearsing it now :proud:) who found it somewhere but I dont know where.
James, kept the setup simple, four 9.6V drill motors, powered by two 12V 2.3Ah (or 2.1 Ah, whichever ones are charged) SLAs in parallel and controlled by Electronize 30Ampers with external relays. I thought about having a turbo function to boost the voltage up to 18V for short periods giving large spurts of speed but decided not to (Im gonna save it for use in Hurricane :)) Theres a piccy on my profile of the setup from last week when I gave it a quick test run.
Got the rugs out of a local shopping centre a couple of years ago, they provide a nice background sometimes for robot pics.
If I rolled the rug up and ran on floorboards, my mum would have come home from work and probably killed me, especially if Id left big scrapes in the wood :lame:

Im banned from playing with bots in the house
Looking good though Jamie, see you on Saturday!
Mr Stu
-
UK Robotic Games
You shouldnt run Pussycat in the living room anyways Stu. :)
-
UK Robotic Games
Thats not even allowed in the house Full stop, not after mum saw what i did to the lamp post outside  Opps.
Mr Stu
-
UK Robotic Games
Lol, thats a good way to get rid of unwanted lamp posts :) Im surprised Ive not been banned yet, have scraped the kitchen and bathroom floors a bit because of random screwheads sticking out here and there. I tend to run them outside now but even that leaves some marks on the patio - perhaps Im pushing my luck a bit. Gives me a reason to attend events though :proud:

you do NOT want to hear what ive done in the house with robots.
does not set any kind of example for new builders... only ever run them outside, trust me on that!

from the event. As I said on the UKRG forum, the videos are our two feathers on the Assault Course and the football match at the end which completely disregarded the whole UK Robotic Games is a non-comabt robot event aim :lame:

Is that a smaller version of Mighty Mouse i see there?
-
UK Robotic Games
Yup, been around for a while now - its got a nifty little low pressure flipper for combat set-up (got to love the car steering sometimes).
Cheers for the stickers Jamie. Forgot to stick in a word at the event, will do at the next oppuritunity - whens your next event?
