Jonnos very busy at the moments, and i think i can answer some of your questions oh dear nice Mrs Taurus :)

Wicksteed theme park show times,

10:30am - 12:30, 12:45pm - 2:45pm, 3:00pm - 5:00pm

Arrive for advised 9am giving 1 hour 30 mins to get loaded, settled down, and tech checks done.
Camping on Friday night as well as Saturday - thats fine, the RR crew will be there from Friday day time onwards anyway and camping on site.

Taurus not on the web site list coz correct you havnt signed up through the web site. New system now Mrs B, to attened an event, sign up through the web site, you shouldnt ask to sign up. hehe Like Mr B shouldnt have to ask for his dinner to be cooked. LOL!!! Still plenty of room for you to come, but might be helpful for you to sign up via the web site, coz we use your email address that you use to sign up with as a contact point for further information about the event. As to expenses, email jonno.

Its looking like were only going to be there on the Sunday. I was hoping to come both days but Waynes working on the Saturday (his priorities are all wrong) and as he provides the transport it makes it a little difficult to get there.

I tried to persuade one of our sponsors to come along but he proved less biddable than Id hoped.

I really must learn how to drive.

Yes im very busy with all sorts of stuff, all top secret and if i told you id have to kill you :)

Stus answered most of the questions, email has been sent to roboteers, but basically arena outdoors, marquee for pits, marquee for statics and merchandise, two blocks of seats under cover for crowd, standing area for other.

camping facilities on site, bring beer and food.

OK, so in the event of rain, the arena may get wet :-)

Its happened before kane, and again and aagin, and it may happen aagin, we will see. But nothing big comes of it, the arena is mostly water proof. :) It rained at Billing.

It also rained at Gloucester and Warwick, and i seem to remember Robotica style waterfalls!

Bit more duct tape round the speed controllers, thats all you need.

REMINDER ROADWORKS!! There are roadworks on the A14 between J7 and J8, so there might be delays. If you come that way allow a bit more time.

Waynes just rang to tell me his company now needs him to work Sunday as well, so Im stuck for transport both days.

Its a pity cause Hinckley to Kettering is really quite a short trip but still too long for me on my bicycle, particualrly with a heavy and a feather. :)

Great event with a good turn out. The weather seemed to hold out while the event was on until the last show today.

Great event, good weather all weekend, ( during the day, anyway), tiered seating was good, everybody getting a good view of the action, hope RR can make this a yearly event.

Got to say we enjoyed this event. Mainly because its the first event in a long while where the robot has worked without any problems. Shame about the arena floor but you all did your best to repair it quickly, sorry about that Jonno, you can blame some of it on us but you know the more times you let us fight the quicker the spikes will wear down and the less damage they will cause :). Very Glad the weather forcasts were wrong as it turned out to be nice and sunny with just a slight brease for all but the last fight.

just been up the workshop and rebuilt Merlins flipper. You aint going to hurt this one! Before it was 25*25*2 box, now its 25*25 SOLID steel! If you bend that we might as well give up :P

How about its own flipping action bending its self? Or possibly snapping any welds?

Mute suffers from this problem as the momentum in the front flipper is trying to bend it... if you have added a lot of weight into your flipper you might have the same problem too.

Bear in mind that we are bending a laminate of 5mm stainless channel, 2mm stainless sheet, 4mm GR5 titanium sheet, and 4mm GR5 titanium T-section. Just food for thought :)

Last night we took the robot out of its box for some fresh air and noticed at one side the wheels were stiff. After closer examination we found that it was the motor. Took it apart and found that half a magnet was missing and the windings were black with a strong smell of burning :sad:

We think it was either the impact with Merlin or Storm II.

Anyone got a CIM 2 motor for sale? Our spare also has a chip out of the magnet coutousy of Iron-Awe.

sorry alan for bending merlin, but i do like a challenge so i will give my best shot if you like:)

it wasnt due to it bending itself, when it bent up on saturday, it was due to a head-on-head with Big Nipper (weve watched the video back and you see it bend as we hit, may also be what took there motor out, as they bounce back 4 foot!). But Thor bent it back for us on the sunday, although bent a few other places as well!

Would like to see the Vid if possible.

Merlin vs Big Nipper fight - think its about 4.1mb

Has anyone got any video of the chompie / big nipper fight? I thoroughly enjoyed that one :) had to sharpen our jaws after, seemed to have gone blunt.
