Will there be some directions on how to load in, which dock / car park to get to? I've never been to Birmingham, let alone the NEC, so navigating is a bit daunting.
Navigating the NEC is daunting regardless. Hoping this year, 3rd time, we'll start to understand it. Though in previous years the (often useless) car park "officials" have consistently found ways to contradict each other. Generally more info about it all comes up closer to the time.
Also, 2/3rds in 5 hours is nuts!
Someone needs to strap on a GoPro and do a video of the check-in process. :lol:

The NEC staff are useless, our first 2 years got sent round in endless circles trying to find a way to get a loading pass, even got told on several occasions we had to pay!
In short, if you can manage to carry your stuff over from the car park (tool box with wheels or sack barrow helps!) then park in the nearest open car park to the hall we're in and walk it over. You get parking passes as you leave at the end of the day so don't have to pay.
80% full! Not many places left and lots of teams taking advantage of the 2 days of testing! As soon as the event is full rankings will be announced along with more event details.

On my first year i got completly lost, out and inner NEC. I stayed on IBIS Airport/ETAP and walked across the Train station to NEC. Staff on NEC can help or not, depends of who you "found".
I always entered by the "main gate" of hall. But im sure that if anyone get stucked on NEC, we (another competitors) will do our best to help ;)

Best fight: Rango - Ellis's relentless driving and robot design similarity.

Most like to face: Cicatrix - It needs more air time!
Best fight: 720 - Should give a great fight with Binky's slopped armour and 720's thick outer edge. Binky will either put 720 OOTA or 720 will peel back Binky's armour like paper.
I'm really looking forward to this can't wait to see who i get in the draw, hopefully it's not one of the massive spinners though

Least like to face: NST - Horizontal spinner, could make a total mess of the Ti. Close between NST and LS4, but since NST is invertible, it makes it harder to beat.
Most like to face: Kaizer - Also needs some air time XD
Best fight: Defector (you'll see) - Battle of the Überflippers!!

Most like to face: Any tall hdpe box robots or vert spinners. Clock some real horrorshow hits on them.
Best fight: Rango? We've designed the robots together, so know them pretty well and are matched. I could maybes pop his drum out, but he have thick armour, tough frame, fast drive and a pretty decent weapon against a slow robot with no armour.
Not bothered by any spinners due to me not being a massive pussy ;)
with 4 qualifying battles each we are hoping to spread the points out more as last year if you didn't win a couple by knockout you would be pushed to get through. Also with 4 qualifiers thats 8 opponents which means everyone should get a better blend of opponents.
Or a more blended robot. :P
Will think about mosts and leasts, hmmm...

Hi James, I know its early to be asking, but can you give us a rough size for each team's pit area? Just a rough estimate will really help me with packing all the tools and accessories. Also, what's security like? Do we need to totally clear out all our gear at the end of each day?
Each robot is allocated half a trestle table. Space is always a premium but is not a problem so long as people keep to their own area. Over night there are security people in the halls but if there is anything of specific value we do allow people to put certain bit in the arena which is kept locked alternatively take valuables with you.

Other than that, I'd say Massacre vs Little Spinner 4 would be an interesting one. Could end up like Typhoon 2 vs Megabyte, however...

Least like to face - Explosion . It has bouncy armour which isn't the best for an axe to do damage!
Most like to face - NST. I think it would be the most exciting fight for me, knowing that if I fire the axe at the wrong time it could just tear the head straight off! I think I could out drive it but would be a very interesting and exciting fight.
Best Fight - 720. Its very well protected on the top and bottom, so even with a powerful axe isn't likely to do a lot of damage. Super fast drive so tricky to keep head on at but I think we would both keep going for a very long time.
James- on the new format during the initial 3 way fights, will the seeded robots be split up, preventing seeded robots clashing in the first round? Or do all robot names go into one hat regardless of ranking?
Do other sporting competitions split up seeds? I think RW used to do it, one seed per qualifier.
