The voice-over chap sounds seriously bored out of his mind, but I shouldn't diss the advert. I was lucky enough to catch it the week before the first episode aired and tuned in out of mild curiosity. That mild curiosity instantly turned into utter love and excitement and was a pivotal point in making up my mind over what career path to pursue. Sounds a bit corny but it's true 8)

Robot Wars was the only other program to be internally advertised... during Red Dwarf night, shown on BBC2 in February 1998 to celebrate Red Dwarf's 10th anniversary.

I recall the use of Mars (War of the Worlds)theme from the original advert. That must be one of the most taped adverts the BBC ever had.
