motor size

Sorry for the bump.
Westbourne Models seems to be selling the real Graupner Speed 900 motor now. Can't find any pictures or indications anywhere of the alternative motor they were stocking.

It's still priced at £32 so therefore it's still the cheapest around. I need to order one but I'm half-tempted to pay the extra that it costs to buy from Redbank Models just in case Westbourne send through one of the 'fake' motors.

Think I'll just stick with Redbank in that case then; more expensive but I had no problems the last time I ordered from them.

While everyone was out of stock I ordered six from a model store in france, after the conversion rate inc. shipping it worked out cheaper than Westbourne Models but I cannot find the site again now or the invoice. Doh!

I went to order from Redbank Models the other day but they were out of stock so I had a look around the net for alternatives and found that Cornwall Model Boats also had them. At £36 (inc vat) they're a whopping 99p cheaper than Redbank Models :lol:
But on a serious note, I ordered it on Thursday night, so it wouldn't have got processed until yesterday, and I've just had it turn up at my door this morning, which is excellent in my opinion. So I'd definitely recommend them if anyone is looking to buy some:

What do you guys do for gear boxes when you buy a motor like that?

right they are sending one out to me at no extra cost

so i paid £26.64 for the motor in the original order

I use mine as weapon motors so I don't have any gearboxes. I just use a couple of timing pulleys (44-tooth on the drum and something like 16-tooth on the motor) and just connect them together with a timing belt.

My drive units came from Mario (Team RCC), I happen to have a pair of spare gearbox plates for them. They fit a 6:1 ratio gearset, I'll try and find a pic

Timing Belts, thats a neat idea. Do you get an element of slip on impact so the stop force isn't carried to the motor?

I'm assuming those gearboxes are custom made?
