Well, they arent always - vapourbotting does tend to exagerate the damage that things actually do, to wheels (see: slammer) but as a full body spinner, they are the most obvious target.

Well, they arent always - vapourbotting does tend to exagerate the damage that things actually do, to wheels (see: slammer) but as a full body spinner, they are the most obvious target.
Besides, if a wheel gets torn off, it makes moving around that much harder, not to mention makes it pratically impossible to push anything since it cant move in a straight line, and reduces speed somewhat.
So yeah, targetable wheels=bad.
In the words of sewer snakes owner:
Youll only get my wheels if you do your job, you wont if i do mine.
There are loads of robots out there with targetable wheels that never have a problem. Simply because the wheels are on the outside doesnt make them weak.
Yes, but there is a greater chance of wheels getting shredded when the opponent has a powerful spinning weapon, or is one, than not. In this case there is. No axe is capable of causing such damage to a wheel, and a wedge/flipper is certainly out of the question. Good spinning weapons + opponent having exposed wheels = a good chance of opponents wheels getting destroyed. :)
Unless youre Overkill. :proud:
If i were Alex i would not look at the wheels but that thing spinning in between. :)
Check the robot on my profile. The class it fights in has the most overpowered insane spinners of all, and no opponent ever even touched those wheels.
Im obviously aware of the weapon, and Id of coruse rather not get hit by it - however, I cant really base a legitimate strategy on defense - but as tengu is a full body spinner, if you hit me, I hit you, and my weapon is going to be lkess flimsy than you. Ill go for the wheels, but if I hit you anywhere it does me good.
I am not saying Tiny Tengu has no chance or cant knock the wheels off, my point is only that in my experience having wheels on the outside doesnt need to be a bad thing as so often protrayed. Touch as nails for instance has been driving with exposed wheels since 2001, and is still using the same wheels.
Which is fair enough, Im just saying that vapours do suffer from wheel damage far more easily - practically every fight my own slammer has lost has been due to people somehow destroyign the wheels, despite whatever renforcements I describe in the stats.
Anyways, regardless of outcome, should be a good match
Hello, folks, our next fight is...
Scarlet Touch vs. Sith
Scarlet Touch is a concept by Anthony Politzi, and quite nippy it is, with those two side hammers. Its also got two wedges, front and rear, to try and prevent other wedges from getting under and getting even. Its also got a good 5mm of Ti armour, but will its slighty poor control be its red card out?
Sith weighs the same as its opponent at 12kg, but is a much different bot. Its side are slanted to foil wedges from the side, and it has electronic plates that dig into the ground to get under anything, so says the wise Alex. Its also got a dandy red flipping arm that is powered by actuators, but thats pretty much it.

ACTIVATE!
Its Sith who breaks the immobile silence, and being the faster of the two is able to hit Scarlet Touch right away, before he can do anything! The plates act, and Sith slams Scarlet Touch against the wall as he does so! Now, with Scarlet Touch trapped against the wall, what can Sith do? FLIP! Thats what? And a nice one too, but not quite as Scarlet Touch comes to the nearest edge of the arena but manages to stay back in, being tricky to flip. Sith is slightly peeved at this, but now Scarlet Touch is spinning madly now, upsy-downy, hammers flying, and Sith is at a standstill at the moment. I dont think that those hammers can do much against Siths armour, but Alex isnt taking any chances! Or maybe he is, as Sith is now cautiously approaching the whirling tempest that is Scarlet Touch. And we have lift-off, as Sith guns forward without warning, and the hammer slams against the side of Sith, but nothing has happened in Tonys favour because Sith is alive and well, and tossing Scarlet Touch right against the wall! Tonys bot does a sort of wheelie on the spot, still inverted, and Sith streaks by, bumping the tire a little, and now theres a light tap to the rear of Sith, but nothing major. Now very near the floor flipper, which can, in this tournament, go off very suddenly, I must warn you. Heres Sith, with a shove to Scarlet touch, past the flipper into the corner, and Scarlet Touch feels the ragged touch of the arena wall! Sith activates his own flipper but only catching a wheel gently turns Scarlet Touch right-side-up, and Tonys bot is away and spinning once more. Sith approaching, a little more confident this time, it seems, and oh, goodness me, one of the hammers caught the wedge and sent Tonys thwacker away a few feet. Ole! And Scarlet Touch hasnt lost any of its momentum, its still in a desperate twirl of death! Sith, into the danger zone! And finally there is some damage, to the side of Sith, a small dent but clearly visible in the titanium side! But Scarlet Touch is now in a stranglehold, as Sith has flicked under him, and right into the wall! FLIP! Surviving again is Scarlet Touch as he still stays put in the arena...Sith is rather determined to boot Scarlet Touch to the sidelines. :proud: Theres another charge from him, and the wedges on Scarlet Touch are doing no good against the lifting plates, and Sith has him again, and wheel against wheel, and FLIP! Less impressive, and Scarlet Touch gets away again, spinning, a whirling dervish. Sith boldly thrusts himself back into the spinning hammers. Whoa-ho, Scarlet Touch is sent back again, with a little bump away. Sith is in his face and FLIP! Right onto the flame pit! Scarlet Touch flees the flames and accidentally hits the arena wall in his frenzy. Sith in again, and another FLIP! Scarlet Touch lands a few feet away from that toss and spins again, but not fast enough to prevent another tackle from the boxy Sith, and FLIP! Tossed into the wall! Scarlet Touch bounces away, and is again spinning! What perseverance! Sith is less than impressed by this, Im very sure, and drives backwards towards the pit release button.

Weak armour, huh? Well, whats an axe to do? Try to aim for the sides, best I dont run into any problems concerning the flipper/crusher thing.
