Now I got some other tv projects I've been working on finished I thought I'd post the specs of my first fw I've built since having prodigy (2006 championship 3rd place) and prodigy evo (the first single toothed fw spinner)
I have quietly accumulated most parts over the last 12 months, concentrated on getting a new lathe, pillar drill and other tools into my workshop. and this week I'm starting the build now I have some spare time and space.
I had retired but I have sons who want to be roboteers so I decided to dust off the cobwebs for a last go!
4wd invertible rambot
4 bar electric lifter
20mm hdpe sides and rear
10mm hdpe lid
8mm hdpe base
5mm titanium laminated in Kevlar scoop/ flipper weapon
Basically a 4wd version of storm 2, I'm looking to get completed in 8 weeks and will post some in build pics as I go.
Theirs no fancy cad drawings or cnc machining here just basic tools and equipment to again prove you can build a competitive machine (for any newbies)on a basic budget using simple tools!

Good luck, looking forward to the build diary

"Basic tools and equipment"
"A basic budget using simple tools"
"Lathe"
One of these things is not like the others :P.

Haha lathe is a basic tool isn't it?
-
Put it this way: as a student, I have Google Sketchup, but I don't have a lathe. ;)
-
I read that as "Googles Ketchup" and was like man... They've broadened their horizons...
I don't have a lathe either but many CAD packages and 3d printer, so I guess it depends on what you prefer/find easier.

My lathe is pretty old, I use it on the wheels
