Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
Here's a good one for you all to solve cos I can't get my head round it.
I use two 85a escs. One had its red wire cut so only one esc was powering the esc. Fought 6 fights not a problem.
After the final fight, the link is taken out but the comes lose within and pulls the wiring a bit but can't tell exactly where. Now the esc that was powering the Rx isn't able to power it anymore and only works as an esc but only does that if the red wire is connected?!
In short, both escs have their red receiver wires connected now but one esc only works at all with that wire connected but won't work as a BEC also. Surely it shouldn't work at all rather than that?!
Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
Sounds like the link the between the BEC pads inside has been broken. The turnigy speedos come with a switch that turns on and off the bec via two pads on the board. It looks like the bot bitz speedos connect this inside as I did with my own speedos. The easy thing to do is to not bother doing anything as your setup works. The other option is to open up the nackered speedo. There should be two pads on the power in side that should be connected.
Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
Sorry to sound dumb but are you talking about the physical on/off switch that the original speedo came with but botbitz remove?
What can't get is how it happened?! Could you tell me roughly where in the esc these pads are?
Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
That would be my assumption, yes. From memory, if you open up the speedo and are looking at it with the power wires on the left and the motor wires on the right then the pads are in the top left hand corner.
Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
Cheers. Will have a look when I get 5 mins. Mega annoying when the robot works so well all weekend!
I'll update the forum as well for future reference for others.
Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
Just had a look. They are still connected. It's defo an issue with the esc as I've isolated it to that.
Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
Can someone remind me how long the shipping takes for botbitz controllers to the UK?
Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
I'd say leave 10-14 days, or longer. Ours (to Spain not the UK, mind, with several bank holidays messing things up) took 20 days if I remember right.
Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
Buy a programmer for £15 online, solder the connections to a turnigy 85a controller (around £25 each) and you have as many as you need. Give a man a fish and all that.
Re: Turnigy tz85a from BotBitz
Think that will be the way forward. I've ordered a new botbitz esc for now and any future ones will be hacked by myself. Have you got a link to the programmer please? Also, have you got a link to the instructions for the hack? I remember seing them but can't remember where.
Cheers
Dan
