How could I Improve pt 2
Paul, be patient.
Ben, were gonna move this over here. I dont want Dave thinking were mucking up his thread.
Weight break-down of Robo-Hedgehog =
Armour (thanks to Leos calculator) = 54.9kg
Chassis = ~15kg
Weapons (excluding interchangeables) = ~50kg
Motors = 12.4kg
Batteries = 14.4kg
Tracks, gears, and rest of motivation = ~20kg
Teeth on top = ~5-10kg
The rest = 10kg
So you are nearly overweight on armour and weapons alone.

Scary how fast that armour piles on the kilos isnt it?
btw, its not my calculator, it is the default way to calculate weight.
1 dm3 is the same as a plate 1m x 1m x 1mm (think of a cube of 10cm x 10cm x 10cm and slice them into tiles of 1mm you would have 100 tiles making a square of 1m2 of 1mm thick).
So if you take a square plate of 1m2 of say 5mm you have 5 dm3. Then its just a matter of multiplying that with the density of the material.
If you then realize that a 1 mm Hardox plate would be 7.8kg already, imagine the 6mm to 8 mm armoured vapourbots we have in these competitions. Thats why I agree with Graig on the build small policy when it comes to thick armour or armouring on key areas only.

Right, Paul, lets see these changes. :P

How could I Improve pt 2
NITRO-GENE 5.0
€ WEIGHT: 100kg
€ ARMOUR: 3.25mm monocoque Hardox for the body, with very strong Stainless Steel bolts. 6mm Hardox flipper. Inside the body, there€™s 1cm of Vulkanised rubber on the sides and rear, with 3cm on the front to help fight powerful spinners, and theres also 0.5cm of PU foam covering the motors and flipper rams inside for protection.
€ SHAPE: Low invertible box with sides and rear angled in a shape, with the rear angled . The front is completely flat, making it useful at hitting into things and bashing. All the lines have been curved over to make it harder for a spinner to grab onto a panel and rip.
€ MOTORS: 2 x S28-400 MagMotors at 36V = 12HP
€ LOCOMOTION: 4 Vulkanised Wheels, each is 40mm in width, and they€™re also 180mm in diameter.
€ DIMENSIONS: (L) 79CM (H) 17CM (W) 63CM
€ COLOUR: Dark Blue all over with the flipper coloured red with the name imblazed on the flipper (running vertically down the robot) in gold writing with a thick silver outline. All the edges of the robot are coloured gold.
€ WEAPONRY: A full pressure Nitrogen powered flipper at 1000psi, using a single 110mm ram at 1000psi. The flipper is mounted in the middle of the robot, and is 15cm wide and runs 75cm up the body. Using a 5cm long 10mm thick Titanium wedge underneath the flipper, and a heavy flipping arm, the flipper runs completely along the ground. Running on a ratio 2.5:1, the flipper produces 1400kg of force at the tips, allowing me to launch anyone away! This version has enough lift to get a robot of equal size 11-6ft into the air, and throw it 11-6ft along. This version has 1 x 1.5kg Nitrogen bottle, giving me 10 flips! The flipper has enough power to self-right Nitro-Gene 5.0 in a super stylish 540* somersault!
€ SPEED: 20mph
€ GROUND CLEARANCE: 0CM-1CM. At the front, it is completely 0mm. On the skirted sides/rear, its 1cm. 4mm Titanium skirts held on by Hardox hindges are mounted on the sides/rear and join up at the corners, making it harder to get under.
€ STRENGTH: Pushing power and weaponry.
€ WEAKNESS: High ground clearance underneath skirts.

Right. Few things...
- Battery stats? (you say you dont know anything about them, so you should LEARN ABOUT THEM! :P)
- I would recommend changing the armour to titanium to save weight for dimension enlarging
- DIMENSIONS! ARE! STILL! WAY! TOO! SMALL! Some middleweights have greater dimensions than that! Seriously, height is okay, but you REALLY need to make the length and width more. around 90cm length and around 80cm width is good.
- Lower the voltage for the MagMotors, that will save more weight for batteries WHICH YOU NEED :P
Sorry if I sound crabby but your stats are really frustrating, and have been for a while -_-;

How could I Improve pt 2
hi
this is my first post in the vapourbot section, i have designed a bot and would like to see what you think of it.
Name: Crash
Armor: 6mm hardox on the front and 6mm Titainium on the sides and back
Chassis: 6mm polycarb
Battery: 2 12v sealed-lead-acid bats wired in series
Motors: 2 magmotors at 24v
T.x: hitec laser 4
R.x: hitec feather
Weapon: A full pressure, c02 powered flipper at 750psi, with 2 110mm rams, the flipper is made out of 8mm mild steel, should be enough to get me 8-10 flips
Weight: around 98kgs
Shape: a basic wedge
Wheels: 2x go-kart wheels, mounted at the back of the bot
Pics/Cads: none, i dont have Cad
Additional notes: the flipper is hinged at the back
if i have made any serious errors please tell me
jack

How could I Improve pt 2
Hello Jack,
Welcome to the vapourbot section.
Now, as your vapourbot:
a Polycarb chassis is hardly ever used in anything heavier than a featherweight. Most use steel box section or use the armour as a selfsupporting frame (aka monocoque).
What we do need from you is dimensions, as in length, width, and height.
When you say a basic wedge, do you mean a triangular type of wedge or a boxy wedge?
We dont need the TX and RX, we assume they are basically covered unless you have something special, be that would be silly really.
Weapon. 2 rams of 110mm (I assume you mean the diameter with that) would be very powerfull indeed. However you say 8 to 10 flips, but not where the gas comes from. Normal is 1.2kg or 2kg CO2 gas bottles. depending on the shape and form you have either 1 or 2 of these on board. Keep in mind that 2 bottles mean twice the space and twice the weight. A 2kg bottle (wicht means there is 2kg of gas in there)weighs up to 5kg when filled.
Its not bad for a first try, hope you can clear some things up.
