reality-challenged Too PC for me leo, more like total fruitloop comes to mind!!
Leo, have you checked out any more of that guy on youtube? I take it back, hes not a total fruitloop... He is compleatly and certifiably insane, in fact I would go as far as to say in the right circumstances he could actualy be dangerous. (or he is one hell of an actor)
Yes, and the scary thing is he was given access to Holland at one time since he asked questions in Amsterdam about Flying saucers and alien overlords. And those are the nice videos. His rantings against evolution are even worse.
He is one sick puppy.
Youre insulting the puppies Leo. Puppies actually do have some sense of sanity. Everyone who has ever seen a puppy making a wide detour around the local tomcat knows this.
Just imagine being on the same planet as the gorilla - Id rather take my chances with the LHC and the local tomcat

:)
I had 4 days off last week to move home. I turn up for work as usual yesterday at 8am and by 8:15 was told that I didnt have a job any more so here I am redundant and unemployed again - thats twice in 18 months
Nice of them to tell you before eh... stooopid employers. Ive been off 3 weeks and think 2 more and works being an idiot... can I help it if I have a bulging prolapsed disc in my back... anywho on a brighter note I GOT A NINTENDO WII FIT yesterday for when im better
thats sucks Karoline what was there reason for making you redundant
Why did they lay you off Karoline? This is awful news indeed.
Not enough work in the house clearance/cleaning side of things - although we have been working our (expletive) socks off fitting security screens and doors - but there again I wasnt taken on as a security door and screen fitter even though I did that too. BTW my colleagues including my supervisor (who had no idea it was coming) were all stunned into silence when I told them.
If your experienced in that sort of thing havent you thought of setting up your own business in it?
I am really looking to get properly into the AV installation market as that is my original work and educational background.
For those that dont know, the Large Hadron Collider was started today. Some fear that the earth will be destroyed when it is switched on, so in order to check whether the earth is indeed destroyed some intellectual masterminds created this website to check:
http://www.hasthelhcdestroyedtheearth.com/http://www.hasthelhcdestroyedtheearth.com/
Check regularly for updates. Ive tested the site 100 times, and every time it has given the correct result. The chance of it getting it right 100 times in a row is literally infinity to 1, so we can take the result from the site as an accurate statement.

LOL love it
Thats a great relief, I was really worried this morning that Switzerland was going to be swallowed up into a black hole but that website has put my fears to rest :)
As a physics AS student I have had hours and hours of lecturing about what it is and how it works (even though it was not part of the corriculum.) Although during the holidays I got the chance to visit it on a school trip and let me tell you it is HUGE. To believe that it take a particle a millionth of a second to travel what we walked round in about an hour and a half is mind-boggeling. They have already made plans for a new one which they claim that to pass the great number of information fast enough, the designed a new version of the internet called The Grid.
hey
first day of secondry school for me
4 sheets of homework for me to do befor 8oclock tommorow morning :uhoh:
jack
Been there done that, how i wouldnt like to go back there
I would I loved being a teenager, I got away with murder literally, I was a Darlek in school
can someone explain it in simple english.
I read the wiki page on it, and still dont get it !!!
Why are they doing it ? and what is it ?
Lol Jack get used to HW I usually end up doing it in Registration even now in Yr9 :proud:
Jonno,
They are trying to re-create the environment a billionth of a second after the Big Bang to look for the birth of the Universe and among other things trying to find the Higgs Particle, by some people referred to as the God Particle. It is the very fabric of space and all matter it contains. The stuff atom parts are made of. That is the hypothesis at least. This experiment is trying to establish evidence for it.
Also see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPxYdObyJ2Ahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPxYdObyJ2A for a nice explanation.
ahhhhh.... im just about to watch about it on the news !! :)
Why are they doing it?
Partly because they can, partly because scientists are naturally nosy buggers and partly because of potential devlopments that can come from it. By being able to take things back to the building blocks they can build new things. This throws up a world of options for potential uses for the outcomes. It may lead to great advances in medicines, power sources and all sorts of other stuff.
That said, it might not!!
How they do it? Summat to do with banging protons and atoms together. Sounds a bit like microwaves on steroids to me. Quite sure if its that simple Craigll have one fitted to his van soon enough so you can see how it works. Maybe hell reverse it to stop his robots falling into a black hole
Andy
The method even though very sophisticated is actually quite crude.
The way they intend to do that is like a pinball machine launches a pinball with as much speed as possible around the table. In this case the table is 28km wide, the balls are particles called Hadrons, and they smash them into each other close to the speed of light at almost absolute 0 temperature.
Destruction, I like it. :)

Were safe everyone, Gordon Freeman is on the job. :)
The protons are not at 0K otherwise they would be a a very low energy, it is only the magnets used to accelerate the particles that are supercold. Inorder that they are superconducting, to get the biggest field possible.
But it would be good it anti gravity tech was developed from this would make a cool new arena effect. Actually this could be done now with a superconducting magnet and pit of liquid nitrogen. As long as the robot was steel.
From the last LHC (before it was transformed 20 years ago) They discovered that Inside electrons in atoms are both energy and Quarks (no, I am not making this up) Now they are trying to find out what are inside quarks.
Ed, according to the diagram of the LHC that I have, the entire ring is kept around the 2K mark.

Even Gordon Freeman couldnt save us!
He probably had a day off. :-)
You wonder why every time you see these big experiments why there is a airport very nearby (theres one basically next door to it:blush:). Mabey its the LHC we should enter to the no rules class at the new battlebots.:-)
Well that was an eventful weekend.......
Friday night about 9.30pm Zach & Lukes dog ran out into the road and got hit by a car and ran. When it ran it didnt stop so we were out looking for it until about midnight.
Got up at 6.00am on Saturday, printed off a load of posters and set off sticking them up everywhere people would notice them. Entrances to the park, and en-route between the park and home. Spent until 10.00 out with Zach looking for him. Went and had breakfast and then went and had breakfast. Dabbled with Hydra and then went out to have another look. About 3.00, 4000 people turned up to watch Barnet at the football club everyone parking all over the area were hit and after about 10minutes I realised everyone coming in had seen the signs.........nothing.
This morning I was taking Zach to Games Day at Birmingham NEC so turned up at 8.00am and there on the doorstep was the dog!! Obviously injured but hed got there (avoiding just about eveybody in the Barnet area cos after our efforts Saturday morning I thin only the agraphobic in Barnet didnt know he was missing). Busted back leg, so off to the vetinary hospital. Hospital was closed so off to my mums to find one that was. Persuaded Mum to take dog to vets and set off to Birmingham.
Quite a good day and relatively good news on the dog whilst en-route but he does need to go back for some xrays just to be sure.
Anyway, you may think why is this nutter rambling on like this!! well, I did say Id do a bit of testing on the DX6i, DX5e and the AR500 receiver. Its just a note to say I havent done it but I have a good excuse!:uhoh:
Andy
Good luck to the poor woofie ! The kittie-cats here are purring for his speedy recovery.
And Im just glad you got him back safe and more or less sound.
