Works now... no idea what that was; said it could not locate the server.
Ewan
I was wondering if it would be a good idea, if you made available freewheel mounts made up of some of the bits you use for the GR02 drives so if some one wanted a robot with 2 wheels driving but wanted 1 or 2 wheels to stop the back of the robot dragging on the ground. They could get the wheels mounted on a free wheel hub made of the shaft bearings and gearbox shell. this would mean the fitting of the freewheel wheels would be as easy as the fitting of the motors. this would make robot construction easy.
What do people think?
That would be great! I have been planning to switch to the GR02's at some point but only run 2 with belts to drive the front. If he does that then I wont have to make custom mounts.
Sell the gearbox cases on their own. I have plenty of drill motors but the plastic gearbox is the weak point.
I'll certainly look into the freewheel mounts - for the front section of the gearbox, second bearing with housing plus shaft you'd be looking at around £12. I've got lots of other work on at the moment though so can't promise this as a product option any time too soon.
Gary, I am somewhat reluctant to sell the gearbox housing separately as it doesn't fit all small drill motor ring gears (most I've used in the past have a larger outer diameter and simply wouldn't fit the mounts without re-cutting), nor does the motor mount fit all 550 motors without increasing the central bore. There comes a point when I can be offering too many product options and if they're not all compatible with one-another then there'll be problems. So maybe in future, not for now.

The bearings from Technobots (link above) come in at £10 so around £12 for the mounts with shaft would seem reasonable. I think no one would think this too expensive.
I agree, that sort of price point seems good
I would like to point out the free wheel hub is just an idea,
and Ewan dose not have to follow through or even comment on it.
I don't want to railroad anyone into doing anything they don't want to do, or don't have time to at the moment.
We must not forget, Gimson robotics is Ewan's business, :D
The hubs will be reasonably priced when they're available! :P
Pictures of the 24V GR02 are now up
