Can someone check this please?
Whats the aluminium in the stats for? :proud:
Looks quite good apart from that, bit Biohazardish.
with 2x LEM200s ur gonna be overweight at that size
Could I make it any smaller, or would drilling loads holes in the arm do the trick?
OK, Ive been thinking about my walking robot idea a little bit more.
1: I intend my walking mechanism to be like Clawed Hopper, or Gammatron. Regardless of whether that counts as a walker these days, what do you reckon would be needed to power it?
2: Weaponary is a big issue here. I have two ideas here...either a flywheel of some description, or a large overhead spinning bar (a bit like Gammatron). Any thoughts?
3: What would be good protection for keeping robots away? Im currently thinking of a cage, a bit like Tornados, but smaller, just so its difficult to flip over, but Im not sure if that will be easily workable. Any hints? I considered skirts, but I didnt think thatd be practical with the bouncy behaviour.
I know this sounds silly, but Id like to have at least one unusual robot in my team.
Youd just need two motors, I think, one to power each rim...for weaponry, you could go the MDU route and go for an outer shell spinner, but thatd just be MDU :P
Either way, go for something spinny since I cant see it being able to self right very well, and the gyro forces should resist flipping. As for protection, if you had a big spinning thing around the perimeter of your robot thatd be protection enough :proud: but you could incorporate the ability to sit down with a couple linear actuators - your mobility is gone, but youre effectively flipper and rammer proof.
If you really want something unusual, I could always give you Brown Trousers Time - a physics-defying time-warp-creating spinner is pretty unusual by anyones standards :proud:
Actually, youd just need one motor to power it, although the question of how youre going to steer has struck me.
Again, for steering, I plan to use, once more, a Clawed Hopper/Gammatron style of turning. Basically, a little turning mechanism so it can turn on the spot.
Right. And youre aware that all this will leave almost no weight for armour and not be classed as a walker?
Hang on, Im a little confused...since when? And for that matter, what WOULD make it a walker? Maybe if, instead of one big walking mechanism, I had two mini-mechanisms? That would allow it to turn.

I think I said earlier what makes it a walker - it depends on the writer, but you need independent forward/backward and sideways movement on each leg (basically two linear actuators per leg or similar will do it) to qualify under strict rules.
And two mini mechanisms would allow it to turn, but it still wouldnt be a walker - youd get more maneuvrability out of your original steering plate idea.

I think Woody was the one with a good schematic of how a proper walker could work. I just cant seem to find it anymore.
Would the idea AT LEAST be classified as a shuffler? I could work with that.
A shuffler definitaly.

You didnt take this from my retired vapour, did you? Because that looks hauntingly familiar.
http://strickenone.proboards99.com/i...play&thread=22
*looks at Laertes The 2nd* Long lost twins?
And its news to me that SHA2 has a wedge...
It has rear wedges at the back
Oh yeah, those wedges...
Im having a bit of difficulty visualising a tracked axlebot though, did you ever get that picture of Laertes done?
Unfortunately not.
Was Laertes a thwackbot?
Did Laertes have a front wedge?
Did Laertes look even half like Side Swipe?
Besides, I found it in the junkyard, and paid for it. Its mine!!
Although it couldve been Laertes, but only if you threw it away, since I bought it at a junkyard.
Kody, I think maybe you should take Laertes, Ivy, and Avarice out of retirement.
Was Laertes a thwackbot?
It can act like one, so yes.
Did Laertes have a front wedge?
No, but you didnt state one in the shape, and stating one in the ground clearance is wrong.
Did Laertes look even half like Side Swipe?
Duh.
Besides, I found it in the junkyard, and paid for it. Its mine!!
Dont waste your breath on ridiculous comments like that.
Although it couldve been Laertes, but only if you threw it away, since I bought it at a junkyard.
See above.
Kody, I think maybe you should take Laertes, Ivy, and Avarice out of retirement.
No. If I wanted to, I would have, but I do not wish to.
Advice. Take some.
Mark, leave.
Im just curious, but do any of you have some humor?
Im sorry, Joey, and Kody.
Kody:
Laertes the 2nd = Awesome!
Ivy II = Equally Awesome!
Avarice = Odd Looking?

Im just curious, but do any of you have some humor?
Well we would start to have a laugh if you stopped acting like an ass and doing all that stealing s**+. _ Otherwise get out.
And Laertes is the odd-looking one, not Avarice. :P
I have a sense of humour, but I keep it segregated from most of society...already had enough trouble with it.
Question about Side Swipe.
How can it be Barberous 2 shaped, which if I remember correctly is a drum with tracks?
Also with a spinning drum, where are you supposed to put the axe?
Dave, technically, it is divided into 2 drums, but both are powered by the S28-400 Magmotor.
For simpler people, the middle of the drum has a slot, which allows the hammer to stay in place, and not spin like the drum, but also divides the drum into 2 drums.
...then why didnt you say that in the stats?
And not just Laretes has been stolen from, it looks very similar to SHA2 if you ask me
Mark, the instance you start stealing from MY designs, I join with Kody, Liam and everyone else. You have TWO options...mature, or leave.
I am serious, it is entirely from my design.
I can borrow things from some bots, so I just combined Laertes body, SHA2s wedge, and a thwackbot axe. It is a new robot.
You never actually answered my question from before...
Why are you still here?
...and WHERE on your vapourbot are the wedges? :P
@ Liam: Because I want to be, and the mods (thankfully) havent banned me. Perhaps it is because I am improving a bit.
@ Kody: The front part of the tracks.
Cyrilium Jr.
Weight: 50kg
Shape: Hydra (S7), but with a full front wedge.
Colour: Silver
Dimensions: 65cm x 30cm x 20cm
Drive: 4x Bosch drill motors, powered by 4x 24V NiCad battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4 fully Vulkanized rubber wheels
Armour: 7mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy
Speed: 18mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, and 5mm at sides and back.
Turning Circle: 0m, duh.
Weapon 1: a pneumatic axe at 180psi, with a 35mm diameter 300mm stroke ram, that gives me about 250kgs in force. With the Hydra-shaped axehead, it can do some damage.
Weapon 2: an electric lifting arm, powered by a Bosch drill motor, it is usually used for self righting, and can only lift 60kg or less.
Srimech: the lifting arm.
I wish to know weather or not Cyrilium Jr. and Side Swipe have any problems.
You wont fit a pneumatic axe, a lifting arm, four motors and titanium armour that thick in 50kgs.
What would you recomend?
@ Liam: Because I want to be, and the mods (thankfully) havent banned me. Perhaps it is because I am improving a bit.
Why do you want to be? And your not to improving at all, your getting worse
Yes, WHY do you want to be here when clearly everyone hates you? :P
To be fair, he has improved quite a bit. Its just his ability at annoying people seems to have increased exponentially...
