Seriously! Not one can!?
Poor sloth :(
Designed next beetle, its going to be a mini nightmare style with 1 big disc and the 2 wheels out of the side
Had a few hours spare on the mill this afternoon and managed to do the disc its cut from a D2 tool steel offcut

Made bulkheads for Flange last night, did it pretty ghetto on our little manual mill

looking really good Tom, where did you get the valve to go on the co2 cartridge?
The mini nightmare style beetle is coming on quite nicely , managed to get the chassis / disc support done today

Very nice :)
What wheels are they in the background ? I presumme those are Fingertech motors beside them ?
The wheels are the 35mm OD banebots from technobots and the motors are 12v 1000rpm gearbox motors from ebay
thats a damn fine machine you have there!
You guys are churning out beetleweights at a ridiculous rate! Won't be long before you have enough to fill a competition, let alone a battle
And I think 'excessively shiny robots' should be added to the Prohibited Weapons category :uhoh:
In all seriousness though, it looks great. Can't wait to see it churning stuff up.
Do you know what sort of Torque rating those Ebay motors are giving?
I need something a tad more torque-y than the 30:1 MFAs, but I believe the next gearing is 100:1.
Looks awesome btw.
THe torque is pretty good for the size, bear in mind the motors are only 16mm Dia, the mfa's are alot bigger arnt they?
Yeh the motors are 24mm dia.
Isn't 1,000 rpm unusably high without a further reduction? You must be running tiny wheels.
With 280rpm and 75mm wheels Spinza struggles to turn on any sort of un-smooth surface,
Had abit of time after the F1 to get to work and make some parts, these are the mounts that the Outriggers will bolt to

[attachment=0:2ql046lw]IMAG0484.jpg[/attachment:2ql046lw]
the wheels are only 35mm Dia, 1000rpm may be too fast but at this weight limit they have enough torque
how big are peoples BW's?
trying to see if my design will be tiny, massive or about right
With wheels half the size but an RPM almost 4 times on a motor with a smaller diameter to me you may struggle.Quote:

Although on paper it has a top speed of 2.5mph at this scale that's pretty good.
Here's a test drive (Half throttle at start):

The valve is the biggest part!
Looks awesome Tom.
Cheers.
Test video of Flange flipping stuff.

Impressive! You guys are getting a rather nice collection of robots together.
Managed to get abit more done on Cobra, spun it up and tom got some film so i would think he will put it on here tonight

The drive motors couldn't really take the stresses involved and broke, i'm looking into making a stub axle which will take the forces instead of the motor shaft
Ye I got the video ready to upload. When that disk engages it has some seriously crazy force behind it. Still not as good as sloth.
How have you made the pneumatic valve for Flange ? In antweight pneumatics we always have trouble finding valves for the systems, just curious how you made yours.
I can't wait to see some proper beetleweight combat :)
Little Cobra test
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S29_IxCP ... ture=g-u-u
Be-jesus! It's more lethal to itself!
Looks incredibly powerful, how are you guys going about keeping it on its wheels, or at least getting it back there after each hit?
It should only take one hit if Kenny engauges you with that disc you pretty much f@@ked any way It's got a lot of force behind it
Thats a good way of thinking about it Dave :D
But it could go the other way n he could throw him self out of arena but if it has engauged you the damage is not going to be pretty
Ye its got some right force behind it. I wouldnt want my robot getting hit by it. But that wont happen cos its crap and ill just mess it up with sloth. Now thats a robot to worry about, Sloth is one dangerous machine, Its like the honey badger of the robot world, Cos yall know Honey Badger dont give a F##K!
Kinda wish this was twitter right now so I could do #HoneyBadgerDontCare
I thought the arena didn't have an OOTA area?
If it's a polybox Cobra could just keep coming at cha' Cleopatra!
few more pictures of rpm with new titanium armour finished weight 1400 grams40 grams to loose so easy job

designed and made some mounts with a solid axle on bearings that will take the hits rather than the motor shaft for cobra

Cobra doin a test drive. Some pretty cool reverse wheelies

180 doin some sort of crab like sideways shuffle.

Very good :) I'm interested to know how 180 does that sideways bit.
I'll ask again since I didn't get an answer last time; what are you using as a pneumatic valve in the flipper ? Made it or buy it ?
