That dont sound good... anyone have a direct email for any of the banebots guys?
How about contacting the Robot Marketplace support? They would be ordering Banebots stuff frequently and would know if there are supply problems. I always find the RMP replies to be fast and useful.
Good shout Nick ill drop them a message tomorrow
Left a message on the RMP forum inquiring about the status of banebots... hopefully it comes back positive.
Pretty sure this is the same motor with a higher price tag and stickers; http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.ph...FepAMgodvj0AEg
Also robot power make a nice kit with the same motor - but dont advertise the motor sold separately.
Other than that all i found was Chinese companies selling them... ideally would like a more local source.
Which kit is that?
Thought maybe there was a 18v model I was missing.
tbh i wouldn't be surprised if its the same motor.
So I used one of these Traxxas Motor Titan 775 when I modded a GR02. Gimson were selling 5mm ID gears that fitted straight on
http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/thre...ighlight=titan
You would have to mod the pin carriers for sure on the GR02 gearbox
The Magnum 775 looks a nice combo
Pretty sure this is the genuine Mabuchi 18v 775: http://www.adepem.com/PIECES-DETACHEES-119672.html
edit: yeah spec sheet seems a match for the advertised specs on the Banebots website for the RS775-18.
edit2: that French site says it's compatible with this drill: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RYOBI-CHP1...item58984a2d56 - suggesting it might be a source of the right motor and the gearboxes could be put back on sale or butchered for the good bits?
look slightly different to the banebots ones... these seem pretty close too;

can you choose an option for that site to display in english btw
If you're on Chrome, right click>translate to English. Other browsers probably the same.
4.7A nominal load. Not a patch on even an el cheapo drill.
sorry wrong link;

Tim did some maths.. apparently will give around 22% higher speed and pull less amps than the rs775.
Think those motors above could still be mated to the same Ryobi gearboxes?
Why would i want to do that?
Anyone got a good source for 5mm ID pinion gears? I know Chris mentioned he got his from Gimson but it doesn't seem he does them anymore.
Drilling out a standard batterydrill pinion ain't an easy job. Pure hardmetal cutters are the least you need, and then the chances of succes are limited. The aussie forum has quite a few threads on that.
I myself prefer to make gearboxes with standard, affordable mod 1 gears.
The pinion I prefer is the steel Z12 Mod 1. You can buy those easy enough over the net.
I use a straight flute solid carbide drill for enlarging pinion bores and it works extremely well. I can find some links if anyone wants to try them.
Nick, PM me those links, thank You.
I can see holding the gear being the biggest issue.
I don't think its possible to drill them unless its clamped in a vice on a proper pillar drill or a lathe...with lots of coolant.
The material is probably cast, its very hard and gets hot quickly. I cracked two pinions while drilling them on a lathe with a Co twist drill. Used a spade drill and reamer for the third gear...it worked
I plan on just re using my banebots gears...
The easiest way to get the gears would be to buy some gear stock the right size, part off a load of them, get em hardened and sell them.
Here is how you drill out the gears:

I use an ER-32 collet chuck to hold the gears in my Seig lathe. The carbide drill cuts thru them like butter and I just used a little WD-40 as lube & coolant.
That's what I would do too nick.
Just received some 775s from banebots. They appear to have slightly different cases to the originals, but will check all dims out and report.
Nice one ed- when did you order them?
About a week after the champs.
Good news is that my parcel its on its way from banebots- so its looking promising that there still in buisness...i've also ordered some slightly different wheels to try as im getting bored of having to clean them after every fight.
Bad news is that according to the tracking info from USPS i'm being sent a bill from customs lol
No idea where my robotmarketplace order is though...didn't get any tracking info from them....
oh yeah... and as for an update... 720 is going back to its 2013 spec/complete spare robot as there's no rules against it and new 720 known as 722 will take its place next year :)
Haha! I knew the two robot thing would catch on :)
And to think I felt like a flash git for having a spare bar lol
Also, two 720's would make an awesome 60lb clusterbot :)
720 as a spare robot? That's like the empire calling the Death star there spare super space station
Haha was beginning to catch on to this. If you read a lot of things folk are going with a couple of robots.
Alex, add an aditional one to your order to cover the one i had and ill send you the cash for it.
Banebots are alive!
My order arrived... kinda wish id put more on the order now, only really made it to see if they were actually still trading...otherwise i would of bought more;
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...pslzn8wese.jpg
Also the RS775 motors have changed in appearance for those interested... below is the old one on the left, compared to the new one on the right... bigger vents... and it looks pretty similar to some of the ones i saw online;
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...pswi5bgekh.jpg
That motor design is the same as the ones I ordered back in February, who's copying who now? ;)
(I kid, I kid).
Just wish their 125mm hex hub wheels would be in stock. Gonna resort to making my own wheels/hubs, with replaceable tyres, at this rate.
