Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
Surely you shouldn't be using push fits if it's at full pressure?
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
After the valve isnt pressurised
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
Did you custom build the cylinder or is it a off the shelf part? Looks custom but I may be wrong
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
Ye its custom, its a mini version of the Flow and Diablo rams
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
Sorry I'm probably being stupid but isn't it all pressurised when the ram is fired? Or is it that it's only pressurised for a short amount of time so it's ok?
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
Ye there is a vent hole (exaust) in bottom of ram so it vents before it reaches high pressure, this was only for testing high pressure ones will be used on final build. we do not recommend using 10bar fittings on a system like this as they can still blow

Here is a photo I took last night, Its a crappy photo but it just shows a bit of size differance

Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
what valve are you using Kenny?
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
The pneumatic setup isn't mine, its dave / toms
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
ahh right, sorry Kenny, Tom/Dave what valve are you using?
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
Gravy valve. For pressurised gravy pumps.

Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
That's one of the problems I came across, given up on the flipper for a while. Want to finish the other beetle rocky which I think will be more effective, and far simpler. Will probably finish the flipper sometime in the future, but in the mean time it would be nice to see how yours goes!

At Kennys getting the body for The Gimp (my full body spinner) machined.
Here is the billet

What is it with you and taking a massive piece of metal and machining away 95% of it?

Looking smexy, love the radioactive symbol milled into it. You guys planning on having these ready for the Robo Challenge open day?

Hopefully they should be ready.

Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
What material is that? How are you attaching the spinning element to the rest of Gimp?
I need to get a blade sorted for Spinza.

Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
could do with a few more lipos
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
Still got room for more lipos lol. I was suprised it drives really well. Dave wired it up today. Just looking for a different brushless setup at the moment. Somthing with a lower profile motor than it has, and less KV. Would love to see a few more people building them and posting pics.
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
mine is no futher than random motors and a couple of lipos atm. still designing it.
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
I have the design of mine but I used the motors for my ant arena effects, need to get some more.
I'm also not sure if I can get my design in the weight:
1mm Ti base plate
1mm Carbon fibre top
1.2mm Ti front
10mm HDPE bulkheads (held in with Ali angle)
1 x 1300mAh 11.1v battery
1 x sabretooth 5A
2x MFA 100:1 motors
1 x 12T gear and 1 x 24T gear (possibly, may be less)
And the clincher
1 x speedo 900 replica for my weapon
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
I can see the S900 replica screwing you for weight there Dave.
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
I'm not so sure. I reckon it'll be the 1mm carbon fibre top that'll take it way over the weight limit.
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
be nice to see some non spinners.
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
My mini Turb flipper (well, electric lifter) is still sitting in need of some TLC. Been lacking motivation with it as the armour's a bit fiddly, but should just need some attention over a weekend to get it done. Maybe this weekend coming now that I've finished on Cicatrix.
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
Rocky needs a new body, and I'm also cutting a new blade. After that, all I need is the pully, and bearings. And how are you going to fit the s 900 in? They weight loads, im using a motor a 3rd of the size and it still looks big!
-
Re: UK Kilobots - 1.362kg (3 lbs) Combat Robots
What weight are people building to? I remember reading a long whilke back that people could not decide to go with a straight kilo or the 1.36kg of the US. Was a decision ever reached?
