Re: Wooden Robot Class
Johnny 2x4 is in one piece, just! The wheels were at weird angles by the end of the day. LS4 also very nearly did the battery in so I need another one of them. The speed controller isn't looking steller, either.
I'll rebuild him eventually, in an ideal world he'd be ready for Aylesbury but I severely doubt it. might even put a wedge on him so he might be able to push something!
One concern I have though, is will Bitzawood be able to run anywhere now? AFAIK there aren't any FW spinner events for a good while now and I don't remember seeing circular saws getting the green light. Unless we all go over to MMM. :P

Re: Wooden Robot Class
The next spinning event will be MMM, unless RoboChallenge host something between now and next years champs.
As for circular saw blades, James and Grant seemed keen to test them out, which is one of the main reasons I built BitzaWood, just couldn't make it over to the Fleet event and couldn't get it running at the GSL.
I guess we'll have to see what events come up. I've heard quite a few UK peeps are pretty keen on heading over to MMM.

Well, if the mountain won't come to Mohammed...

Re: Wooden Robot Class
I like to ask what are those gold things in the bulkheads?

Re: Wooden Robot Class
On which robot?
Did you not manage to make it to the GSL with Mr Pink in the end then? I was looking forward to seeing it, always said we should make a FW La Machine.

Re: Wooden Robot Class
BizaWood I believe if that's the one with the saw blades.
No there was a place for Mr. Pink but, I lost my Sat Nav, I needed it to give me some guidance.
Right now I'm kicking myself but there are still more event this year.
I just wish I had gone to this one as my first.

Re: Wooden Robot Class
Yeh that's BitzaWood.
They're threaded inserts. You just pilot an 8mm hole, crank in with an Alen Key, et voila! Instant M5 thread to bolt to.
I got the idea from the Gimson drive units, except those require a press since the inserts go into Nylon.
Shame about not making it, I've been nagging RoboChallenge about hosting an event August/September time so in the middle of the year, but I think some of the UK guys are going over to Mad Metal Machines in Germany in September since they run a Full-Combat FW event.

Re: Wooden Robot Class
Are those the ones with a threaded outside to them as well as a threaded inside? We're did you get them as I tried and could only find places to buy several hundred of them!
FYI I put threaded inserts into hdpe by just clamping them in with a vice rather than a press.

Re: Wooden Robot Class
So who's making a robot for MMM this September?
Hopefully BitzaWood will be working by then......
