Looking good dude!
Cheers Dave. Got a few more bits done today, got the rest of the chassis bars in to strengthen it up, mounting point for Wotty, mounted ram, and started to mount buffers. Hopefully all the internals will be mounted by the weekend, will the strip it down, weld everything up, and start armour fixings.
Main buffers and tank fitted.

Yep thats a much better solution for the buffer problem. Looking good Alan
Gives more room for the pipes coming out the front. For now i'll have a pipe from each tank feed each valve, if i have trouble with freezing i'll feed them off one tank and send the feed through the other, like i was originally going to do. Got wooty mounted and the bungee mounts. Just ned to rebuild the batteries into brick backs, and make the holders. Also need to make burkert/ram manifold and put extra ports on one of the buffers, then the internals are basically done. Then a case of modifying the old armour, and make whatever new bits.
Had abit of a break from Kronic, started on Omegas Snow Plow. Plan is to be able to lift it by a actuator.

Kronic is looking good now Alan, same layout as toxic inside ! with an extra co2 bottle at back I may well do that next year.
Cheers Terry, got abit more done. Made the wire looms, fitted side and front armour, mounted electrics. Got to somehow cut and bend the base plate now.

Got all the armour cut and fixings in place, just need to bend some of it now somehow. Everything is mounted, next step is to strip it all down, do any finishing work, and paint it then put it all back together. Only other thing left is the pneumatics, need to get pipes made up and manifold for valves.

whats the armour ???
The older stuff is Hardox, the new stuff is just 3mm Ali (which is what it had before), will see what weight i have left when finished to beef up the top panels.
Looking good !!
Nice Job Al
Paint time, the Blue is Back!

looking very nice :)
Put Kronic together ready for Snisbston, will have to be stripped backed down as theres still some work to be done after ready for Dublin.

Looks very good!
Alan, Kronic looks as good as new in those photos :) You coming to Barnsley in February?
Might be at Barnsley, not sure with it being the week before Whitwick.
Started on a new base for the mechanoid, the old King B chassis is abit too powerful for it and the 4WD creates too much load and lacks agility.

whats happening with king b then?
looks loads better, this is the type of build im starting in a few weeks.
Well back from Dublin where Kronic got to the final. Very pleased with the improvements, its drives so much better and having the angled back allows it to drive off wedges etc. First fight the ram moved, turns out i had forgot to put the nuts on 2 of the bolts holding the ram down! Second fight the burkerts got stuck open due to swarf out of the buffers getting in. The 3rd fight was gainst UFO in the first round of the competition, where it went through easily (UFOs valve has been playing up), 2nd round against Big Bro where I flipped him aorund the arena until he got stuck. Semi-Final against IA6, this has to be one of the closest and exciting fights, with the most flips ever in a single fight! Kronic got the win from the judges, but could of gone either way. The final was against a in form Ripper, Ripper won on a Judges decision, another good fight with each robot having their moments on top, I'll have you next time Jonno! The last fight was the top 4 ( Ripper, Beast (Much improved), IA6 and Kronic) but with all the drivers swapping, another great fight, one of the gearboxes broke in the near the end (thats what happens when you let Mr Lear near your transmitter!).
So overall very pleased with the results, just need to fix the gearbox and its ready for the next event.
Managed to get the mechanoid base running as well, but didn't drive as well as i hope, just needs weight moving forward. Only got a couple of runs with it as i was fighting in 16 of the 19 shows!
Didnt manage to get any pics of videos, but i think others got them, so i'll link them when they apppear.
Well Kronics done 3 events now, and got to the final in each one, not bad going! It currently weighs 93kg, so abit of weight for added top armour. Few other things that need sorting are the drive axles, as they seem to be bending so need a stronger material, also had an issues with the pneumatics at Whitwick, if it turns out to be the Burkerts i might pull them out and put a ball valve in (probably 3/4) if it was something else causing it, i will probably just add a 3rd inlet Burkert with an extra buffer. Other than that, really happy with it.
After Kronics sorted, i will start on building one of two new heavies. The first will be a heavyweight version of 'Lola' (don't ask!), i might try to do a detailed build video diary on it. After that i will throw together a LP flipper.
Think I might change to a ball valve, i would prefer to operate it by electric solonoid instead of a lp ram.
Still not decided yet what to do with the valves, will have a look this week to see what happened at Whitwick. Don't know if i can be bothered with the hassel of ball valves.
The new Knightmare is underway, its based on our featherweight kit. Not built for competition, just for abit of fun and for the smaller shows we do. Few pics, more are posted on our Facebook page, as its too much hassle trying to get pics on here;

 Nice one
abit more done

Hi Alan,
Just a couple of questions. What speed controllers are you running in the machine. Will it be ready for Scotland and are those pneumatic tyres?
In other words, if it's ready for Scotland, Big Nipper's claws are going through your tyres
Currently running a pair of 4QD NCC70s, really could do with something better, but the idea is that it will use Kronics Wotty360 at the expo events, but at events where Kronics running then it will have to be on the 4QDs. If it all works ok then maybe upgrade it at some point in the future.
It will be at Scotland, the wheels are pneumatic, but will get them filled with something but don't know if that will be done for Scotland, in which case it won't be going in with nipper!
Hi Alan
Looking good nice to see another O/H thwack robot.
Just a couple of questions what ratio will the final drive be, and are you using Bosch 750 motors with this?
Yeah it bosch drive, think the ratio is about 16:1 on 16inch wheels.
Cor it's took me ages to find this thread! Anyway a few quick updates;
The heavyweight I started last year (build above) will be finished off in the next few months, had to put it aside last year due to building Goliath. Plan is to get it finished and then probably will be selling it as it doesn't fit in my plans for this year, so if anybodies interested give me a shout.
Kronic: Has had a good year so far, having a few changes for the Euro Champs, moving to Lipo batteries as the current NiCads are very old and not up to it any more. The weight gain will go into some armour upgrades (the lids already got upgraded to 3.2mm Hardox at the end of last year). Also might try and squeeze an extra valve in there for abit more flip :P
Merlin: Is still going, and although not seen at the big shows, still does more fights than most in the UK at our demo events. A few maintenance things to do but overall it will stay the same.
Plans for the future is to probably build another heavyweight at the beginning of winter, based on our featherweight Ratchet. Also plan to get a new competitive feather done at some point.
Will start posting pics when I go back onto the heavyweight in a couple of weeks, a few finishing bits to do on Goliath before then...
One already exists it's called bigger brother.Quote:

it will have a fair few differences, but bigger brother is the most agile robot I have ever driven, Ratchet is nearly as good even with Electronize in!
Well, was going to give you an update but just read over my post from June, and everythings pretty much the same as then, busy with other stuff last year meant didn't get much dont on the robots themselves.
Kronic: Switched to Lipos for the Euros last year, which has gave me abit more weight to play with. Upgrades for this year include changing the gearing (was going to be done for Dublin, but RS decided to only send me one gear), and a few tweaks to the pneumatics.
Merlin: Will probably go Lipo at some point this year, Nicads are knocking on abit and they get alot of abuse. Other than that not much can be done to it, still runs reliably, just not competitive anymore (current chassis is 8years old).
UFO: Will probably get phased out this year, getting very old and becoming trouble to maintain. Maybe build a newer version at some point.
Goliath: Made his introduction last year, i purposely kept him quiet and out of the way for a lot of the fights until we're confident of the reliability, can't have him breaking down in the middle of the arena! Hoping to make a few upgrades this year, change the gearing abit, he's actually faster then most of you ever see him, don't really need the speed so will gear it down abit more for efficiency. Would like to do a few upgrades to the weapons as well.
Others: The heavyweight axle bot is still in the same state, hope to get it running after this run of events are out of the way, and then move onto building the big Ratchet. Plans are underway to build a new G3, got a better pneumatics system for it now, may be done for GSL 2015! :D
2013 was a busy year for us, so the robots themselves took a back foot, although this years looking to be even busier, so all what i've said above probably won't happen!
stop talking- start making something you mong
