Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Well if that fight has taught me one thing, it's that Harraz isn't REALLY well designed for melees/flippers, but can sort of hold it's own albeit not too well. Next battle will therfore be a fun one :lame: Great battles by the way Kody, looking forward to the next round quiet a bit.
Mobile Failure 2.5 vs. Empty Inside
This is an interesting fight. To have been honest, Mobile Failure is the machine I would've prefered to fight, but you can what you get :proud:
In my opinion, Empty Inside does stand a pretty good chance of getting underneath the sides/rear of MF, and if it does, I see an upset here. If not...well I predict Lian's machine to get it's head smashed in.
Wedga Eenea vs. Harraz
As you are possibly aware :lame: that ight demonstrated that my lifter isn't able to effectively handle high-powered flippers with the most effecient of ease. However, now we're fighting one on one, I think I stand a bit more chance.
One thing that's gone in my favour is both the pure traction/power Harraz can utilize makes it essentially like the vapourbot form of Tornado - although with the speed of Storm 2, kinda like a Hurricane :lame: - so I think I stand quite a decent chance of shoving Wedga around easily.
Whilst he is 4mph slower and therefore may have better control, I can still get to his sides, which is where I can use one thing that gives me an advantage: the shape of Wedga is actually quite boxy, talking about the base area around the bottom. I got hold of the slanted Iron Awe fairly easily so I should be fine getting a hold of him, especially with a flat front I can keep him in-front of me and shove him about.
I won't open the pit until the last minute of the bout; I don't want to give Wedga too many ways of disposing me :talker: plus I'll need to get in damage points by house robot shunting, as this another advantage I have :proud: Wedga can only do powerful, launching attacks while I can be controlled in my overturning. When shoving him into the hazards - disc of DEATH, house robots etc - overturn him so they can attack his baseplate to cause catastrophic damage, and hopefully allow me to win :proud:
All that lengthy discussion over tactics summed up  House robot shoving loving, don't open the pit till last minute as a last resort, and avoid Wedga getting under me at the edge of the ring...or at all :lame:
Good luck Andy, and go Kody for writing so awesomely :proud:

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Would being the vapourbot Tornado with the speed of Storm 2 and a lifter not make you, erm, the vapourbot Storm 2?
-
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
*takes a second to think of an answer*...dammit :proud:
Well in that case it's like Storm 2, but with Tornado's wheels/level of traction and shape, plus a bit more power. As I said, kinda like a Hurricane - a mix between a Storm and a Tornado - which would've made quite an epic name come to think of it lol :proud:

Mobile Failure 2.5 vs. Empty Inside

ACTIVATE!
It seems both robots are after the other's blood, for they scream straight at each other, but it's Empty Inside who gets under; Mobile Failure has no chance to axe its opponent before a burst of CO2 from the flipper sends it over! Empty Inside drives towards its opponent as she self-rights, and though late to get under before Mobile Failure is back on its wheels, still manages to get under the Canadian axebot's front hinged wedge, and pushes forward. However Mobile Failure shows its ability to put its power down to the ground and accelerates off of the flipper. Tracy is at a bit of a disadvantage here because of Lian's manoeuvrability, and it's really showing in close-quarters because Mobile Failure cannot turn and get away in time, and is flipped over again! It's a worrisome day for Team Alt, but Lian is quite happy and, intercepting the Failure before it can self-right, drives Mobile Failure off towards King Leer's CPZ, where the big guy greets Mobile Failure with a hail of blows from the crescents. The polycarb isn't doing so well...hold on! It's been dented around a wheel, which is definitely not spinning now like the others! The repeated blows stack up, is the axebot living up to its name? Aware of the time limit, King Leer backs off, and Empty Inside...flips it straight back into King Leer, where Mobile Failure is caught on the front of the wedge. More blows happen, and Empty Inside goes to open the pit. King Leer's current blows, as menacing as they may seem, aren't doing too much to the titanium/vanadium, no sirree, but the bottom panel damage has been done! Leer shunts Failure away and waits for it to move...and Mobile Failure is away, but now on an angle, so the wheel is still jammed! Lian now drives back in, and looks to get around Mobile Failure this time. The damage Tracy's bot sustained recently makes this far easier and the Achilles clone manages to get to the side, under the skirt, and tosses Mobile Failure onto its back again, but Tracy still has the fighting spirit as the axe rights it immediately! It can't seem to get away from the Bloodmage robot though and sustains another flip from the corner! This time Tracy can't self-right quick enough and is wedged by Empty Inside, who drives straight towards the pit! Despite the attempts to drive off and the constant flailing of the axe, a comeback is deemed impossible as Empty Inside pits Mobile Failure and...throws itself in too! :proud:
CEASE!
A rather lop-sided affair, as Mobile Failure 2.5 never really got mobile and ended up failing in the pit!
Empty Inside advances to the Annihilator Final!

Wedga Ennea vs. Harraz
Roboteers, stand by...
Mr. Psycho with the claw and hammer, and Sir Killalot with his claw and lance, await the destruction!

ACTIVATE!
A cagey start from Harraz, as it turns on the spot on the ACTIVATE call, and moves around. Wedga has flown out of its own spot in a hurry, and seemingly wants this over with now! Harraz turns accordingly, and what happens is the quirky bots are nose to nose, literally! Winning the pushing match however is Harraz, and none too cagey is the shove into the arena wall that allows Harraz under the flipper of Wedga! Hurriedly the lifter thrusts up and topples Wedga against the arena wall, but to Paul's chagrin, the flipper flicks Wedga off the wall and off the back of Harraz! But it's Paul who's still in command as he backs into Wedga's own rear, and the skirt gets under Wedga. With another extended running start Harraz reverses all the way across the arena and slams Wedga against the wall opposite! Wedga rides the momentum off the wall and lands off to the side, but is still perched slightly on the side skirt of Harraz. Paul turns accordingly, but this makes Wedga fall off the skirt. However, Harraz is still in time to get under Wedga again before the Team ??? robot can manoeuvre away, and this time manages to get Wedga into an empty CPZ. Smelling blood, Mr. Psycho and Sir Killalot slowly exit their own CPZs as Harraz lifts Wedga up onto his side against the corner, and tries to pin him. Noticing the approaching Sir Killalot, Harraz turns aside, but is too slow as he is shoved against the pinned Wedga by Sir Killalot, now pinned himself, and Mr. Psycho's right outside the CPZ! As Harraz tries to squeeze away, the claw of our Knight of the realm grasps the side skirt and crunches into it, lifting Harraz up into the air! Wedga fires its flipper against the wall, but only succeeds in forcing himself into the corner! As the flipper lowers, Wedga falls onto his back against the wall...another flip is rendered moot as he just falls backwards again...but this may be one of the few times a competitor is lucky to be in a CPZ; Mr. Psycho's claw comes down and picks Wedga off the ground! That would have been a ghastly fail for Andy, had the house robot left him there! What is now happening, however, is a house robot display, a display of power, that is! And Psycho and Killalot are feeling particularly dominant! Killalot hauls Harraz over to the arena saws...and though there is lack of any lasting harm, the blinding sparks surely delight the audience! :proud: Wedga meanwhile is being given a taste of the flame pit...that won't do too much, hopefully, but because the robot is so compact, components might get hotter quicker! Several seconds of house robot fun encompass the two helpless competitors...then Mr. Psycho's claw raises, up...up...up...and opens, sending Wedga plummeting to the ground onto its flipper! It's not that great of a fall, but Mr. Psycho turns a bit and brings the hammer down before Wedga can try and right itself, landing a solid blow on the underside! But the monocoque holds up fairly well, and the resulting toss over from Wedga, righting it, clearly displays a lack of weakness! Concurrently, Sir Killalot has viewed 15 seconds worth of the bright white fragments of light, and now spins about with the claw raised, whirling Harraz around before letting go and sending the Team Insanity robot sprawling across the floor where the arena spike pops Harraz, but doesn't quite manage to turn it over! Paul guides his robot off the hazard, as Wedga seeks the middle of the arena.
The makings of a real battle are forming again as the house robots return to their CPZs, content, and the plucky competitors are sizing each other up as before! Paul decides to return to his previous tactics and moves away from Wedga, who just races straight at him...have we gone approximately a minute and a half back in time, folks? It's like the start of the match all over again! :proud: Only this time, the outcome is far different and Wedga successfully sneaks past the lifter and underneath Harraz! Panicking, Paul tries to back off...not a chance! An absolutely massive toss results from Andy pressing the flipper button, and amid a cloud of CO2 Harraz lands a perfect 540, on his back! None too pleased about this, Paul tries to self-right on the spot, but here comes Wedga! None too soon does the lifter raise Harraz off the ground, though, as Wedga barges in a fraction of a second too late and the charges merely shoves Harraz aside, sending Wedga off-course! Wedga twirls, but Harraz manages to self-right successfully! Not as successful however is the attempt to escape, as Wedga crashes into the side of Harraz as it tries to get away, and the skirt is penetrated! Rather than an immediate assault, Wedga takes Harraz to the wall...oh how dreadful! The toss was almost exactly terminal, and Harraz crashes directly down onto the upraised flipper of Wedga, forcibly closing it! Wedga flips him again, but the same result occurs...with an altered end as Harraz slides off the back! On his wheels now, Harraz spins about quicker and gets the lifter under Wedga before Andy can do anything about it, and turns Wedga over! Wedga immediately self-rights, but only onto the lifter to be tipped over again! With his rear to the wall again and nowhere near a CPZ, Wedga is in dire straits! Another flick pushes him further into the wall...and bounces onto his arse, then onto the flipper! There's some space to self-right now, but Harraz is already there and shoves Wedga back into the wall...but Wedga fires the flipper just as Harraz comes into contact with him! ...oh dear!!! That was horrible!!! Wedga Ennea has effectively thrown itself out of the arena!!! It appears both drivers are confused to the result...Andy shakes his head after a while and accepts it, but Paul is in hysterics! :proud: Harraz moves on!
CEASE!
High to the nines went Wedga Ennea, but the landing was a -3! :proud:

Exertion II vs. Liar 2 vs. Blast vs. Eye of Ran II
Andy's in Barcelona, but I would rather not fight him so I'll see if I can go with a team up here. :) Generally, go for the usual EoR II tactics - spin up, avoid weapons, kill Liar 2 and Blast in that order.
It's not pretty, but it works XD best of luck everyone!

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Heat C
Melee 1
Exertion II vs. Liar 2 vs. Blast vs. Eye of Ran II
From Shrewsbury in Shropshire...Exertion !!
(created by Andrew Jackson)
Very compact design with 1cm thick Ti/V armour, a front lifting wedge and rear ramming spikes, he's a tough nut to crack, and possibly too thin to even be stacked on his side. Despite this, he's got no real damaging weaponry.
From Enschede in the Netherlands...Liar 2!
(created by Martijn Benschop)
A 2WD wedge with a nearly full-body flipper and thwacking spikes situated on either side of the flipper. Constructed from Hardox (as are the wheels), but as above, won't do much real damage, and control could be an issue.
From Orpington in Kent...Blast!
(created by Paul Cuomo)
A boxy robot with angled sides and rear (inverse), and a full-pressure flipper at 750psi, able to toss quite much into the air and self-right with that flipper. Armoured well, but it's not the best pusher.
From Pontefract...Eye of Ran II!
(created by Joey McConnell)
Presenting a T-shaped competitor with a 30kg undercutting blade at the front of the robot (the wider end) about 5mm off the ground. The main polycarb is protected at the top and rear by Hardox, and it's mildly nippy, but it won't turn as fast as other 2WD bots with that large weapon spinning.

ACTIVATE!
It begins with Blast immediately making a gang-way for Liar 2, and Eye of Ran II following with its blade spinning up quickly! However, Exertion II intercepts seemingly ALL competitors, getting straight under Liar 2 and shoving him into Blast diagonally, thereupon getting under Blast as well and shoving him into Eye of Ran! The skirt takes a fully-spun-up hit and is slightly crumpled, but that won't be bothering Paul too much. Liar 2, now behind Exertion, now gets under Exertion and lets fly with a massive flip, sending Exertion...goodness me, about 10 feet into the air! With a clatter Exertion comes crashing down onto one of the arena spikes, which pops him up and flips him again! As Andy struggles to find which way up he is, Liar tackles Blast this time, but fails to get underneath the undamaged skirt. Blast, however, turns and gets underneath Liar, and with the scoop angled such, Paul finds that he is in greater control than he thought; Liar is overturned simply by the angle of the scoop and the speed of the push, as well as having the front spikes of Liar hitting the ground! And this happens repeatedly, without Blast having to use his flipper once! As such, Blast manages to get Liar over to Cassius Chrome's CPZ, and throw him into the house robot! Cassius Chrome isn't too thrilled about having 100kg of Hardox wedge jostled into him, and repels Liar with the punching fists, obviously not too much damage, but Blast moves aside to make way for the incoming Eye of Ran II, who'd been following! Cassius Chrome moves away, but before Martijn can follow suit, Joey steers his robot blade-first into one of the wheels! 6mm of Hardox, however, is definitely enough to withstand that and Liar is sent flying away with no apparent injury! Sensing a slowed down opponent, Exertion flies straight in and wedges Eye of Ran on an angle, right between the front and sides, and shoves him across the arena! Unfortunately Andy is unable to fully get Eye of Ran onto its back with the lifter, as its range signifies, but is content with throwing Eye of Ran into the arena wall at high speed, who bounces away to side! Realizing his team-up plans are not quite working out and that his attacker is too close to get away from, Eye of Ran spins up its blade and approaches Exertion, who simply rams straight towards him! Joey tries to deke him out and try hitting the side, but Andy keeps Exertion's front straight against the direction of EoR's blade, and there is a colossal CRASH!!! Blade meets wedge and Eye of Ran is popped into the air, but Exertion stays where he is, mainly due to his lifting wedge's ridiculously low angle! The 5mm Hardox on it appears little more than scratched, and the team from Shropshire are grinning now, as Exertion gets under the T-shaped bot and throw it into the wall again! Joey isn't enjoying this one bit...
Meanwhile, Liar and Blast have been squaring off and it's really gone in the favour of Blast, as Liar keeps failing to get the flipper under Blast, while Blast keeps getting under the spikes and is throwing Liar all over the place! After a particularly nasty slam against one of the Discs of Death, which slightly dents the rear of Liar 2, Blast powers Liar across the arena yet again! This time though the cards don't read in his favour, as Liar flips itself away and Blast powers by, vulnerable! Liar manages to sneak the flipper under Blast's turning scoop for the first time this match, gets further under, and lets fly with a massive flip, propelling Blast far through the air and landing upside-down after bouncing end on end across the arena, almost like a Slinky! :proud: Blast however self-rights quickly with a CO2 snort, and goodness me the self-right was magnificent as well, a true 540 degree over-overturn, quite the overturn overture! :proud: Paul's complacance is short-lived, however, because Liar is on his case again. Blast moves forward at him again, but Liar moves about and slams one of the spikes into the side of Blast's scoop, thwackbot-style as ever. Blast is thrown aside and this lets Liar come in again, but before he can do so, Exertion makes an appearance by shoving Eye of Ran straight into him! Saved by the distraction, Blast turns again and gets under one of Liar's thwacking spikes, and powers under the Dutch flipper, and activates his own flipper on his opponent...goodness me, what height! The stats must have lied, for Liar flew quite higher than 5 feet! A maddened Exertion isn't letting anybody go, though, as he now shoves under Blast, under one of the skirts, and lifts him over with another great SMASH into the arena wall! Eye of Ran, finally free of the bricky lifter, spins his blade up and heads for Liar 2 as per his plan. Martijn however isn't concerned about Joey and is looking for some sweet revenge against Paul, as Blast self-rights stylishly again. Exertion penetrates the damaged skirt and starts to lift Blast over again, presenting Liar with the perfect opportunity! Quickly Martijn heads over, but Joey is quite close and Eye of Ran intercepts Liar with a gargantuan CRASH against the previously hit wheel! Liar gets pounded against the wall and Eye of Ran turns about to protect his blade,...well Martijn isn't going to let THAT go! Liar rams straight into Eye of Ran, the hit wheel still fine, and sneaks the flipper in. Joey pushes forward to try and ward away the flipper, but Liar spins the other way and thwacks the side of Eye of Ran...and is in for a shock as the thwack has penetrated the polycarb! It's not too deep, but the spike is slightly embedded in the side armour of Eye of Ran, and that's absolutely no good for Joey! Liar now begins to drag Eye of Ran backwards, as further away Blast has been flipped over and against the wall side-on. Exertion now tries to lift him OOTA, but the flipper saves Blast once again as it rights the Team Insanity robot at the side of Exertion, but with the rear pointed at Exertion!
Paul is quick to get away, though, and seeing his preferred opponents stuck together flies straight after them, but somewhat cautiously as Eye of Ran's undercutting blade is definitely going at maximum velocity...Joey tries to turn and hit Blast, and Martijn seeing this turns his machine accordingly...this dislodges the two instantly and sends Eye of Ran directly into the incoming scoop of Blast...CRASH!!! What an absolutely massive display as sparks fly, and both Eye of Ran and Blast fly across the arena in opposite directions! Exertion is quick on the uptake and goes after Blast, getting straight under the damaged skirt and quickly lifting the flipper onto its back yet again! Liar is after Eye of Ran obviously, and Joey turns the machine around to thwart this. Martijn goes for another thwack, but Joey drives off before the thwack connects, and now the blade is at full speed again! In comes Liar though to stall it, and tries another thwack. Joey turns, but the thwack rides up the rear wedge and hits the polycarb again, but this time not penetrating the 5mm thick plastic due to losing some force upon hitting the wedge. However Joey is too late to bring the blade into play as Liar backs off and goes off to attack the others. Blast meanwhile has righted itself, but being shoved again by Exertion has been hit by the Disc of Death again and now we can see some slight damage to the actual side, above the skirt, but it's not enough to immobile the robot and Blast gets away...only to run straight into Liar 2! However Blast runs straight underneath the flipper and past it, leaving Liar prime position to be rammed by Exertion and leading Blast to ram straight into Eye of Ran's dangerous blade! However these hits are just not enough to do any damage to that 10mm Hardox scoop and though both robots get flung away again, Blast proves its durability by ramming straight into Liar and Exertion, getting under the latter and shoving both robots into an empty CPZ! Cassius Chrome is away again like a flash, and Eye of Ran has to dodge the house robot as it flies past him and into the rear of Blast, getting under him and punching him! Damocles is also away...Eye of Ran gingerly approaches the CPZ and awaits the first robot to escape it...it's Liar 2, falling off of Exertion on top of Blast, and Joey manages to get a direct hit on the side of the wedge, sending Liar spinning back into the CPZ! Liar however now has the nose directly pointed at Eye of Ran and rampages out before Eye of Ran can protect the blade! Liar powers under and with a beautiful toss sends Eye of Ran high into the air, who crashes down rather sickeningly...and unfortunately for Joey it's the wrong way up! It begins to spin up again, and make like a tree and leaf, but Liar is straight after him and gets under rather easily this time, and carries Eye of Ran to the wall...and utterly fails, for the resulting catapult sends Eye of Ran spinning like a VERY oddly shaped coin, landing off the railing and back into the arena, right side up!
Back in the CPZ Exertion isn't faring well, and Paul tries to OOTA him, but the scoop part of his flipper is pinned in the corner by Cassius Chorme, and moreso due to the fact that Cassius Chrome got under him and is punching him to death! Damocles is now perilously near, and Cassius Chrome backs off - any chance of flipping Exertion OOTA now is dashed as Exertion is now directly on top of Blast. Blast tries to turn around and imitate Vertigo's infamous reverse OOTA, but Damocles intercepts with a massive drumshot to the side of the scoop, forcibly lifting the flipper off the ground and then striking Blast's front end, sending him toppling over! Exertion, now free, gets the bloody hell out of the CPZ as Damocles moves in for more punishment and slashes Blast with the rear drum, but the armour stands up enough to the blow that it doesn't do Blast any internal harm. There are, however, several slashes in the armour now and Blast needs to self-right again...and it does so, finally free of the CPZ and of Damocles...and meanwhile Exertion's managed to ram into Eye of Ran and lift it up, then throw it against an arena wall again, but Liar is after Exertion and getting under from the back flicks him high into the air. Though Exertion lands rather heavily, he seems to be doing just fine inside and turns upon his attacker this time. Dodging by the thwacks, Exertion gets directly to the side and lifts Liar over, but with the lifter up manages to drive up against the side of Liar after Liar is flipped. Liar getting the hint turns with a rather weak thwack to Exertion's top armour as Exertion falls off, then quickly gets underneath Exertion, but Blast crashes the party by tackling the wheel of Liar, sending the Dutch flipping keeling! It activates its flipper anyway, and Exertion is hoisted up and away again! With another ground collision that Exertion shakes off rather well, Andy targets Blast next and rams into it, but forgets that a fully spun-up Eye of Ran is there and Joey, with Exertion completely blocking the way towards his preferred targets, slams the blade into Exertion and sends him spinning away, Joey apologizing to Andy in his control booth. Andy smirks, and Exertion, quite unhurt thank you very much, immediately goes straight at Eye of Ran, who tries to dodge now and go after Liar. Exertion barely misses his charge and now has a wedge pointed at him for his troubles. Blast is trying to get about Liar's side, but Liar is successfully keeping the boxy flipper at bay! Eye of Ran catches his attention by slamming straight into the previously hit wheel of Liar, again doing nothing more than cosmetic damage, and sending Eye of Ran straight into Exertion, who takes the gift-wrapped robot with utmost satisfaction and pulverizes Eye of Ran into one of the four Discs of Death!!! And like nothing, the 5mm polycarb, with the skirt attached to it, is shredded away like paper! Suddenly there is a note of panic of the Picus camp now, as his doom-giver has no more protection, let alone a Plan B!
Liar seems to notice this as well, but before he can act on giving Eye of Ran II whatfor, Blast is on his case and this time outmanoeuvres the 2WD bot, getting under the side! Again Liar goes bouncing away as Blast pushes him, but they go right over the arena saws, Blast failing to stop in time! BZZT! BZZT! Neither robot show the effects of damage, however, and Liar is gunning straight at Eye of Ran, Exertion under it and trying to slam it against the wall again. He fails this time around, but Liar is in there and heaves Eye of Ran into the air with the flipper again! Eye of Ran again manages to keep right-side-up, but Exertion is back at him! Blast however intercepts the Jackson machine, and slams it against the arena wall, but activating the flipper too late and nearly flipping itself! Exertion partakes in the given advantage and lifts Blast over from the side, and then slams him into Eye of Ran, who Liar gets under again, but as Joey gets tossed about once again, it's nearing the end of the match!
10...9...8...7...
Blast tries to attack Liar, and instead is forcfully shoved into Liar by Exertion, while Eye of Ran, now on its back again, spins up, apparently forgotten about!
6...5...4...
Liar moves around Jackson and Cuomo machines, but Eye of Ran thwarts his flipping plans with a desperate hit on nearly the top end of the wheel that hasn't gotten hit yet, and slightly dents it, the first time it's caused some damage to body armour this match! Both bots fly backwards!
3...2...1...
Liar charges Eye of Ran, gets under and flips! Exertion slams Blast into the arena wall once more time, Blast ricohceting off, but getting under Exertion again! FLIP!!!
CEASE!
OH MY!!! A very close call for Team ??? as Exertion is finally out of the arena, but we will have to go to our first ever four-way judges decision! This decision will be different from the others as all robots will be given a mark based on their own actions during the match.
Strategy
Exertion II - 1/5 * 1 = 1 (had no real set strategy, just went out and attacked everybody, so no real marks...however, this was extremely successful, as he managed to pull off many slams on all three of his opponents, so he gets a point)
Liar 2 - 2/5 * 1 = 2 (failed several times to utilize his manoeuvrability and weaponry, but the times he was successful, he made his mark, especially on Eye of Ran II.)
Blast - 3/5 * 1 = 3 (managed to ram Liar 2, his main target, a few good times, and even got a few flips in on Exertion II. However, he was unable to utilize opponent Eye of Ran II as hoped.)
Eye of Ran II - 4/5 * 1 = 4 (was very successful in protecting his blade until being shunted into the Disc of Death, and attacked Liar 2 and Blast several times. Good marks.)
Style
Exertion II - 1/5 * 2 = 2 (nothing really stylish here, though overturning Blast a few times was a bit fun to watch.)
Liar 2 - 3/5 * 2 = 6 (a few nice flips here and there, and thwacking Eye of Ran II and Blast certainly looked cool. Being shoved around by Blast, less so.)
Blast - 4/5 * 2 = 8 (the self-rights were a treat, and the toss against Liar 2 and those pushes that bounced Liar 2 up and over repeatedly looked really cool.)
Eye of Ran II - 3/5 * 2 = 6 (nice hits on Liar 2 and Blast, though none too damaging, sent them flying and impressed the crowd, but wasn't too impressive otherwise.)
Control
Exertion II - 4/5 * 3 = 12 (quite controlled...slights were figuring out how to drive upside-down (but getting the hang of it early, as seen!) and being unable to escape the CPZ)
Liar 2 - 1/5 * 3 = 3 (letting Blast get to his sides several times wasn't that great, and nor was losing control of Eye of Ran II and getting hit several times. He gets a point for holding Blast off for a bit.)
Blast - 3/5 * 3 = 9 (fairly controlled through the fight, managed to outpace Liar 2 and come straight back on the attack after walloped by Eye of Ran II. However, allowing himself to be a house robot chewtoy wasn't appealing)
Eye of Ran II - 3/5 * 3 = 9 (while a bit slow, he managed to utilize his strategy with precise control until the end of the match. On the other hand, allowing himself to be flipped about by Liar 2 wasn't good control.)
Aggression
Exertion II - 5/5 * 4 = 20 (aggressive throughout; let up for no one, and got straight back into the game after being attacked.)
Liar 2 - 3/5 * 4 = 12 (fairly tenacious, but rather cagey when being circled by Blast, or trying to avoid Eye of Ran II's weaponry.)
Blast - 4/5 * 4 = 16 (the next aggressive after Exertion II, reckless in its assaults against all three competitors, however Exertion II managed to stall its aggression from time-to-time.)
Eye of Ran II - 2/5 * 4 = 8 (slightly malicious, but was pursued nearly everywhere by Liar 2 and Exertion and could not be as aggressive as it wanted to be. Still, interrupting Liar 2 with its blade was nice.)
Damage
Exertion II - 3/5 * 5 = 15 (made major use of the Discs of Death by slamming Eye of Ran II and Blast into them, so good marks here, but was unable to do much by himself otherwise.)
Liar 2 - 2/5 * 5 = 10 (thwacked Eye of Ran II twice, and created a puncture, thwacked Blast, and possibly did some impact damage from his flips, but nothing too spectacular.)
Blast - 3/5 * 5 = 15 (also made use of the Discs of Death by shoving Liar into them, and made use of the arena saws as well.)
Eye of Ran II - 3/5 * 5 = 15 (despite the damage he took, he caused damage to all three competitors however little, the most of which was done to Blast at the start, whose skirt was gashed up, and then to Liar 2, who received a dent on his wheel.)
TOTAL
Exertion II = 50
Liar 2 = 33
Blast = 51
Eye of Ran II = 40
Eye of Ran II ran with an eye eye eye! all the way home, while Liar 2 cannot tell a lie...about his defeat!

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
And to finish the Round 1 fights...
Melee 2
Traffic Warden vs. Cobalt vs. Equinox vs. Assegai
From Glasgow in Scotland...Traffic Warden!
(created by Steven McGregor)
A U-shaped horizontal clamper, with two hydraulic rams powering the clamps towards 10 tonnes of squeeze. Has torque to spare, and also decent armour, but is very vulnerable to wedging.
From Gainsborough...Cobalt!
(created by Frank Goacher)
A box-wedge clad in Hardox, with A28-400 Ampflow motors powering 2WD, and a nasty disc-on-wedge to shred tires and undersides. The dimensions however rival some lightweights in size...
From Liverpool...Equinox!
(created by Lewis Matthews)
Another compact machine in the form of a box with wedges on the front and sides, a pointed rear, and weapons synergy in the form of long lifting forks, barbs, and a clamping arm. It's also armoured well and drives well.
From King's Cross in London...Assegai!
(created by Zarte Siempre)
4WD box with an unusual weapon: a battering ram held by cables, essentially turning it into a double-rammer. Its motors provide sufficient shove, and it has good armour, but like Traffic Warden above, lack of wedge protection ails it.
Roboteers, stand by...

Equinox is out of its spot like a shot, and heads towards Traffic Warden, who is too cumbersome to avoid the charge and is swiftly gotten under! The huge horizontal clamps come into play...or do they? Does it even look like it's clamping? Equinox definitely is though, as the comes down on the middle of Traffic Warden's body and the forks start to lift it...Cobalt meanwhile is dealing with Assegai, who is looking to get to Cobalt's sides, but Cobalt is doing a pretty good job of protecting them. Eventually Zarte has to bit the bullet and come flying into Cobalt's front, but the ram within hits the disc and sends both robots flying! Assegai lands on an arena spike and gets poked a few times, and Cobalt nearly is roasted by the flame pit, but goes after Assegai again. Driving by them is Equinox with a clamped Traffic Warden, and within seconds the pit release is activated. Not loosening the grip one bit, Equinox heads straight towards the descending platform and deposits Traffic Warden, as it dangles a bit - OH NO!!! Equinox has...fallen into the pit!!! How on...let's have a replay of this...okay, Equinox dangles Traffic Warden over the pit, but Traffic Warden balanced completely on the forks, and then...quite simply, unbalanced like a scale, with the fulcrum of balance quite obviously over the pit, tipping Equinox up by the forks and making it fall in with it!!! What a horrible display!!! It appears Lewis isn't too displeased as he is roaring with laughter with the outcome, but this means Assegai and Cobalt, having done very little, go through! Shocking indeed, and the house robots aren't happy about their total lack of action!
CEASE!
Traffic Warden's progress goes from green light to red light, while the Equinox's time has come!

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Exertion II vs. Cobalt
My plan here will be to use my speed advantage to get around the back of Cobalt and exploit that 30mm high rear ground clearance. Once there, my aim is to lift it up off the ground with my lifting wedge. Cobalt's wheels are positioned right at the back, so once it has been lifted up from the rear, it's not going anywhere. Then I can either feed it to the house robots and the arena hazards or try to get it down the pit. If Cobalt does manage to get under me, my wheels should be tough enough to survive any impacts, but hopefully I should be quick enough to avoid that anyway.
Good luck, Frank. :)
-
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
With Exertion vs. Cobalt, it REALLY will depend on how often Frank could've :lame: got under the ramming wonder; if it's many, then I predict Cobalt to wina JD on damage/strategy, and if not, he will be pitted.
Now for me   I really like this match-up. For many reasons. Firstly, Blast is designed to fight skirted machine, hence the scoop designed to pierce skirts with the spikes built in, secondly, I am 8mph (roughly) faster than the opponent, which while it may worsen control :talker: it also means that his weapon may be useless, as whenever he'll rear up for a run, I can just ram in before he has momentum. On the subject of the weapon, as a concept I love in :proud: I mean that; I love the originality of it, and also the way it can affect the opponent. However, if Blast can take being hit by House Robots and the destructive Eye Of Ran II with minimal damage, I think that weapon won't trouble me TOO much.
Main plan (and only) is the hit him in the front around the battering ram, get under the skirtless machine with easy ground clearance to deal with :proud: shunt him to the edge and get rid via OOTA. If I can't get him over the fence, give him to the house robots to damage him.
Good luck Matty, and here's hoping Kody writes a fight that sees 2 of my machines in the final :uhoh: WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO, WHEN I'M IN THE FINAL :uhoh: :uhoh:

It's Exertion that makes the first move, getting around the front of Cobalt, but finds the Team Bored robot can easily keep up with it with its 24v motors! There is much circling, all that work being done by Exertion II, but a steady pace in return is presented by Cobalt, as the wedge keeps itself in line with Exertion's moves. Eventually catching Exertion off-guard, Frank moves forwards and manages to get his wedge underneath Exertion's side, and the disc begins to shred...there is not nearly enough power to even scratch the 10mm Ti/V clad about Exertion's chassis, but getting deeper underneath Andy's robot, Cobalt's disc catches Exertion's right-rear wheel and now begins to shred...only for the disc to throw Exertion off suddenly! Andy makes quite the most of this, as his wheel seems to be okay, and Exertion zooms straight around, under Cobalt's rear, and throws him into Growler's CPZ with a long extended run! But what a stunner...the wedge of Cobalt manages to get underneath Growler's lower jaw! Only a bit, though, as Growler hits the disc, takes absolutely minimal damage and stopping the disc, and moves Cobalt further up onto Exertion...now piggy-backing the box, Cobalt tries to drive off, but Exertion with another extended running start mashes him right into the pit release button, not only activating the release button, but releasing the signage from the button itself! :proud: Cobalt bounces...but is now on the wedge of Exertion, and definitely not a good place to be now! Exertion goes up with the lifter, all while driving Cobalt forward, and manages to roll Cobalt onto its back! Frank's there with the srimech, but the pit is so near - NO!! Cobalt rights itself and barely escapes a pitting!! But Andy's not done yet!! Exertion turns and catches Cobalt's side as the latter tries to get away!! Up with the lifter, and Cobalt's on its side!! Now Exertion pushes Cobalt onto its back, right in front of the pit!! But already the srimech is - aaah!!! That's it!! Cobalt pitted!! What a finisher that was! Frank just could not escape the pit and his robot ended up down in it! Goodness me! Well done, Exertion.

This for the last place in the Annihilator, and already Blast is proving to be the better of the two early on, getting straight under Assegai - ahhh...the ram came into play and knocked Blast back. It didn't really do much to Blast though, let's be honest, and now Paul takes advantage by getting Assegai before it can charge in again, and - goodness me, what power! Assegai must have flown about 11 feet into the air! It's landed upside-down, I believe, but Paul isn't letting up! Already it's back under the boxy machine and shoving it towards Exa-Gore-Ic Evo...ooh, good move...and not flipping, Blast backs off as the massive pincers of Exa-Gore-Ic clamp on the 7mm titanium body shell of Assegai, and the punching spike of the house robot beats on the hapless competitor! How...ironic, a puncher getting punched...Blast meanwhile has hit the pit release button, and down goes the pit but honestly I doubt he'll need it. Now Assegai is released but look at the marks on the back...Assegai is really up against it here, and indeed up against the scoop again - Blast is again knocked back...the battering ram powered by gravity, so captain Zarte Siempre says, but gravity is working against him here!!! That's another massive flip!! OOH, what an impact. Surely the collisions are taking their toll on the machine from King's Cross, but Assegai is away, and now...around the pit. Hmm, I believe we have a game of cat and mouse here. Of course he's not getting any points for simply hanging here - no, Paul isn't falling for it. Knowing nothing really magical is happening, Assegai makes for the saws now, but Blast intercepts - and he's gone!! What a throw!! Zarte meant to lure Paul towards the saws, but Blast got right in under him before Assegai got there, up went the scoop, and out went Assegai, straight out of the arena, what a powerful flipper! We'll be seeing more of Blast later, as he has a spot in the Annihilator Final!

 !!WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!
Great fights there written very quickly, can say I am greatly impressed Mr Kody for your services to this tournument :talker: Well done to Matty for making an interesting robot that people shall rip off for years to come.
The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4 - Annihilator Final
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Empty Inside vs. Harraz vs. Exertion II vs. Blast
The great thing about both my choices for the final here is that they don't HAVE to work as a team-up, because they can work equally as effective mano-a-mano. And the mix of machines here provides me with some hope that I'll be fine for the first few rounds. The most dangerous machines I can see in this arena are Vertigo, Empty Inside (due to their OOTAing capacity) and S.O.T.A.R (due to it's extreme damage potential). I'm not writing off Exertion AT ALL, but as far as KOing is concerned, I have little to be in fear of. Due to this fact, I will divide the fighting for each of my machines: Blast will take on S.O.T.A.R, as due to the front armour, it's the best to scoop and get rid either way, combined with the speed to make it quick to stop the spinning of said machine. He will also take on Vertigo/Empty Inside, for the same reasons of 'getting rid' in mind. Harraz will take on fellow rammer Exertion, as with better power/traction, I can try stacking him against the side and getting rid that way, or by pitting. He will also take on whichever on Blast doesn't go for :proud:
Good luck to Lian, Lewis, Tracy and AJ, hope this goes amazing

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
My plan: Survive, any fancy a team up on Vertigo?
-
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
thanks Lian :lame:  you should head over to MM3.0 and give tactics btw, fights will be written soon.
I'm open for team-ups, if not my plan is to try and stay out of danger and get a sneaky OOTA on someone else while their attacking another bot. If I face a big team up then go for Empty Inside, seen as he's the instigator :P
-
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Empty Inside vs. Harraz vs. Exertion II vs. Blast
Since Harraz is targeting me, I may as well fight it head-to-head. Paul claims to have more power and traction, but that's no use if I lift his wheels up off the ground using my wedge. If I can manage that, the plan will be the same as it was against Cobalt - push it into the house robots, the hazards, or S.O.T.A.R. :proud:
-
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
No problem lewis, always willing to lend a hand
If the team up is declined, then just survive till the end, flipping as i go, may head for SOTAR as its the big threat here
On 2nd thoughts, team up on SOTAR anyone?

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
And here we go!
The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Final Annihilator Round 1
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Empty Inside vs. Harraz vs. Exertion II vs. Blast
From Brooks, Canada...S.O.T.A.R.!
(created by Tracy Farber)
Winner of the 2010 Best Horizontal Spinner award, and why not? It can put out amazing amounts of power in a very short spin-up time indeed, is invertible, and has enough drivetrain power to escape situations, or even be aggressive when need calls. It's not going to push worth a damn, however, but its overwhelming armour on the ring means nothing in the arena can likely even scratch it. The top and bottom zinc/aluminium alloy will withstand only a few hits though...
From Liverpool...Vertigo!
(created by Lewis Matthews)
Named after the U2 song, this box-wedge has a tough, powerful flipping plate which doesn't hinder its invertibility, and quite a powerful drivetrain. There are stoppers on the wedge to prevent robots driving over it, which an be quite useful in this particular fight...but if it runs out of flipping power, it can only ram. If it doesn't...look out below!
From Northampton...Empty Inside!
(created by Lian Walsh)
Its aim is to empty the arena of its opponents! Its rear-hinged flipper, running the length of the robot, can toss over 300kg easily, and has quite a great number of flips, so it might not run out before you're on the camera tracks! Other notable features are 6mm titanium armour, and A28-400 drive. It won't be as powerful as a few of the other flippers in this tournament, though, both drivetrain-wise and weapon-wise...
From Orpington in Kent...Harraz!
(created by Paul Cuomo)
A Hardox armoured robot with an angular low box shape, it has a controlled lifting arm and plenty of drivetrain power to lift and ram! It will suffer from a lack of actual damaging weaponry, but lifters have been an uncommon phenomenon these days. A black-and-blue colour scheme might foreshadow your eventual beating, too...
From Shrewsbury in Shropshire...Exertion II!
(created by Andrew Jackson)
Very compact design with 1cm thick Ti/V armour, a front lifting wedge and rear ramming spikes, he's a tough nut to crack, and possibly too thin to even be stacked on his side. Despite this, he's got no real damaging weaponry, but he's a pushy blighter and looking to exert some force-power on his opponents.
From Orpington in Kent...Blast!
(also created by Paul Cuomo)
A boxy robot with angled sides and rear (inverse), and a full-pressure flipper at 750psi, able to toss quite much into the air and self-right with that flipper. It's also armoured rather well, but it's not the best pusher with undervolted LEM130s, so it won't do too much 'blast'ing off, unless in a terminal direction.

Let the Annihilator commence! :proud:
Empty Inside and Blast are immediately after S.O.T.A.R., but they find the plucky spinner already up to speed and looking mightily dangerous early on! Nonetheless, Blast plucks up courage and lays a smack right into Tracy's ring spinner and both robots get smacked away a fair distance! The scoop doesn't seem to have taken much damage, but that's another matter because Vertigo has cheekily attacked Blast and tossed it over! As Blast self-rights, Empty Inside looks to take advantage of S.O.T.A.R.'s stun, but that deadly ring is again at full speed and the Achilles-alike is tossed just as far as Blast was, with a dented flipper to show for it! Harraz meanwhile has attacked Exertion II, and has managed to get underneath it, immediately giving it a vicious shove into Sgt. Bash's CPZ, while the dastardly Sergeant clamps in with the claw...but the flamethrower blazes against Harraz's armour, not Exertion's! Andy's robot is too low, I'm afraid! :proud: Nonetheless, the lifting arm of Harraz activates, and sends both Exertion and the house robot up on an angle, and eventually tips Sgt. Bash onto its rear end into the corner! It drops Exertion in surprise, who lands directly on Harraz! Harraz zooms across the arena to deliver Exertion to an unpleasant place as Vertigo gets in another gigantic toss on Blast and S.O.T.A.R. spins up again! Lian and Empty Inside bravely rush the spinner but another hit just sends them reeling again, the flipper blade now with a large cut in it! But finally this has the effect Lian wanted and S.O.T.A.R. is roughed up against the arena wall! Harraz however interrupts the play by slamming itself into S.O.T.A.R. and Exertion goes flying off! In the confusion Empty Inside manages to get underneath S.O.T.A.R. and toss it...ALMOST out of the arena, but Tracy breathes a sigh of relief as the spinner hits the railing and bounces off, much to Lian's chagrin! Seeing a weakened opponent, Harraz turns on S.O.T.A.R. and delivers it to an empty CPZ, where Rorschach immediately zooms over! Lian's there in no time as well, and Empty Inside tries to get in another OOTA attempt but the angle is poor and S.O.T.A.R. rides the wall, now completely out of danger! To make matters worse, Rorschach is now in Harraz' face for the earlier treatment of Sgt. Bash, and getting under him lowers the crushing beak! Empty Inside leaves the CPZ and chases down S.O.T.A.R., who is spinning again, and this time manages to deflect S.O.T.A.R. across the arena, and over the saws, but they don't pop up in time. Lian dodges the upraised saws, but this means Tracy gets him from the side and the bots are separated in a massive way! Empty Inside's flipper blade is now slashed open!
Vertigo meanwhile is having a blast, heh, with Blast! :proud: Lewis is quite trigger happy, as he tosses Blast all over the arena, missing a few OOTA attempts but not letting Blast recover even once! Paul's teammates are doing all they can but Vertigo is getting under every time! An intrusion by S.O.T.A.R., however interrupts the fun with an absolutely massive shot on Vertigo's side!! The resulting dent in the 4mm Hardox is quite massive and sends Vertigo flipper-first into the arena wall! This does however send S.O.T.A.R. directly into the path of Empty Inside, but S.O.T.A.R. slides off the side of the wedge before Empty Inside can activate the flipper, and it crashes head-long into Blast! Not to be put-off, Lian is under Blast, and gives Cuomo Machine 1 a nice inverting via the flipper; Lewis isn't happy about that cheap shot and is after S.O.T.A.R., but the spinner is proving tricky to catch and Vertigo misses a charge! Tracy makes Lewis pay for that with another hit on the side, denting it up further but sending itself flying towards the resulting house robot scene with Harraz and Exertion, the latter of which is underneath Rorschach and trying to lift him over! Vertigo flies in immediately, and is able to catch S.O.T.A.R. before it can spin-up, but this takes them straight into the rear of Rorschach and S.O.T.A.R. bounces off the house robot...into Empty Inside's path! Thing is, there's an Exertion II in the way and Lian coming in mashes S.O.T.A.R. against Exertion, and then flips her on top of the Shropshire machine. This doesn't bother Andy one bit, though, but S.O.T.A.R. can't seem to get away! Vertigo now tries to flip the house robot, but with Exertion lifting Rorschach up from the side, Vertigo misses most of its potential with the flip and Rorschach is popped up a bit...this does however make the house robot let go of Harraz, who rams into the other side of Exertion and starts to lift it and S.O.T.A.R. over! Empty Inside however responds with a flip and Exertion goes sailing overtop of Harraz, and behind him, while S.O.T.A.R. lands on the upraised flipper! And then Blast 'blasts' in...with an utterly spectacular double flip that overturns both S.O.T.A.R. and Empty Inside! Vertigo gets the hint and rams S.O.T.A.R. as it tries to get away, but accidentally drives into one of the arena spikes and is popped over! S.O.T.A.R. is now definitely away and spins up as Lewis self-rights his machine, but Lian has self-righted faster and tries getting underneath Vertigo; it does, and now tosses Vertigo against the arena wall...uh oh! It looks like Vertigo can't right itself properly from that position...!! ...and how friendly. S.O.T.A.R. has travelled over to Vertigo and walloped the side again, actually freeing Vertigo from its predicament! Lian seems quite furious that his plan failed, but Blast is in there and manages to flip Empty Inside before the latter can respond! Goodness me, what a powerful flip! Empty Inside lands on its back, as Lewis self-rights his own robot from its back, and Vertigo now gets straight under Empty Inside...only for the Bloodmage bot to right itself and have Vertigo sail by! And directly into a hit from S.O.T.A.R.! One of the skirts is smashed open by the hit, sending Empty Inside skittering away...and into Blast! Now Blast tries to get Empty Inside over the fence...but fires a little too late and Empty Inside bounces off the wall...to meet Vertigo! And Lewis makes good on what Blast threatened, and Empty Inside sails over the wall, crashing out!
Meanwhile, Harraz and Exertion II have lifted over Rorschach and have taken turns ramming the house robot...behave you two!
CEASE!
Well, Empty Inside certainly said what it is on the tin! It's out!

-
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
WOOTAGE ONCE MORE  tbh, I wasn't completely sure one of my machines would be getting through that, so I'm quite happy both are still in. Unlucky Lian, still, life goes on :talker:
Round 2
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Harraz vs. Exertion II vs. Blast
Well, the tactics for Harraz worked pretty well, which is a good thing, thus they shall stay the same: attack Exertion/whoever Blast isn't attacking :proud: and try and stack them against the wall or pit them, or shove them into walls and house robots till something breaks.
With Blast, I think he was VERY lucky to survive the last round, so play it a bit conservative this time; still aim all my efforts on SOTAR or Vertigo, mostly the latter as due to lack of skirts he's easier to get under and attack, and either OOTA him straight off, or shove him into SOTAR to slow the spinner and try and get rid of Tracy instead :proud:
Good luck Lewis, Tracy and AJ, let's see how the rest of this Annihilator goes :talker:

Off we go with the 2nd round! Blast is again after S.O.T.A.R., and Harraz after Exertion, the Cuomo bots on their respective targets immediately! Vertigo meanwhile isn't doing much, but is simply waiting. Blast however is actually unable to catch up to S.O.T.A.R., whose acceleration seems to best the machine she faces! Getting around the scoop however is another matter, but made simpler by the fact that Blast is charging recklessly in, she gets a free shot at the titanium skirt and rips into it! And I mean RIPS into it...not only did a gash get torn into the skirt, but it bent back into the spinner for another hit, which tore it wide open, and sent both bots away! Vertigo is after Blast like a shot, and manages to get past the scoop to get under and flip it over! A good flip that's stacked Blast against a wall for a brief moment and - ...goodness me, what a quick one! The pride of Liverpool should certainly be proud of that one, as Blast has been sent over the fence! And while this has happened, Harraz managed to overturn Exertion, and ram it into the arena wall. But what's done is done, and indeed well done from Vertigo!
CEASE!
Blast and Team Insanity are sent 'blasting off again!' :proud: The team must rely on Harraz now...

Round 3
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Harraz vs. Exertion II
-
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
:proud: Ah well, that was hardly gonna keep up forever; at least Blast got into the top 5, which given it's previous pedigree, is quite an achievement :proud: To be fair as well, I'm amazed Blast was able to get past Round One after the abuse that fell upon it, so never mind, all is well :talker:
Round 3
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Harraz vs. Exertion II
Well, with the variety of robots left in, I'm left with a few options:
1. Ram into Vertigo, and try pitting him.
2. Ram into Exertion II and try pitting him.
3. Ram into S.O.T.A.R and try doing the hokey-kokey, nah, just pit him
Seriously, the plan is to target Exertion II still, with the mentality of ramming him about the arena, but an additional idea is shove him in the way of S.O.T.A.R or a destructive or at least pesky house robot, and lift them up into them exposing the base/top plate to attack to cause more damage and that way cause a KO 8) HOPEFULLY 8)
The two main targets are Exertion II and Vertigo, with more effort being focused on the former, but if there ever is a scenario to eliminate S.O.T.A.R, then I'll go for it, as I have everything to gain, and nothing to lose
Good luck to AJ, Tracy and Lewis, may the strongest machine win and all that jazz :proud:

There goes Harraz, and again he seems to be after Exertion! Exertion simply heads straight back at Harraz, but it's Harraz who proves the lower and lifts Exertion up, slamming the Shropshire machine into the arena wall! It's an unusual display as Exertion is balanced against the arena wall on his rear spikes, and Harraz is holding him there - OH! Vertigo gave a little...flick, against the rear of Harraz, only managing to get underneath the rear skirt of Harraz...Harraz can't really turn around in that position and now they're all locked together...and now there's a gigantic CRASH, S.O.T.A.R. implies its importance in the Final with a massive smash against the rear of Vertigo, slicing through the Hardox just as well as before, and in its heat with Venus Fly Trap! But as such, Vertigo finds it hard to turn with another robot in front of it, meaning S.O.T.A.R. has another go, and Vertigo turns too late - CRASH!!! The bottom corner is caught and slashed open, forcing the fighters away from each other violently! This frees Harraz from Vertigo's tackle, but it now leaves Exertion there and has a go at Vertigo! Exertion activates its lifter and falls off the wall nicely, thank you very much. Vertigo tries to get around Harraz to take revenge upon S.O.T.A.R., but the Orpington machine wants ITS revenge first, and - is denied! Vertigo has gotten under, and with a very powerful toss catapults Harraz across the arena - AH! What an opportunity! S.O.T.A.R. is relentlessly attacking Vertigo, now the side has taken it! And Exertion's back into the game, ramming into Harraz and getting underneath the side skirt, lifting it over! Lewis is fuming about the three unanswered shots Vertigo has taken, but roars in anyway against S.O.T.A.R., but can't quite reach the spinner before the deadly blades have acquired their nasty speed! The side of the flipping plate takes a blow this time, but it stands up better to S.O.T.A.R.'s blow, though knocking the box-wedge aside and allowing S.O.T.A.R. spin up again! Ah? S.O.T.A.R. suddenly has a Harraz shoved into it by Exertion, and a lukewarm blow to Harraz' skirt glances off as Lewis smells an golden moment here and charges straight into S.O.T.A.R., taking the ring spinner to the wall...! AGH! It was a side-on flip, and S.O.T.A.R. bounces off the wall...however now Tracy is in trouble anyway, because S.O.T.A.R. is inverted! Paul however is in his own share of trouble because Exertion has slammed Harraz into the arena wall and is pushing him along it to Count Bleck's CPZ! Wait a second...is Count Bleck actually spinning at FULL speed?! It is! And one massive house robot attack later, and Harraz has completely lost a side skirt, while Bleck has thrown itself against the arena wall with enough force to make Mass Disctruction Ultimate scamper away on its Anarchy-style legs! :proud: And...Count Bleck has effectively killed himself!! Or the ring...yes, the house robot is moving, but apparently he cannot spin up anymore!! Whatever the case, it's rendered moot as Exertion now slams the skirtless Harraz against another arena wall!
Lewis on the other hand is now having a ton of fun with S.O.T.A.R.; not wishing to risk flipping and righting the Canadian spinner Vertigo is simply ramming it all around the shop, the wedge too far back to be hit by the now over-cutting blades! This is not good and Tracy is trying to get her robot on even footing here, but Lewis is just relentless with the ramming, and what power is now surely dwindling in the spinner from Brooks? However, S.O.T.A.R. makes a lucky turn and manages to strike Vertigo in the side, just at the top of the machine and sending both robots away, Vertigo gashed again! An infuriated Vertigo is back on S.O.T.A.R.'s case, but abandoning all pretence, Tracy drives at Harraz now, who is being pushed towards S.O.T.A.R. by Exertion! S.O.T.A.R. manages to skim the top of Harraz' bottom (which is now top) and graze it, but Vertigo collides with S.O.T.A.R. and then Exertion! Exertion shoots out from under both Harraz and S.O.T.A.R., and takes on Vertigo now! Exertion lifts Vertigo up from the side and slams him hard into the arena wall! Harraz isn't letting Exertion get away and leaves S.O.T.A.R. to do whatever...Exertion ain't turning around anytime soon and Harraz successfully gets the attack in, lifting both Exertion and Vertigo up against the arena wall! Well Tracy isn't happy with the position she's in, and now decides to do something about it! As Lewis activates the flipper and try and throw itself off of Exertion, S.O.T.A.R. screams in with an absolutely massive shot to the side, tearing into it, but ironically freeing Vertigo...and allowing Harraz to shove Exertion up against the arena wall again! Vertigo is back after S.O.T.A.R. now, but is moving slower than before...are the hits taking their toll on it? Tracy seems to have noticed as well, and is now gunning with all her might for Vertigo's sides. However even with the reduced speed Lewis is able to get the front in, and then drives into S.O.T.A.R...and pushes it across the arena...towards Count Bleck! Uh oh, the house robot is in major trouble! And...and NOW VERTIGO FLIPS!!! AHAHAHAHAHA!!! :proud: :proud: :proud: I...I'm stunned, I'll tell you! Both Lewis and Tracy have dropped their transmitters in hilarity, for S.O.T.A.R. was thrown into the air, and completely shore off Count Bleck's hat and monocle! :proud: :proud: :proud: I'm not too sure what's going to happen now, S.O.T.A.R. is beached on top of the house robot...who isn't moving NOW...Vertigo, now mobile again, is puzzled at what to do...and though Andy and Paul have had a chuckle, Harraz is still on the attack, shoving Exertion into the pit release button! So, the attack continues...The Watcher comes in to have a look at S.O.T.A.R., now tries to free it...AND OI! You...you dastardly Liverpool boy!!! Vertigo has toppled the refbot! What shenanigans are taking place here?! House robots won't like it!! Asterix Anarchius immediately across the arena, Vertigo is slammed hard into the arena wall by the gaul-ish house robot! But I think it's now a done deal! Harraz has very carefully positioned Exertion II on the lifter, and is driving towards the pit! And yes, both Vertigo and S.O.T.A.R. are safe because, try as Andy might, he's unable to get off the lifter of Harraz and a moment later Exertion II has eaten pit bottom...followed by Harraz itself! :proud: What craziness!
CEASE!
Exertion II exerted not just 'forcepower', but unfortunately its own life-force as well! Out it goes!

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
I liked the part where I took off Count Bleck's hat.
Try to keep out of trouble, bother the other robots a bit and watch the fun, I suppose. :)
Actually, attack ALL the things, still do my best to not be offed, but ALL THE THINGS. XD We like a good show, right?

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Final 3...and these battles are coming on a treat...and very quickly: I'm almost concerned for your well-being Kody :uhoh:
Round 4
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Harraz
OK, maybe at this point, with so much room in the arena for attacking now, I'll have to stop thinking about discriminating one machine and hounding them, but instead stay safe and attack when it's a good idea.
Here are the individual tactics for both machines left in:
Vertigo: Clearly the most dangerous machine so far in this Annihilator, espeically given it's taken out 2 of the fallen contestants, and also some house robots :proud: So try to avoid the front as much as possible, and shove him into the walls/house robots till something breaks, maybe also try my ploy with overturning and shoving into SOTAR to attack the base plate. One ploy which I may try is if I get under the rear, push him towards the arena walls, and try and position him on the wall with his back facing the outside. This will either waste his CO2 trying to get off (if he does) but he may throw himself OOTA (hopefully  )
SOTAR: The plan with this is kinda outing-on-a-wing, by ramming into him after he comes in contact with something, and is spinning a bit slower. Then overturn him into the house robots, just to make it harder to escape, plus (again hopefully :proud: ) Vertigo will take him on instead of me, and try and get rid of the more dangerous machine.
Good luck Tracy and Lewis. As you tell from my tactics, I'm filled with hopeful scenarios here :uhoh: And have fun writing this one Kody :proud:

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
w00t :D excellent writing Kody, sorry I haven't been posting tactics very much :(
In this next fight I'd like to offer Paul a team-up (sorry Tracy). S.O.T.A.R has caused me a lot of damage throughout this annihilator, and would be a massive threat to both of us in the final. I recommend that one of us box rushes S.O.T.A.R, to stop the spinning, so that then the other can move in and take it out quickly via either OOTA or a pitting. I feel this is the best opportunity I'll have to get rid of S.O.T.A.R, I don't fancy taking it on alone in the final at all.
If Paul doesn't want to team-up, I'll just try and avoid taking too much damage and attempt to OOTA either of my opponents as quickly as possible, or attack S.O.T.A.R after it has hit Harraz and so won't be spun up.
Good luck guys, and keep up the great work Kody :D
-
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
I was initally thinking of declining the team-up, as tbh, I don't mind which one I face in the final because chances are I'll lose anyway  but on second thoughts, why not team-up: I'm in.
Open the pit from the off, and simply try to pit the destructive SOTAR. If possible, get him upside-down and against the wall so Lewis can do his OOTAing magic.
That's all really.

Roboteers, stand by...
House robots...ah Sir Killalot, good to see him there...and King Leer as well.

And it starts off with both Vertigo and Harraz homing in on the spinning dervish from Canada! Great as S.O.T.A.R.'s own drive power is, it doesn't outdo its oppressors and within seconds Harraz barrels into S.O.T.A.R. first, the lifting arm taking a massive smack and sending both robots away...and Vertigo keeps going! Before S.O.T.A.R. can do much else other than land, the Liverpool flipper is underneath, and...Vertigo, I think, is setting a very quick record here!!! After all its feared damage potential, and especially after last battle, Lewis has gotten his sweet revenge as S.O.T.A.R. is flipped from the arena floor, and out!!! Tracy appears a bit upset at this, but Paul is no longer focusing on either of them...oho! Paul has some unfinished business with Sir Killalot! Harraz has rammed itself straight into the front of the mighty house robot, and is trying to lift it over! Well it's sort of working; Killalot is indeed lifted, but only a few inches! Catching on, Lewis directs Vertigo at King Leer, and the demise of S.O.T.A.R. has sparked the beginning of another house robot rebellion! And...ahhh, no sir! Vertigo cannot toss over King Leer, he has only gotten underneath but popped it up a bit! Ha ha ha...but...uh oh. King Leer is, although slowly, being pushed towards the arena saws! Oh dear! And he is deposited (slightly, for the stoppers on Vertigo's front have caught him!) on top...and there's no way the saws can throw King Leer's massive weight, so the saws go right through the tires on the left side!!! Dear oh dear! Lewis is simply enjoying this, but things aren't really going well with Harraz! Paul's vengeance against what the house robot did to Harraz in Heat B seems to be a pipe-dream as Sir Killalot is let down and is shoving him away, the claw side-on to the skirt and underneath...oh no. There's the clamp, there's the lift, and I don't think Sir Killalot is feeling very forgiving. To the arena wall they go...hey! Vertigo has popped aside King Leer (who can only now go in circles, it seems), and is aiming directly for the back of Killalot! There's...another pop, but Killalot isn't flipped. I think the fun is done, though, boys, because...
CEASE!
Tracy, sit down and DON'T rotate! S.O.T.A.R. is eliminated!

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Well...final. !!!!WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!
The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4 Final
Vertigo vs. Harraz
Well, as I've stated before, Vertigo is the most dangerous machine left in the competition, hence the fact it's in the final. Then again, I'm in the final, which means I should be the perfect machine to win as well :proud:
The thing about Vertigo is that it's extremely controllable, so getting it in a bad scenario will be difficult. It's also got a very low front, so that's a problem. It's also invertible, so overturning it and hoping it runs out of gas won't work, as it can just drive away.
However, there are many things in my favour. I'm skirted, and he's not so he'll have a harder time getting under me than vice-versa. I've got more power and traction, so maybe I'll get lucky in a head-on collision I'll get underneath.
With all these things in mind, I have certain tactics I can use here. Look up in the individual tactics for the last round for them all :proud: The main one is lifting into the house robots to attack the base-plate and cause serious damage, but if I can stack him on the wall with his back facing the outside of the arena.
Good luck Lewis, and well done Kody for writing an awesome tourney so far; hope it gets even better :proud:
-
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Whey :D great fight Kody XD
as for the final, I have no real tactics other than to be as aggressive as possible and try to get Harraz OOTA or in the pit. Should the match go to a judges decision I could win due to flips being more impressive than lifts, and so when I flip him over I'll try and prevent him self-righting by pushing him into house robots and hazards; with a lifter his self-righting won't be very fast. I believe I'm also more manoeuvrable than him due TK my lack of skirting, and that could prove instrumental in such a closely matched battle.
Good luck Paul, and thanks for writing such an awesome tournament Kody :D

Hold on to yer hats; this Final's just started! :proud:
It's Vertigo off the mark quickly, with a well-paced charge at his adversary, but Harraz is no slouch and moves around the charge, trying to get at the sides! Its more powerful drive allows it to do this, and with some working under the side it's Paul that draws first blood by throwing Vertigo against the arena wall, all while lifting its arm! The result is Vertigo toppling over onto its angled side, but it can't fall onto its back because the wall's in the way! With a powerful uptrust, Vertigo moves away off the wall, but into the front of Harraz, who simply shoves it back into the arena wall! An alarmingly dire situation for Team Mechanical Menagerie here, but The Watcher is unable to count Vertigo out because Harraz is pinning it, obviously. They'll have to get off of that arena wall...and because several seconds have passed, Harraz will have to let them go soon! Wait, up goes the lifter! Harraz goes for the OOTA...and it fails! Vertigo flips itself away just in the nick of time, and not only that, but it manages to land right-side-up as well! An angered Harraz lowers its arm and flies at Vertigo like a swarm of angry bees, but it's Vertigo who gets under this time! Harraz had failed to move around in time, and now Vertigo is well underneath and gains massive ground with a monstrous flip that rockets the flustered Harraz far into the air, and with an almighty and sickening CRASH, Harraz lands snout first! The lifting doesn't seem to be that damaged, but Vertigo is back in action and back underneath! There's another flip and Harraz seems to have the wind knocked out of it as it takes another aerial trip across the arena! This time it lands on all wheels and scurries away before Vertigo can make good on the hat trick! Lewis isn't too discouraged by said failure and goes after his prey, however a nifty turn later and Vertigo seems to have gotten tricked as Harraz gets the side and lifts - no! Vertigo flips again! And falls off the lifter! He's not out of danger yet though, as his front end is still stuck on Harraz' side skirt and the flipper's still open. Harraz moves to turn and ram, and follows through! WHAM!! Vertigo hits the wall and seems to have ITS wind taken from it, toppling off to the side! No preparation can make Vertigo ready for the slam Harraz delivers next, as they go along the wall to Hex's CPZ and the cackling virus opens the lifters...
CRASH!!!
It's the flipper plate that takes the massive hit, but it also sends Hex pinballing back into the CPZ! Without a second thought, Harraz drops Vertigo and attacks Hexadecimal quickly and with sudden venom! Lewis catches on, a smile eclipsing the scowl previously etched on his face, as it seems there is a rebellion brewing: Vertigo goes around Harraz to Hex's other side, and flips her! Well that won't do! Sgt. Bash is out like a rocket and before Harraz can turn around rams the liftbot's rear immediately...going up the rear skirt! Dear me, it seems our ol' Sergeant failed to predict that outcome! Well that's to be expected, sergeants don't make good seers now do they? At any rate this seems to have angered Harraz, and the plucky lifter does an about face and slides underneath the 120kg flame-spewing tyrant, and a simple flick of the lifter topples the Sergeant...just as a whopping heave-ho from Vertigo's scratched flipper sends the Queen of Chaos o'er the arena railing! :proud: Well, anarchy in the C&B...it lives on, I suppose. The Watcher hasn't done anything to stop it...he appears resigned to the fact that house robot rebellions happen. We feel for you, we really do...Vertigo pushes Sgt. Bash all the way across the arena, and another HEAVE...HO! sends him packing over the fence as well! Back to the trenches with you, Bash!
The fight seems to be between the competitors again now, as Harraz and Vertigo square each other up again. Paul follows his tactics through again, and it seems his drive is winning as he is intent on gaining the sides of Vertigo! But Lewis instills some tactics his own; Vertigo spins the other way and catches the Team Insanity robot off-guard! Now with the clear advantage, Vertigo rams under the side of Harraz and flips it, and it's a triple twist into a double flip! :proud: The spiralling out of control stuns Harraz long enough for Lewis' attack to continue; Vertigo is again underneath...! And they go to the wall!!!
Flip.
IT'S OVER!!! Harraz joins the house robots on the wrong side of the fence!!! Paul gives Lewis a knowing look and begins to clap for him as the latter, delighted, dances like a maniac! His robot mirrors his actions; Vertigo drives straight into the wall! :proud: Backing up, he fires the flipper and overturns himself! And then a brilliant self-right! Vertigo is the winner!
CEASE!!!
Harraz got harrassed one too many times, methinks, and gives up the ghost at the final hurdle!
Vertigo wins The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament Of Death 4!!!

Congratulations to Lewis, and to Paul and Tracy respectively...and a massive thanks to everybody who took part, you all made this possible. :) As to when there'll be another mini-tournament? Not sure. The inactivity on this forum is quite disconcerting. I will finish up my major first though, before anything else (except me and AJ's tourney) starts. :P
'Til we meet again...crash & burn.

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Hehe, good job guys, and good job writing this Kody. :)
I am holding a grudge for being outed by a team up though. As much of a grudge as I can hold anyway. Provided I don't forget!

Yay I actually won a tournament! :D
Excellent writing Kody, commiserations Paul and thanks to everyone for a brilliant tournament :D

Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Sorry, I haven't abandoned anything yet, I just have been quite busy - which is exactly the position of many other people on this site
One word to say to the final result: bum :? Alas, my second runner-up in C&B Mini-Tournuments which is fine, and well done to Vertigo. Good final fight as well from Kody, and I shall now try to come back more often and stuff like that because of cool fights and stuff :proud:
