Yep, ive had that old Xbox since 2004 and its still going strong
ye, its very large for a feather and looks in a complete mess, but i think lian will be able to get it running again.
the cable ties were from today when we tryed to do a system check for the parts for my new bot and it didnt work
something was up in the system that we just couldnt find. what ill probably do is dis-connect everything and re-solder it all back together properly :)
What sort of size is it? Doesn't look insanely big or anything. I always just use terminal blocks to test things rather than soldering it, just so you can disconnect it all more easily if its not going as planned.
the main shell is 43cm x 43cm x 10cm with the addition of the wedge
next weekend you will see it with a new 3mm stell scoop and 2cm steel sided all bolted on and it might be able to take a few hits from spinner
but the steel would only be mounted on 3mm polycarb, but eventually will be fully welded together and after that will be a full metal shell :)
Cicatrix is 44cm x 41cm x 10cm with the pusher pod on so not a massive difference. Its well within the weight limit too, looking to add some weight before Edinburgh, so could just stash the old Daiske inside the front pod  .
Sounds like some good improvements, will be interesting it in action.
its only a basic ram bot, but do ya think you could run 2 drill motors off some 30a esc's?
Probably, At the champs I ran the drills off 2 15A Electronize and a Scorpion XL which I think is 12.5A per channel, and they didn't blow (well, not because of the motors anyway...) so I would guess they would be ok.
mabey even 2 15a with 25a fuses :)
thats what jamie does for drumroll running it al 19.2v :)
Jamie uses a Scorpion XL in Drumroll II.
he used 15a in drumroll 1 :)
I'll take your word on that, but I don't know. In answer to your question though, if you're going with a similar setup to what Jamie used (15a electronize and drill motor on 19.2v) and what Cicaxtrix rear pod used to use then it worked for that, so I assume it will work for you. One of my electronizes did go on fire, and the other died (surprisingly the one that went on fire survived) but they did work. The Scorpion was far easier to work with I found.
with 30a driving 2 motors at 12v i dont think we will have that problem :)
You will if you do what I did and connect the BEC to a live wire
ah, that would cause some MASSIVE problems :)
Just a small fire after a collision with Tiny Toon, but the speedo survived.
lian came over this weekend and we didnt get much robot building done, too busy riding down hills very quick on bikes
first, i couldnt weld my nuts to the plates i needed too use for ReAvenger (nuts and bolts style nuts, not the other kind :proud: ) since i found they were ali, not steel and trying to weld the two together is impossible!!!!!!!!!!! so i need 12 new STEEL nuts and bolts
Although, we did finally decide on a design for lian's new bot, but ill leave him to do the talking on that :)
And a steel company from around here are amazing and let my rumage through the skip of theirs and in doing so we found an old push lawnmower with cast iron body shell, so that is very helpfull :)

I'll take over here Matt thank you
The current concept we have for Avengeress is to go for a Maelstrom shaped bot, no flipper, just a wedge. I also have
a flipper bot idea, but it has to wait
got nearly all the wiring done today and by next week i hope me relay will be here. if it it then in the next 2-3 weeks, i should have something i can drive and make my actuator move, but designing the claws will have to come later
Update time.
Avengeress is gonna have a repaint. Black and Orange. Hopefully get something done with it
another update for me
got my drive systme working... sort of. the motors are turing but only one will respond to the RC gear
also, i aint figured out which channel is my actuator yet so that will take some time aswell
give me a week or 2, 3 at the most and you will see a robot back in my ownership :)
my whole system is now working, its now just a case of welding my supposts in my shell at the weekend, making my mounts and putting it all in :)
forgot to add my power light so i tried to add that but today was just not my day and i added it in the wrong place so it is only on with the link out
ill have to change that at the weekend. also, getting the final welding done on tuesday by a local company so i should have all my electrics inside the shell by next weekend, the its the job of ding my claws which will tak a week or two then just adding the graphics and the varnish to hold them all on. so give me a month and ill be ready to unleash hell
got the finaly welding done today, now all i need to do is get the base and lid mounted and altered slightly (nothing a blow torch and sone spare hdpe cant fix) and then get the mounts made. then its just a case of getting everything inside since the system already works :)
got the lid and base mounted yesterday, only a couple of minor alterations needed but it should be running by tomorow, i dont see why not but if not then for use next weekend :)
did a test at the weekend with temp mounts, it kinda worked, but the wheels need making larger so ill do that thursday and ill post a video up of it once its working, give it a week or two and i should have everything working in its perminent place (minus claws) then i can hjave some fun driving it and focus on getting my cash for mayhem :)
added a extra layer of tyre around to bring them upto 110mm which gave me good clearence. i was using the tempory mounts so it was all over the place but once i have my proper mounts made ill get a video up but im happy with the speed, its very quick. now i need to learn how to drive the thing :)
got my proper mounts made but i need to add some casters (thats thursdays job). once i have done that i feel it will be in a state good enough to let onto the forum :)
After dropping off the grid for a week i have no progress at all!
As is always the way, when you surface again I can't to robot stuff for the next couple of weekends. The next weekend I can do stuff on my bot is the start if summer, but ReAvenger has come a long way
We also want to welcome Ceri Jenkins from Team Psychostorm Robotics into out new alliance 'Robot Avengers'
It's complex but we are now a team, but we are also are own sub-teams to keep our own individual identity
been ages since i wrote here, got loads done, all the links are soldered in and everything is in place now. its all working... well... it was still my crap soldering gave way but it worked. now to get the claws designed and welded, ive not been looking forward to this
My part of the Team Avenger update
The Spike chassis is pretty much old and worn out and bent too much, i've been drawing up a couple of designs for
a whole new featherweight.
So far, me and Matt think having a featherweight version of Ming 2 would look awesome, we have the materials to build
its chassis.
Ive also been toying with the idea of a FW Hydra from RW Series 6 (the only incarnation that wasn't blue) but i think it
would be an even cooler antweight.
What do you think guys? (And Matt as he has not heard of my diddy Hydra idea yet)
go for antweight if you cant but feather would be better :)
hydra=awesome.
with some proper working out, i think we could do a FW hydra :)
On behalf of team robot avengers we wish to welcome our last team member and our first HW in the team, but what a way to end on welcoming Team enigma with his robot... STEEL AVENGER!!!!!! What a way to fill our team, and a very fitting name awell :)
bloody hell matt
Guessing you know of that little robot then? :D
i say again matt:
bloody hell
I'll take that as a compliment :)
which one of you's gonna be wearing the pointy steel chestplate?
