Right, finished them as far as they will be.
Dantomkia has drive on two wheels (roughly at the same time too), weighed in at 101.7kg with a full bottle of gas.
Went a bit mad with Hydra cutting out any bit of metal we could. At Whitwick it weighed in at 103.4kg (with 1.4kg of safety restraints). Weighed it yesterday and it weighed 97kg (with 1.4kg of safety restraints) and no gas. So an overall loss of 4.4kg which i was quite pleased with. It's still not finished but it'll be running, hopefully with one weapon and at about 30bar so it should be fun if it works (was running at 10bar before) :proud: .
Andy
LR Evo is ready - fur is on, weapon works, drive works. It's even got the boggle eyes!
Jonno, you seriously need a flame pit in the BattleRatz arena...
can anyone bring along a spare spektrum tx or the battery for a spektrum tx?
my battery is bust badly and would be good to have the 2 i need
if i don't reply to offers can you please presume i have accepted :proud: , might not check forum again and got very early start
so if anyone can help can you bring the said item to me at event
????? this would be great see y'all tmorrow
alex
hey anyone able to give me a lift 2 nottingham ?
Any updates at all from the weekend?
:)
Give them time, they were only one hour into the first show when you posted that :P
Oh, my bad
Anyway, I'll leave the question for them there for when the event does finish :)
Brief summary from Team Hydra's point of view:
Dantomkia worked!!! broke an axle then developed a gas leak then got a spanking off beast.
Hydra worked but the weapons failed. Couln't get under aha so got a spanking off aha.
Not good day but suppose it happens
Andy
A good event all round really.
Stinger worked€¦. For a little bit€¦. Problems with the receiver switches meant it was a bit unreliable for the two fights it did. Once I get 2 BEC€™s fitted it should be all good.
Craig€¦. Ive gained a lot more respect for you with St Hammer€¦.. didn€™t realise just how hard it would be to drive€¦. Try and turn it at speed and it flips over€¦ good fun though and loved seeing it run again.
Ripper is Back€¦. After a few months of development Ive finally cracked it, loved nearly selfrighting out of the arena was good fun, always nice to flip BEAST out too. LOL
Two really good entertaining shows, lots of good comments from people, just a shame they had no money to spend.
Thank you to Dave W, who yet again helped us till the end€¦.. he helped both EO€™s this weekend€¦ RL on Friday / Saturday and then us from 7am until we finished at 10pm yesterday. Also thanks to the 2 offers of help when they got to the venue, and the rest you know who you are.
The updated league table is up, there€™s a link on the front of the RR website. Videos will be on our You Tube account later tonight.

took us 4 and a quater hour to get home, And its only a 1 hour 20min journey normally. Slight bit of traffic on M1 last night.
tom if u used gainzys sat nav to get home im not surprised probs took u complete wrong way lol took bout hour to find the place from my house after u picked me up. sat nav took us there the looooonnnnng way
was good event, pinsors claws and the mechanism got wrecked again:( so im giving the whole robot a rest for a while whilst i go back to he drawing board because they obviously arnt strong enough but gives me time to get other unfinished robots up and running.
and nippers, you got a few more good hits on my 'shiney' lid again almost went thru aswell, ill get LH back at somepoint
What happened? Seeing as my claw mechanism is a fair bit weaker than yours, if I can learn what might need strengthened based on Pinsor's mechanism (as it's seen a good deal more combat than Carcinus) it can only be a good thing.Quote:
pinsors claws and the mechanism got wrecked again:(
I think his bent near a weld. His claws have loads of holes in too so that weakened them and also where the bars that push/pull his claws he has one side of the box section cut out of the claw as his bars pivot inside his claws. You have them on the outside so thats a bit stronger. Do you have any pics of your claws Jamie and the whole robot.
toms just about right
somehow ones bent in where 2 bits of box meet each other-where they've been welded, where the claws pivot the box section has twisted and distorted so its not box shaped anymore, where the pivot bolt goes into the claws i welded a section of steel plate and drilled through that aswell for the pivot bolt to make the hole strong through each side of the box section but even the holes in the 5mm thick steel plate have distorted/streched and you can wobble the claws up and down freely, one claws completly twisted anyway from major damage few events ago when i had to hammer it flat again. push rods goin from the actuator to each claw- holes on them are now pretty much like egg shapes and one is curved still from when major damage bent the claw up it bent the push rod with it.
not too sure about making the claws in the same way again thou because they might jus get damaged the same again, might look at getting some made properly like on kan opener, will have to see
but rest of the robots fine.
Thanks for a great event we really enjoyed it!
Maelstrom did have a couple of issues but still managed to win it's UK champs fight as well as retaining the Team Bud Challenge trophy (although we were very lucky to win)
also whirlwind finally worked properly with some great flips
took us ages as well to get to leeds :(Quote:

beauty 2 was still owning the arena, cnt wait for uk champs!
Not very good ones and not to hand at the moment but could possibly get some. Basically I've got four strips of 4mm aluminium (grade unknown), two for each claw, that connect between the linear actuator mounting hole and the claws. Kinda like the push-rods Calum's got but each rod is two separate pieces and bolt on to the outside of the claw like you said. The ends of the claws that mount onto the pivot rod in the robot are also little aluminium pieces with holes in them and they bolt on to the ends of the claws. So those ali parts will be the bits that fail first probably.Quote:

Doubt Carcinus is going to see too much punishing combat though so hopefully won't suffer too quickly. Unless I have a mad spell and enter it into the full comp at the next champs.
Any video of stinger at this event?
Vids are on our youtube account.... www.youtube.co.uk/roamingrobots
nottingham show opener 2010.m4v is the one with stinger.
I love driving it, even with its few problems !!! Nasty sting to its tail too !!
Hey guys
Well, that event could of gone better for cabrakan, but I was rather thankful I only had one weapon to deal with :P
Bit of proper fixing and some panel beating and I'll be back in business
Just something I wanted to ask: The league table is being updated but nobody's battle record is. Probably just a 'not had the time' thing, but no probs
Just watched that vid of AHA and Hydra, not quite as bad as it seemed at the time but I bet the front of your scoop of not quite as sharp as it was Clive
That said it was a nice bit of driving from Alex.
Andy
Thanks Andy he was bricking it before the fight though.  Have to get the grinder out again ready for Burgess Hill. :D
And guess what I'll be doing over easter.........................I'll give you a clue, it involves some steel feet and an angle grinder and some steel feet  :rofl:Quote:

Hi Jonno,
Stinger looks like it is doing well, now you know how hard it is to hit anything! Really looking forward to a Stinger, St Hammer fight should be cool. Perhaps for the team bud trophy or just for fun, soon Stinger will be your robot of choice, just because it will always make you smile when you drive it. :D
well ive got the best of both worlds !!
Ripper is really rocking, ive put a lot of effort into it so it will be able to really challenge for the uk champs this year, still a bit of tweaking left.
And stinger is just crazy .... yes i now undertand how hard it is, i didnt think it was easy though... but it is brill fun to play with !!
Looking forward to burgass hill even more now. If your going... Stinger vs St hammer even if its in a break... just for fun !!
Can't make Burgass Hill will be seeing the Pope :uhoh: or at least the Vatican but hope to make the nex few events
Was a real good event, a bit frantic, especially jonno running around like a headless chicken, but LR Evo worked a treat.
Was taught about the dip-switches there as well. cheers dave :)
met lots of people, talked to them, discussed robots, etc.
See you at aylesbury guys :)
Apollo will be ready :)
