Roaming Robots

I have done all i can for now to get Envy ready....found a couple of faults including a dodgy anderson. Complete uprated Pneumatic system ready and tested. New wheel and a rewire done. Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone :)

New lighter flipper, lower so it should self right easier. Rewire. New seals in the rams. Upgrades to flowrate. Dodgy battery replaced. Weight loss. New gas saving methods on board.

Its had its xmas rebuild early. :-) only thing that s missin is new paint. But thats for wigan if it gets through. :-)

Beat the lot of you.Parcelforce lost my batteries :( then found them again :) ,got them 5.00 wednesday evening,worked till the late hours no signal on the RoboteQ. Thursday morning 7.00 found out that the rx got broken at Reading when flipped by Iron Awe :( Robbed Tiny Toon. :)
Rebuilt the whole shooting match in my dinner break at work, And His Army was awesome until the RoboteQ blew. :cry: :cry: it lasted 8 minutes. :cry:
Must remember not to leave it near Stagefright. :angry:

Well, all hands to the pump tomorrow cos we don't have anything finished yet and the first time Hydra will be tested will be in the fight with Iron Awe and Terrorhurtz!! It may also be the first time we test the pneumatics cos unless I find some gas somewhere it aint gonna be tested. Alex has a lot to answer for. Not only did he draw Thor and Terrorhurtz for us, we ended up with Hydra in the first show so not even a whiteboard to test it in first.

SMIDSY's wheels got stuck back together yesterday with some araldite so should be interesting. After a chat with Shane last night I've also re-inforced it with some gaffa tape so should hold up quite well to Thor :rofl: (or at least when it fails it'll be spectacular!!). Also thinking of sticking a cloth over it to stop the worst of Thors blows.

Well, it's like this, the arms not finished, the electrics aren't fitted, the air system is in bits, the paints still in the pot and the old robot has no motors. Break out the gaffer tape and cable ties. :proud:

slight scare. . Said to kirsti i'm just nipping in the garage to put the ram tops back on and the batteries in. . . I'll be back in 15 mins. . . . 2 hours later rams won't in back down. :-(

all sorted now. Ready to beat beast. As usuall. :-)

i think our robots working havnt tested it since reading lol, urrr the chain looks a bit dodge (i dont think a ia5, tilly, maelstrom and behemoth onsought is good for it lol :P) but i have shanes word that it works :P need to figure out how to charge the tx lol, hit the side righters with a hammer so it should all be ok :mrgreen: :uhoh: batterys are being a a*se, need to test them on the day :uhoh: feather is in bits, as usual, needtom to give it the once over :mrgreen: ants packed, i promise they work this time :proud: ... :uhoh:

Ant is charged and ready for tis first fight ever lol, FW has literally just been finished and has new hdpe wheel guards and fronts. Last minute but at least its working :P.

The arms finished :D , the electrics are fitted :D , a working air system is now fitted :D but the paints still in the pot.....and it's staying there. :lol: See you all tommorrow.

just got back all i can say is great event thanx again to RR

the last 7 teams all on 14 points so 13 got through!!!

Excellent event, a bit stressful but really pleased with how it went.

Hydra worked ok, new flipper shape a success, flipper bungee return worked ok but persistent gas leaks so not able to get an idea of how well it performs yet.

Now, for all you doubters here are the results of SMIDSY's competition fight:

1st - SMIDSY
2nd - St Hammer
3rd - Thor

Not even a scratch on the paintwork!

SO just as a reminder I believe the competition results are Team Hydra 3 - 0 Team Bud!!

Suppose no amount of new axe heads help when you don't build your robot properly :rofl:

twas a good event, thanks to RR for hosting it :)

orrion (or mythras for 1 event only :P) lost its fight (was that such a suprise XD?) with us getting stuck on the rail, well done to beast :)

the feather fought lol :P well first match it died but second we actualy moved....then our link came out (damn you hunter :P) oh and to add insult to injury, MD squashed us...and then we went flying on the flipper....then got thrown oota :P but it was great fun (might be the end of that rx on thants tho eh tom? :rofl: )

A big thanks to Jonno, Pete Lale and John Bell for lending us the bits and pieces that enabled us to fight at Maidstone.We would't have got very far without batteries or a speed controller.
Two weeks to go till Wigan.We need to change back the modifications made by Thz as we have decided that we preferred the old shape.Weld the motor supports back where they should be and not where John Reid left them.Give And His Army a nice new shiny paint job and then the biggest problem, the weight issue.Just where can i secure 20 kilos of ballast? :lol: :lol:

Pressure's battery pack went up in smoke the day before! :shock: (I don't have spares) and
Skink's, already damaged, flipper (thanks Shane! :angry: ) also got more damage and is on the verge of falling apart. :(
