I think not. Just be sure you are there to vouch for them if anyone questions them.

hiya.
Info email will come when i get home. . . You'll be reading it in the morning so don't wait up. :-) just finishing fitting the new bottom floor to the panels so should have a nice new fresh floor to play on.
The arena has changed yet again. . . Another experiment. . Quite radical :-) still got bits and bobs to finish tonight before loading in the morning.
That's great. I have the 30m video cable for the antweight arena now. And I also will be bringing an extra team member
Simon
well my brother decided he didn't want to come so its just me and my dad anyway .
John : thanks for the recommendation for the planet 5 2.4 ghz systems, picked one up on Friday night and there fantastic !!!! and only 35 quid. so all radio problems sorted and
robots are working.:)
Does anyone have a spare 600g CO2 bottle that they could bring tomorrow??
Thanks
quite urgent, does anybody have a spare power light i can borrow for tomorrow. Ive been ripping things apart looking for leds and ive got nothing, to late to order stuff . needs to run on 9.6 V
Well, how did it all go?
Many thanks to the Roaming Robots team for all their efforts today, Zack and I had a very good time running The Saint and Tron we also took The Pilgrim (walker) that seamed to go ok too. :D
Many thanks for all the kind words everyone spoke about it.
The crowed liked the shows and so they should there was lots of good fights, and even The Saint did ok. :uhoh:
Hope to get some videos on u-tube soon. :proud:
Thanks again to Jonno and the crew.
Hydra was on fire for this event and not like at Guildford. Great fight with Thor for our first fight (once wierd alice had died) great to see Hydra trading blows and holding its own very well. lost though but that's cos we opened the pit too late for him to drive in  (friendly whiteboard my arse)
Second fight was good too lots of good driving from Luke seems he does actually listen to me when we look at the videos. (although I would have preferred he had not listened to the 'go out hard go out agressive and let them know you're there' in the first fight.)
Just have to point out to team bud that that 2-0 to Hydra with Envy in competitions and we were going to replace those body panels anyway
Vids on line soon but picked a bad position to film from as we got a lot of glare on the screen.
Andy
Thanks to Roaming Robots for putting on a great event.
My driving was absolutely rubbish for most of the day (Maelstrom ended up in the pit 5 times in all- how I managed to drive into the pit three times in the same fight still remains a mystery.)
Matt enjoyed the event- he somehow managed to win 3 out of 4 fights (as long as he doesn't do it again  )
Thanks to Jonno and the crew for another great event.
Big thanks to John Bell and John Lear for helping get And His Army into the arena with seconds to spare.we wouldn't have made it without you. At least Beast won't have to face Alex again before Wigan John, b*****y kids.
It must have been the day for last minute panics.Final f/w whiteboard Sarah Bell to drive Tiny Toon, and the Victors wouldn't lock out with 1 fight before the robots are due to go in the arena.Take the lid off,try a different rx, try a rx battery instead of the bec, put the original rx back in and rebind it.Success. Put the lid back on try the transmitter, it still works. Now find out that you have the wrong transmitter in your hands all of the time. DOH
Stagefright didn't blow up, or misbehave all weekend. It just sat in the back of the car coz its wheel fell off.

Now all you have to do is find where I hid that pit magnet on Maelstrom. It's only a little one but it's very very powerful.
:P
Well Mr Hydra man. Just watched the vid you was so kind to put on youtube. I think we should put that fight to the forum vote myself. Mr Stu must have been asleep is all i can say :)
HAHAHA! If I wasn't so smug I might agree with you! :proud: As it's the first time Hydra's won in competition this year I'll just say that Stu is a fair and benevolant judge whos decisions should not be questioned. That said Hydra did pit Merlin as well.Quote:

By the way, I really really like the new arena. Well done to the Roaming Robots crew. I was a bit aprehensive about what to expect with the new arena but I for one thought it was fantastic.
Andy
If we're voting, I give my unbiased opinion that Envy won it :P
(...Shane didn't ask me to do this at all. Honest. Totally. Although he kind of did but asked for and got a honest unbiased opinion :P)
Just to add Joey i also didnt ask you to ask your friends to vote either. :)

Next time, look at the jury with a look at me, I've won! expression on your face, and you're done ;)
Oh right, and the new arena does look good Jonno, and loadingthe robots into it is very easy, and also the polycarbonate facing the crowd stays nice and clean. Great event, and got me back onto the right track again! So see you guys in 2010 ;)
Final fight

Finally back on planet earth... what a weekend. I think now I€™m 30, my body cant take it anymore !! LOL.
Well Portsmouth is now known as a stressful event, every year I make changes and cant test build it and have to keep my fingers crossed it all fits together.
Few issues but it went together quite smoothly, considering we had to drill holes and finish bits off. There has been some good comments about the changes, done purely for logistical reasons, it now means if we want we can get it built in less than 6 hours.
Well done to the winners, thanks for everyone who took part, another two successful shows done south, and rebooked for next year. The fights will be on You Tube later this week.
There has been a lot of hard work behind the scenes, Everyone knows how close I was to giving up, but after going back to basics and cutting unnecessary costs, have turned things around. Ok so numbers were down, but with the changes meant it was actually a profitable event. !!
So one last event before the finals, I€™ll be putting a closing deadline of 31st October 2009 for HW entries for the final at Wigan. We need to know who is and isn€™t coming.
6 weeks until Maidstone and a lot of work to do to get the tickets sold once again.

What were the main changes to the arena? Can't quite tell fully from the vids but it looks like there's no exclusion zone anymore?
Congrats on making it a profitable event Jonno - you've taken losses from events so often previously, you deserve a break :)
hiya,
yeah to the untrained eye.. especially from an audience point of view there isnt that much difference.
However, after the introduction of the cages, I felt that our polycarb exclusion zone was a waste of time, as there was no way any robots would ever be flipped into it, and was just a walk way around the arena.
So the polycarb is now attached to the cages, which means when we build the arena it is so much shorter in time, heavier work, but less of it. We used to have 22 polycarb sheets, we now have 12 cage/polycarb to fit which just slot into the barriers, and 5 big front poly panels for the audience to see through.
We still have the exclusion zone at the front, but originally it was only 1m, then we extended it with our flip out / drive back in to 1.5m, and now its 2m, which gives an easier walkway through with robots, and if a robot gets flipped out, it isn€™t going to hit the polycarb, much safer.
There were some other slight changes, behind the scenes which no one would know, but the basics, are going back 5 years, back to basics like the old hexagon arena, people come to see the robots fighting in the arena, and don€™t necessarily care about the other stuff.
One addition also was the antweights, they were extremely popular, and hopefully they will be with us again. They were out by the merchandise which was a great idea, who ever decided that !!!
The arena has now been put into secure storage which is another cost saving, find a manager who loves robot wars, tell him you want to put major damage and an arena in his place, and make it available for any pr work, and negotiating a good deal is easy€¦ a clear £250 saving each month. !! Just got to move out of my unit by Friday. Big task !!
It all helps.
Well stop whinging and get on with it then.....jeeeeeeeeeeees
Thanks for another great event Jonno, I really enjoyed it, was knackered by the end, as I'm sure you were :) I'm glad you liked the ants, they willbe a regular feature at all Roaming Robots events from now on, and its nice to get a mention :)
Hopefully we can have them on the big screen next time, what happened there anyway ? The screens just wouldn't stay up...
yeah, i made some new brackets to fit on some new wind up stands, however it was blowing a gale for 3 days in Nottm before portsmouth and didnt have a lot of time, so couldnt test them, just need a bit more support. So couldn't get them up !! excuse the pun !! LOL
Yes was very impressed, and thankyou again for your help setting up, and taking down !! As always much appreciated !!
Will be sorted for maidstone !!
Yes, a big thanks from us as well for the great site given to the antweight arena. We tried to stay running all day, between the main arena fights.
When the screens get sorted then there will be something for the audience to watch between the big fights.
I'm encouraging all antweight roboteers to build run all day bots, a bit like your battle rats John. The basic rule is that they can be overweight with a 9V Duracell in them, but enough underweight without the 9V battery to allow for a small LiPo battery.
A 9V Duracell lasts for over two hours of fighting time, and as long as the parts are open to the air then they don't overheat.
Simon
Don't forget guys there will also be an advert for the Battle Ratz coming out soon!
Jonno
Will you be doing the competition board soon? I think The Saint may be in the top 10 :D :D :D

Not that it's important to anyone else except me and Luke but how can Hydra (6 points) be below Wierd Alice & White Knight (both on 5 points)?
