I think he already has reserved you a space Steven :proud:
Hey, it was nearly 6am and I was just succumbing to sleep. :lame:
At any rate, heres my entries:
1) Spin Dash Unleashed
2) Turbo Tails
3) Venus Fly Trap
4) Jack-in-the-Box (NEW)
Wedge 3mm (AW)
Rolling Pin FTW (NEW FW)
Minigig (LW)
Killoteeny (MW)
Revolver (SHW)
1) Spin Dash Unleashed (HW)
SHAPE- skirted box, with rounded sides and back.
COLOUR- dark blue bodywork, with red-and-white striped skirting.
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 75cm X 20cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm all round, 10mm at sides and rear without skirts.
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
MOVEMENT- inner, 6WD
POWER- 2 x LEM-130s. These run at 36v and produce approximately 18hp.
WEAPONS- A horizontal Pussycat-style saw blade on the front. The blade is mounted on the underbelly ala Code:BLACK and is designed to chew up skirts and wheels. It is powered by an S28-150 Magmotor and runs at 3000rpm. Its 18hp and shape also makes it an excellent battering ram.
SRIMECH- invertible. The rounded sides and rear also prevent it getting beached.
NOTES- flies Scotland flag.
STRENGTHS- excellent traction, fast, tough armour, low weaponry, invertible
WEAKNESSES- untested, so-so manoueverability, saw blade less effective upside-down
PIC- http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/5359/spindash6ta1.pnghttp://img137.imageshack.us/img137/5...indash6ta1.png
2) Turbo Tails (HW)
SHAPE- short box with front wedge, sloped sides & rounded rear
COLOUR- yellow with the foxs face looking particularly evil on the front slope
WEIGHT- approx 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 75cm X 25cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- approx 0mm at front (titanium blade), 8mm everywhere else
ARMOUR- 3.5mm monocoque Hardox, with 2mm yellow fur over that.
MOVEMENT- 4 inner wheels
POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors. Can produce approximately 12hp.
WEAPONS- Tails chief weapon is the horizontal spinning blade. Now mounted on top, its a bit heavier than before and has Fluffy-style heads instead of the old hammers. Its powered by an LEM-130 running at 36v and has top speeds of around 2500rpm, so its definately just as deadly as before - if not, more so!
The front wedge also hosts a forward-hinged flipping arm, powered by an 80mm x 20mm full-pressure CO2 ram. The arm operates at 750psi, giving it a fair bit of oomph, and stores its gas in a 2kg main bottle. Capable of just over 30 fires per fight.
SRIMECH- The flipper. Sloped sides and rounded rear also prevent it getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to AJ
STRENGTHS- weapons synergy, touger armour, fast, fairly compact, greater pushing power
WEAKNESSES- not quite as manouverable as before, flammability, wholl take it seriously?
PIC- http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/7952/turbotailslongered5.pnghttp://img84.imageshack.us/img84/795...slongered5.png
3. Venus Fly Trap (HW)
SHAPE- wedge with sloped rear
COLOUR- green with an ugly great mouth
WEIGHT- 100kg, I hope
DIMENSIONS- 110cm X 70cm X 30cm
SPEED- 12mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 8mm
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
MOVEMENT- four inner wheels
POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors. These will run at 36v and produce approximately 12hp.
WEAPONS- a large electric lifting plate fitted with barbs ala Mute. The idea is that the plate slides under an opponent and the barbs catch the wheels. The plate then lifts up and clamps the opponent onto the wedge. The plate is powered by an S28-400 MagMotor geared 250:1 for smooth and quick movement. To ensure it wont tip over trying to lift an opponent, Venus is fitted with a pair of long static forks on the front, made from 4mm Hardox.
SRIMECH- a separate electric arm on the wedge. Powered by a separate S28-400 MagMotor geared 250:1 for quick and easy self-righting.
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, thanks to Martijn and AJ for helping with the design
STRENGTHS- good traction, tough shell, fairly manoueverable, unique weapon
WEAKNESSES- untested weapon, exposed ground clearance, potentially vulnerable spikes
PIC- http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/6827/venusflytraplastgb9.pnghttp://img523.imageshack.us/img523/6...raplastgb9.png
4. Jack-in-the-Box (HW)
SHAPE- skirted box with sloped sides, ala Beta
COLOUR- red, with a jesters head painted on the top
WEIGHT- 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 100cm X 25cm
SPEED- 15mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 10mm, but the wedges and Biohazard-esque skirts combined should give almost 0mm.
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
MOVEMENT- 4 inner wheels
POWER- 2 X S28-400 MagMotors; 3 x 12v 12amp NiCad packs, giving 36v
WEAPONS- the entire top panel of the robot is a flipping device, powered by 2 x 39mm Dia high-pressure rams and giving roughly the same flipping power as Mute. What way is it hinged? No way. The flipper fires straight up like, well, a jack-in-the-box.
SRIMECH- The flipper. Hopefully.
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, thanks to Joey for help
STRENGTHS- fast, strong, manoueverable, pushing power, powerful weapon, very difficult to get under
WEAKNESSES- It might have even more self-righting issues than Mute
PIC- http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/5052/jackintheboxdc5.pnghttp://img210.imageshack.us/img210/5...ntheboxdc5.png
As for the otherweights...
NAME- Wedge 3mm (AW)
SHAPE- low box with front wedge (very similar to Mute)
COLOUR- light grey
WEIGHT- about 150g
DIMENSIONS- 8cm X 5cm X 3cm
SPEED- 40cm per second
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, about 4mm at the sides and rear to aid manoeuvrability
ARMOUR- 1mm polycarbonate, with 2mm for the front wedge (just in case )
WHEELS- inside robot, 2 X 30mm wheels
POWER- a NiMh 4.8v battery with 9g HS-55 servos
WEAPONS- The main weapon is a broad flipping arm with Chaos 2-style front plate attached (bent at the end ala Bigger Brother to aid in slipping under other bots). The arm is top-hinged (ala Tsunami, Chaos 2 etc) and is powered by Lego pneumatics at 100psi.
The whole set-up weighs 36g, including the 15g ram, 3g pneumatic Lego switch, 15g aluminium pressure tank and 5g servo to activate the switch. This should be able to flip other Ants about 10cm up and about 15cm forward!
SRIMECH- flipper, rounded back, 1 little grey semi-sphere on either side of robot to prevent getting stuck on its side
NOTES- wee flashing red light on top of robot, flies Scotland flag, just a scaled-down version of Wedge 3 (in case you hadn€™t noticed! )
STRENGTHS- powerful flipper, tough armour, fast, manoeuvrable
WEAKNESSES- could be a bit tricky to control, lack of skirts, iffy traction
PIC- http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/2463/wedge3mmzy1.pnghttp://img113.imageshack.us/img113/2463/wedge3mmzy1.png
NAME- Rolling Pin FTW (FW)
SHAPE- cylinder ala Barberous
COLOUR- brown
WEIGHT- approx 13kg
DIMENSIONS- 30cm X 50cm X 20cm
SPEED- 15mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 10mm
ARMOUR- 3mm titanium monocoque body
MOVEMENT- 2 x outer wheels with a rolling pin handle on each
POWER- 2 X 9.6v drill motors, running on 12v. The motors run on 4000Mah NiCad€™s, resulting in a 4amp battery
WEAPONS- Why, the robot itself. Rolling Pin FTW is armed with a full-body spinning drum, powered by a Speed 900 at 24v, with a second 4amp battery powering it. The drum can reach speeds of 2000rpm for the perfect balance of spin-up and slaughter.
SRIMECH- invertible
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, cheers to Joey for help
STRENGTHS- Fairly destructive, fast, manoueverable, well protected
WEAKNESSES- low pushing power, may prove tricky to control
PIC- http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/517/rollingpinftwhs5.pnghttp://img210.imageshack.us/img210/5...gpinftwhs5.png
NAME- Minigig (LW)
SHAPE- low disc
COLOUR- bright yellow with Mauler-style face on top and bottom to show direction
WEIGHT- about 27kg. I hope.
DIMENSIONS- 60cm X 60cm X 25cm
SPEED- 15mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- about 5mm
ARMOUR- 3.2mm hardox for the shell and 3 mil polycarbonate for the rest
WHEELS- inside robot, 2WD
POWER- uses 2 X 18v drill motors at 24v for the drive, uses 24v at 6amp of NiCads for the main power supply
WEAPONS- The main weapon is the 6kg rotating shell. Equipped with 9 little Pussycat-style teeth (3 along the top, 3 along the middle and 3 along the bottom) and powered by a LEMCO-130 at 24v, the spinner can reach speeds of up to 1800rpm in about 3 seconds...should be enough to gut a few of the poorly armoured.
SRIMECH- the robot is invertible and the blades prevent Whirly landing on his side
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful weapon, fast, very manoueverable, tough armour
WEAKNESSES- could prove vulnerable to flippers, tricky to control
PIC- http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/9251/minigigjg7.pnghttp://img205.imageshack.us/img205/9251/minigigjg7.png
NAME- Killoteeny (MW)
SHAPE- compact box shape with a front Storm 2-style wedge and a rounded rear
COLOUR- red
WEIGHT- about 50kg
DIMENSIONS- 80cm X 60cm X 25cm
SPEED- about 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, 5mm at sides and back without skirts, 0mm at sides and back with skirts
ARMOUR- 5mm polycarbonate
WHEELS- inside robot, 4WD
POWER- 2 X S28-150s, running at 24v
WEAPONS- The main weapon is the large 180 degree pneumatic axe, very similar to that of Killerhurtz, which operates ala a rack-and-pinion system like Terrorhurtz. Running on 160psi, it really packs more than a punch and can very easily self-right the machine.
Also, if anything should happen to the axe, then the robot can use the low wedge and great pushing power to resort to a Tornado-style tactic - ram to death!
SRIMECH- The axe. Even if it€™s already been fired while flipped, the axe can right itself ala Killerhurtz, aided by a rounded back. Also, the machine has a rounded back and a red semi-sphere on either side of robot to stop it landing on its side.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- Fast, dangerous weapon, good amount of traction, difficult to get under, quick srimech, quite good armour
WEAKNESSES- so-so turning
PIC- http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/3106/killoteenytj6.pnghttp://img366.imageshack.us/img366/3...loteenytj6.png
NAME- Revolver (SHW)
SHAPE- box wi skirted sides and rear
COLOUR- painted like the infamous Yellow Submarine with portholes on the sides n that, with red hinged skirting and the cover for the album Revolver pasted on the top
WEIGHT- under 145kg, hopefully
DIMENSIONS- 110cm X 75cm X 28cm
SPEED- 18mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- 10mm all over without skirts, 0mm at sides n rear with em
ARMOUR- 6.75mm monocoque Hardox. Booyah.
MOVEMENT- 4 inner wheels and a little caster on top/bottom at the front for balance
POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors, running at 36v (should give about 12hp, I think)
WEAPONS- The main weapon here is a large horizontal spinning disc at the front resembling an LP record. This is powered by an LEM-130 motor at 36v and runs at around 2500rpm. The flywheel bears two Hardox teeth (curved ala Pussycats), making it ideal for ripping into the other contestants. It could also charge at other competitors, get under them with the skirt and become a passive rammer should things start to get hairy.
SRIMECH- invertible
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful disc, fast, manoueverable, pushing power, invertible
WEAKNESSES- wheels exposed to overhead attacks, control could be an issue
PIC- http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/2271/revolverpq1.pnghttp://img526.imageshack.us/img526/2271/revolverpq1.png
Hope thats all OK, Joey :)
Just letting everyone know I might be changing my lineup slightly. Got some new ideas I want to try out. Watch this space! :proud:
No not that space, this space STOP LOOKING AT ME!!!
Quick post because Im a bit tired, heh :P
Elliot: All fine :)
Steve: All entries fine by the looks of things.
Dan: You can change the lineup until the heats are posted. That wont be for a while though I dont think
Right, here is the 100% final lineup. :proud:
Fling
Dimensions (LxWxH): 100cm x 80cm x 40cm
Shape: Shallow wedge with angled sides and a shaped rear to stop it getting stranded, as well as keeping the wheels on the ground if going up a wedged robot or a ramp. On the bottom of the wedge is a wedge extender, making the ground clearance 0mm.
Colour: Half black and half white, with white decoration on the black side and black decoration on the white side. Celtic bands painted throughout the robot.
Weight: 100kg.
Drive: 2 Sinclair C5 Motors running at 24v, powered by Nicad Batteries.
Batteries: 3x 3000mAh Nicads at 24v, giving 9Ah. These power both the drive and the winch needed for the weapon.
Top Speed: Roughly 15 to 20mph.
Wheels: 2 x 20cm diameter go-kart wheels filled with expanding foam instead of air. These are positioned at the back of the machine.
Armour: 4mm Hardox for the wedge extender, 8mm Titanium on the sides and 6mm Titanium everywhere else.
Weaponry: A €œleaf spring€ flipper mounted on the front of the machine. The concept is similar to Team Whyachi€™s Red Square, but with the flipper on an angle to toss robots lengthways AND upwards. Can you say OOTA? . The flipper plate itself is made from a tempered piece of 1 thick Titanium/Vanadium alloy, designed to spring back to a curved shape once it has been flattened. One section is fastened securely to the top of the wedge, with the tempered edge winched down so it lies flush with the rest of the wedge. When a robot is on the front wedge, the free end is released and the opponent is sent not only upwards, but also away from the machine. The flipping plate is winched down by an S28-150 Magmotor running at 24v, geared down 400:1.
Turning circle: 0m.
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 2cm at the back, varying between both on the sides.
Srimech: Flipper.
Squish Reincarnated
Dimensions (L x W x H): 80cm x 65cm x 40cm
Shape: Boxy wedge, with angled sides and side skirts made from 5mm Titanium. The top of the machine comes to a point, thereby making it land on its side if flipped.
Colour: Black with two enormous Anime-style red eyes on each side of the weapon.
Weight: 100kg
Drive: 4 x S28-150 MagMotors running at 24v, powered by some 24v NiCad batteries.
Top Speed: About 12mph.
Wheels: 4 x 15cm diameter Titanium wheels, coated with Vulcalore for added grip.
Armour: 7mm Titanium all over, with the front wedge reinforced with a layer of 3.5mm Hardox. Base-plate is 8mm Polycarbonate.
Weaponry: Embedded in the front wedge is a crushing claw, similar to that of Sir Killalot or Crushtacean. It is made from 2cm thick Titanium and the bottom part of the jaw is designed to be flush with the front wedge. The top part of the jaw is jagged. The jaw is powered by a 80mm x 40mm hydraulic ram powered by a Vivoil pump. The pump is powered by an S28-400 MagMotor running at 24v, powered by 24v NiCad batteries. The claw runs at 3000psi. The main premise of the weaponry is to lift and crush at the same time.
Turning Circle: 0m
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front and sides, 7mm on back.
Srimech: An arm on each side of the robot extends from the main body each time the claw/lifter is activated. Each arm is made from 1cm Polycarbonate.
MacBeth
Dimensions (L x W x H): 85cm x 75cm x 40cm
Shape: Invertible box, sides are slanted. The rear of the robot is completely vertical, like a normal box, but on the sides are two scooped blades that can be used when inverted.
Colour: Bright yellow with dark yellow trim.
Weight: 100kg
Drive: 2 x 750w Bosch motors running at 24v, powered by a bunch of 24v NiCad batteries.
Top Speed: 20mph, but stays at a conservative 14mph.
Wheels: 2 x 44cm diameter, 20cm wide Titanium/Vanadium alloy hubs, coated in Vulcalon for extra grip on the arena floor. Casters at the front of the machine (one on the top and one on the bottom) aid in manouverability and turning.
Armour: The whole robot covered in 2cm Polypropylene (light but incredibly strong), and according to Matweb weighs a total of 34kg. The rear scooped blades are made from 1cm thick Aluminium alloy.
Weaponry: At the front of the robot is a hefty spinning disc, 40cm in diameter and 3cm thick. It is made from Titanium and has 2 large Titanium blades attached to it, each weighing 5kg. In total the disc weighs 26kg. The weaponry is powered by a LEM130 Lynch motor at 36v geared down to the top speed of the blade is 1500RPM. The motor is powered by some 36v NiCads. The weapon is mounted differently compared to other horizontal spinners - it is placed on the underside of the robot so it can attack like an undercutter (like TopBot in RW).
Turning Circle: 0m
Ground Clearance: 4mm at front (protected by the spinner), 0mm at the back (due to the scooped blades) and 6mm at the sides.
Srimech: Invertible.
Monsoon Season :new:
Dimensions (L x W x H): 80cm x 70cm x 35cm
Shape: Box wedge, slanted sides and steep rear wedge.
Colour: The main body shell is black, with the flipper/ramming plate in bright green. The sides of the machine have skulls drawn on them in the same colour green as the flipper/ramming plate.
Weight: 110kg
Drive: 2 x LEM130s running at 36v, powered by a bunch of 36v NiCads.
Top Speed: Approx 15mph.
Tracks: This version of Monsoon has tracks instead of wheels, therefore allowing me to have an extra 10kg of weight in the machine. The tracks are made from Titanium/Vanadium alloy and have Vulcalon pads on every section of track in order to fully incorporate grip on the arena floor.
Armour: The baseplate is 5mm Titanium. The main body shell is constructed from a single piece of 30mm HDPE. The flipper/ramming plate is made from 4mm Hardox and covers the whole of the front of the machine.
Weaponry: At the front of the machine is a 4mm Hardox flipper/ramming plate, similar in style to Atomic from Series 7 of Robot Wars. The flipper/ramming plate is powered by 2 x 80mm bore 60mm stroke pneumatic rams, run off CO2 gas contained at 1000psi. The gas is held in 3 x 1.1kg CO2 gas canisters inside the robot, and should allow for plenty of flips in a battle (roughly 35 flips). The front of the machine can also be used as a ramming plate, allowing Monsoon Season to use its enormous pushing power as well as the ability to flip its opponents clean out of the arena.
Turning Circle: 0m
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 7mm at sides and back.
Srimech: Flipper.
Hope these are ok, Joey. :)

The summary of all this is:
All of Dans updated entries are fine, glad you finally decided on a lineup :P
Martyn has sort of agreed to enter
There is (I think) one space remaining...Aaron? Leo? Someone else?
If its not too much trouble, would people give me a location I can use in the intro, to save me saying From England, The Failbot! or similar? PLEASE DONT TELL ME IF ITS BEEN STATED OR I ALREADY KNOW, NO SPAMMING PLZKTHX. :P
I shall be on the forums only, and then intermittently, for about a week so email me if any problems arise that require my attention.
Thank you all for entering so far, and for all the messages of encouragement :)
Will From Lancashire be OK for me, Joey?
From Milton Keynes/Bedford will be fine over here
Right, I have decided on my machines... they shall be:
Action Control
Assegai
Hypertension Mk 3.5
Roo Of All evil
From Orpington, Kent for me Joey.
From Vancouver, British Columbia for me, sil vous plait. :proud:
OK, seeing as there is a space open, Ill enter.
Ill be entering...
Leprosy Infection
Mega Masher 2
Cyclone Force 3
Axe-O-Lotl
Stats should be in the usual spot, and Im representing Onehouse in Suffolk.
from Richmond, in Surrey will be fine for me joey
oh and can i enter skink in the feathers
Cardiff, Wales
Im from Liverpool, England :)
Everyone except for Lewis I was aware of already :P (just Lancashire is fine btw, Richie)
Chris: Dimensions please, for most of them. Also I suspect that Cyclone Force 3 is somewhat overweight, with the 11mm Ti (presumably all around) and the interchangable weapons. If Storm II couldnt manage it, you probably cant :proud:
Also ground clearances are somewhat vague (6mm, presumably all around? I will be forced to assume from that that any skirted areas are 6mm too :P), as are, come to think of it, the rest of the stats. Is it too much to ask that you make them a bit more detailed and tell me what weapons are made of, give power other than same things as other robot, and other things? I have decided to to maintain a standard for entries here, I cant make exceptions because thats the way youve always done it.
Jack: Yep, you can enter Skink in the feathers.
Full list up next time I can get online, the last space will be filled either by Chris (if he sorts his stats out) or the first person who hasnt already entered that can come up with four decent robots.
EDIT: Elliot, just noticed theres no motors in Skullcrusher, if you have trouble working out which to use my table (yep, blatant plugging ftw :P) might help:

Skullcrusher uses 2 750watt motors
Hope its OK
Is should be, yeah...theres a few 750 watt motors (none as used by Firestorm unfortunately, cant remember what they had motor wise :P) but Ill assume theyre Bosch 750s on 24v, as used by Pussycat, Anvil, Hellbent, Bigger Brother, and more. Good little motors those are. :)
Joey, when your child wants to learn to swim, you dont just throw it in the deep end of a swimming pool.
What Im saying is that IS kinda asking for quite a considerable amount...I can get updated stats, but theres no way you can expect me to pull off ALL of that information in one go.
Thing is, Chris, youve been here for ages (like 2003?) so everybody assumes youve got the information already (not saying its right but thats pretty much whats happened, just like with Tony IIRC, although he was here for a much shorter period of time). Kinda shocking when we find out you dont.
Joey, when your child wants to learn to swim, you dont just throw it in the deep end of a swimming pool.
Well actually... :proud:
Thats all very well, but theres the issue...and this is extremely important...of whether I understand it or not.
If we take Mega Masher 2, for instance. Its got a weight, body shape, dimensions, top speed, TC, GC, Armour, Power for the drive, power for the weapon, THE weapon, what it does...now, as far as Im concerned, and as far as Ive gathered from what Ive seen from Robot Wars and the competitors websites, thats enough. The fact that youre now telling me that I HAVE to talk about the weapon motor voltage, a concept Ive got no chance of understanding, throws me completely.
As far as Im concerned, Ive got the vitals and thats enough. I know that the more detail, the better...but surely it could go to the point of rediculous-ness. I mean, I dont even want to consider the possibility of having to describe the EXACT shade of red it is.
I appriciate you all for helping me, but youre throwing too much stuff at me, stuff I simply dont need all in one go.
Ill try my best to update the stats as best I can. But I cant do more than I understand, Im afraid.
Ive tried to give the stats an update. But this really is pushing my limits somewhat.
CYCLONE FORCE 3
Weight; 100 kilos
Body Shape; Low invertable box, kinda like Storm 2, but without the wedge. Only 80cm in length and width and 30cm high.
Speed; 20mph
TC; 0
GC; Side is 0mm due to skirts. Otherwise, 10mm. See set-ups for front GC
Wheels; 6 inner
Armour; 8mm Titanium.
Power; LEM130s at 36 volts, ala Storm 2. 3x12v batteries.
Colour; A blue-ish grey tone all over.
Weapons; The robot has 3 set-ups...
SET UP 1...An electric lifter device, similar to Storm 2. In theory, it can lift 190 kilos. The front makes a wedge and results in a 0mm GC. However, the wedge is useless upside down.
SET-UP 2...Two large 30 centimetre long steel spikes, powered by their own pneumatic system and running off CO2. The front with this GC is 10mm.
SET-UP 3...A simple bucket scoop, like X-Terminator. The scoop is static, but can get underneath virtually zero ground clearance. Its front is 0mm.
Srimech; The robot runs inverted, the sides are protected by the skirts and back stranding is impossible.
Inspiration; The original Cyclone was named because it is the name of a storm and it sounds threatening. The force came later, after it became a pusher.
Strengths;Raw power
Weaknessess;Limited control.
LEPROSY INFECTION
Weight; 100 kilos
Body Shape; Invertible box, looks a bit like Tetanus Booster, only slightly larger. About 140cm in length, 90cm in width and 30cm in height.
Speed; 18mph
TC; 0
GC; 6mm. The mini-skirts hang down to about 1mm.
Wheels; 4 inner, top sticking out. Hinged mini-skirts hang from the side, and these protect the wheels from low lying discs.
Armour; 7mm titanium
Power; 3x 12v batteries, powered by S28-400 Magmotors. LEM130 motor for the drum.
Colour; A disgusting shade of lime green.
Weapons; A very large, very dangerous vertical drum, capable of reaching speeds of 4000rpm. The teeth on the drum are curved upwards so they can flip as well as damage and very sharp at the tip. There is a reason for this explained below. By the drum are two hindged wedge type devices, which drive oppodents onto the drum.
Srimech; The robot is invertable. Bars along the side and back prevent stranding. The wheel flaps, both on top and bottom, are set so the robot can still run inverted without getting stranded. Once upside down, the teeth of the drum gouge out robot parts.
Inspiration; Named after the disease which causes the skin to flake and fingers and toes to drop off...namely because the robot does something similar. The basic idea came from an episode of The Simpsons.
Strengths; Drum, control is pretty good
Weaknessess; Wheels may be vulnerable to axes
MEGA MASHER 2
Weight: 100 kilos
Body Shape: A Triangle shape, a bit like Inshredable (from Series 6). 0.85m in length and width, and 0.35m at its highest point. The sides are heavily angled, a bit like UFO in S7, only more so.
Speed: 15mph
TC: 0
GC; 0 at front, 6mm elsewhere.
Wheels; 6 inner, aranged in a 3-wheel-a-side formation. This means that four wheels are always on the ground at any one time.
Armour: A nice 3.25mm Hardox, all over.
Power: 3x 12v batteries, plus Bosch 750s at 36v.
Colour: Red and yellow.
Weapons; The front is a wedge, and the back has a nasty vertical titanium 35cm in diameter disc, powered by its own LEM130 motor and spinning at 2000 rpm. It can probably flip as well as damage.
Srimech: The robot can run inverted, with the sheer angling at the sides making stranding near impossible.
Inspiration; This is probably the only robot I have where I have had no inspiration. It just came as a good name.
Strengths: Power, weaponary
Weaknessess: New and untested design.
AXE-O-LOTL
Weight: 100 kilos
Body Shape: Comengetorix shaped (box-wedge?), a metre long, 70cm wide and 30cm high.
Speed: 20mph
TC: 0
GC: 0mm at the front, 6mm elsewhere.
Wheels: 4 inner
Armour: 3.25mm Hardox all around.
Power: LEM130s at 36 volts, ala Storm 2. 3x12v batteries.
Colour: Has interchangable panels. One set is pure black, the other pure white with pink tinges.
Weapons: A very nasty pneumatic titanium axe, with the power of Dominator 2. The head is diamond tipped, and the whole weapon is VERY persistant. It can fire about 40 times in one fight.
Srimech: The axe rights the robot. The robots body is designed so it cant be side stranded.
Inspiration: My favourite amphibian, the axolotl.
Strengths: Powerful weaponary
Weaknessess: Obviously a limited CO2 supply.
quote:
as far as Im concerned, and as far as Ive gathered from what Ive seen from Robot Wars and the competitors websites, thats enough
I dont wanna dive into this discussion but I want to say you miss a point here. With real robots, the actual robots do the fighting, the way the roboteer describes it does not effect the way it fights.
With vapourbots, there are no actual robots. All the fighting is done by the robot you DESCRIBE. The description is vital in vapourbots.
I know that, and thats what Im trying to do. Im also using my favourite secret weapon...common sense. I mean, if an axe can fire 40 times in a match, or a blade can spin at 2000rpm, I would (and this is personally just me) have been able to figure it out from there.
Besides that, I dont wish to risk conflicting information.
Thing is that you cant assume what is and what isnt unless you know more things and are able to make a more accurate guess. Right, so I should just suppose two discs made of different material, Hardox and titanium, give out the same amount of kinetic energy when spinning at 2000rpm then, Chris? Of course not. They have a different MOI (Moment Of Inertia, and I explained that to you a bit before; the higher the MOI, the more kJ) and different dimensions, which both contribute to the amount of kJ they dish out, and thus one of the discs is stronger.
Same thing with the axe situation youre referring to. For an axe to fire 40 times in a match, it would have be dependent on the size of the ram (if its thinner, then yeah it can fire more times because less CO2 is used), but also the amount of CO2 for the axe.
Stats build on each other, Chris. You cant have one without the other.

Yeah, I know that. But, unfortunately, the way youve described it falls under the technological blabble in my book.
The whole issue I think is going on here is the understanding. You may, but dont you think youre asking a bit much for me to be able to grasp that straight away. I mean, I only managed to grasp the concept of MOI fairly recently (and you should know because you told me about it), and even now Im still not totally happy with it. Or the whole concept of kenetic energy...that just flys over my head, to be honest. Its a titanium blade spinning at 2000rpm. Thats enough. From the understanding POV anyway.
Chris...
-a titanium blade weighing 400g, 20cm in diameter with sharp edges on, spinning at 2000rpm
-a titanium blade weighing 40kg, 1 metre in diameter, and shaped into large hammers at the ends, spinning at 2000rpm
You and I know that these two things will do completely different amounts of damage when they hit...and yet you say material and rpm is all thats needed? I think theres a bit missing there :P
And btw, I could do with Cyclone Forces length really, but if you could make changes to the stats with regards to what Kody and Marti have (very excellently I must say, thanks guys :)) mentioned above and add a length, we could be rolling.
Joey, thats completely different. OBVIOUSLY that sort of stuff would be included as well...in fact, Id probably have that down before I even have the material and RPM. Thats unneccessary.
Oh, and because it seems you havent noticed, Ill repost what was posted 6 posts up.
LEPROSY INFECTION

...I had noticed it, and had asked for you to make changes, there was no need to repost exactly the same thing twice :P
I did manage to miss the length and bit in Cyclone Forces stats though, so sorry about that, and in the interests of not causing you to start World War II over very little Ill assume some things, like weight of discs and ram sizes and such, so it looks as though you are in.
THINGS I NEED NOW

I am actually quite eager to start this, so get your entries in before the end of the month at least. :P
Double post to say that Steve McGregor has pointed out to me that his otherweights werent on the list.
They are now, my bad.
So...uh...entries in quick please...looking forward to tourney starting...postcount +1?
Triple posts ftw :proud:
There is a distinct lack of activity on the boards atm, so could I ask that the people with entries still outstanding (Martyn, Martijn and Frank) get them in as soon as is reasonably practical please?
I hate to sound like Paul here but I am eager to get this started while I still have the time to get some done before more exams.
Besides, Dans saying he might change his squad again. :uhoh:
Joey, why if you wanted to get this started straight away did u give a date of the end of the month for the stats?
Because I never actually expected to wait that long, it was more meant as an absolute limit (should someone briefly go offline or anything)...besides, Im pretty sure I gave that during my AS exams so I wasnt expecting to be so eager to start it then :P
I did discuss it with Andy earlier, and based on his advice I am moving the deadline for names of entries to be in (so I can do the draw) to this Saturday, and then if a heat comes up and I have no stats for something, I shall insert a random realie to take your place. That should be fair enough :)
Sorry for the delay, Ive been pretty much bedridden since Sunday. To keep from delaying any further, Ill enter:
Door Stops
The May Tracks Has You
Cobalt
Masamune
I shall enter Axe to Fall as my 4th robot
...this is really bloody great now, I posted that to get Martyn to hurry up and the two people who I didnt have problems with their current entry setup take it in completely the wrong way, I never meant to force anyone to change their lineup...is this some sort of lets all break Joey week? Its beginning to feel like one..._
Revisions accepted I guess though, hopefully if Martyn gets some names/full stats in I can do the draw and we can at last get on with the tourney proper.
