Robot SMASH!!
Well, tactics for each of my robots with line-ups.
Nitro-Gene 4.0 vs. Intrigue: This is annoying - Intrigue has so far got an unbeaten record, and has taken out 2 notibly hardnut robots in my E.O.T.R 4 Series, which has made the fact my best robot is facing it very annoying. My plan though is simple - get under, push towards the edge and flip OOTA! His axe wont damage me greatly, but Im not going to take a robot that I respect that lightly.
D.V.D vs. Iron Awe 5: I REALLY like Iron Awe 5 and its near invicibility in the realie world. But my drum should have the power to flip it around enough for me to knock him out, and I should have the control to survive the fight and win a JD if need be.
WORCK vs. Typhoon 2: Oh - its Typhoon, a robot with which I have a grudge - Im a big Storm 2 fan and I believe that it was robbed in S7. So for this, Im adopting a plan that many have tried but failed at - getting to it, stopping it spin and tipping it over! No problem, as I have enough shock-proofing to keep me safe from his spinner, he cant damage my armour or side-wedges. My flipper should be powerful enough to overturn him. So thats my plan - stop him spinning and flip him!
Coinst vs. The Quaestor: Another encounter with Joeys robots - this is going to turn into the new version of the AJ and Steven McGregor relationship . For this fight, stick on the drum and try to knock him about a bit.
Bar-Red vs. No Objections: POOT! :lame: One of the best new vapourbots this year(and there have been many new designs this year)and I doubt I have much of a hope in hell. His 1.2cm Hardox ring is going to make my hopes of hurting him impossible, but that lifter looks quite soft. Use my bar on that to try and break it off, and that take advantage of the fact he has to spin on the spot to use that ring. If he uses the ring, just be aggressive.
Id like to see the rest of the draws. :proud:
-
Robot SMASH!!
Another one:
MeCannibal 2.0 vs. Life And Death: ARGHHHHHH! Not another battle with Joey!! Just spin up and rip into both robots. With their weight disadvantage, theyll have to sacrifice armour. I hope...
Good line-ups Liam :proud:
-
Robot SMASH!!
Dammit - I somehow keep coming against Paul :proud:
GABRIEL II vs. Acronyms FTW
I dont think Frank can get a grip on me unless I drive straight into the weapon, which due to my shape and wheel layout...isnt gonna happen. Basically go for the sides, get under the skirts with the spikes and front point, flip once, and then flip OOTA while it selfrights.
Shadow Zone Returns vs. Fire And Ice
Avoid the front and rear, go for the sides, and ram into the pit if I can.
The Curse vs. NIDHOGG
Get around the back, and try and grab it with the forks/claws, then put it in the pit. Avoid the bar at all costs.
THE QUAESTOR vs. Coinst
Avoid the drum, and go for the wheels, try and knock a chain off or something. If I get the chance, stick the axe in a wheel housing and try and guide it gently to the pit :P
Bar-Red vs. NO OBJECTIONS
Spin, right from the start, and batter it to death. Dont let Bar-Red come near me when Im not spinning, unless the bar stops for any reason, in which case lift it over, then use the lifter to stop it self righting by pinning it down, and pit.
LIFE AND DEATH vs. MeCannibal
Send Life In first, to try and flip it against the wall and stop the ring spinning. Then, either try for the OOTA or get Death in to do some chewing, then pit it.
Good luck Frank, Kody, Kody, Paul, Paul, and Paul :)
-
Robot SMASH!!
CYRILIUM 2 vs Liar 2
Oh crud. My only hope is to flip him OOTA. Rush towards him, and consistantly flip him into the air. If I get flipped over, I can self-right. If that doesnt work, my next possiblilty is to hit the pit release button, and shove him down. My ground clearance is lower, so I should be able to get under him easily.
D.V.D. vs IRON AWE 5
Gotta flip him, but I believe hes invertible, so even though I can get under him, it will be near impossible to put him out of the competition, so Ill get under him and flip him out of the arena.
Worck vs TYPHOON 2
I decided to add a special Anti-Flipper Ring(AFR) around the bottom. Its sort of like a round skirt around the bottom of the robot. My tactics are to, while spinning, press the pit release button, then hit him while the pit is behind him. The impact should knock him into the pit.
VLAD THE IMPALER vs Sakura
Come on, a flower shaped bot? Simple strategy: Press the pit release button, shove the spinner down the pit. My very tough armour and shockproofing should be more than enough to prevent damage.
Dont forget I also said my other realies were Ming Die-Nasty from Series 7, 259 from Series 6, Biohazard, the US robot, and Gravity, the Uber-Flipper from series 7.

Robot SMASH!!
...Mark, I think you have to say things like that in the stats...
-
Robot SMASH!!
259 vs ISDSFA
Simply, Use the giant spinning disc to either toss him out of the arena, or into the pit, while always hitting him whenever I can.
BIOHAZARD vs Tira III
Drat... Bio has had some major trouble with spinners in the past, but those were horizontal ones. My plan: hit the pit release button, then use the 0mm ground clearance caused by my skirts to get under Tira and then use the lifting arm to toss her into the pit.
-
Robot SMASH!!
Mark, you cant just decide to say Typhoon has a new component when you see the draw unless you state at the beginning you have optional stuff.
Sorry, no AFR will be used
-
Robot SMASH!!
Cyrilium 2 v LIAR 2
OOTA ASAP
-
Robot SMASH!!
Heat G:
Haardvark v Storm II

Tempest Evil-est-oution v Dervish V
Axe to Fall v Super Gore Evo
Heat H:
The Darke Destroyer v Ming Dienasty
The 6isc v Wedginator 6.0
Razer v Terrorhurtz
Wedge Devolution v Woodpecker
I still need some other weights from certain people.I think its both from Frank, a featherweight from Martijn and both from Paul...Please post them ASAP

Robot SMASH!!
Oh, yeah?
CYRILIUM 2 vs Liar 2
Try to get under me, huh? I have a 0mm ground clearance at the sides be cause of skirts, and a 0mm ground clearance on front and back because of the All Torque design. Wheely Big Cheese-shaped robots are easy to get under, but hard to defeat. All I need to do is get under him, and put him in the pit with a well timed flip. I have more pushing power, so that comes as an advantage along with my 0mm ground clearance. He cant get under me, and he cant outpush me.
-
Robot SMASH!!
HAARDVARK vs. Storm II
Paul, why do you terrorise me so?
Uh...If I could get the forks underneath and lift it Storm off the ground, I may yet be able to put it in the pit or into the house robots. If I win, though, it will be an absolute miracle.
THE DARKE DESTROYER vs. Ming DieNasty
Two robots with completely useless weapons against each other, hmm...
Try and lure Ming to the edge of the pit, and hope that I can move out the way fast enough to have it fall in.
-
Robot SMASH!!
MING DIE-NASTY vs The Darke Destroyer
True, both bots have useless weapons, so Ill just press the Pit release button, chase DD(Darke Destroyer) into the CPZs, and use my better pushing power to shove DD around and into the pit, while not falling for his Lure Ming over to the pit and hope he falls in ploy.
GRAVITY vs Killotine: Evo
Veteran bot, Killotine. All I need to do is flip him out of the arena, while protecting my vulnerable rear end. I have the most powerful flipper in Robot Wars, so I can really do some damage. Dont forget that at the front, I have a 0mm ground clearance.

Robot SMASH!!
Heat H predictions (Besides my tactics)
The 6isc vs Wedginator 6.0
I really hate Kody, but I think if Wedginator can survive several hits from The 6isc, hell have the fight won.
Razer vs Terrorhurtz
They already fought in the Series 6 grand final, and I think Razer can still crumple that polycarbonate armour.
Wedge Devolution vs Woodpecker
Daniel described he had the fastest axe around, but not the strongest. Wedge Devo to win here, I think.
Heat Winner: Definitly not me, so it will probably be Wedginator or Wedge Devo.
-
Robot SMASH!!
Heat G
Haardvark vs Storm 2
Storm to shove the ancient machine into the pit.
Tempest Evil-est-oution vs Dervish V
Probably Tempest on a judges decision.
Axe to Fall vs Super Gore Evo
Super Gore will win this match.
Heat Winner: Either me or Super Gore Evo.
-
Robot SMASH!!
Heat F
Life and Death vs MeCannibal 2.0
If Life and Death can split up, and both get under MeCannibal, Id say they have it won.
Seung Mina IV vs Metal Sonic Spin Dash
Seung Mina to defeat MSSD (Metal Sonic Spin Dash) by OOTA.
Flick of the Wrist vs Dennis the Menace
Dennis just needs to get to 12000rpm and slam into Flick.
Heat Winner: Dennis, Seung Mina, or me.
Heat E
Bar-Red vs No Objections
No Objections by knockout.
The May Tracks Has You vs Sonic Boom
Close battle, but I think May Tracks wins on a judges decision.
With or Without You vs Whirligig 4.5
Whirligig by knockout, definitly.
Heat Winner: Whirligig 4.5
Heat D
Another Night at the Bar vs Pure Evil: ROTD
If Another Night can prevent Pure Evil from hitting the body with the disc, Another Night at the Bar will go through.
The Quaestor vs Coinst
Quaestor goes through.
E Clawdius Unum vs Killobite 5.0
Clawdius, due to the Crushability Factor.
Heat Winner: Me or Another Night at the Bar.
Heat C
The Curse vs Nidhogg
Nidhogg, but only if he can get around the back of The Curse and crush into it.
Turbo Tails vs Sheer Heart Attack 2
SHA2 to liquify Turbo Tails.
Mega Monsoon vs Door Stops
Door Stops to win by a Judges Decision.
Heat Winner: Me or SHA2.
Heat B
Dead Horse Beater vs Supreme Glory Omega
Supreme Glory Omega to win this match.
Shadow Zone Returns vs Fire and Ice
Shadow Zone to win.
ASANSMSADB vs Back to Rock III
Back to Rock, because of more experiance.
Heat Winner: Me, Because of the super flipper.
Heat A
Gabriel 2 vs Acronyms FTW
Gabriel 2 to send Acronyms to Heaven.
Nitro-Gene vs Intrigue
Intrigue to win.
The Botles Reunited vs Weapon Synergy
Weapon Synergy wins by judges decision.
Winner: Me or Nitro-Gene.

Robot SMASH!!

-
Robot SMASH!!
Tactics! Predictions! Lovely! :proud:
Heat A
Gabriel II v Acronyms FTW
Close, but this may go in favour of Gabriel.
Cyrilium 2 v Liar 2
Skirts are useful, but they dont work all the time, Mark. :P Liar 2 to get under and get even.
Nitro-Gene 4.0 v Intrigue
I believe Nitro-Gene is invertible. If so, those tires are MINE! :proud: Aim for them. If not, just do whatever I can. Basically try to avoid the flipper.
The Botles Reunited v Weapon Synergy
ZOMGZ!!! THE CLUSTERBOT MATCH TO END ALL CLUSTERBOT MATCHES!!! :proud: Uh, um, I think I can see Weapon Synergy winning this one...
Heat B
D.V.D v Iron Awe 5
Iron Awe 5s Hardox armour may help, but D.V.D. can win on a judges decision.
Dead Horse Beater v Supreme Glory Omega
SGO to land a lucky one-hit K.O. on DHB.
Shadow Zone Returns v Fire and Ice
Ram him, keep ramming him, hit him wherever I can. Maybe try to flip and stack him against the arena wall. Get him down the pit if I have the chance.
All Scoop And No Stab Make Steve A Dull Boy v Back to Rock III
I think Back to Rock can win this easily.
Heat C
Worck v Typhoon 2
Worck to win in one flip. :proud:
The Curse v Nidhogg
Obviously Im going to try and dodge the crusher. See if I can slam into the sides and carve it up. Im invertible, too, and hard to stack, so I should be okay. If he does get to me, the hit from the bar should send us away from each other, and me out of danger. :)
Turbo Tails v Sheer Heart Attack 2
Based on SHA2s horizontal spinner-killing record, Ill go for him. :proud:
Mega Monsoon v Door Stops
Mega Monsoon to totally outram those wedges into oblivion.
Heat D
Another Night at the Bar v Pure Evil: Revenge Of The Disc
Ill go for Night here unless Pure Evil doesnt explode with its own kJ factor. :proud:
The Quaestor v Coinst
The Quaestor should win this, depending onn what set-up Coinst uses.
259 v ISDSFA
Once again, Mark underestimates the power of our vapourbots. 259 to get flipped instantly.
E Clawdius Unum v Killobite 5.0
Grrr...Ill show YOU who has the better crusher, Mr. Clawdius. Get under the sides, lift, crush, and hold him in the air. Get him down the pit when Ive trapped him.
Heat E
Bar-Red v No Objections
Bar-Red to get bur-ied. :proud:
Biohazard v Tira III
KILL! :proud:
The May Tracks Has You v Sonic Boom
The May Tracks Has Sonic Boom, here. :proud:
With or Without You v Whirligig 4.5
Goodbye Martijn.
Heat F
Life and Death v MeCannibal 2.0
MeCannibal to smash them into tiny pieces.
Vlad the Impaler v Sakura
I see a repeat of Vlads match with Mechavore happening here...and much worse. Vlad out quickly.
Seung Mina IV v Metal Sonic Spin Dash
Ah, the champion returns. It feels good being the champ. :proud: Right: toss it over, take it to wall, flip. If it self-rights, flip it back over again. If it does a 360, flip it back over again. :proud: If MSSD gets under the front, the flipper will interfere with MSSDs spinning blade when he tries to get it under Mina, and stop it, nullifying the attack. Shouldnt have that many problems here.
Flick of the Wrist v Dennis the Menace
Dennis to be a menace to Flicky.
Heat G
Haardvark v Storm II
Storm II through immediately.
Gravity v Killotine: EVO
Yep, Gravity is powerful, but so is Killy. Killy should prevail here.
Tempest Evil-est-oution v Dervish V
Goodbye Daniel.
Axe to Fall v Super Gore Evo
Piercing claws here. Grab it, sink into the titanium and eventually into the electronics and kill it. Good luck with that axe. :)
Heat H
The Darke Destroyer v Ming DieNasty
Ehh...Ill go slightly in favour of Ming DieNasty here. :proud:
The 6isc v Wedginator 6.0
Eep. Just try to get this bugger down the pit ASAP, before Im destroyed. :lame: Box rush, hit the Hardox disc, push it.
Razer v Terrorhurtz
Oh noooo...my beloved Terrorhurtz. Razer through. :lame:
Wedge Devolution v Woodpecker
Well at least one wedge will be through to Round 2 here...and that would be Wedge Devo.
Heat winners:
A: Nitro-Gene or Gabriel
B: Back to Rock
C: Mega Monsoon
D: probably Another Night at the Bar, or Clawdius if I dont kill him. :lame:
E: Whirligig
F: ME DAMNIT! :proud: Oh wait...umm...MeCannibal? :proud:
G: Tempest
H: Wedge Devo or The 6isc
Im ready to defend my title Liam. :proud:
-
Robot SMASH!!
Sorry, Liam - I didnt know that the otherweights were compulsery.
Featherweight: DTK
Middleweight: Steel Sandwich
Ive seen my other robots and their battle, so here are their tactics:
Storm II vs. Haardvark: Sorry Mark, but Im afriad you havent got a chance in hell. True - youre entering an ANCIENT design and one that got as far as it did by luck. Ram it again, it should die, if it doesnt, use the lifting arm and leave it on its back.
Good luck Mark
Terrorhurtz vs. Razer: BLAST! Weve seen that fight, however Terrorhurtz has improved a lot since that point. My plan is to target the side-armour and try and hack it to piece or damage the power supply.
Good luck Martijn...and to everyone else
-
Robot SMASH!!
lol, Joey entered Haardvark, not Mark :proud:
-
Robot SMASH!!
Haardvark was a lot more durable than it looked...admittedly, the forks kept breaking and for one of its fights it could only go backwards, but it took a battering and kept going :proud:
-
Robot SMASH!!
Official Team BriteSpark Tactics and Predictions! :proud:
Heat A
Gabriel II v Acronyms FTW
The worst weapon a horizontal crusher like Acronyms FTW could face is a flipper, and that€™s exactly what Gabriel is. Gabriel for an easy win. Sorry Frank.
Cyrilium 2 v Liar 2
Liar 2 to dominate this fight.
Nitro-Gene 4.0 v Intrigue
This is very difficult to call. I like the look of Intrigue, but with limited C02 supply on board against a flipper, I think Nitro-Gene may cause an upset here. But on the other hand, Intrigue could use it€™s front and rear wedges to slam Nitro around the arena€¦. Ummmm€¦ pass? :proud:
The Botles Reunited v Weapon Synergy
Hmmm€¦ 5 robots against 4€¦ :proud:. Seriously though, Weapon Synergy may be able to outnumber Botles, but they do have 5kg less weight on each segment compared to Steve€™s robots. However, their weak armouring should be no match for Disc and Axe, whilst Ram and Claw can slam them around.
Heat B
D.V.D v Iron Awe 5
Not only can DVD€™s drum damage, but it can also flip. Therefore I think DVD will score a victory here by flipping Iron Awe with the drum, rupturing the C02 supply and rendering its opponent weaponless as it goes to the judges.
Dead Horse Beater v Supreme Glory Omega
Axe vs Axe€¦ basically try and get underneath DHB and drive it into the pit. Maybe use the axe to clamp down on it? This fight could go either way: depends on who gets the lucky hit in.
Shadow Zone Returns v Fire and Ice
SZR to slam Fire and Ice all over the place. Easy win for Kody here.
All Scoop And No Stab Make Steve A Dull Boy v Back to Rock III
I think Steve-o could win this. BtR3€™s weaponry is focused solely on the front of the robot. If Steve can get around the sides of BtR3, then it can win.
Heat C
Worck v Typhoon 2
Typhoonn to be blown away by Worck, who€™s strong armouring deflects the spinner€™s attacks.
The Curse v Nidhogg
The Curse to pwn Nidhogg. That easy.
Turbo Tails v Sheer Heart Attack 2
€˜Do-all with a drum€™ to completely obliterate poor Tails in a turbo manner. :proud:
Mega Monsoon v Door Stops
Ram, ram, ram some more. Then to be different ram.
Heat D
Another Night at the Bar v Pure Evil: Revenge Of The Disc
What€¦the€¦ How on Earth am I supposed to attack that? Right, keep the spinning disc at roughly 1800RPM, therefore reducing my kJ output and reducing the chance I will self destruct :proud:. Judging from the render, it is possible to attack the wheels from the sides, as the wheels poke out only slightly from the wheel guards. Therefore I will use my spinner against those wheels to try and immobilise Martijn€™s robot. If that does not work, use ANATB€™s width against it by trying to get it to deflect into the pit from any hit it has on me.
The Quaestor v Coinst
The Quaestor FTW.
259 v ISDSFA
259 out in 2.59 seconds.
E Clawdius Unum v Killobite 5.0
Clawdius to triumph via a pitting.
Heat E
Bar-Red v No Objections
Bar-Red to damage No Objections enough to win a close Judges€™ Decision.
Biohazard v Tira III
No srimech? n00b!. Biohazard to go through.
The May Tracks Has You v Sonic Boom
Sonic Boom was originally designed as an Anti-6isc robot, so beating another one of Frank€™s robots should be OK :proud:. The spike/flipper combo of May Tracks is useless against my wheels, so I will drive up his wedge, slam the brakes on and bring the momentum axe over the top and slamming into his flipper. If that fails, be annoying like Stinger :proud:.
With or Without You v Whirligig 4.5
Clusterbot vs scary FBS. Hmmm€¦ With or Without You may end up with or without it€™s armour. Whirly to go through in a shower of sparks and dead clusterbots.
Heat F
Life and Death v MeCannibal 2.0
See €˜With or Without You vs Whirligig 4.5€™ :proud:.
Vlad the Impaler v Sakura
Sakura to beat Vlad easily. A few hits to the shell, rupture the C02 supply.
Seung Mina IV v Metal Sonic Spin Dash
Doesnn€™t the flipper look a bit thin on Seung Mina? The flipper to go through anyways, maybe via a JD.
Flick of the Wrist v Dennis the Menace
Spin up the drum to around 7500RPM (should take roughly 3 seconds due to the power in the chainsaw motors and the gearing) and attack. 7mm Titanium is no match here.
Heat G
Haardvark v Storm II
Storm II through sails through.
Gravity v Killotine: EVO
Killotine flipped OOTA (sorry!! :proud:).
Tempest Evil-est-oution v Dervish V
Urgh. Every time Dervish enters a tournament it is pitted against a machine like Tempest. Open the pit and hope to deflect it after it hits my wheels off! :proud:
Axe to Fall v Super Gore Evo
Super Gore Evo to pit Axe to Fall in a very quick match.
Heat H
The Darke Destroyer v Ming DieNasty
I€™ll go for Minng Dienasty, as it has the weight advantage and a srimech.
The 6isc v Wedginator 6.0
The 6isc to win.
Razer v Terrorhurtz
I€™m gonna say Razer to win, although if Thz gets a good hit with the axe it could prove telling.
Wedge Devolution v Woodpecker
For this fight I will use the axe mechanism. I aim to get underneath Wedge Devo and use the axe to show aggression and dominance. As stated in the stats, the axe isn€™t there to cause damage per se, but to help it if it goes to a JD.
Heat winners:
A - Intrigue looks promising.
B - Shadow Zone or Scoop and Stab.
C - Sheer Heart Attack.
D - Another Night at the Bar.
E - Whirligig 4.5 to dominate this heat.
F - Any of them could win, apart from Life and Death, MeCannibal, Vlad, Sakura, Seung Mina, MSSD or Flick of the Wrist€¦.. what? :proud:
G - Gravity or Storm to represent the realies.
H - The 6isc.
-
Robot SMASH!!
MARK!
Cyrilium 2s stats show no skirts whatsoever, what are you talking about?
Also, I have something to ask. If both the FRONT and the BACK have 0 mm GC, and its not caused by skirts or hinged wedges, then am I right when I say the wheels will lose all their grip to the ground?
-
Robot SMASH!!
Cyrilium destinctly has skirts on the sides.
No, Martijn.
By the way, Paul, DTK is the featherweight Im using.
-
Robot SMASH!!
OK, Ill enter Arghh in the featherweight category.
-
Robot SMASH!!
Where does it say that it has skirts?
-
Robot SMASH!!
Mark you cannot add skirts to your robot if you did not include them in your stats.
-
Robot SMASH!!
I wanna here some other opinions on this, it is something I would have brought up in the how to improve thread, but Im not all that active there
IF BOTH the front AND the rear of a bot have a wedge with 0 mm GC, HOW do the wheels STILL have a grip on the ground?
The robot will rest on the 2 wedges and the vapour will be grounded I think
-
Robot SMASH!!
It depends - you could still be able to move if it was only just 0, but your traction would be low to nonexistant...I was thinking of building something with foam wheels so the clearance is 0 because the tyres are squashed down, but that probably wouldnt work in real life...but the chances are you wont move if both the front and back are 0.
-
Robot SMASH!!
well, weve had the discussion of 0 GC all around wont work!, I believe if both the front AND the back have 0 GC, the same would happen as with 0 GC all around
Cyrilium is a box, it rests on 4 corners, if all those 4 corners touch the ground, it will stand on the corners rather than the wheels
-
Robot SMASH!!
and about your foam wheels Joey, it would work, but you robot would drive as if it had leak tires I think :proud:
and Mark, if Cyrilium sudenly has skirts I feel robbed
-
Robot SMASH!!
Always good to know these things :proud:
My personal opinion is that the best thing to do to make your robot unflippable is to either make it invertible or have a good self righter - skirts are a poor substitute, they will not stop flippers from getting under all of the time.
-
Robot SMASH!!
I still need a featherweight from you Martijn!
And a middlweight and a featherweight from Frank.
-
Robot SMASH!!
what realie featherweights are still available?:proud:
-
Robot SMASH!!
The ones taken are Cunning Plan, DTK and Katnip.
Id suggest...
Rip (the mini Ripper)
Kitty (the mini Pussycat)
Kat Rip 3 (the Pussycat rambot)
Stiff Breeze (mini Storm II)
Just some ideas if you dont know any.
Also Kody you arent actually the defending champion here, as Mina won the Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2008, not a predecessor to Robot SMASH!!. Mina IV looks awesome though:)
-
Robot SMASH!!
Or you could go old school and go for Bugs :proud:
