Eliminator 1/2:
Dr. Acula v Minesweeper v Nitro-Gene 4.0 v Symmetry

Dr. Acula is from the mind of Jamie McHarq, my team-mate in Kody€™s C&B: Dual Duels tournament. Notice that it spells Dracula, as Jamie has clearly been watching Scrubs! Also, Jamie€™s favourite flavour jam is raspberry (I agree!).

Minesweeper is Mark Elam€™s latest creation. It€™s a Tornado-style rambots with ploughs at either end, but a 5mm ground clearance at the sides could leave it exposed to flippers. Mark didn€™t tell me his favourite jam, so I assume he prefers marmite.

Nitro-Gene is fast making a name for itself on this forum. It€™s got 36HP with those LEMs, and a powerful 1000psi nitrogen flipper which can toss 1600kg, and right the robot in a 540 degree flip! Paul must like marmite too, or perhaps mamalade?

Symmetry is a very original bot from Leo Van Miert, an invertible box with two horizontal discs, one on top of the other. The wheel setup is also not what you€™d call the norm, with two wheels on top and two wheels on the bottom. That€™s all very well, but its batteries won€™t last a full 5minutes so Leo had better hope this match doesn€™t go the distance!

ACTIVATE!

Minesweeper gets off to a very quick start, hitting the pit release tyre while the others size each other up, Symmetry getting those discs up to speed while Nitro-Gene checks out Dr. Acula, tentatively moving in on the attack! Paul tries to get the flipper in, but Jamie has other ideas and turns quickly to get his own wedge under Nitro-Gene, pushing it into the arena wall and grabbing it with those claws! Jamie makes for the pit, but there€™s an alliance going on and Minesweeper comes crashing in, pushing Dr. Acula onto the flame pit and freeing Nitro-Gene, but now in comes Symmetry and slams full force into Minesweeper, knocking Mark into the angle grinder! Taking advantage of the momentary stillness of Symmetry€™s weaponry Paul rams in, getting underneath Symmetry and throwing Leo onto his back! However, Symmetry€™s original wheel setup means that Symmetry works exactly the same this way up and now Leo spins up again, ready to get that weapon into play again!
Meanwhile Minesweeper and Dr. Acula are having their own tussle, and Mark manages to shove Dr. Acula around a bit before Jamie gets those claws around the side of Minesweeper, getting a good strong hold and moving towards the pit again! But heck, it pays to have allies and in comes Nitro-Gene, flipping Dr. Acula so that both Minesweeper and Jamie tumble over, but Dr. Acula holds on tight! Nitro-Gene rams the entwined pair again, and now Symmetry comes in from behind!
CRASH!
Nitro-Gene is sent spinning into the middle of Dr. Acula and Minesweeper, separating them! Minesweeper hurries away and attacks Symmetry, getting the front plough underneath the discs and ramming Symmetry onto the flame pit! The flames dance on the discs, but Mark has left his sides exposed to attack again and in comes Dr. Acula, who has been righted while fighting Nitro-Gene! Once again Jamie grips Mark with the claws and pulls him towards the pit, and this time Symmetry comes in to stop Nitro-Gene breaking up the party!
CRASH!
Nitro-Gene spins away again, and the front armour seems to be scratched quite badly! But Paul doesn€™t give up and now rams Symmetry into the arena wall, getting underneath and flipping Leo high into the air! But he lands on the barrier and falls back in, with the weapon spinning again! It€™s only now Paul realises he€™s neglected his alliance with Mark, who is being dragged towards the pit of oblivion by Dr. Acula, and now they€™re on the edge! In comes Symmetry to deliver a final push, but Nitro-Gene is underneath Dr. Acula in time and pushes the deadlocked machine away from the chasm again, but Paul has left his rear end open and Symmetry comes running in again!
CRASH!
This time the panel is half ripped off, half hanging on helplessly, and Symmetry spins up again, ready to rip it clean off! Dr. Acula meanwhile attacks Nitro-Gene from the side, holding on and trying to push it into Symmetry! But Mark intervenes and pushes Symmetry away from the side, into the corner! The discs hit the wall and stop, and Minesweeper carries on holding Symmetry in there, hitting it against the wall. Meanwhile Nitro-Gene and Dr. Acula are doing battle again, Nitro-Gene flipping Dr. Acula around, but Jamie comes back and grabs the loose rear panel of Nitro-Gene, then reverses, pulling it off! Nitro-Gene quickly turns around to defend his exposed buttocks, and flips Dr. Acula again, this time just ramming him into the walls while he€™s inverted. Paul tries to get Jamie down the pit, but misses.
Finally in the other corner Symmetry escapes Minesweeper and turns the discs on Mark, ripping the front plough clean off! Mark turns around and rams Symmetry into the middle of the arena, and all of a sudden Symmetry doesn€™t seem to be mobile! It seems that battery problem has let it down, and refbot moves in for the count!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!
Symmetry is down and out, and now the counter appears- only ten seconds left! Minesweeper decides just to get as many points for aggression as it can in this late stage of the fight and rams Dr. Acula into Nitro-Gene with the rear plough!
FLIP!
Dr. Acula bounces over Minesweeper, but now gets the claw into play and drags Minesweeper onto the flame pit!

CEASE!

With only Symmetry immobilised the match will go to a judge€™s decision to decide who goes through out of the remaining three machines!

Yes! I got through, but only just. Well done to Jamie and unlucky to Mark and Leo - especially Leo, as Symmentry did some nice damage, especially to a robot designed to be a spinner-killer :proud: Im just glad I won through to the next round, where Ill be waiting for my next opponent...

Actually Mark you didnt immobilise Symmetry, its batteries died due to their lack of power as stated in Leos stats.
But it was a very close match, you lost by just 4 points. And I must say your vapours have improved a hell of a lot.:)
Fictional armours have disapeared at last!
Just make sure you dont mess up VRW2, take your time and get it right.:)

Sorry I missed the start of this tournament since I was too busy winning the GRA championships (I am in a hotel in Bochum, Germany right now).

Yes we will be. First we are going to focus for the event in Brussel, Belgium this weekend and then all will be for preperations of the featherweight champs.

Namie€™s Style v The Alexandra Sisters v The End v Mega Masher 2

Namie€™s Style is a simple box-wedge design with a low pressure flipper, but don€™t underestimate Chezza€™s effective bot, this could turn into another Wedge Devolution! Chezza€™s favourite flavour jam is raspberry; let€™s hope the batteries in Namie€™s Style don€™t blow any!

The Alexandra Sisters is a clusterbot named after characters from Soul Calibur (I think, like Seung Mina and Tira), this design incorporates two flippers and teamwork between Sophitia and Cassandra. Kody€™s favourite jam is apricot, will this be his favourite victory for The Alexandra Sisters or will their weight disadvantage prove disastrous?

The End is a very... Original design from Joey McConnell. A petrol driven walker, it has no weapons, but the idea is it€™s just unkillable. Joey likes strawberry jam.

Mega Masher 2 is shaped like Minion from Battlebots, and uses a powerful vertical flywheel with the wedge at the front as well. Chris likes strawberry jam too, and hopes that his taste-bud similarities with Joey might take them both through.

And we€™re off to a very quick start, with The Alexandra Sisters splitting up, Mega Masher 2 spinning up to cause maximum carnage, Namie€™s Style preparing itself for an attack on Mega Masher 2 and The End... seems to be doing something, it could be moving, but I can€™t be sure as it€™s certainly going very slow, if it€™s moving at all.
But it€™s Namie€™s Style that shows the thirst for blood and heads towards Mega Masher€™s dangerous flywheel, perhaps hoping to stop the spinning before it can do any real damage?
CRASH!
We may never know, as Namie went at the disc to attack, but Chris was spinning already and Namie is flipped away! Namie quickly self-rights, and the momentary stillness of Mega Masher€™s disc proved telling as it gave Kody a chance to run in on the attack with Sophitia Alexandra, who gets underneath disc and throws Mega Masher 2 onto its back! Namie then continues the attack and pushes Mega Masher up against the angle grinder, then fires its own flipper to right Mega Masher, who runs across the arena and attacks Cassandra with its wedge, getting underneath and pushing the cluster into The End, which hasn€™t gotten very far. Namie comes in on the attack again slams into the disc of Mega Masher 2 for the second time!
CRASH!
The disc has stopped again, but this time Chezza hasn€™t been so lucky, as Namie€™s top armour panel has been slightly bent up at the front, and that could prove fatal if Chris can get in another attack like that! But once again in comes Sophitia and flips Mega Masher 2 onto The End, who turns and knocks Mega Masher back down onto Sophitia, who flips it onto Namie€™s Style, who pushes it onto Cassandra, who rights it with that flipper! Mega Masher 2 is taking a pounding from those three flippers and Chris needs to take action now or Mega Masher 2 will be making way for Mega Masher 3! But Namie€™s Style isn€™t giving him a chance to spin up this time, flipping Chris into the air from under the disc! The wedge is stopping Mega Masher 2from going over completely, but still that disc isn€™t doing anything in mid-air and Chris needs to hatch a master plan if he€™s to progress to the semi-finals of this Mini-Tournament. Cassandra presses the pit release button while Namie€™s Style flips Mega Masher one last time, and then quickly runs underneath so that Chris is on top of Chezza€™s bot. Chezza now flips Mega Masher 2 over backwards, and Sophitia comes in to push it across the arena floor, towards the pit! Mega Masher tries to escape, but Sophitia keeps him on the floor with her flipper and now they reach the chasm!
PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT!
The crowd scream for Mega Masher 2€™s plunge into the depths of the pit of oblivion, and their wish is granted as Chris€™s machine takes the tumble and leaves the competition in a puff of smoke!
Now Namie€™s Style and The Alexandra Sisters turn their attention to The End, who has managed to move across into the centre of the arena while all that action was going on. Chezza nods to Kody and they all ram in on the attack, trying to get under those skirts! Joey lowers The End as much as possible and stays still, and still neither Chezza nor Kody can get underneath those skirts! Chezza suddenly has a brain wave and tells Kody something that we, the viewers can€™t hear. Both of the Alexandra Sisters and Namie€™s Style got to one edge of The End and start pushing it towards the pit! Joey realises what they€™re doing and galvanises The End into action, turning quickly and knocking Cassandra away, then setting out to try and out-muscle Sophitia and Namie€™s Style! 200kg is a lot of weight, and Sophitia and Namie€™s Style are struggling to push it by themselves when the thing in question is pushing back! But now Kody brings Cassandra back in on the attack and she joins in, the combined effort being enough to force The End across the arena and down into the pit of oblivion!
CRASH!
200kg of The End falls right on top of Mega Masher 2 and Christopher winces, feeling his bots pain!!

CEASE!

The End meets its end, Mega Masher 2 is mashed! Namie€™s Style and The Alexandra Sisters, they go through!

Dr. Acula v Namie€™s Style: I predict that Chezza will make the Grand Final by rolling Dr. Acula over and ove until it goes to the judges where Namies Style will win.

The Alexandra Sisters v Nitro-Gene 4.0: Ohhhhhhhh...Kody, we met again :proud: Nitro has already faced and beaten a clusterbot - Richard Southworths Double Killa, which I beat via an OOTA, and I plan for this to be no different. I have advantages on all sides - traction, speed, power - I KNOW I have more power, due to my weight advantage and power advantage. In addition, my skirts mounted on all sides will make it near impossible for them to get under, but I dont think they have skirts at all, so Ill get under and throw them away - my 1600kg flipping force is enough to throw a 100kg robot 8ft or 6ft into the air, and 8ft to 5ft along (most likely the formers) so what itll do to a 45kg cluster I dread to imagine *offers Kody the right to have cushions placed around the edge of the arena :proud:*

My plan to to target the lightest part, and plan for a quick win, as 50% Cluster rule is in force here, so throw the lighter part OOTA, and Ill have it won. If the heavier part intervenes, flip him up to get him to go away, maybe shake some bits loose.

Dr. Acula vs. Namies Style

The weaponry on Dr. Acula is impressive, but I dont think itll be able to deal with Namies Style. Namies Style for the OOTA, pitting, or JD.

The Alexandra Sisters vs. Nitro-Gene 4.0

Im going to take a risk, and go at Nitro-Genes flipper to defeat that 3cm blade under it. Sophitia seems best at doing this so send her in first and try to tackle that flipper: its okay if she drives up onto it, as then she can ride overtop of Nitro-Gene. I dont see anything in Nitro-Genes stats about something at the top to stop wedges riding over it. :wink: Cassandra will tackle the sides and try to get under the skirts. Due to having better maneouvrability and control, this shouldnt be mucu of a problem. :)

Main tactics: PIT!

Question: Do all you guys prefer writing 4+way melees? I do, as its much easier to make the fights a decent length.
Im gonna have to try hard with the next 4 fights of this so that the quality doesnt dip...

Given Nitro-Genes box-wedge shape with a 42* hindged front wedge, I didnt see the need to place a speed bump on the top as:

1) It may have interfered with self-rightinig
2) It would look odd.

Semi-Final 1/2:
Dr. Acula v Namie€™s Style

Mr. Jamie McHarg is the owner of real life featherweights Drumroll and Kaiser; he has had three vapour fights so far and won them all! His other heavyweight vapours are Firefly and Drumroll Snr., Firefly has already fought in Kody€™s Dual Duels and was victorious (partnered with my very own System Shock).

Namie€™s Style is a far less original design, but that€™s intentional for it€™s supposed to be a good all-rounder. Both of these robots did well in round one, but only one of them can make it to the grand final- which will it be?

If memory serves all the predictions made for this fight have gone in favour of Namie€™s Style, will their thoughts become reality or will Dr. Acula perform an autopsy? Well, after this first attack from Namie€™s Style the predictors will be cheering anyway, as Chezza zooms in and flips Dr. Acula from the side, throwing Jamie€™s robot onto its back! Dr. Acula is invertible, but the weapon is ineffective when upside down so Jamie had better hope Chezza is in the mood to flip him back up! Dr. Acula goes on the attack to try and push Chezza, but Namie€™s Style packs more power and forces Dr. Acula up against the angle grinder, getting underneath again and throwing Dr. Acula over again! Jamie quickly gets out of there and lines up an attack on Chezza, getting underneath the corner of the skirts and bringing those claws into play, getting a firm grip on Chezza€™s wedge! Jamie drives over to the pit release button and opens the chasm, but Namie€™s Style uses its flipper and escapes Acula€™s clutches! Chezza heads away from the pit and then turns to face the approaching Dr. Acula, once again getting that flipping arm in underneath Jamie and flipping Dr. Acula up and over! And now he continues to push the doctor across the arena floor and into the corner, he€™s underneath and tries to flip Dr. Acula OOTA! But Jamie wasn€™t positioned well enough on the wedge and merely smacks into the rails before crashing down into the arena! And now Dr. Acula comes back on the attack again, getting those claws into play and grasping the flipping arm of Namie€™s Style! And this attack could turn the battle around, as Jamie rams Chezza across the arena and into the arena wall!
CRASH!
That didn€™t sound too good! Chezza has just learnt that it isn€™t a good idea to find yourself on Dr. Acula€™s wedge with your weapon in his grasp and that the fact you are hurtling towards the arena wall isn€™t brilliant either. And now Namie€™s Style seems to be in real trouble, as gas is venting from the flipper! It seems that the crash as ruptured Namie€™s co2 supply, and there goes the weapon power! Jamie grins and keeps a hold on Namie, dragging it over to the flame pit and toasting it. But now, finally the claw lose their grip and Namie€™s Style escapes, but is pursued by Dr. Acula, who gets those infamous claws around the rear and drags Namie€™s Style towards the pit!
PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT, PIT!
The crowd want to see the end of Namie€™s Style, and Jamie does too, so he keeps holding on tight and takes Chezza€™s damaged machine over to the pit of oblivion! He turns and holds Namie€™s Style over the drop, contemplates for a moment the consequences this move could hold- a place in the finals!
Jamie just doesn€™t waste anymore time thinking about it and loosens the grip on the claws so that Namie€™s Style slides slowly, but surely down that wedge and into the pit in a puff of smoke!

CEASE!

Namie€™s Style exits in a puff of smoke, Dr. Acula proves the bookies wrong and goes through to the final!

Paul, somehow, the 3D drawing program (Rhino3D) isnt working. (I get an error every time I try to open it, and it closes immediately after) This has happened very suddenly, and Im trying to find a solution to get it working again. I have quite a bit of Nitro-Gene 4.0 CADed, all thats left is the flipper, the colouring, and a texture of the robots name to put on the flipper. This is just to keep you up-to-date on progress. :)

Hopefully I will get this problem sorted out over the next few days. :)

The Alexandra Sisters is a flipping great vapour from Kody Kunz. Cassandra and Sophitia teamed up with Namie€™s Style to get through round one; can they fight it out by themselves now?

Nitro-Gene 4.0 packs more than enough power to shove The Alexandra Sisters around and flip them sky high. Can Paul put this plan into action or will Nitro-Gene 4.0 be making room for Nitro-Gene 5.0?

The Alexandra Sisters split up and head off around the arena, ready to cause some serious damage with those flippers! But Paul also wants some blood and heads in the direction of Cassandra, the smaller sister! Remember old fashioned rules are in place here people, if one cluster is immobilised then Kody€™s hopes in this tourney are down the drain! And things aren€™t looking too good at the beginning of this bout as Nitro-Gene gets underneath Cassandra from the side and throws her sky-high! No exaggeration as Cassandra nearly goes into orbit, then comes crashing down to earth! But Paul was so busy watching Cassandra fly that he left his rear end open to attack, and in comes Sophitia who turns it over! Nitro-Gene performs a stylish 540 degree flip, but lands on Sophitia€™s flipper! Kody pushes Paul towards the perimeter of the arena and flips Nitro-Gene right onto the rails! Paul quickly hits the flipper and flips back in right over the top of Sophitia!
And once again Paul homes in on the smaller part, but this time Cassandra defends herself, avoiding the front of Nitro-Gene and getting under the corner of the skirts to throw Paul€™s creation onto its back! He gets under the side of the smaller robot and slams her into the arena wall and fires the flipper at the same time! Too much for such a light robot, surely? Yes, it is too much, as Cassandra flies up high into the air, then comes crashing down onto the camera tracks with a very loud CRASH!

Dr. Acula v Nitro-Gene 4.0: I under-rated Dr. Acula - I thought that it wouldnt survive the first round or second, but its proved me and everyone wrong, but Nitro-Genes been after a 1st place trophy for MONTHS! Thus, I am NOT going easy on Dr. Acula. Looking at it, I notice 2 major advantages that seem to be in my favour - the motors - 2 x 400w at a 10:1 reduction will give massive torque, but not much power with it. Nitro-Gene has ENORMOUS power, and is also geared by traction, speed AND torque, and thus I outpush him greatly. The other thing is that he states that once flipped, he stands NO chance of gripping anything.

My plan is to simply flip him over, and NOT TO FLIP AGAIN! I will just shunt and ram him at will - if hes close enough to the wall, activate the flipper and toss him over the wall.

FINAL: Ill have to go for Nitro-Gene here - Dr. Aculas weaponry wont have much effect against it, and a swift OOTA may be in the pipeline.

Right. Have both clusters attack each side to get under the skirts, and then throw Namie on its back. It may have a hard time self-righting from its back, so once its inverted, try to stop it escaping and shove it down the pit.

Actually, I REALLY want Dr. Acula to win, just so that Paul wont be as overconfident about Nitro-Gene as he is now (dont deny it, Mr. Cuomo :proud:), but...I dont think thats gonna happen, and Paul will pick up his tournament victory.

Hey Kody, just wondering how come Joey and Paul have registered on your and Martijns board for stats etc. I thought it was just the two of you, but then suddenly there are loads of people on it!:)
