Okay, Im sorry, but I dont have the CAD or stats of Macduff the 3rd up. Ill try hard to get it done tomorrow, but if I dont have it ready for its heat, just use Macduff the 2nds stats.
Sorry about the delay. Im pretty sure each of these four should be able to handle the gauntlet one way or another...
The 6isc
Shape: Too complicated, apparently. See picture in the vapourbot images thread.
Size: 60X110X60 CM (LWH)
Weight: ~100 KGs
Speed: 10 MPH.
Ground clearance: Under the wheel protectors, it€™s 5 mm.
Weapon: 26 KG spinning disc, powered by one LEM 130 Lynch motor and going at 2500 RPM. The disc is shaped with its own teeth rather than needing teeth surgically attached to it, so dentistry is quite impossible. The energy output is 36 KJ€™s which, while modest by vapour €˜bot standards should still be enough to make a mess of things.
Wheels: 6 wheels, but four wheel drive. This has three wheels on either side arranged in a triangular fashion, so it only runs on four at a time. The wheels are 1 CM solid Ti with soft compound rubber wrapped around them to provide shock resistance, and a layer of Vulcalon wrapped around that to provide traction.
Chassis: The main chassis consists of one solitary 1 CM thick 4 mm box section hardox bar. Slotted over that is a secondary axle, inside which are the batteries. There are also two other triangular chassis€™ supporting the wheels. These are made from 4 MM 1 CM box section Ti bars with weight reducing holes.
Armour: The true axle and chassis is a 4 MM hardox bar. The battery axle is 2 mm aluminium. The semi circular wheel protectors and side spikes are 5 mm Hardox. The disc itself is 14 MM of Hardox 500, and the outer axle is 4 mm grade 5 Ti.
Srimech: Totally invertible. Controls won€™t even have to be reversed after flipping, meaning it can just go straight back on the attack.
Drive: 2 S28-400 Magmotors at 24 volts.
Strengths: The newest version of The 6isc does away with as many weaknesses in The Disc 5 as I could find.
Weaknesses: Weak armour in places. Can€™t use axe attacks.
Door Stops
Shape: A two part cluster bot, each part is an invertible wedge. Kinda like a door stop:proud:. The backs are rounded to prevent being beached.
Speed: 15 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh): 40CM X 30 CM X 20 CM
Armour: 4 MM hardox for the front 20 CMs, 5 mm grade 5 Ti for the rear 20 CMs
GC: 0 at the front tip, raising to 1.5 CM at the rear.
Weapon: Static wedges at the front.
Drive: 2 large internal wheels towards the end of the robot, powered by LEM 130€™s at 36 volts, which if memory serves should provide 18 HP.
Srimech: Invertible.
Linking method: One part has a clip on the rear, the other has an €œeye€ The two pieces can fight as one when clipped together, and with some good driving, the two can reunite in the middle of battle. Admittedly this would take awesome skills, but admittedly I am awesome.
Strengths: Good front armour, designed for taking on spinners, it€™s a cluster €˜bot.
Weaknesses: Not so wonderful back armour, could wheelie due to high acceleration, it€™s a cluster €˜bot.
The May Tracks Has You
Shape: Like Comengetorix. It has a wedge extender to give it 0 mm at the front.
Speed: 20 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh A): 85CM X 45 CM X 24 CM
Armour: 4.5 MM hardox.
GC: 0 mm at the front, 6 mm everywhere else, covered by skirts made of 3 mm Ti.
Weapon 1: Rear hinged flipper, powered by two pneumatic rams at 500 psi.
Weapon 2: Upward facing spikes on the wedge. A robot can go over them, but if it tries to reverse, say goodbye to your tyres. By wedging a robot then reversing suddenly, TMTHY can impale the tyres, then fire the flipper to do loads of damage. Even a robot with stuffed tyres will be limping after that.
Drive: Inner tracks, powered by Lem-130€™s at 24 volts.
Srimech: The flipper.
Strengths: Weapon synergy. Once The May Tracks Has You, there is no escape.
Weaknesses: Axe/flipper combos could take the tracks out.
Tempest Evil-est-oution
Shape: Ring spinner.
Speed: 12 MPH.
Dimensions(dh): 80CM X 25 CM
Armour: The spinning ring is 1.8 CMs of Ti. The base and top are 1.5 CMs of polycarb, giving a total armour weight of around 63 KGs.
GC: 1 CM.
Weapon: Ring spinner powered by two Lem 130s and spinning at 1000 RPM to deliver 83 KJs per hit. The four hardox teeth are 10 CMs long with two being placed near the top and two near the bottom.
Drive: 2 wheeled, driven by S28-400 magmotors.
Srimech: Invertible.
Notes: Has an absolute buttload of shock proofing inside. Everything is firmly bolted down, with layers of rubber between everything. Added to that, the teeth have a backwards curving shape which maximises the distance it will throw itself away from the opponent. The reason is twofold. First is to make ramming and flipping it difficult, but the main reason is to bleed away kinetic energy backlash, by using that backlash to move the robot externally rather than internally.
Strengths: Hits hard and is hard to hit. Not much is getting through the armour.
Weaknesses: Should the spinner fail, it€™s pretty much screwed.
Thankez-vous, M. Goacher..
...and this means I can put up the draw!

I need to know which gauntlet route you intend on taking (if I dont get it in in a timely manner, I shall assume you are taking the left hand route) and I would ask what tactics/modifications you had in mind for the trials, but since its sumo thats somewhat irrelevant.
The Chevron Championship has almost begun! (I shall leave you to decide whether thats good or bad)
EDIT: Bits I forgot to mention: Deliberately using weapons to try and get down the course (e.g trying to break the barriers) is disallowed. Attacks on the house robots are allowed however.
During Sumo, all weapons are disabled.
(Message edited by joeychevron on March 17, 2008)
envy and thor will take the right hand route and trax and ripper will go for it straight down the centre.
Im posting Nitro-Genes tactics. My power is so great that my plan is charge down the ram-rig to shove a house robot to the end of the course. Should be easy, quick and simple.

Argh! Curses! :lame:
Will really have to think of some tactics after Tiras previous loss to Baldur in Daves tournament... :lame:
Damn... FBSs are not known for there Sumo capabilities.
For the Gauntlet, I take the middle path.
As ever, Ill give proper tactics when the time comes.
Yeah just use all the existing stats for the time being.
Liar 2 will take the center route, take the ramp in reverse and flip the housebots
*ahem* Welcome, my friends, to the Chevron Championship, series 1. If youve just tuned in, Mechanical Noise is on channel 1, Eye Of The Robot is on channel 2, and Tim Robotourney reruns ore on channel 97, so theres no excuse for you to keep watching this rubbish. :proud:
Now, without further ado, may I introduce the competitors for tonights heat:
FIRST, FROM MABLETHORPE, ENVY!
The winner of the Roaring Donkey Tournament, Envy is a very effective front hinged self righting wedge flipper with a very durable Magmotor drivetrain and Hardox and aluminium bodywork. It features a gyro for maximum controllability and is real, unlike most of our competitors, spawned one night in the depths of Mount Doom which must therefore be somewhere in Lincolnshire where there is a lot of beer.
FROM HOLLAND, LIAR 2!
A rear hinged Nitrogen powered flipper that looks like some sort of mechanical rodent, Liar is invertible, can flip either way up, and has those spikes on either side for causing damage as well as overturning. It runs on 2 Lynch motors inside an all-Hardox bodyshell with the weight concentrated at the front, giving a top speed of twenty two miles an hour.
FROM GEDDINGTON, DARKESTAR!
Lost against Envy in the first round of the Roaring Donkey, Darkestar is a tracked machine with independent drive modules and a custom link system to ensure the tracks shouldnt break. It has a triangular vertical disc mounted on a free-moving frame to enable the spikes at the front to get under opponents and bring them into the weapon, and runs on Bosch 750 motors giving it good pushing power.
FROM ENGLAND, AXEON!
An all Hardox monocoque truncated pyramid chassis with Lynch motors powering the drive, Axeon can move at 18mph and packs a punch with that max pressure Nitrogen driven axe with 30 hits in a match, with two sharpened points that come down with such force it has an electromagnet system to stop it jumping in the air from the recoil! It has skirts to stop opponents flipping it, and can self right as well.
FROM BEDFORD, SITHIS!
Sitihis is a ninety centimetre diameter invertible cylinder with 4 wheels powered off Lynch motors and NiCd batteries, with Vulkalon treads giving it lots of traction and a top speed of 15 miles an hour. The weapon 48v Briggs & Stratton motor driving a spinning outer rim weighing 20kg with half of that in the teeth, capable of transferring 80 kilojoules of energy when it hits.
FROM ORPINGTON, NITRO-GENE!
Finally, another Nitrogen powered flipper with 4 Lynch motors driving the wheels, Nitro-Genes weapon runs from two gas canisters and can throw quite a bit with almost two tonnes of force at the front. The ground clearance is protected by titanium skirts and the robot itself is armoured in tough 5mm Hardox with an invertible body shape designed to reduce the attack power of heavy spinners.
Now, the rules are simple. First, the six robots will enter the Gauntlet, where they will attempt to get to the end. The one who performs worst is eliminated, and the remaining five move on to the trials, where once again, the worst performing robot will be eliminated.
Then, the remaining four machines will pair off and go head to head in the arena, and the winners of those fights will then face off to determine who will return for the Grand Final at the end of the series. The Gauntlet will be happening in a moment, as it took me half an hour to get through the introductions.
Very nice.

And so, the war has begun...the shot heard around the world takes the form of Envy clattering straight in to the right hand divider as it comes out. It backs up, and now enters the ramrig, which is open at the moment. Envy comes down, trying to get through without beaching itself or getting caught as the rig closes...which it is doing slowly...Matilda awaits at the end, Envy almost going on to her tusks, but turning away from them and riding up on the side of the saw block. The rig closes in, and Envy is now stuck! It needs to wait to be freed, but Matilda now turns, and backs in with the chainsaw...only really making sparks off the front Hardox wedge, but keeping Envy in there...the rig opens slowly, and Envy reverses into it before coming out, only to be hit by Matilda! She cant stop Envys charge though, as Shane sends his machine straight over the flames and into the end!

Liar comes out of the cage and straight into the bricks, sending grey dust flying all over the place. It tries to remove the bricks directly in front of it by wiggling from side to side, clearing something of a gap, as Liar now advances up the ramp, at something of an angle though. One of the blocks has caught on the right hand front spike, and Liar turns to try and remove it, but turns too much, and goes over the side of the seesaw! The ramp tips over as the weight shifts, bringing the rear end of Liar off of it, but the robot now appears to be trapped in the gap between the ramp and the barrier...Dead Metal comes in under the ramp, trying to reach Liar with the pincers, but moves the ramp somewhat, and Martijn sees his chance, driving Liar in underneath the house robot!
FLIP! Dead Metal flicks up into the air, but comes back down on its wheels, and manages to grab a hold on Liar as it tries to escape! The saw arm comes over, and sparks fly from Liars rear as a small, neat notch is cut in the top.

Darkestar backs up to ram into the house robot, but Killalot gets there before it can really run up, and tries to get the claw in...but Darkestar escapes...right into Sargeant Bash! The flames lick briefly at the top of Darkestar, who tries to push the military machine out of the way...and is managing it...but very slowly, and Killalot is around again, and gets the lance in the framework for Darkestars weapon! Alexs machine is raised in the air, and he can only laugh at how quickly it all happened, as Killalot turns towards the second pit and lowers the tracked robot in to taste tyre.

Shunt comes up to investigate, as Killalot looms from behind the wall...the lance nudges Sithis just enough to get it off the block, but it can only go forwards onto Shunts scoop, and the house robot lifts Sithis up and pushes it backwards! Really good writing! If u do a 2nd series, count me in!
That wasnt half bad. :proud:
Eh, any of the above bots can get rid of Shunt. Who will be the slowest...dunno.
Ill be alright against Shunt, as my flipper is 6mm Hardox, a very heavy flipper with an extension plate to get underneath it. Im going to drive forward, stop to use the power-drive tactic to get under, and then just storm forward to scoop him off.
And great writing as well. Even better than those fights on Channel 2
gonna flip shunt OOTA!
*points to handy little during sumo, all weapons are disabled thing in the archives*
Joey, youre a serious new writer. Keep up the good work and set an example for these fellow newcomers.
Good work on coming top of the Gauntlet, but now its Sumo... Here I will rely on my low wedge and weight to get under Shunt, lift his wheels off the ground and use my Storm II styled power to push him out of the dohyo. If for some reason a frontal attack doesnt work Ill revert to going for the sides where I should be able to get a good shove and push Shunt out.
gonna get under shunt and drive it OOTA!

Envy is doing the more pushing here, but Shunt isnt letting it get the advantage, and they just move in a slow circle near the centre of the ring. So its farewell for Liar at this stage, as the only robot not to endure Shunt. Why, we ask, was this?
*cut to some person who is a judge, and not Joey in a hat, honestly*
Well, Liar was at a disadvantage because of the design, it had the wheels at the back so it had a large turning area leaving it easily vulnerable to side attacks, and only a small place where it could actually push from. Also, it had two wheels, and was the least equipped in the group for straight pushing
THE SEMI FINALS
Darkestar vs. Nitro-Gene 4.0
Axeon vs. Envy
Tactics, comments, thoughts, a fly swat? :proud:
YES! I just made it! And awesome trial fights Joey!
Darkestar vs. Nitro-Gene 4.0: Darkestar has that riangular blade designed to flip. I can run inverted, so Im too concerned about the blade, but Im not brave enough to drive head-on into it. Go for the sides and push the robot into the sidewalls and toss it over the edge! Simple and plain :proud:
Axeon vs. Envy: Bad draw for Envy.
Good luck Alex! By the way, I dont have a fly-swat, but I have a nuclear bomb if that works:mrgreen:
any pics of axeon please?
Sorry Shane, I dont have any pics of Axeon.
«Axeon vs. Envy»
This should be a good battle, Envy is one of those robots that can easily hold its own in the vapourbot world. However, I think I should be OK. For one, Envy is a front hinged flipper and therefore it needs to get under my skirts and get me up the wedge before it can really attack me. The other advantage I have is that the top armour is only 5mm Aliuminum. That is probably the weakest armour Axeon has ever come in contact with, and it has damaged 4-5mm Hardox before, so holes should be punched right through this thing. I beleive it has C40-500 Magmotors for drive, in which case I can also push it around quite well once penetrated.
just read stats of axeon. sounds a very nice robot but i doubt you could get all that within 100kg but hey it is fan fic. even with electro magnets and the fan going at full tilt to keep your robot down would be very difficult with the power of that axe. you will have some jump. period. and when envy senses the axe firing she will be under and you will be oota before you know what is going on. envy could take few hits with there being air between armour and components but not too many and i will ofcourse be very weary and pose for the oppertune moment. very experienced with axe robots being involved with building thor. advantage swan :)
as a rule you should remember that the best armour in the robot world is infact air :)
Yeah the fan and electromagnet thing is a little random. Ive learnt from my mistakes with this version, the axe is quite possibly too powerful. The jumping could work in my favour here. If by some chance I do miss-fire and Envy gets under me, a quick smash of the axe should inch me off the wedge to safety. Damaging internal components isnt my main priority, its causing severe cosmetic damage.
fire all you wish it will be difficult to get off envy once you are full on. it just might make my life easier :)
oh and frank i know that your profile pic is was taken in skeg. prob just after you have had a game of lazer quest and icecream :) i just had a macdonalds which is just across where you were stood and confirmed my suspicions. god i am sad.

Envy gets off the mark first, driving up towards Axeon, which approaches cautiously. Envy pauses, and then charges in, but the wedge just rides up the skirts of Axeon - and the axe comes down, smashing into the ront Hardox armour on Envy! There is a nasty looking dent, but the recoil from that shot has caused Axeon to jump, and Envy is now off the skirts. It moves away, up towards the patrol zone, turning back to face Axeon as it comes in again. Axeon tries to position itself for a shot, but Envy comes and charges in at the corner! It manages to wedge underneath the skirts, but Axeon brings the weapon down...straight into the top armour of Envy! It hit near the corner, and the axe blade is firmly embedded in the aluminium, but Envy pushes it towards the wall undaunted...
FLIP! Axeon goes into the air...hits the barrier, but the axe coming out of Envy holds it back from leaving the arena, and Axeon comes crashing back on the right side of the walls, inverted. Andrew hits the button, and his machine self rights, but Envy is already there, and gets underneath the body of Axeon easily. The axe comes down though, and hits the top edge of Envy, denting the aluminium rather badly...but Envy pushes Axeon backwards, and it looks like Envy has this fight, as the pit awaits Axeon...the axe returns and hammers the top of Envy again, but its not helping it, as Envy comes to a stop and...
FLIP! Axeon is pushed away, and tumbles in to the void in a pall of smoke.
CEASE
Axeon is consigned to the pit of oblivion as Shane Swan and Envy go through to the final!

Nitro-Gene comes out of the start very fast, heading towards Darkestar, who moves away as its weapon tries to get up to spinning speed. Nitro-Gene tries to move in on the side of Darkestar, who turns to get the weapon into bear, but Nitro-Gene backs off. It comes in again, aiming for one of the track modules to try and flip Darkestar up and over, however its not going to get there without facing the weapon, as Darkestar turns into Nitro-Gene...
CRASH! Nitro-Gene flies into the air, and comes down on its wheels...the machine drives away though. Paul turns Nitro-Gene around just in front of the lower patrol zone, and faces Darkestar as the tracked machine comes in. Nitro-Gene moves cautiously, trying to get underneath the sides of Darkestar, as it turns to try and thwart the flippers attempts. Darkestar backs off slightly, and turns to come in, but Nitro-Gene gets in under the side of Darkestar, and pushes slowly, before...
FLIP! Darkestar goes into the air, and lands on the flame pit, which flares up obligingly. It moves off however, the only harm being one slightly bent bar on the framework of its weapon. Darkestar drives up towards the top of the arena, and moves around to get a clear run at Nitro-Gene with the flywheel. Nitro-Gene drives in, but Darkestar charges, and gets under the flipper of Nitro-Gene with the spikes!
CRASH! And titanium sparks fly, as part of Nitro-Genes side skirt goes flying away, ripped from the hinges! The robot isnt looking too good either, its on its back, but the flipper cant work inverted...and before Nitro-Gene can drive away, Alex manuvers Darkestar in for another hit!
CRASH! Nitro-Gene bounces slightly, but the Hardox rear armour isnt damaged more than cosmetically from the blade...Darkestar comes in again, though, and gets under the rear of the robot...and pushes...Nitro-Gene is caught on the spikes, and no amount of wheel spinning is helping it, as it hits the bottom wall, inside the patrol zone, and Darkestar backs away as Killalot comes in, and slips the hydraulic claw underneath Nitro-Gene, getting hold of the skirts...it tries to get free, but the house robot lifts it into the air! The flipper fires, and Nitro-Gene almost slips off the pincers, but is hanging there still, as Killalot comes out of the patrol zone, and turns towards the flame pit...Paul is mouthing something in his control booth, not looking too happy, as his machine is roasted over the flames, before Killalot lets go of Nitro-Gene, on to the waiting Darkestar. Darkestar turns to come in with the disc again, but Nitro-Gene backs up, and comes in on the offensive, getting the front scoop in under Darkestars right track!
FLIP! Darkestar goes head over heels, as it were, and lands facing away from its opponent on the flame grid, which flickers around the machine as it comes away, ramming into the side of Nitro-Gene, who gets away, and...theres smoke! Darkestars left hand side is smoking! Alex leans up in his booth, looking concerned, as he steers his machine away from Nitro-Gene and reverses towards the left hand wall. Nitro-Gene moves in an arc, driving in towards Darkestar, who comes out to meet it, and gets the spikes under its adversarys front once more!
CRASH! Nitro-Gene is inverted once more, in a shower of sparks, and a chunk of metal goes flying! The right hand side skirt on Nitro-Gene has been torn away almost completely now, there is little left clinging to the bodyshell as it flees from Darkestar, turning to face it, as the action begins to get more sluggish. Darkestar moves forward, the weapon not spinning it would seem, and comes in on its opponent, but Nitro-Gene locks on to Darkestars side, as the smoke still creeps slowly from the internals on the tracked machine. The clock begins to tick down, it will go to the judges, and it seems that both machines here are locked in a robo-waltz, completely exhausted...Nitro-Gene reverses sluggishly in the direction of the flame grid, as Darkestar turns, coming in for a final ram, as it hits Nitro-Genes scoop, both unable to get under the other.
CEASE
Theres a tiny flicker of flame just visible from under Darkestars tracks, and the men with fire extinguishers come in. The match will be decided by the panel of judges...
DAMAGE: Darkestar caused lots of damage to Nitro-Gene, but did catch fire towards the end, although it didnt seem to affect it much; Darkestar 4 (x4 = 16) Nitro-Gene 1 (x4 = 4)
AGGRESSION: Both were very aggressive at points in the match. Darkestar probably edges it slightly: Darkestar 3 (x3 = 9) Nitro-Gene 2 (x3 = 6)
CONTROL: Again, both had control at various points. Darkestar wins though due to pushing Nitro-Gene int the hazards and the patrol zone more; Darkestar 3 (x2 = 6) Nitro-Gene 2 (x2 = 4)
STYLE: Nitro-Gene probably wins here, its flipping was more stylish; Darkestar 2, Nitro-Gene 3
Darkestar: 33
Nitro-Gene 4.0: 17
It was a hard-fought battle, with quite a bit of excitement, but the winner is Alex Holt and Darkestar!
*in the pits, Joey interviewing Alex next to a rather blackened Darkestar*
Joey: So what happened out there?
Alex: I dont know for certain. I think one of the flips jarred loose the cabling for the speed controller, and then when I was on the flame pit the insulation *taps wires with foot* caught fire, there was a lot of smoke in there.

ENVY vs. DARKESTAR
Comments, tactics, predictions, a duck?
(Message edited by joeychevron on March 19, 2008)
envy is familiar with Darkestar and i am sure ditto. this will be a close battle. envy will go for the sides and rear. full on, full tilt, no messing. envy wants oota.
I found a dead duck, does that help?
(running joke among me and my friend, dont ask.)
Great battle there Joey and Paul.
Hmmm.... Envy my old foe... we meet again.... again aim to get the weapon in, flipping me isnt goign to win by itself, but the one video I have seen Envy fight in, it cant right if flipped with the flipper open, so feint a bit to try and trick it into leaving itself open...
