Thats a good idea Liam, have a re-naming compoetition and put your own mark on the robot with some nice artwork :)
Well I think because its been on TV, Im not going to change its appearance. Very soon in the new year Ill be testing it outside my house on blocks of wood, hopefully there will be a video put on Youtube of that. If there are any questions, dont hesitate to ask!

I have a question, how do you get your parents to buy you a HW? :D
If u pester them long enough
IVE BEEN DOING THAT FOR 8 YEARS ALREADY!
Why wont it work... DX
My parents are spending a week with us,think i should pester then for a Harley?
Go for it!
Just asked my dad that if I nagged him for a HW for another 8 years, i might get one! XD
Nice One!
Storm Force will be making its first appearance with me as its owner at Barnsley just to let u all know!
Liam Bryant
So, any chance of RAF Fairford next year?
If so then meet you there!
Maybe, Ill need to give Storm Force to Jonno before if I am going. Because we have quite small cars and it weighs a lot. Itll still be mine though and it will mean Ill go to more events:)
I take it not the WT however.
I dont know Im afraid.
I had my 2 of my mums colleagues over with their families last night for a meal and one of her colleagues has a son who is in his 20s and his friend was there too. They both do engineering and they really loved seeing Storm Force I have to say. The friend is going to start as a teacher at a school in Edinburgh and he says maybe sometime I could bring SF down there with Pug and entertain the kiddies!
Doesnt sound like a bad idea to me, watch this space in the future!
I recently did a presetation on robots in school... :\
Liam, just a word of warning. Doing these displays for scout groups and schools etc, Ive done a few with DB5 and Apoc. You have to be careful not to get carried away with the moment. Just be careful, especially with the heavies, they should be static only unless a suitable arena or area can be provided. The public shouldnt ever come into contact with an active robot.
Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but things can go wrong even with a machine you know like the back of your hand. But having said that if you cant show these things off to people whats the point in having them.
I would echo Eds comments. Having done several public displays with typhoon 2 the one question that always gets asks is if we can run it and spin it.
Never run a robot unless there is a suitable arena or similar. Even if you are running a robot on the bench a chain can snap, whip out and seriously hurt someone.
Its sad but in our world of health and safety someone could probably sue you if they cut a finger on the edge of your machine.
Thats one thing I prefer about the Czech Republic, the attitude of if you are stupid enough to put your hand into something that moves well best of luck to you
Yeah, dont worry Ed, Ill do my best to take care.
Lol, when i presented Trauma to my previous school in year 6, i didnt have to worry about any of that, because he was small, the weapon was a petit flipper, and i wouldnt even turn on a shiney surface! XD
Im trying to thinl of a use for Traumas old shell.
Update time once again!:
Gave Storm Force some TLC in my garage and twisted its front back into shape and also one of the corners of the side panels. I also came to trying it out but couldnt seem to run it. Ill hopefully get the step-by-step guide from Jonno in time before Barnsley. But other than that, its looking good!
Liam Bryant
check the wire hasnt come out of the blue micro switch usually why it doesnt start
I was told it was all gassed-up, charged up and ready to go when I recieved it. When I tried testing it. I saw that there were some different switches other than the Safety Link. Ill need to know what order you should turn them on in. Also, seeing as SF is part of my army, I gave it a bit of tartan to go on its flipper blade!
Well its that time again, update time! :)
Was testing Storm Force in my garage today on the cradle, when me and my dad were going to testing it, he had problems with what thing to turn on like we didnt know what a dump valve was but soon knew those things when my dad got in touch with John. I got into a bit of a flap when we tested the flipper and the axe as well as the wheels!
The flipper would return to the closed position when releasing the flipper button but the axe stayed in fired position after being fired once! Ah well, this sunday, well hope to test it in the outdoor tennis courts at my mums work, should be good! But in the meantime, Ill get John to help me out a lot better when I go to Barnsley in a weeks time :)

Dont worry Liam...
Ill be there to help, which days are you coming.. ? both ? Should have plenty of time to get it in the arena and let you have a drive by yourself on sunday morning if your early enough !!
Yeah, Ill be making my way down on the Saturday, and I think Ill be around on both days
Well as most of u probably know, Barnsley is now over and I had only one fight with Storm Force out of the 3 shows held over the 3 days.
Saturday (Show 1)
Storm Force Vs Meggamouse
In this fight, I didnt do well due to the amount of driving practise I have been having and also the fact that I was standing behind Major Damage. Meggamouse flipped me around where I was rolling back on my wheels until near the end, I found myself stuck on the wall. When Angie asked the audience who they thought the winner was, they booed Storm Force, but then again I do admit I lost to a very good machine
Sunday (Show 2)
We never seemed to get Storm Force working in any of the fights it was due to fight when it was put in the arena, Johns working on the problems just now so for both its fights, it had to be left in the corner of the arena and didnt compete at all in the 3rd show. But hopefully after Jonno gives it its TLC, itll be ready to fight again next time I go to Roaming Robots!

Liam,
Been there, done that! Last year we ran Hydra at Colchester for one day and then it started going in circles. It was great at Stoke (I think) and then at Aylesbury it didnt run at all, then at Guildford it didnt run at all.
Weve also been in the position where Iron Awes bungee got caught round its wheel and we were all over them and still didnt get a any sort of cheer from the crowd. Theyre a fickle lot really.
Its just a case of getting to know your robot and persevering a bit. Itll come good soon enough. You also get better at nursing it along.
Are you at Burgess Hill or Cardiff by the way?
Andy
Hi Andy
I dont know if Ill be at Burgess-Hill, I really doubt Ill be at Cardiff, both these events are far too south for me, I might be going to Wigan at the end of the year though
Regards
Liam Bryant
P.S. Speaking of Hydra and Storm Force, Ive just realised we both have Axe/Flipper robots when theres not many left :)
Not for me to decide for you, but two great weekends are at Easter (Robot Rumble) and RIAT. Theyd be well worth the drive and the Easter one has a bank holiday on the Friday and the Monday!!

Yeah, I know RIAT is a good event as I went to it last year, but Ive never been to the Robot Rumble
Update time has come once again!
If u are going to the UK FW Championships hosted by Robochallenge at Newcastle next weekend, Storm Force will be there joining some other TV robots like Razer, Warhead, Tiberius, Typhoon 2 and Terrorhurtz to go on display at the event, dont miss out!
I know its been a long time but I thought since it was about a year ago since my first event with SF I thought I'd bring up another message on the thread.
Storm Force had possibly the best fight I have had with it at Barnsley despite the problems I have observed on it. It took part in the final melee and was running around the arena like a rat out of the traps, doing well throughout dodging Major Damage and ducking and diving from Maelstrom and Iron-Awe 6. But unfortunatly ended up in the pit at the end of the fight courtesy of Tiberius (Sam, u know who u are   ). And at least I didn't get booed this time :)
I have also seen that one wheel can drive both directions and the other can only go backwards :( the pneumatics are a bit dofgy also because the axe didn't work in the final melee and the flipper was automatically firing. Another recent update is I am currently in the process of giving SF a new paintjob to make it look like a Team Bud clone. :) If anyone can give me any advice on the problems, letting me know would be helpful :)
Liam Bryant
Storm Force driver, respectively :)
If you haven't already, fix up the side panels, as they keep falling off :)
That problem has long since been fixed George ;) in fact since I got it for xmas way back in 2008 :)
Haven't seen it fight for ages, so I'll see if that's true at Nottingham.
