Paul, sorry, didnt quit read your question about Nitro-Gene being overweight :proud:
I dont have the time to do a weight check atm but I kinda feel youd be better of with 4 mm of Hardox, drawing experience from my calculations on Shovearound.
Is there anybody else with thoughts on this?
Ditch 2 of the drive LEMs and shave the hardox off by about 2mm everywhere.
Thats what Id say.

Ohhhh, so THATS why Electro had such a sucky win/loss record:wink:

Id say its overweight. Too many LEMs, Hardox is too thick and another issue I have actually had to spend a bit of time researching into. The nitrogen system in NitroGene is going to make the robot bigger then the stated dimensions.

Well, Im running plans to see what I can do to make Nitro-Gene 4.0 in weight, but incase I forget, (as is my reputation ), Ill enter a robot I already know is inside the weight limit:
TRI-TAINIUM
€ WEIGHT: 100kg
€ ARMOUR: 4mm Hardox for the back/scoop. The top and bottom panels are 5mm Titanium and the sloped sides are 6mm Hardox to sheild the wheels.
€ SHAPE: Low invertible box with a front scoop (the scoop has a slight dip in it to help get under other robots better) and sloped sides.
€ MOTORS: 2 x LEM 130€™s at 36V = 18HP
€ LOCOMOTION: 4 Vulkanised Wheels.
€ DIMENSIONS: (L) 60CM (H) 20CM (W) 60CM
€ COLOUR: Unpainted, with the exception of the name on top written in black paint.
€ WEAPONRY: The weaponry consists of 3 x 9kg discs, made out of 1cm of Titanium with 3 Hardox bludgening teeth. The discs are set on the same axle, and amounted deep into the scoop, with the teeth just reaching towards the lip of the scoop, so the uppercut movement of the discs can attack base-panels and the like. The discs are powered by 2 x LEM130s at 36V. Set on a ratio of 5:1, it gives off 3500rpm. The discs, combined together make 27kg, so the force given out is 165kj per hit! Large amounts of Rubber amounted behind the scoop stops the risk of self-destruction.
€ SPEED: 18mph
€ GROUND CLEARANCE: 0MM-1CM. At the front, it is completely 0mm. On the sides/rear, its 1cm.
€ STRENGTH: Weaponry.
€ WEAKNESS: Completely new design.
very well Paul :)

LEM130s have a Kv of 150, @ 36v that is 5400RPM, so with the 5:1 gearing, your discs will only be doing ~1000RPM...
The ratio will then be 3:1 then. :proud:
1800RPM?
Then its whatever ratio will give me 3500rpm!
3:2 would do 3600 rpm :proud:
3:2 would do 3600 rpm :proud:
Lol... Its not hard to do the maths.
motor speed / desired speed = gear ratio
5400 / 3600 = 1.5
Gear ratio is 1.5:1
Ive been looking at the arena again, and I was wondering, if both robots ended up out of the arena at more or less the same time, would the fight carry on in the perimeter area, or would the fight be judged on who initiated the OOTA?
EDIT: Actually looking at the KO rules answers that. But what if both robots cant get back into the arena in the 30 seconds?
(Message edited by joeychevron on March 06, 2008)
Thanks for the help Aaron.
eeps, sorry, I see I made a mistake in the arena-stats
the sloped walls make a 60 degree angle with the floor, not 30
o come on guys, dont make the signups stop at 14, thatd be so humiliating :uhoh:
I think Ill make another change of robot. Sorry about this sudden change of thing, but I think itll suite.
WORCK - Written as Worck
€ WEIGHT: 100kg
€ ARMOUR: 5mm Hardox for the body and flipper. 6mm Hardox for the scoop. There are wedges on the sides and rear of Worck made of 3.25mm Hardox.
€ SHAPE: A low wedge shape.
€ MOTORS: 2 x S28-400 MagMotors at 36V = 12HP
€ LOCOMOTION: 4 Vulkanised Wheels.
€ DIMENSIONS: (L) 70CM (H) 13CM (W) 70CM
€ COLOUR: Black for the flipper and barbs, white for the body.
€ WEAPONRY: A forward hindged flipper, running on a single 750psi ram running on CO2. The gas is contained in 2 x 5kg bottles, giving me 40 flips per fight, and the gearing on the ram 3:1 means we have 1300kg of flipping force! That should mean on a forward hindged flipper that I can flip almost everything OOTA.
€ SPEED: 13mph
€ GROUND CLEARANCE: The wedges make the ground clearance effectively zero, but underneath the wedges is 5mm of clearance. The wedges are held on
€ STRENGTH: Near impossible to get under.
€ WEAKNESS: Low speeds.
By the way, Martijn, if no-one else enters, try entering some realies.
yes I can do that, but I KNOW there are at least two people out there... Matty, Martyn, Richard, Samuel... did I forget someone?
You might be waiting an age for their stats though.
Id like to say 2 things here...
1: Id like to make a change. Whilst Die-Ceratops may have the more powerful flipper, I think that Y4 would be better suited to this sort of challenge.
Y4
Weight: 99 kilos
Body Shape: T-Minus
Speed: 16mph
TC: 0
GC: 2mm, but the flipper blade reaches 0.
Wheels: 2 semi outer (that means theyre protected)
Armour: 5mm titanium
Power: The usual 3x 12v batteries and couple Magmotors (S28-400s) for power.
Colour: Grey
Weapons: An extremely powerful pneumatic CO2 flipper (Try 300 kilos+). Can perform about 30 or so flips before it starts weakening.
Srimech: The flipper acts as srimech. It can also be used as gymnastics. A light flip will knock the robot back over, but pressing hard on the button will send the robot into a 540 degree spin before landing, or a Matador style bound in mid air. All prperly controlled, of course.
Inspiration: A quote from a cartoon. Taz-mania, I believe.
Strengths: Powerful flipper, very entertaining.
Weaknessess: Semi exposed wheels.
2: This is just a suggestion, but if no one else shows up, just give some of the robots byes to the next round. Thats how Battlebots worked.
That may be true Chris, but who deserves the bye and who doesnt deserve the byes? That was something that annoyed a great many people in BattleBots Season 3, as a lot of experienced machines will noramlly have to win no more than 4-5 fights, but the less experienced macgines had to beat 8-9 other robots!
I know this is just a 16 way competition, but that means there are only 4 rounds. What if two people just have to win 3 rounds - NOT FAIR!
1. Fine with me Chris, both Y4 and Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus are fine flippers.
2. Could do that or throw realies in the mix, or wait, all would work, for now, Ill have to finish the current MN2-heat first, so everyonell have some time left, and like I said, between Martyn, Matty, Richard, Samuel and the realie-owners (the likes of Leo, Swan, you name them) here, it shouldnt be too hard to get 2 more people, should it?
Didnt read Pauls post when I typed mine.
I agree with Paul, better have you fight random realies than giving away random byes, still, I remain hopefull :proud:
Might have another bot to replace Attraction with... Just working on the stats now, will follow up with a render today...
I shall call him.... B.i.t.c.h B.e.a.t.e.r (-- Swear filter owns me)
When you thought it was safe to enter a Vapour Tourney...
One man...
One robot...
One veteran...
BOO! :proud:
Robot Name: Dennis The Menace
Length/Width/Height: 100 x 40 x 25 - 35cm (The height of the robot increases as you move from the front to the back).
Weight: 100KG
Motivation: 2 foam filled go kart wheels made of uber-tough rubber.
Speed: About 18mph
Weapon: The main weapon is a 20kg spinning drum, powered by 2 Huqsvarna 3120XP chainsaw motors. The weapon is capable of changing gears during a match. Originally, the drum spins at 2400RPM when geared down 10:1, but this can be increased to 2:1 at systematic intervals of 2 gearings (10:1, 8:1, 6:1, 4:1 2:1). The 4mm Titanium drum is fitted with 2 horizontal Hardox bars, welded, screwed and riveted on to avoid them coming off. These are designed not only to flip, but to rip off skirts and armouring. The drum can hit with over 10kJ of force when spinning at 2400RPM, and increases to an astonishing 243kJ when spinning at 2:1 gearing (12000RPM).
Drive: 24v Sinclair C5 motors.
Power: 4 x 24v NiCad batteries.
Armour: 5mm Titanium and Vanadium alloy.
Ground Clearance: 4mm all around.
Turning Circle: 0M
Notes: The robot is invertible, and is completely symmetrical when flipped, meaning the performance isn€™t altered at all. The robot€™s shape is basically a box, but with the height increasing as you move from front to the back. The robot has 2 thick Hardox spikes on each side, which means it can pass the passive weaponry rule, and these also stop the robot resting on its side. To stop it resting on its back, the rear of the robot is slightly curved.
Hope thats ok... lets kick some n00bs! :proud:
...*hides*

Martyn? My name isnt Martyn...
Walk Away? I trust you know where the stats are? Truth be told I dont XD
