Come on, someone must live here! I'm in Shrewsbury. Also looking to make the transition from fan, to team-member.
I'm also in shrewsbury lol
Oh, Hello! Fan? Team-member already? Where do you drink, THAT's the really important question...
I have been a fan since robotwars started, had a hw,spinner, fw's.. But Got a bit bored of it all so moved on to other things. Built a dr who k9, building a wall e full size replica.
I have a young family so at home when not working, when I have a drink I do it in my garage it helps me be more creative!
I am not a team member, I'm not in the "gang" lol, I ran alone.
At competitions I was the outcast lol
Me too.. used to get a magazine as a kid, long before it was in this country and WELL before it was televised.
I could do with pickin' yer brains then at some stage. I also tend toward the Lone Ranger, but in this case it just ain't gonna happen unless I find like-minded people. Ideas, intelligence and pig-headedness aren't going to get me where I want to be this time. Besides, I'm here to learn and turn it to my advantage without shame.
Sure pick away, will help if I can or point you in the right direction
If you wanted to know about kevlar, I may be able to help a bit?
Is Kevlar used same way as fiberglass? I want it for a non combat robot application.
I need a material stronger than fiberglass that I can make into a shape I need with a smooth finish.
Does anyone know what material gemini used for their shells? Something same as that ideally!
In a nutshell, yes it can be. But what resin you use might be different. It kinda depends what its for, but like carbon-fibre it's usually best done with epoxy in layered sheets, but that requires a vacuum-bag.
Kevlar isn't much good for structure. It's too floppy!
Bought a huge old lathe :) MFL seems so long go. I should try new batteries in TwoTooDoo :D
