The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Thats perfect Craig and thank you Aaron. I am warning you now that this could take a while. Im no longer at home due to complictaed personal reasons, and thus Im going to have to do everything (i.e. seedings etc.) from scratch.
Apologies for delays and inconveniences

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Woo, six seeds! That must be some kind of personal record.
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
One slight problem in that I still havent entered my stats yet:proud: That, however is something I am about to correct.
Please replace The Disc 6 with The Disc 5, and SBPTFR with NSBFR-X. For all others, see below:
ISDSFA
Shape: Similar to Behemoth.
Speed: 15 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh): 70CM X 60 CM X 40 CM
Armour: 3.5 mm hardox, reinforced to 5 mm around the wheels. Scoop is made of 5 mm hardox.
GC: 0 mm at front, 1 CM everywhere else covered with 3 mm ti side skirts.
Weapon 1: Electric scoop, powered by linear actuators. Should be able to lift around 250 KGs.
Weapon 2: Small flywheel, giving around 8 KJs per hit. This is hidden behind the scoop. Once a robot is raised, this is extended to strike the base of the victim, with the aim of attacking wheels.
Drive: 4 wheels, driven by Lem 130s.
Srimech: The scoop, and Behemoth style side arms.
Strengths: Good pushing power and able to attack a robots drive directly.
Weaknesses: Spinner pretty much useless against armour.
A Robot With A Really Long Name Simply Because I Like Acronyms (Acronyms for short:proud:)
Shape: Think Razer with horizontal claws as well but without the wedge.
Speed: 15 MPH.
Dimensions excluding claws(lwh): 40CM X 60 CM X 25 CM
Armour: 4 MM grade 5 Ti with a 2 mm sacrificial polycarb laminate.
GC: 1 CM, covered by side skirts.
Weapon: Horizontal and vertical crusher, powered by a hydraulic ram at 4000 psi. The lack of a front wedge to trap opponents is compensated somewhat by the fact the side claws will box in the victim meaning they can only reverse out, therefore Acronyms only has to chase after it using its Lem 130 acceleration in order to keep it caught. These use a €œgimble€ junction (credit to James Baker) to prevent all the crushers being stalled if just one encounters resistance, and also means the full crushing force can be applied on all three points at once. The crushers have lots of weight reducing holes in them.
Drive: 2 rear wheels powered by two Lem 130€™s at 24 volts, used more for the acceleration than the HP.
Srimech: Razer style wings. The horizontal crushers move in as these are activated, meaning they shouldn€™t impede self righting..
Strengths: Weapon synergy. If your robot has weak-ish top armour, it€™ll have you. If it has weak-ish side armour, it€™ll have you. God help you if they€™re both weak-ish.
Weaknesses: Heavy weapon takes away from armour strength, slow to self right.
Dead Horse beater
Shape: A box with a wedge at the front.
Speed: 12 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh): 80CM X 50 CM X 25 CM
Armour: 5 MM hardox for the top sides, rear. 4 mm Polypropylene for the base.
GC: 1 mm at the front 6 mm elsewhere.
Weapon: An axe, shaped like a baseball bat with a nail in it. The shaft is made from 5 MM Ti, the nail is hardox. This is pneumatic, powered by two rams at 750 psi.
Drive: 2 wheels, powered by two S28-400 magmotors at 24 volts.
Srimech: The axe. The sides are rounded so it won€™t rest on them.
Strengths: Good armour, axe should be powerful and have a fair amount of hits. Can still push if axe fails. Has a picture of a dead horse on the top.
Weaknesses: Base armour isn€™t too good, axes are hard to aim.
Door Stops
Shape: A two part cluster bot, each part is an invertible wedge. Kinda like a door stop:proud:. The backs are rounded to prevent being beached.
Speed: 15 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh): 40CM X 30 CM X 20 CM
Armour: 4 MM hardox for the front 20 CMs, 5 mm grade 5 Ti for the rear 20 CMs
GC: 0 at the front tip, raising to 1.5 CM at the rear.
Weapon: Static wedges at the front.
Drive: 2 large internal wheels towards the end of the robot, powered by LEM 130€™s at 36 volts, which if memory serves should provide 18 HP.
Srimech: Invertible.
Linking method: One part has a clip on the rear, the other has an €œeye€ The two pieces can fight as one when clipped together, and with some good driving, the two can reunite in the middle of battle. Admittedly this would take awesome skills, but admittedly I am awesome.
Strengths: Good front armour, designed for taking on spinners, it€™s a cluster €˜bot.
Weaknesses: Not so wonderful back armour, could wheelie due to high acceleration, it€™s a cluster €˜bot.
Tempest Evil-est-oution
Shape: Ring spinner.
Speed: 12 MPH.
Dimensions(dh): 80CM X 25 CM
Armour: The spinning ring is 1.8 CMs of Ti. The base and top are 1.5 CMs of polycarb, giving a total armour weight of around 63 KGs.
GC: 1 CM.
Weapon: Ring spinner powered by two Lem 130s and spinning at 1000 RPM to deliver 83 KJs per hit. The four hardox teeth are 10 CMs long with two being placed near the top and two near the bottom.
Drive: 2 wheeled, driven by S28-400 magmotors.
Srimech: Invertible.
Notes: Has an absolute buttload of shock proofing inside. Everything is firmly bolted down, with layers of rubber between everything.
Strengths: Hits hard and is hard to hit. Not much is getting through the armour.
Weaknesses: Should the spinner fail, it€™s pretty much screwed.
The May Tracks Has You
Shape: Like Comengetorix. It has a wedge extender to give it 0 mm at the front.
Speed: 20 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh A): 85CM X 45 CM X 24 CM
Armour: 4.5 MM hardox.
GC: 0 mm at the front, 6 mm everywhere else, covered by skirts made of 3 mm Ti.
Weapon 1: Rear hinged flipper, powered by two pneumatic rams at 500 psi.
Weapon 2: Upward facing spikes on the wedge. A robot can go over them, but if it tries to reverse, say goodbye to your tyres. By wedging a robot then reversing suddenly, TMTHY can impale the tyres, then fire the flipper to do loads of damage. Even a robot with stuffed tyres will be limping after that.
Drive: Inner tracks, powered by Lem-130€™s at 24 volts.
Srimech: The flipper.
Strengths: Weapon synergy. Once The May Tracks Has You, there is no escape.
Weaknesses: Axe/flipper combos could take the tracks out.
One final note. If you see any problems, treat me like a rookie and let me know. Any suggestions for improvements, especially along the lines of armour, would be greatly appreciated.

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Ive just checked, and noticed that I have two seeds! YES!!!!
By the way, Frank, ARE YOU SURE that Tempest Evil-Est-Lution has got armour thats 63kg?
And on ISDSFA, why change it? It was doing well enough as it was. And how would you be able to have enough weight saved to have a Hardox shell, composed of 3.25mm and 5mm?
And on The May Tracks Has Got You (WHY DIDNT YOU JUST CALLED IT T.M.T.H.G.Y?) I see youve found a way of impaling robots, but HOW?!? It doesnt stat, and also, the robot is 24cm high, but if you were rammed by a fast robot like Storm 2, hed go straight, as you removed the sunglasses to prevent that on the previous model.
Just stating.
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Question about Acronyms: Can you explain this gimble junction to me, and how you manage to pull the side claws in and the top claw out for srimech?
And with ISDSFA, is the disk being extended on the same linear actuators as the one used for the scoop? If so, that will make an interesting landing on selfright. :)

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Ive got a question for Matty.
1) Which of my machines do you think are slightly whacky?
By the way, in Steves outsiders championship, there was a real buzz, and almost every space has been filled, and Steven just needs one of your robots.
PS. When Steven said it mustnt be a former semi-finalist, I objected to the rule, as did a few other people. So Steve said that you can enter any machine that isnt one of your big names.
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Paul 1) Yes, at least according to the Team Cosmos KJ calculator.
Paul 2) I get bored entering the same things so I like to change them up a bit.
Paul 3) Its only 5 MM hardox in critical areas. Its mostly 3.5.
Paul 4) I did state. The spikes are facing up the robot. Ill get an explantory picture done up. I think the spikes would prevent robots just going straight over, as it isnt a smooth surface like Firestorm.
Leo 1) This was suggested by James Bakeer, hopefully hell correct me if my rsearch is wrong but this link should provide better information than I can:
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/4382709.htmlhttp://www.freepatentsonline.com/4382709.html
My understanding is that it allows slack between the three points, allowing the arms to move if one gets stuck. This advantage is traded in by the fcat it would be a bit heavier than a normal hydraulic system, how much heavier I couldnt find any info on.
Leo 2) Youre right, Ive been watching videos of Razer self righting. I need to design a better self righter as right now it cant.
Leo 3) No :P

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
ISDSFA... vertical or horizontal disc :proud:?
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Horizontal. Do remind me to never stat at 11 at night again:lame:
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
lol, apart from these stats being slightly less detailed as your older ones (I think), theyre fine :proud:
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Draw has been done, will type up ASAP
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
For Paul and anyone else wondering about the wedge spikes on May Tracks, check my profile pic. As you can see, the spikes are curved backwards, so will only cause damage when going backwards over them. However, the spikes in the picture are bigger than they would be in reality. The reason I made them bigger is so you can see the curve easily.
By the way, regarding Acronyms. Itll have to be left unable to self right. Ill just have to treat that as a lesson.

Woot...two seeds. :proud:
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Right, one important fact before I type up the draw.
as you may know I was recently made homeless, and thus have no access to my old PC and the information on it. as such I have forgotten 4 of Aarons entries, and also therefore, these are left with notes in the draw until I ask him. I will draw them randomly when they appear in order to not allow him to use the draw to his advantage. not that I believe he would anyway.

-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
You never forget your first... tourney:wink:
Tactics for now will be to target Axeon. Go for the sides if poss, or dart in suddenly and strike the front, propelling us both away before the axe can strike. Obviously these tactics will be changed if the draw is.

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Good line-up Matt, Ill post my tactics and predictions in first. My robots are in brackets ()
Heat 1
Shovearound 2 (1) v Tempest Evil-Est Oution v Axeon 2.0 - A good looking round round fight. The champion will go through no problem I think Axeon will join.
Black Panther Queen (17) v Orka MK.4 v Seung Mina II - A little bit closer. Black Panther Queen is through striaght away, but its close between the other two...Ill go for Orka.
Heat Winner: Shovearound 2, failing that, Black Panther Queen
Heat 2
Achilles (3) v (Knock-Out) v CRAPBAG - I DONT BELIEVE THIS!!!! Ive been put in with two very good flippers. I dont usually say wanna gang-up but I do. Alex, confirm if you want to attack CRAPBAG. If he says yes, wait till he flips Craig over and then hammer the base and wheels. If Alex says no, wait for one to get flipped and then hammer the wheels.
GeForce (19) v MegaByte v Liar - GeForce is already though, probably with Megabyte.
Heat Winner: Achilles is the obvious favourite, but I could be the underdog of the heat (Im not over-cockey!)
Heat 3
Whirligig 4.0 (5) v Senkaganzen v Battle Raptor 4 - The runner up form FFW 3.1 is through straight away. I dont know about Senkaganzen, so Ill say later.
Salamander 3 (21) v Dead Horse Beater v YACATR - Salamander!! Another seed that is instantly going through, possibly with Dead Horse Beater.
Heat Winner: Im going to shock us all, and go for Salamander, triumphing over Whirligig.
Heat 4
Axe to Fall (7) v Mega Masher v Dysfunction - Axe To Fall, seeded, favourite and Mega Masher, belonging to Chris to go through.
Slammer V (23) v (MeCannibal) v Kan Opener - YES! Thanks Matty! Slammer and Kan-Opener are both vulnerable to spinners, mostly Kan-Opener who I WILL attack. Spin up, charge into the jaws of Kan-Opener and unleash hell upon him. Attack Salmmer if I must, but keep on Kan-Opener.
Heat Winner: Axe To Fall or me.
Heat 5
Wedginator (9) v PUMP v A Night At The Bar - Kodys best robot against PUMP and ANATB...Kody and Martijn to win.
SoR (25) v All Apologies v Drilla Killa - AJs uberbot to go through straight away, to be joined by Richard.
Heat Winner: Wedginator
Heat 6
Leprosy Infection (11) v Killotine:Evo v Door Stops - I believe that the seeded robot might not make it. Maybe Door Stops will go if it doesnt.
Back to Rock 2 (27) v Psyclonised v The Grand Disillusion - Psyclonised goes through striaght away, useless its ganged-up on. Back To Rock 2 might go as well.
Heat Winner: Killtone: EVO/Psyclonised
Heat 7
ForcePower 5.0 (13) v (Down-Force) v Slaying Mantis - There are two main robots in this fight - ForcePower 5.0, an overkill rammer and me, a normal rammer with a decent weapon. Im going to attack the seed and catch him with my claw. Attack him from the sides and try to ram him down the pit.
Epidemic (29) v 8645T v Warrior SKF - Two realies and one vapour. The vapour is through, possibly with the American realie.
Heat Winner: Epidemic
Heat 8
Gravity (15) v SUNCUST v Megalodon Maneater - I believe that Gravity might go out here.
Archangel of the Abyss (31) v Chameleon v SBPOTFR - Archangel I believe will go through striaght away, but he might go with one of the other two I dont know about.
Heat Winner: Archangel
Heat 9
Agro 3.5 (16) v Translator v Y4 - Y4 might be surprising in this fight, and he might go through with Agro 3.5
Mute (32) v Shadow Zone v (Nitro-Gene) - A brilliant draw for me. I can get under both of these, outpush both of these, but Ill go for Mute, get under him and throw him OOTA
Heat Winner: Agro 3.5, Shadow Zone or Me
Heat 10
Razer (14) v Scaramanga v La Machine - La Machine out! No question!
The May Tracks Has You (30) v Wheel of Misfortune v Sheer Heart Attack - Im going to go for Martijn and Frank to win.
Heat Winner: May Tracks most likely
Heat 11
Wedge Devolution (12) v Cyberdemon v SYNDOS - Wedge Devolution is going through, easily with Cyberdemon.
Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus (28) v Acronyms v Axe-O-Lotl - Im not going to say until the draw is sorted out.
Heat Winner: See above
Heat 12
IDSFA (10) v Intrigue v Blendo - Blendo has a habit of self-destructing, Im going for Frank and Kody.
(Tornado (26)) v [Aaron vapour] v Firestorm - Ill wait until Aaron reveals his choices but when he does, Im going for FireStorm and sticking on the spike.
Heat Winner: ISDSFA
Heat 13
Storm 2 (8) v Terror Gear 3 v Behemoth - Bad draw for Antony. If the two realies attack each other it might stand a chance, but not this time.
(Tough As Nails (24)) v Crash Bandi-bot v Cortez - I dont know what Im going to do, but Ill team up with Cortez.
Heat Winner: Storm 2 - I dont stand a chance.
Heat 14
Flick of the Wrist (6) v (A.R.R.T.D.S) v The Master - Im going to take out Flick beating it at its own game - ram it hard into the walls and kill it. If I remove it early on, it will improve my chances of winning a heat.
Clawdius Decimus Murderous (22) v [Aaron realie] v Shotgun Slapper - CDM through, but I dont know until Aaron tells us WHO his entrance is.
Heat 15
Wedga€™s Revenge (4) v Tenderizer€™s Revenge v Spring-BOK - Wedga is a former champion and most likely to win. Maybe with Tenderizer
Metal Sonic Spin dash (20) v (Turbulence) v [Aaron realie] - I dont know yet.
Heat Winner: Wedgas Revenge
Heat 16
The Disc 5 (2) v [Aaron realie] v Griffon - The Disc 5 is deffinately going through. With Aaron.
Tengu (18) v Mr. Slave 2 v Big Nipper - Tengu is very powerful and will go through the very good Big Nipper
Heat Winner: Big Nipper/Tengu VII
A very good line-up from you Matty, and serveral matches Im quite happy with.

The Fowler Fic War Series 5
isnt it a RW series 1/2 format? not open combat all the way throu? if its now combat i know where im going tacticlly
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
jus so that your aware, ive twicked the shape of CRAPBAG stats are the same, maybe a slightly shorter ram and wider wheels and the aditional add ons of Tanto/BonX style hooks to stop cowards running over the top of the robot,
I know its a little late to change the robot but the stats are the same it jus looks slightly different
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Craig, Matt might have changed his mind, doing combat all the way is easier to write.
You might as well post your predictions, until Matty reposts with Round One of Heat A. Unless you post tactics, you wont do as well as you should.
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Oh wow...predictions and tactics!
Heat 1
Shovearound 2 (1) v Tempest Evil-Est Oution v Axeon 2.0
Shovearound is through here, no doubt about that...Tempest I think will join him.
Black Panther (17) v Orka v Seung Mina II
Oh nooo...XD. Both of my opponents are very hard to get under, so Ill have problems. If one wants to team up with me to take out the other, thats always fine. :proud:
Heat winner: Shovearound
Heat 2
Achilles (3) v Knock-out v CRAPBAG
Achilles to flip either two out, which one though Im not sure. CRAPBAG to not live up to its name and join Achilles. :proud:
GeForce (19) v MegaByte v Liar
MegaByte out. Really, one flip and its over.
Heat winner: Achilles or GeForce
Heat 3
Whirligig 5.0 (5) v Senkaganzen v Battle Raptor
Senkaganzen to be overpowered by Whirligig and destroyed.
Salamander 3 (21) v Dead Horse Beater v YACATR
Oh damn, Salamanders up against it here...yet I think YACATR will bite the dust first.
Heat winner: Whirligig
Heat 4
Axe to Fall (7) v Mega Masher v Dysfunction 2.0
Looking for a team-up with Martijn. Shove Chris around and get him onto his back. Avoid that blade.
Slammer V (23) v MeCannibal v Kan Opener
Kan Opener out.
Heat winner: Axe to Fall or Slammer
Heat 5
Wedginator 5.0 (9) v PUMP v A Night At The Bar
Another team-up with Martijn would be nice. :proud: Get that PUMP machine into the pit or OOTA if I can.
SoR (25) v All Apologies v Drilla Killa
No apology is going to save All Apologies. :proud:
Heat winner: Me or A Night at the Bar.
Heat 6
Leprosy Infection (11) v Killotine Evo v Door Stops
Baaaaad fight for Franks new clusterbot.
Back to Rock 2 (27) v Psyclonised v The Grand Disillusion
I dont care if I get teamed up on or not. Go straight for Psyclonized. Eventually after enough charging I will get under, and smash up his wheels with my lovely disc. Care for another team-up though, Martijn? :proud:
Heat winner: Killotine Evo or Psyclonised if my plan fails. :proud:
Heat 7
Forcepower 5.0 (13) v Downforce v Slaying Mantis
Down-Force out.
Epidemic (29) v 8645T v Warrior SKF
No team-up required, unless Aaron wishes to. :proud: Destroy 8645T within seconds.
Heat winner: Warrior or ForcePower :lame:
Heat 8
Gravity (15) v SUNCUST v Megalodon Maneater
SUNCUST out...of the arena. :proud:
Archangel of the Abyss (31) v Chameleon v NSBFR-X
You forgot to switch Franks bots, Matty. Anyway ArchANgel could be in for some trouble if the other two decide to team up on him with static scoops or summat like that...dunno.
Heat winner: I think Gravity could get by here.
Heat 9
Agro 3.5 (16) v Translator v Y4
Y4 out.
Mute (32) v Shadow Zone v Nitro-Gene
Fancing a team-up with Paul here. Ram the hell out of Mute and let Nitro-Gene keep flipping it. When his flipper power runs out, Ill use mine. :proud:
Heat winner: Me or Nitro-Gene
Heat 10
Razer (14) v Scaramanga v La Machine
La Machine is toast.
The May Tracks Has You (30) v Wheel of Misfortune v Sheer Heart Attack
I dont think I like May Tracks chances...
Heat winner: Scaramanga or Sheer Heart Attack

Oh and its a straight combat craig
-
The Fowler Fic War Series 5
Oooh lots of progress!
Heat 1
Shovearound 2 (1) v Tempest Evil-Est Oution v Axeon 2.0
Very good but a very difficult opening match! Shovearound€™s weaponry and pushing power will be largely ineffective against my wedges, skirts and suction system. But at the same time, that thing has some seriously thick armour that I€™m unlikely to crack. Tempest will also find it hard to get a reasonable blow in on my slopes and Hardox but again, my chances of getting a hit in on that thing are low. I suggest maybe me and Tony team up to box rush Tempest and keep the ring at low speeds and try and get rid of it that way. This would be a good idea because Tempest would be more of a threat to the champion than I will be later on in the competition (hint hint!)
Black Panther (17) v Orka v Seung Mina II
Well Black Panther Queen should be through, out of the others I€™d probably just go for Orka.
Heat Winner Predictions:
Heat 1: Shovearound 2
Heat 2: Achilles
Heat 3: Salamander 3
Heat 4: Slammer V
Heat 5: Wedginator or maybe SOR
Heat 6: Hopefully Psyclonised but maybe Back 2 Rock
Heat 7: Warrior SKF
Heat 8: ArchAngel of the Abyss
Heat 9: Shadow Zone
Heat 10: Wheel of Misfortune :P
Heat 11: Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus
Heat 12: IDSFA
Heat 13: Terror Gear 3
Heat 14: Flick of the Wrist
Heat 15: Hopefully this is my heat but otherwise MSSD
Heat 16: Great heat! The Disc 5 vs. Resonance could be interesting€¦
Good luck everyone this looks like a good one!
