Will there be any petrol / accom. contributions this time round?
Ewan, as our newsletter email a while back said, accomodation for teams/crew is free but offered on a first-come first-served basis and Im afraid that with 35 robots attending it was all snapped up a long time ago. So apologies but there isnt any left.
Re petrol - were not paying petrol for teams no.

Im afraid Ill have to pull out of this event. The length of the journey (thus cost and chauffeur reluctance) and excess coursework are weighed against me.
This wouldve been the last event for me for a while, with gcses round the corner and living as a teenager. I do my best to attend a December Birmingham event but just as its so much more accessible from Bristol.
So goodbye and have bundles of fun for the meantime!
Fantastic event, in a great venue. Well done Trev and Shane! Will get pics / vids on tomoz.
Now to work out why G3 wouldnt flip in final ...
This was by far one of the best events i ever went to. I really enjoyed it, next year i will certainly be there.
Great event, great venue and ran very soothly!
The new Ploughbot did well whilst it was running, but a burnt out astro and blown IBC it only came 3rd - but second as awarded to the Old Ploughbot. It hasnt ran in over 2years and still put up a good fight in the arena.
Well done to shane!
The venue was excellent, the pits space was certainly ample (is it because there were no big space-hogging heavyweights ? but nobody was blocking the way whatsoever anywhere), and the couches were very comfortable (just ask Mario). But I hated the location of the smoke machine.:proud:
My sincerest congratulations to the winners. Everybody was very sportsman-like, it was more fun than competition and that -to me- is the spirit of Robot Wars as we have been developing it for years.
Much applauding and hat-tipping to Ed and his crew for organising a very funny and sportive but smoothly-running event. And great appreciation for the comic relief brought by the boxing robots and the spectators fights.
Next year though I wish several of the men wouldnt scare me so much by going un-costumed and un-masked. Us witches had a great time though, and it was funny to see a pirate picking at his peeling skin that just wouldnt come off... pictures of his humiliation will be online soon, I promise.
pics online: http://www.teammad.co.uk/ipswich.htmhttp://www.teammad.co.uk/ipswich.htm
Vids on later i hope.
Great event again even better than last years Halloween event. Congrats to Trevor and Shane. Ive also got some work to do like Dave to work out why DB5 kept stopping.
John Bell, Ive got a bag of bits that you left will return next week at Bham. If Karoline, Jenny or Geoff could pass on this if John doesnt get on to read it. Thanks
ill tell him ed ......
And I couldnt agree more what a fantastic venue and event well done XFM and yes very smoothe big congrats to shane&trev Well Done son ...... look forward to next year :proud::rofl:
Must make it next year by the sounds of it, well done guys.
Despite not having had a tripod and having taken all action pictures without a flash (which means longer exposure time, blurring things from time to time) my humble efforts have been -for the most part- rather good. Leo will throw them online soon.
The lighting was great. Dont forget to thank the theatre crew !
Thanks Pete
Great event - it was a blast. Congrats to Shane and Trevor for a well deserved win IMO from behind - just proves that you should never give up in this game - well done!
It must have looked very funny to the audience on Friday when I was being chased around the arena by John - as I could actually hear them laughing from the inside.
Now I must get treatment for my obsessive compulsive behaviour where the pit is concerned. Im getting myself a reputation
Ed, email sent to John
Guys - have sent out emails to everyone thanking them for all their efforts
This has been one of the biggest shows to date with in the space of 24 hours almost 1,600 people watching the show !
My phone was red hot this morning from people wanting to know when were coming back, including the General Manager of the theatre who a) wants to book us again for them and b) wants to arrange to book us into other similar venues around the UK in 2007 !
You all put on a great show and you should all be incredibly proud of what we as a team put on for the audience.
Thats it from XFM for 2006.... and trust us, well be raising the bar even further for 2007 !

My pictures are online now, thanks to Leo: http://robotwars.demon.nl/ipswich/http://robotwars.demon.nl/ipswich/ . But I warn you, theyre rather large in size.
So all we need now are the videos Mr Young please
The blurring on my pictures: long exposure. Because I wasnt using the flash which would have reflected in the PC wall, as one can see on the first picture of the MEOW (Most Esteemed Organising Wonder), I had to settle for longer exposure in order to get decent pictures.
Most of the time the lighting in the arena was sufficient enough but a side-effect is that movement will be registered as a blur. And my own movements interfered sometimes too. Next purchase will be a onepod (like a tripod but sans 2 legs).
