Dont get me started on this one. Ill leave it at:
At least the DS has some originality, which is more than Sony had since they joined the console market in 1995...
Oh and by the way, as Im being held up by the Dalek I had for christmas . I wanted to ask Bex whether her Dalek knew when the Extermination begins...
Thanks Ceri.
The extermination happened yesterday against my mums Furby thats annoying me lol i tried to exterminate it but it didnt work  BOO HOO

Yeah a game boy with 2 screens is originaliy :P
How do you play dvds on a DS , oh wait you cant ...
Gosh what is it with you children :P
What makes or breaks a console is not how innovative it is, but what games are played on them.
Both de DS and the PSP have some very nice games (sims and mario for DS are great, GTA liberty city stories and NFS most wanted for PSP rock), where the DS normaly will target a younger audience as the PSP.
Both are overpriced in hardware, and overpriced in software. Like it has always been in the console market.
As long as Nintendo has been in the handheld console market they never where the most innovative. When the game boy with mono sound and no color display was selling like hotcakes, Sega had the Game Gear and Atari the Lynx, both of them way better than the GB. But in the end it was the lack of decent software that made the difference (altough the Lynx did have some nice games).

Why would you want to?
I would play a dvd in a DVD player because afterall isnt that what they were invented for. Its like camera phones. There great and all the but they are no where near as good as a real digital camera.
I use things that were designed to do a spacific thing to do a spacific thing, hency why I carry a seperate laptop, mp3 player, phone, PO, and gameboy advance sp with me most days. I am sure i could probably do everything on the Laptop but then again its difficult to skip tracks on the laptop when your running to catch the last buss!
I totally agree plus more things can do wrong with combined things as i found out to a cost
Er... since when could you play dvds on a PSP anyway... The little discs which have movies on them and fit in the PSP cost about £20-£30 a piece!
Anyway, I stick with old faithful mr PC packed full of processing and graphics power :)
Ewan use software to rip the dvd from your pc to you memory stick . Oh and has anybody heard of homebrew for the psp ? You can upload a emulator and play SNES , NES , any old console games . To be honested i did have a game boy as well , i loved it , dam pokemon addiction :)
Just get a decent laptop that does all the above and more!??
Mr Stu
psp owns the DS, its like comparing magmotors and wiper motors (I have used all 4 at some point :))
But also DS is good because you can play DS games and GB games and GBA games on it.
lol you can play GB and GBA games on the psp aswell , with an emulator :P
But I bet you cant play DS games on the PSP with the emulator.
Actually, Any Gamecube, Game Boy Advance, DS, or future Nintendo console Emulator is Illegal. Nintendo owns the copyrights on them...

Leo is right. Nintendo wasnt very innovative as a whole, but by comparison to Sony, they are.According to dictionary.com, the word Innovative has 2 meanings:
1: ahead of the times; Correct, the Gameboy was not ahead of its time - far from it. However that wasnt the definition I was after...
2: being or producing something like nothing done or experienced or created before; No one at the time had even thought about Despecing a machine to make it more affordable which does make this definition correct. It was also the one I was after.
Youll also find that Battery life was a key factor in the Game Gears and the Lynxs demise, not just software.
I never said Nintendos machines were better than either the SEGA Game Gear or the Atari Lynx. I have the utmost respect for those consoles. All I said was that the Nintendo machines were innovative to some degree that the competition wasnt.
Particularly in the case of DS vs. PSP, where it appears Sony has tried to duplicate the PS2 (Another fine console in its own right.) as a handheld, whilst Nintendo have gone out of their way (by comparison) to create a unique handheld. Which therefore concludes PSP Does not own the DS.
Personally i dont like any sort of console cos they are always gonna be bringing out new ones that are more expensive, the last one i got was the PS1 with the screen that could be attached and i thought that was great till the PS2 came out then i lost interest as i couldnt keep up with all the new consoles coming out and how much they cost... now im happy with my laptop and computer games for this!
Ceri, you make some very valid points and some which I cannot argue with. If you go by the definitions then yes the ds is more inovative however another of your put downs of the psp, the fact that it is a miniturised ps2, that actually in my eyes makes the psp far better. The PS2 had some fantastic games and hopefully the majority will make it to the PSP.
I guess this another topic where we can argue until we are blue in the face (or in the text :)) but it all comes down to personal choice.
STOPPIT! good god, arguing over a bloody console!
Ive got a DVD player and a new mobile fone this year, some choccies and erm.. the usual washing stuff, im sure someones trying to tell me summut about the way i smell!
Kev volunteered to cook, then decided to go on strike cos of shrek and toy story2 was on, then my gas ran out, so had to press on the emergency button to cook, dinner that was sposed to be ready for 4pm turned out to be eaten at 7pm, just conviently in time wif bloody doctor who! wheres the justice on that one????
But all in all, it was a nice xmas Ive had for a change, even wif that lil crisis, even put the tree up when i was gonna give xmas another miss this year.
