tim there is also a difference between titanium and grade 3 titanium.
Martyn you told me this so Ill tell you back sentences begin with a capital letter. Ok its 16mm grade 3 titanium now.

An axe and a flipper
I think someone is dreaming...
I bet not even our local techies can find a way to cram all that into a SHW, let alone a HW.
Maybe....the flipper and axe are antweight proportions - the tianium is a single bar and there isnt much of anythign else....
First time I have heard the use of grade 3 titanium. I thought it only came in grade 2 or grade 5, whatever the difference is.

There are plenty of Titanium grades, just various grades have different properties, which may or may not be suited to the sport of Robot Combat.

An axe and a flipper
A drive consisting of 4 LEM130 motors would weigh at least 35kg including batteries, gearing, motors and mounts... A FP CO2 flipper setup would be at least 20kg.... I dont like your chances Tim.
Oh yeah the Flipper and the axe work on the same co2 bottle.
That dosent matter: Its already overweight WITHOUT the weapons, itll be MASSIVLEY overweight with them.
*Dave enters the room wearing a thick coat and holding a bottle of the finest vodka in the land*
Evening everybody, sorry I€™m late, I had to go via Iceland for this bottle of Christmas vodka, but here is the first melee in the random thread fan fiction€¦
Sengazanken vs. Mass Disctruction Revolution vs. Vertindicular vs. Walsall2-1Merthyr Tydfil
Entering the arena first, it is Sengazanken, full name is €œSengazanken [Cookie for anyone who knows where the name comes from]€Â, and it comes to us from the wonderful land of America, where they make the Left Handed Big Mac, this invertible four wheel drive machine, powered by what seems to have become the standard motor for vapourbots across the world. It has a part of lovely vertical spinners at the front, powered by the same motor for maximum destruction, but it has a handicap with the hinged wedge blocking the discs from doing their job, but will Tony€™s machine be heading back to America as a champion or a chumpion?
Entering the arena behind Sengazanken is Mass Disctruction Revolution, a robot from the sunny state of the British Commonwealth, Australia. MDR which I shall call from now on to save on words, is a floor spinner, spinning on the spot, keeping the moving parts low, and hang on, Aaron has changed MDR from floor spinner to standard ring spinner, powered by an evil mastermind who wants to take over the world. Whoops, I have been reading the script for Andy instead of Aaron :proud:.
Following the ring spinner of MDR, comes in Vertindicular, it has a vertical disc held in a flooding cage which swings on it€™s axle, so it can keep working on it€™s back. Andy wants to take over the world, by using his cheesy puns and multi-purpose piece of wood. Vertindicular itself is standard in drive chain, 4 wheels, front wedge, and simple but efficient.
Finally entering the arena is Walsall2-1Merthyr Tydfil. This object has a flipper and an axe, powered by a range of motors and co2, however the arena looks like it is about to break under the 100kg mass of Walsall, so I believe it is time to go.
All three robots are locked in the arena, with some nice cheese pie standing by the exit into the pit of doom and destruction, so:

Walsall is away, using the power of its drive to try to slam into MDR, but Vertindicular is also onto it€™s back, and slams into the rear end with the vertical spinner, as MDR comes spinning out, and crashes into the poorly welded body shell, and rips the titanium panelling off without any trouble whatsoever. The hit from Vertindicular€™s disc onto the rear end of Walsall has knocked the machine out, with all the weight going onto its drive, weapons and armour, Tim had to use Key Stage 1 electronics, which had an overload and melted. MDR slams into Walsall again, and pieces of poorly built machine go all over the place, as Sengazanken comes out of the box, heading towards Vertindicular, but Andy and Aaron are ganging up on poor little Tony€™s machine, and spear it.
Sengazanken has been attacked from both sides, and looks a mess, the side armour bent and ripped off, but it is still working, okay, it is moving slowly, with the chassis bent in onto itself, as MDR hits Sengazanken again, and this time the damage is serious, as pieces of Sengazanken are spread across the arena floor, as Vertindicular slams into the main chassis bulk of Sengazanken and flips it over into the full spinning ring of fire.
CEASE
Both Walsall and Sengazanken have been destroyed and exit the arena in bin bags, both were treated to the spinner feast of MDR and Vertindicular and both paid the price of having crap inner structures. Andy and Aaron go forward to the final.

Wolf vs. Dues Ex Machina vs. Dennis The Menace vs. Axe-o-Lotl
Tactics, Predictions, Other?
...remind me why you are writing fights again?
Quit while youve got nothing to lose lad.
Tim, your robot was so crap and overweight I was considering not allowing it into the fight due to it being at least 150kg with all that drive, weapon and armour.
And Alex, shut-up for a change.
Plus you never stated what the axe (pointed, bladed) and flipper (front hindged, rear hindged) were.
Shut up... for a change? For a change would say that I never stop talking or posting. Of course, I dont talk all that much, and I dont post all that much; this, in itself, would destroy your pitiful attempt at me telling you that you need to stop writing results.
They are crap. They really are! This was the smallest result I have ever read on FRA, and is smaller than many, many results over at ARC! Your freaking introduction was longer!
This wouldnt be a problem if your result had a lot of content, but it didnt. Sure, Tims robot would easily get cut off towards the beginning, but after that? It is obvious that you are biased against Tonys many designs. Sen is easily a design that would probably have won the match. It has 8mm titanium armor, so I doubt that it would have its sides ripped off from one hit; even from MDU.
Also how does the wedge block the discs from doing their job? The whole idea of the wedge is so that wedges go UP it and into the discs. This way the discs wont scrape against the wedges, as the would do if there was no front wedge. And by the way, Tony never listed the inner structure of his robot in his stats. How do you percieve it as crap then?
Listen, your writing is full of holes and it IS time you gave up on it. You said Spanish Inquisition would be your last; hell, you said that AI 3 was going to be your last. You said you had too much course work, and yet somehow you have managed to find time! Dave, if you want to leave then LEAVE! Dont just hang around the entrance, trying to be funny by always coming and going.
You obviously arent putting effort into your results, you are annoying many other members; not only I. Just leave Dave. Just leave.

Why do you lot need to fight it is christmas eve (in most places)it is ment to be the time of good will. So please can we have some peace and quiet for once without you lot kicking off into fights!
Christmas Eve isnt the time of good will... thats Christmas itself. And we still have another 57 or so minutes until then. =D
Well featherweights with 4mm titanium armour get panels torn off, so I dont see why MDR cant rip apart 8mm titanium panels considering MDR is generating about 20 times more energy then your average magmotor powered featherweight spinner :proud:
Take a chill pill Alex, relax and just let the shat slide.... We all doo
Im with Alex, and my robt wasnt even involved. If a robot is an overly poor design, then you should give some notice as opposed to shoving it into a fight and then writing it down instantaneously.
But then Dave wouldnt know common decency and sportsmanship if it bit him on his enormously oversized backside.
And if anyone mentions Christmas, screw it. Christmas sucks so dont tyr and use it as an excuse for me to be all merry.
Granted Im not exactly in th emost sober of states right now, but I shall stand by my words in the morning.
Humbug! Humbug!
*Proffers a bag of sweets*
Humbug, Matty?
Thanks:) They taste gooed...
Mmmm, minty fresh...
But still why am I always losing, for a change can I actually win a match, put that into your thick head next time.
Fight wins are given out based on how good the writer thinks your design is, and I dont know of any writer who tries to evenly distribute results to avoid complaint. If youre losing all the time, its because the writers dont feel your machine is better than the one its fighting.
Timothy, the reason your robots are still losing is because...
1: Theyre rubbish/unrealistic.
2: You threaten the writer. Thats no way to get a nice win record.
Excactly, You cant expect to win if your robot is a load of scrap, which each and every one of your machines have been. If you want to win, dont make designs that suck. Its that simple.
First of all, well done for a half decent fight Dave. It worked exactly as I wanted it too and my bot went through. But however bad the other two robots were (lets face it, very bad) then I think the result could have been slightly different... but the right robots went out and in the right way at the end of the day.
Tims robot was stated poorly, and so it went out. Simple as that. What Chris said was right, if more details were given about the robot then obviously more could be written about it and the better chance it would have of getting through.
Sen is easily a design that would probably have won the match. It has 8mm titanium armor, so I doubt that it would have its sides ripped off from one hit; even from MDU.
No, Sen wouldnt have won the match because the stats werent up to scratch or the design wasnt good enough to compete. Or maybe the fact it was in the arena with two powerful spinning weapons. 8mm Titanium isnt that strong, you know. Maybe it would do for real robots, but in vapourbots the robots are a lot more powerful and advanced and some can shred 8mm Ti like paper. As for the ripping the panel off in one hit, you could be right. It would depend where and what angle the spinner hit it and how it was fixed.
And by the way, Tony never listed the inner structure of his robot in his stats. How do you percieve it as crap then?
It is percieved as crap because there was no details of the inner structure in its stats. Dave just took it as being rubbish or non-existant. Had CookieBot had a spinner as good as MDRs or Vertindiculars maybe one of those bots would have lost for lack of chassis details. But then again, Dave asked for simple stats with not tonnes of technical information - so maybe its his fault.

Alex, I wouldnt bother saying Daves writing is full of holes when you have taken part in the ARC. Yeah, Dave said those tournaments were going to be his last because he didnt have time. But when he found out he had some spare time and took the chance to start another tournament... was that really criminal? But again, Im in agreement with your last point... having done it numerous times myself I know how pissed off people get when people leave and return all the time. Just go or stay.
But still why am I always losing, for a change can I actually win a match, put that into your thick head next time.
Tim, youre losing for several reasons. As soon as you got onto this forum you started spamming, bringing up old threads and starting your own pointless threads which gained you a bad reputation. You have yet to make stats with enough detail which ends up with you losing fights because the writers dont know what your robot does. And sometimes they are on the unrealistic side. Look at the above few posts, they put it a lot better than I can.
You have a bad reputation and havent attempted to reverse it. Youve started and unfinished numerous threads. Youve failed to make a set of decent stats. You always contantly get into arguements and insult people. Nobody at all is going to let you win a fight if you go around telling people to get it into your thick heads.
Just a few points on the matter. :proud:
Good evening gentlemen and Timmy. Are you sitting comfy for another fight for the final melee? Yes, that is good, let us begin.
Wolf vs. Dues ex Machina vs. Dennis the Menace vs. Axe-o-Lotl
Entering the arena first is Wolf, this wedge with a forward hinged low pressure flipper looks promising with added 4 wheel drive to place the power down from the lynch motors. The armour should survive a couple hits from most spinners being 6mm titanium, but against some of the most powerful spinners, then it could find life hard. Kevin Smith is looking for his first victory today with Wolf.
Entering the arena second, it is Dues ex Machina, which I shall call DEM from now-one. Entered by Alex Holt, all-time greatest English vapourbotter of all time with an entire house full of medals and cups. DEM is so damn strange, with a locking outer ring with two wheels powering it around and an inner box, where you get the heart of the beast. It can be a 4 wheel drive rammer, or a 2 wheel drive ring spinner. However the ground clearance looks small, and as Aaron tells you, when you€™re spinning around, tiny pieces fly everywhere and you can ground out if you€™re not careful.
Entering the arena, after DEM is Dennis the Menace, which looks like it€™s a drum front end with teeth, with 2 wheel drive. The front drum is powered by 2 chainsaw motors, and has 5 gears on either end controlled by mechanical levers. Two passive spikes on either side prevent Dennis from landing on its side, but it is weak to randomly placed slippers, and the Australian experts say that the 4mm drum isn€™t going to last more than a few hits.
And the final robot to enter the arena tonight is Axe-O-Lotl, Chris Mason€™s Dominator 2 look-a-like, with a high powered Co2 axe at the front. The drive system is the standard 6 wheel drive you find in Storm 2, so nothing odd to report there self-rights using the axe, but limited firing power of 40 could leave it high and dry, and the ground clearance isn€™t the highest around.
All 4 robots are in the arena, the doors have been locked, as all 4 competitors are in the control booths, as we will return after this break€¦
*Adverts for Random Stuff*
Welcome back from those lovely adverts, it is now time to party!

All 4 robots are away, DEM is spinning it€™s outer ring up to speed to attack the sides of Dennis, as Wolf is heading off to attack Axe-O-Lotl, as Dennis turns, and also starts to drive towards Axe-O-Lotl, looking for destruction, and those sides look lovely to attack, as Wolf gets first blow, flipping Axe-O-Lotl over, as Dennis slams in, self-righting Axe-O-Lotl, as DEM being driven by Alex slams into the rear end of Dennis, as Wolf takes an axe-blow from Axe-O-Lotl, as Dennis is pushed into the rear corner of Axe-O-Lotl, lifting Chris€™s machine up, as the rear panel of Dennis takes a lovely scar from the Hardox teeth of DEM€™s outer cage.
Wolf is back in the action, flipping Axe-O-Lotl over, into the spinner of DEM, as the top panel of Axe-O-Lotl suddenly gets an air hole to let the air out, as Daniel annoyed at the attack on his machine, rams into DEM at full speed, as DEM was driving it€™s outer wheels around, but Wolf slams into the side of Dennis, the side spike on the right hand side going down into the wooden floor, as Wolf flips Dennis over. Axe-O-Lotl slams the axe down into the top of Wolf, placing a lovely dent in the sweet titanium, as DEM shaken by the attack, rams into Dennis€™s drum, as both major spinners collide for the first time. Kevin has turned Wolf around and has flipped Axe-O-Lotl over onto its back. Chris quickly self-rights, but lands in the path of Dennis, which flips it over once more, but you can see the damage to the front drum of Dennis, as a pile of the titanium which was hit by DEM€™s teeth flies off. DEM meanwhile hits the side of Wolf, and spins it around, with another lovely scar in the side. Axe-O-Lotl is hit by Dennis again, as Chris€™ machine is twisted around, as DEM slams into it at full power, spinning the upside-down axe-robot around the arena floor, as the side armour flies off, from it€™s bolts, flying underneath Dennis, which survives by driving over it.
The damage is all to be seen on all 3 remaining robots, as Wolf flips Axe-O-Lotl over the arena wall and out. Dennis is looking at DEM, as Alex is spinning up his weapon for another attack, as both robots circle each-other, Wolf comes slamming in, as all 3 robots makes a rumble, as sparks fly and smoke goes up covering all three robots just to be annoying, as Wolf is the first to come out of the three-some, the front flipper bent, as it looked like it took a hit for the team, as Dennis comes out second of the three robots, the side panel and spike ripped off, as the spike is in the arena floor, as DEM turns and gets away, but slower, as it looks like one of the outer wheels isn€™t working, as smoke is coming from the wheel-hole. Dennis€™ front drum isn€™t working, but looks modestly intact. DEM comes in onto the attack onto Dennis and pushes the weapon-less robot towards the pit, as Wolf drives towards the pit release, the weapon locked into rambot mode, and pushes Dennis towards the opening pit, as it falls down.
CEASE
Dues Ex Machina and Wolf go forward to the final melee, but both need work to be done to them before the final.

The Final Melee Draw
Dues ex Machina vs. Wolf vs. Vertindicular vs. Mass Disctruction Revolution
Go after Wolf and keep hitting the armour, should be able to rip something off it and immobilise it. Then go after the other bot (Dues ex Machina) and tear into it too... Aiming to hit the sides or corners or skirting on either opponent to get that nice panel tearing effect
Will let MDR do his thing, will save me having to fight so much.
The Final Melee Draw
Dues ex Machina vs. Wolf vs. Vertindicular vs. Mass Disctruction Revolution
Go after Wolf and keep hitting the armour, should be able to rip something off it and immobilise it. Then go after the other bot (Dues ex Machina), will keep attacking it. I dont see it doing much damage to me and I dont think Ill do much damage to it. If he goes into to ram bot mode, Ill just let him ram into me, hell just get deflected away. Will let Vertindicular do his thing, will save me having to fight so much.
Copy and past is fun, eh Aaron?
Stop copying my tactics! :wink::proud:
