Easy fixed. I choose to rename aka IDIOT to Jihad.
Martyns getting serious LOL :)
I knew I had the rules saved somewhere:
quote:
2.3.
Total weight is measured without consumables - e.g. gases, fuel - and does not include safety bars, straps, guards or similar equipment used to immobilise moving arms/weapons. (Please note that batteries are not considered as consumables). N.B. Total weight also does not include such safety devices as the €œsafety tether€ required while running in some arena types.
Just think of it, like a larger typhoon. If the walking system is your problem, why not kick Archangel of the Abyss out because it uses the same system.
Jihad will work, but as Dave stated, the robot has very little speed and no traction whatsoever.
Correct me if Im wrong, but doesnt having no traction mean it cant move?
Cheeky boy system has 12 legs i think, itll probably fll voer or strumble with only 8 so there
Also I think with such minimal power in your mobility you wont be able to move at all. You expecting Two standard wheelchair motors, at 12 volts power the legs to move. to work. I use magmotors at 36 to get archangel moving, that poer had to go through all the cams in the legs and i doubt what your suggestign would be adequate.
Let me just do a quick weight breakdown, and this is the non techie here
engine - 40 kg
shell - 20kg
chassis - 74 kg
claws: there are six of which so, as for exampel the mortis axe blade weights 3kg, assuming its half the weight of that we get 9kg for puny blades
a starter motor, lets be generous and say there weight 3kg
same again for the wheelchair motors
That 152kg, which means your trying to fit batteries, the legs of the machines, the skirts and the fuel tank into 48kg. Considerign scuttle b2 (anarchy without the armour or weapons) weights 100 that just aint gonna happen, especially seeign as the design of the cheeky boy system requires large feet.
I would say that the shell wil break up upon reaching max velocity. Mainly because Dave is stretching 20kg worth of metal around a 1.6m diameter. Thats almost only 2mm steel ! For that size and speed, I would like to see a minimum of 75kg weight spent into the shell before I would believe it will survive.
The engine, is possible, but Ive never heard of any Rotax motors running turbo/charger on the intakes, is this some new, uncommon racing mod? Also 4litres of fuel is a bucket load for that size of motor. That would run it for several hours! I would expect something like that being used with a Gas Turbine!
The walking system, I wont get started on that, but I know the Anarchy system can be done with four legs per side with chains, sprockets, legs and structure around them for under 25kg each side with no problems (This includes PERM080 drive motors)
survive the hits by the almightily MDU
Okay, enough of this... MDU is gone.. its in the past, stop damn posting it in your stats!(This goes for everyone else too)
Well Im going back into my workshop to play with my omnibot. BYE :proud:
But he would need 50 kg in total for the legs and parts that go with it, but then he doesnt have any weight for the large and heavy fuel tank, the skrits or the batteries.
Additionally even for a full body spinner hes using almost 75% of his weight in his weapon, in contrast tengu and archangel only have around 50.
*Wonders why the american system is growing and the british system is dying*
Jihad was only a joky entry, t was 30 months old, so thats why its so shit. Another change of entry, replace Jihad with The Linear Mover which is an idea I had, stats when I can be asked to draw it up, you might have a lovely picture of it as well :proud:
Oh for any applicable deities sake!
STOP DOOMSAYING YOU TWERP!
The Linear Mover
Mass - I don€™t know(with any luck within 200 kg :proud:)
Weapons - A 6-bar spinner (weighing 26 kg) (Bar sits on top) with the ends bent downwards to stop robots getting underneath. The bar is powered by a Lem 130 at 48 volts, and spins to about 3000 rpm. The bar has suspension on it, so it can hit hard objects without breaking
Srimech - It has a large pole on the top to self-right
Velocity - 02(TWO) mph!!!
Ground clearance - At lowest, with the legs up, the base is on the ground, with the legs down it is 1cm.
Skirts - Nah, the legs go up.
Wheel Type - 8 legs with a linear actuator in the middle of the legs motion, so is the leg. When the actuator retracts, the leg goes forwards, and when the actuator is at the end of its movement, the leg is going backwards. It€™s a bit like a train (Ta for Mr Frank). There is a 2nd linear actuator on each leg to lift it up, mainly to allow the first actuator to go back without moving.
Motors - No Thanks, I will pass on having drive motors this time
Batteries - Enough to survive 6 minutes of fighting action.
Body Shape - Cut-Off cone, with Ziggo style Srimech bar
Armour - 4mm titanium cone, with steel inner section/base.
Colour - The bar is red
Summary - It€™s a walker designed with those anti-walkers in mind, if the system doesn€™t class as a proper walker, nothing will. Thanks to Frank for suggestions.
Strengths - Weapon, 360 degree attack, Srimech, Most of weight is in base
Weaknesses - Crap at turning, crap speed, not the best to drive.
Ingore those stats please mr martyn:
The Linear Mover
Mass - I don€™t know (with any luck within 200 kg :proud:)
Weapons - A spinning semi-shell (aka Typhoon), powered by a Lem 200 at 48 volts. The shell weighs in the region off 45 kg and takes ~ 2 seconds to spin up fully to 950 rpm, with the gearing from the motor. The shell has blades, 4 on the bottom level (1mm from base) and 4, 5cm up. The blades up a bit are longer so that it hits with 2 blades. The shell itself has rubber suspension to take
Srimech - It has a large pole on the top to self-right; it€™s bent at the end
Velocity - Two mph!!!
Ground clearance - At lowest, with the legs up, the base is on the ground, with the legs down it is 1cm, but it changes when walking.
Skirts - Nah, it€™s variable ground clearance, so skirts would get in the way.
There is a 2nd linear actuator on each leg to lift it up, mainly to allow the first actuator to go back without moving the robot back. There is a back-up system in which the entire leg system can drop down to lift the base off the ground to move.
Motors - No Thanks, I will pass on having drive motors this time
Batteries - Enough to survive 6 minutes of fighting action.
Body Shape - Cut-Off cone, with Ziggo style Srimech bar
Armour -6mm titanium cone. Steel chassis, aluminium legs.
Colour - The bar is red
Summary - It€™s a walker designed with those anti-walkers in mind, if the system doesn€™t class as a proper walker, nothing will. Thanks to Frank for suggestions.
Strengths - Weapon, 360 degree attack, Srimech, Most of weight is in base.
Weaknesses - Crap at turning, crap speed, not the best to drive
Yep, Im that bored.

Just get rid of your walkers. If you cant design a walker we dont have a problem with, doesnt it say something?
Ill have a look at this new one.
Build it and Ill believe it.
The reason the UK vapourbots are dieing is because people like you, Dave, are constantly trying to pass off cannon fodder as entries.
Damn I miss the days of SpinVerter 3, VGer and The Robot That Wasnt There.
If this walker isnt a true walker in the terms of martyn, then what is? I designed it with the Fra walking rules in mind, so no cams, no chains, no gears.
It is a true walker. According to the rules, Ill give you that, it looks almost the same as the Jim Struts/Miss Struts walking mech.
The whole cam situation only applies to people mounting off centred wheels (CAMS) and calling them walkers. One of Christian Carlbergs robots was like this and was quickly banned.
V-gers still around, so 1 out of 3 aint bad.
...Actually, yes it is. Its only 33%
%33.3 and a third, Frank.
Tony, stop being so picky :proud:
quote:

Thats whats it suppose to be, an old-school walker which are slow, crap to turn and normally have limited runs. If I wanted a fast walker, I would just use the shuffler system called Anarchy. Besides like I been asking, what other weapon are you suppose to put on a 2 mph walker to give it some hope...
... a flipper?:proud:
Actually its more like 33.33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 etc%
I know it was a few days back, but I need to comment on this...
*Wonders why the american system is growing and the british system is dying*
Too be honest Dave, I dont think the British System is dying... and if it is, there is only one person here to blame for it all - and that is you. Please get the message, if you prefer the American System, clear off to ARC and stop ruining our fun. If you want to stop here, I suggest working to keep things alive instead of posting that the British system is dying after every post you make.
Oh and by the way, this is the original system, not the British system. All the bugs have been cleared and it has developed so that everyone can enjoy it, worldwide, not just in the UK.
And to Martyn, my enteries still are not done so Ill probably post a variety of new and old bots later on.
I still need stats from
Scott
Steve
Aj
Chris
and
Dave.S
Dave i need a final entry list from you ASAP and anyone else who has is changing from the ones who havent posted stats. After this you arent aloud to change your entrys cause i want to do the draw asap
Martyn, Ill be changing entries. Hurricane Hugo has been updated and Ill be dumping Ak-47 Slapper for a new deisgn, Dr.Evil.
Stats up soon.
Did it cost you one meeeeeelion dollars to build?:proud:
Yes Frank, it has no weaknesses...except...mojo.
Stats are up.
stats for steves final robot
NAME- All Scoop and No Stab Make Steve A Dull Boy (formerly Scoop and Stab the Second and a Bit) (thanks to Aaron for partially inspiring the name :)) (HW)
SHAPE- reverse wedge with scooped front, sloped sides and slightly boxed back
COLOUR- blue
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 110cm X 75cm X 45cm
SPEED- 14mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at front, 10mm at sides n rear without skirting, virtually 0mm with skirting
ARMOUR- 3.5mm monocoque Hardox all over
WHEELS- inside robot, 4WD
POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors. These will run at 36v and produce approximately 12hp.
WEAPONS- The weapon synergy you know and love is back. The main form of attack this time, however, is the large flipping scoop at the front. This is powered by 2 x 39mm Dia high-pressure rams, giving flipping power equal to that of Mute. OOTAs galore!
This is accompanied by the ol pneumatic axe, forward-facing and mounted on the scoop mechanism ala Behemoth...except it aint pneumatic no more! A bit smaller than previous versions, the hammer is powered by a 36v LEM-130, providing about 2kJ per whack and almost infinite blows. No bad, eh?
SRIMECH- the scoop can easily right the robot (hopefully, the axe can, too). Also, a single spike on either side will hopefully prevent it getting beached
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, scoop and hammer can be activated together or separately
STRENGTHS- Weapon synergy, tough armour, very good traction, nippy, skirted
WEAKNESSES- So-so manouverability?

Message to Martyn and anybody else who is reading.
I been thinking about this for some time now and taken on the advise of several people who I shall not name, I have decided to redraw my entries from Martyn Robot Wars Series 5 for some undisclosed and one main reason, which is that I have finally had enough of designing robots and I€™m quitting the stat-stat style robots because they take too much time to keep with the game which goal-posts have been moved too far towards unrealistic.
The other reasons I am keeping to myself until a later date if I feel the time is right. I finish The Legends and NSTT and wait till all my robots are out of the current vapourbot tourneys before disappearing. I feel this is the best measure in the current situation.
Sorry Martyn, but its best before the draw is made.
Dave Sheppard (Battle Writer For The Time Being)
*Edit to post above*
The British System is dying, so following andys statement, goodbye
WHAAAAAAAAT!? NSTT and Legends wont even be finished? And youre just going to leave all of a sudden just ebacuse you feel like the system is dying? Well...its your decision. I know ill miss you. So long, Dave.
Build a real robot Dave, its better then stats and points....
Your loss. Good luck in whatever you decide to do next. Sorry if I have influenced your decicion to leave, I was simply putting across that I couldnt give a monkeys about the American system, it has nothing to do with FRA FanFics.
Should the British system start dying, you can guarantee that it will never properly die because Ill always be here.
And Ill also second Aaron about real bots. Just remember if I can build a bot, anyone can.
I will use 8 real robots to replace dave.s

Pussycat (Series 7 Version)
GigaByte (Version 1.5)
Shape: A big pair of pliers just like Tough as Nails.
Dimensions: 750mm x 1000mm x 200mm (Length x Width x Height) [Weapon open]
Motivation: Four aluminum wheels with a layer of Vulkolan bonded on for extra grip; these are actually inside the claws (two in each) and can work whether the weapon is open or closed. Spiked wheels can be added for grip on wooden surfaces.
Drive: Two LEM130 Lynch Motors powered by a NiCad BattlePack producing 36v giving around 18hp to push other robots with.
Speed: It can reach a top speed of around 20mph.
Turning Circle: Can turn on the spot with the weapon opened or closed.
Ground Clearance: 10mm all the way around.
Armour: 5mm thick Hardox WearPlate welded together to form a monocoque, all the edges are rounded off to make sure spinners can€™t catch on and rip the panels off.
Weapons: The whole body works as a pair of claws just like Tough as Nails. The claws are shut in under a second using a 80mm bore 200-stroke ram. The ram is fired using Nitrogen at a pressure of 1000psi, which is contained in two 2.2kg canisters, which should mean there are enough shots for a fight. To make everything even faster there are two 1.1kg buffer tanks, which means things are going to find it hard escaping once they are between the claws. This should be able to cause major to damage to most robots armour. The ends of the claws are made of sharpened Titanium so they can slice into robots better. The whole set-up is capable of producing a bone crunching 3500kg of force at the ram.
Self-Righting Mechanism: Can work just as well inverted.
Notes: Everything is shock mounted and rubber is positioned around all the parts so it can survive the impact caused by the attacks.
ForcePower Turbo
Body Shape: There€™s a change in the body shape this time, so help flip robots and deflect spinners. It€™s a box wedge shape, but it€™s about twice as high as before and now has a steeper wedge, the back is rounded.
Colour: ForcePower has a nice new shiny silver paint colour with a red/orange flame down either side.
Weight: I€™ll guess it is 100kg for now, because I haven€™t done a full weight check.
Dimensions: 70cm x 65cm x 25cm (Length x Width x Height)
Speed: 15mph, nearly 10mph slower this time for the added control.
Turning Circle: The robot can turn on the spot using a skid-steer system.
Ground Clearance: Pretty much as low as you can get on the front wedge, leading gradually up to around 15mm at the back of the robot.
Armour: 5mm thick Hardox 600 on the front wedge with 5mm thick Aluminium 6061 on the baseplate. The sides and back are made of 5mm thick Grade 5 Titanium. (Please tell me if you think this is OTT)
Motivation: Four big, inner wheels that can run invertible, treaded with Vulcalon.
Drive: To keep ForcePower up-to-date with the latest pushers it uses two B42-500 Magmotors on 60v. The motors are run on 250 C-Cell NiCad Batteries to produce the 60v needed to power the motors. This drive train is capable of producing a kick ass 64hp!
Weapons: Brute force to ram robots into arena obstacles and walls.
SRIMECH: The robot works upside down, and can be driven well by using the speed controllers invert switch
Strengths: Awesome pushing power, control and manoeuvrability.
Weaknesses: Not very effective once turned upside down, might be too powerful for it€™s own good.
SOR 4.0
Shape: Once again SOR is a box-wedge shape, but this time the side wheel guards and wheels have been removed and have been replaced with some stylish sloped sides that should hopefully help deflect side attacks from spinners and flippers. This resembles a taller version of Storm II.
Colour: The whole robot is sprayed black and SOR is written across the top in red.
Dimensions: 800mm x 700mm x 200mm (Length x Width x Height)
Speed: The robot can reach a top speed of around 13mph, not the quickest around but it gives almost instant acceleration to top speed and great control.
Turning Circle: SOR uses a skid steer system like Tornado, so zero.
Ground Clearance: 0mm on the front wedge, 3mm at the sides and 10mm at the back of the robot.
Armour: 3.2mm thick Hardox 600 armour all over the body, this should give great protection against most weapon types.
Motivation: Each wheel has an S28-150 Magmotor powering it, giving around 13mph but not fantastic pushing power (Only around 6hp) the whole system is run on 24v and the motors are powered by NiMH packs running on 24v. This time the motors have aluminum covers over the top of them to stop any overheating, it also acts as s bit or protection to stop bits getting inside and to stop them being shaken around a bit. There are also some more sections added to the hull made of Aluminum 6061 with drilled sections that should keep the motors cool for definite. There are two wheels, each made of Aluminum and have a layer of Vullkolan bonded on for extra traction.
Weapons: The main weapon remains a flipping arm, this time it€™s rear hinged again. Running off a 80mm bore ram fed with CO2 at a pressure of 145psi it can easily hoist another robot onto it€™s back. The gas is contained in two 2.2kg canisters giving around 30 flips per fight. The rear spinner has now changed; it is now on the horizontal axis meaning SOR can self-right without the spinner getting in the way. It is made of aluminum and has two Hardox teeth to damage the other robots, it€™s driven off a LEM130 Lynch Motor run on 48v giving it about 9hp, the disc weighs around 6kg in weight and is approximately 300mm in diameter, it doesn€™t dish out much energy but it can damage most armour to pickup some more points.
SRIMECH: The flipper can self-right the robot easily.
Strengths: Good all-rounder.
Weaknesses: Limited weaponry power.
Wedga Revo (Version 2.0)
Shape: A cut off wedge like Steg 2, instead of the wedged front these is now a scoop that the lifting arm rests inside in its normal position. The sides and back are all slightly slanted to deflect spinners.
Dimensions: 800mm x 700mm x 150mm (Length x Width x Height)
Motivation: Driving Wedga Revo are six Aluminum hubs with a layer of Vullkolan bonded on for extra grip on the arena surface, these are 140mm in diameter and 50mm in width.
Drive: Driving the wheels are two LEM130 Lynch Motors run on 48v from a 3300mAh NiCad botpack. This gives approximately 18hp that should out push quite a few robots and makes a great combination with the front scoop. The robot is under the control of a Vantec speed controller meaning the power is all controlled and put to good use.
Speed: Wedga Revo can reach a top speed of about 15mph so it€™s nice and controlled and has a decent acceleration to top speed.
Turning Circle: Wedga Revo uses a skid steering system like Tornado so that it can turn on the spot but maybe not as well as two wheel drive robots.
Ground Clearance: There is around 10mm of clearance all around the robot minus the front scoop that rests along the ground so it can get under virtually anything, the sides and back are skirted and rest together at the corners giving it 0mm clearance all the way around the robot.
Skirts: The skirts are made of 5mm thick Grade 5 Titanium and are hinged to the sides and back of the robot by a rotary joint, the skirts all meet at the corners meaning it is very hard to get under the robot from any angle.
Armour: The baseplate is constructed of 5mm thick Aluminum, that should protect the bottom if for any reason another robot manages to flip and attack the bottom. The front scoop is made of 3.2mm thick Hardox that is very hard to bend of shatter if not impossible. This is used for deflecting spinner attacks and general scooping up and pushing around. The top, sides and back are all made of 6mm thick Grade 5 Titanium that are all bolted onto the 50mm Hardox box section chassis.
Weapons: The main weapon is a flipping arm that is hinged at the rear of the robot and rests down the wedge and inside the front scoop so if a spinner hits the front scoop the arm should not be damaged. The flipping arm is 100mm wide and is made of Grade 5 Titanium and is shaped like the scoop at the front so it can flip any robots on the front scoop easily. It is powered by a big 80mm bore 100mm stroke custom-made Aluminum ram. This is pumped with CO2 gas at a pressure of 150psi contained in two 2.2kg canisters and a 1.1kg buffer tank giving around 35 flips in a fight. This should mean the flipper can produce around 540kgs of force each flip that should send other robots flying! This set up can comfortably flip 400kg so any heavyweight class robot should not be too much of a problem. The front scoop/rear skirt and drive train are also a great way of ramming robots around the arena and can work well with the flipper for flipping robots out of the arena.
Self-Righting Mechanism: The flipper can self-right the robot with ease with stylish jumps off the ground.
Notes: An almost unchanged version, just with a modified bodywork.
GeForce Evo 3.0
Shape: A low wedge with sloped sides and a sloped rear.
Dimensions: 800mm x 600mm x 250mm (Length x Width x Height)
Motivation: Four aluminum wheels with a layer of Vulkolan bonded on for extra grip.
Drive: Two LEM130 Lynch Motors on 48v powered by 120x 3000mAh NiCad cells producing 12amps.
Speed: It can reach a top speed of around 15mph.
Turning Circle: The robot can spin on the spot using a Tornado like skid steering system.
Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front going up to about 10mm at the back.
Armour: 3.25mm Hardox 450 monocoque.
Weapons: The main weapon is a rear hinged full pressure flipper. It is powered by an 80mm bore ram that is pumped with Nitrogen gas at 1000psi. The power of the flipper is reduced using a reverse lifting ratio that means it is capable of flipping 1500kg at the tip. The gas is contained in two 2.2kg canisters giving over 20 flips per fight. The flipper has a Titanium blade for getting under other robots better.
Self-Righting Mechanism: The flipper can self-right GeForce in a 540 degree flip.
Notes: Lightly upgraded in the armour department.
Psyclonic
Shape: Flat cylindrical shape with a ring around the circumference
Dimensions: 900mm x 150mm (Inner Robot) 1000mm x 150mm (With Ring)
Motivation: Four custom Aluminum hubs with a layer of vulk bonded round the edge.
Drive: Two LEM130 Lynch Motors running at 36v from a NiCad BattlePack.
Speed: Can reach a top speed of around 15mph.
Turning Circle: The skid steering method allows it to turn on the spot.
Ground Clearance: 10mm under the ring and main body.
Armour: Only top and bottom armour is needed, both panels are made of 3.25mm thick Hardox WarePlate.
Weapons: The weapon is a 100mm thick ring made of 5mm thick Hardox. It is spun around the body by a big B42-500 Magmotor run at 60v, producing around 32hp. It is geared to 5:1 to give almost instant spin up times and great top speeds. The shell also has three Hardox teeth, which can rip robots up in seconds. With the speed, maneuverability and power added to the destructive ability this is something you do not want to mess with.
Self-Righting Mechanism: The robot can also work upside down.
Notes: After self-righting difficulties with the previous two bots, Psyclonic is now invertible. All parts inside are shock mounted so that attacks do not shake itself out.
The Nose 3.0
Shape: Similar to Biohazard, a box with a flat front with sloped sides and rear.
Dimensions: 800mm x 700mm x 250mm (Length x Width x Height)
Motivation: Four aluminum wheels with a layer of Vulkolan bonded on for extra grip.
Drive: Two LEM130 Lynch Motors powered by a NiCad BattlePack producing 36v giving around 18hp to push other robots with.
Speed: It can reach a top speed of around 15mph.
Turning Circle: The robot can spin on the spot using a Tornado like skid steering system.
Ground Clearance: 10mm under the skirts, 0mm with the skirts on.
Skirts: 6mm thick Titanium/Vanadium skirts hinged with a rotary joint.
Armour: 3mm thick Aluminum on the front, sides and back. It is very unlikely a robot will be able to attack those areas under the skirts. The top and bottom are made of 5mm thick Titanium.
Weapons: The weapon is modeled on Biohazard. The arm is made of drilled Grade 5 Titanium and works in exactly the same way as Biohazards, but the linear actuators are now replaced with two 80mm bore rams fed by a 2.2kg CO2 bottle on 145psi. The front lifting plate is now swapped one that stretches the whole front of the robot in width (700mm) and outwards around 150mm. Made of drilled Grade 5 Ti again it is designed to slide under any ground clearance and launch them not only upwards but forwards as well.
Self-Righting Mechanism: None, but you have to get under the skirting first.
Notes: An upgraded version with better armouring and a better weapon set up
I would build a real robot, but it will take a large amount of time out of my other jobs, its coming upto a busy time for music reviewers, and as each album takes a few hours to do the review for, it knocks down the time I have free. Also in that remaining free time, I have to do gardening, so hence hardly no free time.
*Goes back to listening to new foos album*
I need stats from:
Scott and Chris then i will be able to post the draw
if your waiting for scott to post his stats before putting up the draw, then you will be waiting until the cows come home:proud:
Indeed. There was a very good reason I said he couldnt reserve places in advance in my tourney:proud:
Scotts Gay?
