Think we might be bringing our robot along if we can finish it soon. Although its not facing any spinners because it has to enter our school competition. Can i sign up then pull out if we cant make it?

No problem Mark, plenty of room at this preston event.
Mr Stu
Ok is camping free to competitors?
So its basically Newark, but in a different location :)
/me writes another forget-me-not to sort out his trip....
Yes mark and Stephen.
Mr Stu
lol its going to be tight to come to this event i have 17 days to build a whole heavy from scratch :)
So what time does battle commence? (so I know what time to come for)
Quote from the website:
showground Gates
open at 9am,
Arena displays
from 11am.
Hope that helps:).
It doesnt matter quite as much now, as Ive managed to snag a place to stay thats pretty near it. All I need now is something to do on Saturday night...
So, the accommodation... Is this newark style hot showers and flushing toilets or more guide camp style with a hole and a spade?
Just wondering...
i think ill let you see when you get there. :)
Im not sure myself.
I know this year with it being the first year for the event, its not to the standard of newark, however talking about next year as long as things go to plan, along with the addition of tractor pulling, and monster trucks, they have mentioned showers :)
JOhn
Can we have at least separate ladies and gents toilet facilities? At the very least bushes some 30ft apart :)
im sorry the bushes are only 25ft apart !!!
entry to the show comes with a free nose peg !!!
:)
I bet thats false advertising! LOL.
If i get there and there is no free nose peg, i wont be a happy chappy :)
Bush or forest - it doesnt matter as some men cant manage to hit either even if they tried
Hmm doubt we will be done in time for this one...will be close, Stupid exams lol:)
dave, its not much to get done untill its fightable, just leave the wheel guards off , apart from them theres not much to be done.
Look how much needs doing on the pluff! new axles, new selfrighter with new gears, extra battery mounting, gear spark eroding and fitting and a cut off the back of the chassis to remake so the astros hold in properly!
I will get it done lol.(With plenty of help from dad on the way)
lol I will try, Let me know when you can go down the works- I woke up with a sunburn from the welding I did yesterday, atleast I think its a sunburn type thing, can hardox fumes affect skin?:S
Will there be a team listing online soon?
i have had alot of reactions to hardox fumes
drys my skin, gives me sunburn and makes my lips massive all swollen, gives me a fever etc
so thats why im getting more hardox :P i after where a posion mask now when cutting and welding it.
Jonno i wont be able to come to preston because my dads had to go to seattle and i have no transport sorry
Ive run into a small problem here. My usual teammate has been called into work this weekend. Im currently asking around to find a replacement, however if I cant find one will it be possible to get a hand lifting my heavyweight into and out of the arena? In exchange for a few beers afterwards of course. I can do everything else myself.
No problem Jim, theres always roboteers around to lend a hand, and also the Roaming Robots crew as well.
List of teams coming this weekend due up within 48 hours, and also an email to all teams coming to this event will be sent out within 48 hours also.

Sorry Guys,
These things are coming up so fast... Gonna have to miss this one.
Kane :-(
Yup, Also regretfully pulling out with Turbulence as its not finished and I dont want to rush it,
Its also quite possible Ploughbot and Venom will not be compeeting. As Ploughbot is having modifications and venom has still not recovered from aylsburry. But DB5 should still be going.
Yep, sorry but venom and ploughbot are unable to attend. james has had to delay venoms repairing due to work, and Ploughbot was being prepared, and too many little things went wrong due to the rush, and so by the end of the night needed more work to do than at the start.
Just spent the afternoon at the event - some good fights going on. Highlight for me was seeing Tornado getting tossed over the railing by Merlin!
Thanks to Roaming Robots for putting on the show at Preston. I guess you all got drenched putting the arena away. Thanks for all your hard work.
The last featherweight melee was brilliant, I was standing at the public side of the arena and the audience were really enjoying it. Im sure the other fights were good but I had my head stuck in a rats nest of wiring for most of them as usual :)
Hope the roaming robots van got out of the site OK, I had enough trouble in the mud just with my car.
Nice relaxed event for a change and yet again roaming robots did the whole event without a drop of rain except the last fight :).
Was also a little worried about getting out of the site without getting stuck after getting a flat and fitting the bike tyre , but had no probelms in the end. Looking forward to RIAT next.
A bike tyre? On the camper??
Space saver tyre on my car. Why did they ever invent those things, everyone must be laughing when they see you travelling at 80kph on the motorway with one bright yellow wheel and 3 sliver alloys crossing your fingers that it will get you home:sad:. At least it only cost £8 to fix the puncher.
Why is it, when cars have a space saver tyre, do they still fit it on the underside of the car?
Should probably point out that you shouldnt exceed 50mph when using a space saver tyre.
80kph = 49.7mph :)
:) I know... poor man.
Wasnt aimed at you Mark, just general information, as I always find most people dont actually seem to know what they are doing in the driving seat. Let alone, convert http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...BSearch&meta=>
I have a full size spare so  which is just how I would have felt if I had to drive all that way.

Watch out for trip at the end :)
It was a great event, I was there only for the Saturday but it was great fun.
Roaming Robots did a great job,as usual and a personal thanks to Jonno.
Chris.
Team Ouroboros.
What I usually find is that most people know how to change into the right lane, but dont know how to change back again unless they are turning off and then seem to only figure it out at the last minute (usually women & people with grey hair) :).
I want to shoot people who cant hold their line on a bend or roundabout like the stupid old git (man) I encountered this morning. Worse thing is that theyre totally oblivious to everything else around them, road markings, etc.
