30th April/1st May - XFM FW Challenge, Cambridge
Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed the event.
I thought the arena was excellent and offered an amazingly clear view of the action.
The fights were exciting and sometimes unpredictable. Little Flipper removing all the robots from the arena in the melee was particularly impressive.
Ive uploaded my pictures and videos to the group I setup before:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Robogames_videos/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Robogames_videos/
The pictures are in the photo gallery and the videos in the files section. I know some people dont like the signup thing you have to go through to access yahoo groups so if someone wants to steal them and put the pics and vids on a proper server that would be cool.
Im going to have to get my robots finished soon so I can join in the fun!
cheers
Mark

Yes
The arena gave the audience a clear view of the action. A very enjoyable event with some good fights. A lot of damaged robots (mainly due to little spinner)were repaired very quickly. The audience participation in the proceedings and the heavy demos is definitly a good format. The event got better as the weekend went on and the monday play was very relaxed and enjoyable. Im sure it will go from strength to strength. Well done to Little Hitter for winning the competition and to extreme fighting machines for organising it.
Roll on the next one!!!

I dont mind you having a drive either, but are you quite sure you are ready for a drive of a proper grown-up feather??!!!
Hi Geoff, sorry i couldnt give you a grudge match, sorry if my un grown up drill motors brunt out, we cant all buy astroflight motors or £50,000 jeeps :) But i think you woul have beaten me anyway as your driving was great. (What was it, flipped out arena, in the pit, stuck on arena wall 3 times?) LOL!!!
Na you will get it one day im sure Geoff. Maybe Pillow Fight v KX ? Hehe.
Event was good, bloody well done to roboteers for trying very hard to be ready on time, even when Little Spinner wasnt helping things. LOL! Na Well Done to Big Nipper team for winning and also keeping the show going with demos and having 3 fab robots. TTMT - Team Too Much Titiaum. :)
See you all at the next one!

Just got back, after the long drive back home to find it still raining up here in the North west.
This was definatley an event to remember, great to see the crowd enjoying it so much and a great Arena setup. Also a big thanks to the XFM crew and I cannot wait for the next one with the added Arena hazards. The lighting, smoke machine and running commentry threwout the whole show was execillent and really added to the whole atmosphere.

30th April/1st May - XFM FW Challenge, Cambridge
Evening all, just before I head off to bed felt I should come here and thank everyone who took part for making this a fantastic show. Weve had emails, phone calls and one family even came back to the venue whilst we were taking the rig down to express their thanks, their thanks to the roboteers for making this such a great show. Big congratulations to Little Hitter on winning the £250 prize - you certainly earnt it !
Every single roboteer worked so hard over the weekend. 6 total sell-out shows over 3 days with the featherweights being the stars of the show was something that 12 months ago simply wouldnt have been thought about. You held the audience on the edge of their seats, you provided them with everything thrill and twist they could have hoped for.
I think theres a risk of taking for granted what it is that we do in these shows these days, we dont realise just how much the audience are amazed by what we do. From the feedback weve had so far, and the surge of ticket sales for Ipswich on the back of Cambridge I think its fair to say that XFM will be returning to Cambridge in the future.
As well as the roboteers, thanks must also go to the crew from Team Tornado (Andy and Sarah, Dave and Sian, and of course Bryan) for their unrelenting help both on the day and before the event - this really wouldnt have been possible without you. Pete, Jackie and Mr Stu as well as Shane and stealing the audiences hearts and being able to get applause for just walking into the arena. Also Ian Lockhart for providing his sterling judging service. Our thanks to Hills Road College for allowing us to take the place over for the weekend and to anyone who has been involved with, or helped with the shows since conception.
For those of you who didnt notice, you had a standing ovation at the end of Mondays final show - each and every one of your earnt it and deserved it... all XFM did was provide the glue to hold it all together.
Take care all, and well see you all at XFM Ipswich !

Stu,
Ok, I know the driving is still a work in progress :) (between you and me I was so busy watching out for Stiff Breeze, I totaly forgot that the pit was there!!)
I also have to set the record straight..my Jeep was nowhere near £50k! If I could afford to spend £50K on a car, you can bet your life it wouldnt be a Jeep!! (Jaguar XJ8 maybe..but not a Jeep!)
Now thats out of the way..Well done Ed and Co. a damn fine event and roll on the next one!!

Big thanx to Ed n Bob n Rick for a great event
Arena looked great, will be sure scary when youve got the mag-kill-saws in there... Lighting was amazing and looked great during the show.
Its just a shame I managed to blow an IBC and an Astro all in one event... oh well... I look forward to the next two events in Ipswich

We really enjoyed the event, a bit knackering on Saturday!!. microCHIP took a lot of damage off Little Hitter, nothing expensive or serious though. Looking forward to Ipswich now. Many thanks to Ed and the team for a well organised, family-orientated friendly event.

Id just like to say to everyone involved what a great show.
Well done guys:)
The arena was most impressive with its lighting system and smoke effects.
And the robots put on a great show (I was only there Sunday afternoon). Congrats to little hitter that is a seriously high rate of hits from that axe.
I hope to get my own feather running some time this year. But having seen how destructive some of the bots are I think I better get some more armour.
Oh yes and I liked vertigo doing its little dance when it turned. (I take its the gyroscopic effect of the disc).

Interestingly the most damage our robots got were from our robots :)

30th April/1st May - XFM FW Challenge, Cambridge
Thanks to all.
Unity was not actually meant to fight this weekend, she was a backup in case Tantrum failed, but she aquited herself well.
fight 1, won against Venom, the shovel, and pillow torque (who helpfully drove in the pit)
fight 2, oops, link fell out before the start agains robo-challenge clusterbot.
fight 3, took lots of damage to the 3mm steel armour against little spinner and BS, but would have had you both in the pit if the fight wasnt stopped with people panicing about little spinners smoke generator. I woz robbed !!! :)
not bad for a substitue robot eh? shell be back with a grudge, so get that magmotor ready little spinner :)
oh, and the pay2drives did well to, especially in the final melee, where blue was still fighting at the end (very well driven by one of the audience) and green dragon was out the arena. (not so well driven by me)
in seriousness, fantastic event, well done XFM

30th April/1st May - XFM FW Challenge, Cambridge
fight 2, oops, link fell out before the start agains robo-challenge clusterbot.
It was moving about occasionally in the battle, only when it went near the pit. Must have had a loose connection or something.
-
30th April/1st May - XFM FW Challenge, Cambridge
The link was lose, as when i went to pull it out at the end of the fight when disarming the bots, it was sort of only just in, but not clicked in.

Doh. I knew we forgot something. I have a shitload of miniandersons over here, and I forgot to sell some to James.
-
30th April/1st May - XFM FW Challenge, Cambridge
lol. isnt that what hes using? or are they the power pole things? I will always use deans connectors now, very light, take alot of current and dont fall out lol.
-
30th April/1st May - XFM FW Challenge, Cambridge
Not to turn this thread into mines better than yours thread but we used to use Deans connectors on all our feather weights, but changed to Mini Andersons as they can take more current and normaly better at holding together. Dont think James B put his in correctly as i know he was rushing to get the pay to drive bots ready, and weight - theres only about 10g in it for god sake. LOL! Oh and you can heat the andersons up more when soldering the wires to it to get a better connection, where as the deans plastic bit starts to melt and bend out of shape.

The wavey quality of your Life Line does seem to indicate that you may experience variable health, and that you may not always be very energetic.
While a slight disregard to the true meaning of love and its responsibilities are indicated by a Heart Line like yours
